I have just had my AC/Heater package unit replaced by Westside Heating and I couldn?t be happier. Ron, Mike, and his team did an outstanding job. They were fast, courteous, neat, and professional every step of the way. They installed a new Trane system and replaced the return, provided all new grills, discarded my old system (which was on the roof) and remounted the new one in a better spot. They even installed a much needed attic fan. Their price was fair, and I know having met them that should anything happen down the line, they would stand by their work. I would enthusiastically recommend them for any and all HVAC work, and would certainly go to them again without hesitation should I need any other work in the future. Thanks guys!

From the moment we first met Ron till the guys who did the installation left, the whole process couldn't have gone more seamlessly. We called Westside after our original contractor botched the second floor furnace installation by putting in a useless 60% furnace when it was supposed to be a 95%. Westside came to the rescue and at the same time put in a whole new Carrier 95% heating/AC system to replace our 40 year old one on the first floor. Work was completed on time as per original estimate in an extremely professional manner by a great crew. I wholeheartedly recommend Westside - they are the guys to use if you want the job done right the first time. And by the way, our heating and AC is incredible!

Ron came to our house, assessed the situation, and explained the options very clearly. He later sent a detailed proposal, which we felt was clearly superior to that of a competitor (including higher-quality equipment). The work lasted three days and was done timely and with minimal disruption. The team was very professional and friendly. We are very happy with the results and will continue to work with this company for our heating/AC needs.
Description of Work: Replaced and upgraded our heating/AC system, creating two zones. This included improvements in the existing ducts to accommodate the new equipment and achieve a more balanced air flow across the house.

Westside Heating and Air Conditioning, the entire team, were professional, polite, and prompt. I first called Westside after two earlier bids for a replacement furnace. Those bids were far apart: One was a lower invoice by an A-rated Angie?s List, long established, HVAC company (I'll call them ?Company X?). Their prices were B rated. The other was a high bid by a small company (?Company Y?) 40 miles away, highly recommended by a friend with multiple properties and a penchant for good deals. In my research on-line, I did not learn enough to judge them on their proposals and specifications. I needed a third bid. I found Westside Heating as a local, A-rated company on Angie?s List. I read some of the reviews of Westside, and I liked what I heard. I called for an appointment and was told they were a small company, booked for several weeks and focused on serving their already scheduled clients. They offered to call back when available and did. Ron arrived on time, was professional and focused, asked the right questions, and explained his observations. We needed to replace the original gravity furnaces in our 70-year-old home. One question we had was where to build the ?return,? which is the visible grill and duct for the forced air system. Gravity furnaces have no ?return.? Company X never mentioned it. Company Y wanted to install the grill in the primary wall of the front entryway. My wife wanted it around the corner in a smaller corridor, where the grill was not visible in the entryway. Ron said that would work just fine and it has. Westside?s bid was in the middle of the other two. They also gave us options to consider. They answered my questions. Mike and Ron exuded confidence, skill, cooperation and knowledge. I trusted them. They did not disappoint; they delivered. I recommend Westside Heating wholeheartedly. ?Earl Ellis

I was very happy with Westside Heating and Air Conditioning and am happy to recommend them. Ron and Mike and the whole crew were great. They were all very professional throughout the process, with both Ron and Mike helping me determine which condenser and air filtration system to go with, to the actual installation by Mike and his team. They were very punctual and worked in a very clean, orderly and efficient manner. They were very careful to protect my white carpet in my bedroom, which they had to access in order to get to the attic crawl space. While it has not been hot enough to use the a/c yet, they did, of course, test it before they finished. Now I am no longer dreading a hot summer.
Description of Work: Westside installed Air Conditioning to an existing forced air system that had never had a/c before. They also installed a high efficiency Merv 16 air filter and a new thermostat.

I called to get a quote and the office staff was very accomodating with my schedule. Mike came to my house to discuss options and what I would need based upon the size of my house, which is only 800 sq. ft. I already new the minimum rating of system I would need from my own research and as soon as Mike said the same thing I knew I was in good hands. Years ago I quoted a full new system and almost everyone tried to upsell me on the size needed, etc. which Mike never did. They installed a 3 ton Heating/AC Trane unit with all new ducts, gas line to the unit, thermostat, vents, return, etc. They were very clean with their work, on time and very responsive to my questions. The office staff is awesome as well - very informative and always kept me up to date on scheduling, etc. I requested that the unit be very quiet and without vibration since my house tends to be sensitive to street truck vibration and things. Mike suggested a quieter system from the basic one I needed and also that they do custom rubber vibration mounts to prevent any possible vibration/noise from coming trough my roof. It came our AWESOME. I cannot ever tell when the unit kicks on - heat or AC. I have to stand under a vent to even know it is on - LOVE IT! I knew Westside was the vendor I wanted so I waited for the opening in their schedule to free up and I am very glad I did - so be patient people - you will be happy you were.
Description of Work: Mike and his team; Matt and Jay, removed my ancient wall furnace that had finally broke, and installed a complete HVAC system. Because of the lack of attic space Mike spec'd a on the roof single unit for the AC and heat.

