+ -1 moreWe called and Mike came out promptly to review the situation. They took a couple of days to come up with an estimate and it was worth waiting for: it was very thorough. Ron is Make's partner and he did the estimate. The first estimate was bare bones so I asked them to upgrade to the top-of-the-line solution with a variable speed motor and a two-zone heating system. they did this the same day. I agreed to the contract (which was $1000 less than their competitor) and they were able to schedule for the next Monday, a few days later. They allocated three days but were finished in two. They came promptly with a well-prepared team. They were very clean and took away everything old. the system works like a charm and they explained everything. We are now warm and the heat is distributed throughout the house. Further, there was a problem with the internal ducting that we didn't anticipate. They immediately looked into it and found way into a hidden space and fixed it quickly. Finally, I needed a referral for some other work and they jumped right on it and gave me a referral. All in all, the experience was wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Westside Heating and AC installed a new heating and AC system in our 20-year-old home. We also had a problem because the house is two stories with a large two-storey hall and hot air rises: all the heat goes upstairs in the winter; all the cold goes downstairs in the summer. So, they also included a two-zone system so that we could heat the downstairs in the winter and cool the upstairs in the summer.

+ -1 moreMy air condition stopped working on one of those lovely Los Angeles winter days when the temperature reached 80 degrees. I read many reviews on Angie's List before deciding to call Westside Heating. The girl in the office was very helpful, pointing out that it was unlikely that they would do any "repairs" on an A/C unit that was over 20 years old. So I was prepared in advance to replace the A/C unit. Ron came out promptly and explained my options in a very up-front and professional manner. We both were aware that I had a recalled heater that would need to be replaced before I could ever sell my property. So we worked out a program whereby Westside would replace both the A/C and the furnace in one operation. I had two concerns: the size of the hole in my ceiling that would need to be enlarged in order to install the new heater in the attic and how quiet the new heater would be. I worried needlessly. The larger hole was trimmed out so beautifully that it is actually more esthetically pleasing than the original smaller access hole. And my new heater is a DREAM! So quiet! I cannot believe it! I used to wake up at night when the original heater would cycle on and off. I also opted to install the air filter in the attic, so the air intake also makes less noise! Plus, my new programmable thermostat is easy to use/program. My house is warmer, quieter, and more energy efficient -- thanks to Westside! And the crew of three, who were here for 1.5 days, could not have been nicer or more professional! They cleaned up behind themselves so well! Nobody would have never known they had been prowling around my house and attic all that time. And I asked for a favor while they were crawling in the attic: check the venting of my over-the-stove fan....which they cheerfully did for me at no extra charge. Overall, I thought the price I was charged was fair and reasonable, considering that I will now enjoy another 20 years of heating and cooling before I need to think about this project again!
Description of Work: Westside Heating replaced my 22 year old air conditioning unit which was in a side yard and at the same time replaced my 25 year old heater/furnace that was in the attic.

+ -1 moreRon did the initial inspection of our old unit and provided an estimate for its replacement. He clearly explained our options and did not try to oversell by recommending more power or functionality than we needed. The estimate was not the lowest that we received nor was it the highest. We decided to go with Westside because their proposal was the most responsive to our goals and it appeared to be the best value for what we wanted. We also felt that we could trust Westside to deal with us honestly and to perform the work in a professional manner. To date, we feel that they have met or exceeded our expectations in all regards. They sent a crew of qualified people on the date promised. All of their workers were pleasant and happy to explain everything that they were doing. They took care not only to install the new equipment in a competent way, but also to protect our walls and flooring. They completed the job in a timely manner and were careful to explain all of the features and operating instructions to us. Although everything appeared to be working properly, Mike came by the next day to inspect the work of his crew and to make sure that we were completely satisfied. Several days later, we received another phone call to follow up and to verify that we were still satisfied. We have enjoyed our experience with Westside and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.

They came out and did a full detailed estimate for us after a local, more "well known" competitor came twice with an estimate that was double in price and did not provide nearly the amount of detail. I also had trouble reaching the same person twice with the competitor. They screwed up one of their appt times with us as well. Ron from Westside came on time and was educated and courteous with his proposal. For the installation of two brand new Trane furnaces, it cost us $4000 and some change for the furnaces plus installation labor. The furnaces were both installed in less than 4 hours. In and out and even hauled away our dingy 25 yr old furnaces. Thank you Westside. We'll most definitely use you again in the future.
Description of Work: Westside HVAC came on time for our scheduled appraisal appointment, gave a clear, fully detailed estimate, scheduled our new furnace replacement within one week, and replaced our two 25 year old furnaces. The installation crew even hauled away the old furnaces for us. Clean, easy service.