I found Westside Heating and Air Conditioning from Angie's List and i am really glad I did! Over the years, before I found Westside, I suffered through maintenance/repair contracts with other well-known heating/ac companies, put up with their rude office staff and their always changing service/repair persons with questionable skills and experience. Westside's professionalism was very much appreciated. i dealt with Ron, Mike, and John. They were all unfailingly polite, skilled, professional, on-time and in-budget. No surprises. They were accommodating to my hectic schedule and never high pressure. Mike and Ron patiently answered by questions and explained the details. These guys do the work themselves and really care about providing a quality product and installation. Westside Heating and Air Conditioning is a real gem!
Description of Work: They replaced an old gas heat/ac system with a new Trane heat/ac unit, including a new thermostat and compressor. They arranged for a crane to remove the old compressor and place the new one on our roof. They removed an old vent pipe and installed a new one. Mike crawled beneath our house to inspect the ductwork. (And, he did that without hesitation or complaint in contrast to a representative from another heating/ac company!)

A+ TWO THUMBS UP!! I have lived in my house for 17 years. The multitude of repairs ? new roof, new plumbing, sewer line back-ups, tree removals ? have all had varying degrees of nightmares associated with them. My experience with Westside Heating is the first instance where everything went right. Outstanding customer service from the estimate through the installation. No nightmares! The original Holly furnace in my home which was built in 1959 finally died and wearing 2 sets of sweats and extra blankets could not block out the bone chilling cold nights. I made calls to 5 highly rated heating companies from Angie?s List. One never called me back. The next said he?d call me back to schedule an appointment to come out and he never made that second call (a complaint echoed by others on Angie?s List). The third and fourth came out. Both charged me for the estimate. Number three had a very low bid ? said my duct work did not need to be replaced and the unit to be installed was very negatively reviewed when I researched it. Actually, the duct work contained asbestos and was damaged from re-roofing work, so it had to be removed. Number four tried to get me to sign that very day and I didn?t like the high pressure push considering the expense I was going to undertake. Westside Heating was the fifth company I contacted. Their telephone response time was excellent. I got a call back within the day. I had to wait a few days for the home appointment due to the fact that it was freezing in Los Angeles and there was high demand for services. Ron Winkleman, one of the owners, called the day of the appointment to confirm his arrival time. The inspection was very thorough ? about 1 ½ hours. He answered all of my many questions about why my furnace had died, the options for a new system, incorporation of an air conditioning system. He was very patient with my ?cross-examination?, if you will. We discussed various heating units, the pros and cons of each. We agreed he would send me a written estimate which outlined all of my various options. I received very detailed estimates for three different replacement options within a few days, along with brochures of the elements I would be installing in my home. The bid was competitive with the ?high pressure? company?s bid. The day before the install, Ron told me he was going to add a vent to my bathroom which did not have any duct work and was only going to charge me for the materials (a nominal charge). Ron told me that an outside company would be removing the duct work. I received a prompt call to schedule the removal. The technicians were prompt, courteous and efficient. I had recently installed new hardwood floors throughout my house and they covered the floors with dropcloths for complete protection. I left the house while the asbestos was being removed. Near the end of the job, I got a call that I could return home. At the conclusion of the job, they removed all debris from my property. The next day, the Westside crew (Ron?s brother, Mike; Ron?s son, Matt; and Jay) came to install new duct work and the heating unit. They were also on time, courteous and efficient for the two day installation. Again, they answered my many questions as the installation progressed. They removed all debris from the job, sweeping and vacuuming inside and taking away all trash, equipment boxes, etc. At the end of the installation, I was given thorough instructions on how to use the system and how and when to replace the filters. Ron called the next day to see if I had any further questions or concerns. He called a week later to make sure everything was running properly. My family and I are now ?warm? and couldn?t be happier with our experience with Westside Heating.

It went well and I would recommend, Westside Heating and Air Conditioning.
Description of Work: I called to request a proposal. Made an appointment with Ron the owner. Ron arrived on time and proceeded to view the space where the current (no longer operating) heater was installed. He took pictures of the current heater and how it was installed. Next day he e-mailed a proposal, which I accepted and we set a date for installation. Two men arrived on the installation date and worked all day to remove the old heater and to install the new heater. They were very clean and did a fine job on the new installation. The next day they completed the installation by noon and turned on the heater. It worked fine and there has been no problem to date.