Mike promptly returned our call and scheduled the service visit. He was very thorough and explained things clearly. Most importantly, he had a very practical approach to what needed to be done and what was not worth doing. They also called to schedule a followup visit to complete the job without me needing followup myself - this was extremely helpful. Our hvac system works much better now and I now have a much better idea of what needs to be done to keep it that way.

+ -1 moreThe experience was great overall. I received a quote from another reputable company for the work, but the bid was too high. I contacted Westside because of the high ratings on Angie's list. I was very clear that I was making the decision based on price, so their bid was about $1000 lower than my first bid. They did not try to upsell me in any way and seemed very honest and up- front with us. Eventually, I inquired about new vents and decided to have them install new ones. They arrived on time, were very professional and completed the work earlier than committed. We had one very minor issue with one of the vents (it was getting stuck on a screw) and they responded immediately to our concern and were back at our house within a couple of days to help us fix it. They would have come the next day, but we weren't home. The communication with Westside has exceeded our expectations, they respond to emails by the next day, answer all your questions and ensured that we were satisfied customers. I would use them again and highly recommend their services.
Description of Work: Westside Heating installed a new furnace in our home, re-did the ducting, new thermostat and installed new vents through out. In addition, the new furnaces also come with an air cleaner (nice touch). It's a 3 bedroom home, approximately 1600 square feet.

The home had ducts with asbestos wrapped around it as well as an very old furnace. Westside replaced the ducts and installed the funance. + -1 moreWe had just purchased a home and knew from the inspection that we would have to replace the furnace (the model had been recalled). The seller provided us a credit for the repair, but we did not feel confident about the company she had used for her estimate: they had clearly lowballed the offer for the seller's benefit and seemed indifferent to our questions. We decided to do research to see if we could find another company. Ron, the owner of Westside Heating, came out to give us the estimate himself. As first time homeowners, we had a lot of questions about what we needed and what we could expect, and he explained our options in detail. He also knew that we were working within a budget, and tried to keep the scope of work within what we were able to spend. For example, he let us know that there was additional ductwork that he could do to minimize the existing noise on our furnace, but he did not try to upsell us with the need to replace all the ductwork in the house. He also let us know that either he or his partner would be doing the work himself, so we were comfortable that they would stand behind their work. We talked to a few other companies as we decided, and by far Westside Heating was the most responsive to all our questions (many companies did not return our calls), and were very patient as we made our decision. Though Westside did not offer us the lowest price, they did, in our estimation, offer us the best value, with their attention to customer service and quality. When his partner Mike came to finally install the furnace, he and his associate were very friendly and professional. They also let us know that we had a broken attic fan that could allow leaks into our house and offered to repair it for a very reasonable amount (less than a quote provided by a roofer). They were concerned because rain was predicted for the weekend and so squeezed us in the next day to make sure we didn't get leaked on. They also offered us a very generous labor warranty package. We are delighted with Westside Heating and would recommend them to anyone.

Ron came out and took time to explain what we needed and why, especially since we want to build out the house in a couple of years. Out of three quotes his was right in the middle. Once hired he did a thorough walk around for vent placement and then they started work a few days later. His crew came in and worked like a well oil machine. There isn't much more to say...they came in took care of business without any hassle or drama and left behind a solid working unit.

He did not charge extra for checking my other furnace or doing the other extra work. I am extremely impressed with him. He measured the rooms to find the right sized heater, which was important.
Description of Work: Mike replaced our old furnace that had burned out. He then inspected the other furnace and changed the filters and also put in an extention so that the house would not get a green mark on it.

+ -1 moreThe owner, Ron, came to my house to give me an estimate and was very thorough in looking things over in my attic. He took pictures and spent time explaining to me how the new system would work. He told me that I didn't need new ducts, that they were fine, which I thought was very good of him to tell me. I ended up replacing the ducting because I wanted the whole system to be new but appreciated very much his honesty. There were a couple of occasions where I called him up to ask him questions and he was good at taking the time to talk to me. The installers, his partner Mike and Matt showed up on time, were tidy, professional and friendly and very pleasant to be around. After the installation, Ron contacted me a couple of times because he wanted to make sure I was happy with everything. After this installation, I had new insulation put in my attic and one of the installers accidentally tilted a drain pan that attached to the air conditioning system. When the system automatically shut itself off as a result, Ron came out to my home and at no charge, fixed the problem. I am very happy with the Trane system and recommend this company highly.
Description of Work: I had a central air conditioning and heating system that was over 20 years old and it was not very effective so I had Westside replace them with a new Trane air conditioner and heating system along with brand new ducts. They also installed an attic fan.

They are courteous, intelligent, punctual and follow through above and beyond what is necessary. A throw back to a time in America where people cared about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction. I am beyond thrilled and no more heat "brain meltdowns". The system is just right, quiet, unobtrusive, easy to operate, and effective. The guys came in and had the job finished a day before estimated. They were all terrific, and to make it even more of a win, they bid below other companies we consulted. I am also noticing some relief in my asthma and allergies and a smell of freshness in the house. We have two dogs. Cooking and entertaining is easier, quality of life WAY improved. Ask my friends. I keep talking about it.

Since the install of my system Westside Heating always remind me when it is time for my service, since the install I have had maintenance on my system each year, when they service my system they are always ontime and neat about there work...I would recommend Westside Heating to anyone that wants to replace any heating system in there home, there prices are the best also. When Ron Wrinkleman came to give me an estimate, I could tell immediately that he was very experienced and knowledgeable about the various brands of systems. He was patient with me, answered all my questions, even the "dumb" ones. I chose this company because he designed the system that would fit this house and my needs and I felt confident that his company would do a good job. I particularly liked the fact that this company does the job and does not subcontract out , except for the electrical and asbestos abatement, of course. The day we set for the beginning, Ron came out initially with his partner, Mike, to do a walk-through to make sure we were all on the same page. Once they started, they worked like a well oiled machine. It was amazing. They were professional, pleasant , respectful, got down to business and were extremely neat. I was really impressed. For all that work It took them only six days total including inspections. They left me with all the brochures on the new equipment and they do the maintenance on the equipment. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone and I would definitely employ them again.

The system is 16.0 seer system; Harmony matching non bypass three zone control board; Lennox discharge air sensor; three Honeywell focus pro 6000 digital thermostats; three Honeywell ARD round motorized dampers; necessary voltage wiring for zoning system; high efficiency MERV 10 house media air filter; two pvc flues for condensing gas furnace; new stainless steel gas connector with safety shut-off valve;heavy duty appliance power cord; properly sized set of refrigeration lines with 3/4" wall insultube; precast pad for condenser to rest on; rubber vibration isolators for condenser to rest on; condensation primary drain line; condensation drain emergency pan; condensation drain safety switch; condensation drain dry walll and enclosure rim; six new bar type return air grilles; added another large return in hallway; one new return grille downstairs; one new supply grille downstairs; seven new air supply grilles upstairs; two new grilles for existing supply downstairs; new air ducts R-6 rated Mylar flexible, duct straps. Westside HVAC had to replace the old old furnace in the basement with the new one with a return system. They had come up from underneath the first floor through the floor in the hall closet with the supply air duct up into the attic, seal it all tight, ceiling and floor. They also had to cut a larger hall return through the closet wall. It is in a nook in the hallway and no one notices it is even there! They had to cut new supply vents in the ceilings of the upstairs: two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and den, which used to a one car garage and then lay all the air ducts in the attic to attach to the new grilles. Then they had to seal off the old grille in the bathroom and leave the outside hall side as a return, replacing those grilles with new ones. They had to come in through the crawl space between the two foundation walls of the upstairs and downstairs ( I live on a hillside) to cut the extra supply and return vents on the upper wall downstairs and replace new grilles on the air supply in the other side of the room and bathroom. They had to install the condenser on the other side of the garage and run the electrical and refrigeration coil, etc. through the ceiling of the garage to the meter box on the side of the house. I added an attic fan that comes on automatically at 105 degrees. They had to install that. I had two new circuit breakers added, one for the new furnace and one for the condenser. The new furnace has two return air entrances also. They brought in the electrician, the asbestos abatement team, provided mechanical and electrical permits and testing.