I called Westside in January to get an estimate. They were very busy and concerned they wouldn't be able to help in a timely manner and leave us "out in the cold". As we don't spend a lot of time in that part of the house, it' wasn't too much of an issue. Ron came, looked at the unit, and even went into the crawlspace to check the connections there, which the other companies did not do (the connection was a bit askew, which would impact the work and price replacing it). I received the estimate via e-mail, printed a copy, signed it and mailed it back to them. Matt and Jay showed up this morning, during the time period arranged, and replaced the unit without the need of patching around it, went into the crawlspace to replace/fix the connection and replaced the thermostat in a couple of hours. They were neat and very careful about laying down drop cloths where they were working. My entire family is very happy with the job done!

I called several HVAC contractors to bid on replacing my existing split system furnace and A/C. Ron, Mike and their team are a pleasure to work with - straight talking, no bs kind of guys. You can tell a lot about a contractor based on how they bid a project. I got multiple bids from contractors on Angies List and other sources. Westside's proposal was the most complete and thorough of any that I received, with model and serial numbers for every component they were going to install. The other guys sent me proposals saying they would install a Lennox, Trane, etc, but no model or serial number (red flag). Westside was the only contractor that thought it would be a good idea to measure the dimensions of the install space, and the access to it. The other guys bid equipment that wouldn't even fit into the install space, and nobody except Westside realized a crane was required to get the equipment to where it needed to be. And while the other guys' starting point was how much money (budget) I was willing to give to them, Ron at Westside was more interested in the specing the right equipment for my house. On installation day, Mike (Ron's partner) arrived on time as agreed, crane and all. He explained what they were planning to do in great detail, and he welcomed my input throughout the entire installation, which I appreciated very much. Westside completed the install in a very professional and neat manner, leaving my house clean after they were done. Because of the completeness of their original bid, there were no surprises or change orders during the install. Ron and Mike are proud of their workmanship and it shows in their installation. I received a call from Ron about a week and a half later to make sure that I was satisfied with everything, which I appreciated. I would use Westside again in the future, and recommend them without reservation. Call Westside after you've talked to everyone else, and you will see the difference. They are not the cheapest guys on the block, but as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Westside Heating & Air Conditioning is the BEST. At the beginning our recent very cold spell my 40 year old heater stopped working. I called three different companies for estimates. When Ron Winkelman from Westside Heating & Air Conditioning came to my house, a two story heating nightmare, he explained that a new heater/AC was in order and gave me my options. His solutions were thoughtful, practical and the estimate was fair and complete. On closer inspection it was discovered that I also needed a new roof which had to be finished before the heat and air conditioning could be installed. The new system was to take one week to install, during that time the temperature dropped, there was ice on the roof, the wind blew, a crane had to used to put the new system on the roof and it rained on and off! Through it all Westside Heating & Air Conditioning was at my house completing the job. The crew couldn't have been better, on time, neat, efficient and cleaned up at the end of each day. When the job was finished I had heat and air conditioning, my house has never been so warm or cool. Westside Heating & Air Conditioning is the BEST I would definitely recommend them.

I have always been skeptical and weary of hiring HVAC contractors because of a bad experience I had with my first home. Not any more. As of now I have someone in my address book that I have the confidence to reuse and to recommend to friends and family. That person is Ron from Westside Heating & Air. I got estimates from five HVAC companies (technically four, Costco was very difficult to arrange an estimate appointment with, so we never actually met up). My biggest concern was whether or not I could communicate comfortably with the contractor. The bigger companies send a sales person. They are typically knowledgable, but seem unconcerned about the existing situation. No matter how many times I wanted to show or discuss the problems I wanted to solve, they would just show me the price list and say it would solve everything. I wasn't looking for a McDonald's meal here, I wanted gourmet! As I began to lose hope, I met with a local HVAC contractor. His claims of busyness were impressive, but what I liked the most was his interest in the current installation. He and I talked at length about efficiency options and zoning and even moving the unit in the attic. He did what the other larger companies did not do. He walked around the house and wanted to solve the problems. The sticking point was that he was a lone contractor who did not have a steady crew. I don't like that idea. He also gave me no impression that he would actually be there during the installation. His quote was the least expensive, but It was really unclear in the estimate what he would actually be doing (red flag). During this process I signed up for Angie's list. I wanted to see if I could have more luck with suggestions rather than using the yellow pages. That is where I found Ron. Our meeting was very similar to the other local contractor. Ron was very concerned about solving the current heating problems and was also a proponent of moving the unit into the large attic space. He was also the only contractor to go in the attic and inspect the existing ductwork. because of this we discovered that much of the ductwork was leaking, uninsulated, or just plain undersized for what the house needed. I felt very comfortable with Ron and because of this I was able to pick his brain about the options that were available to me. The surprising thing was that Ron's estimate was not the most expensive of the lot, and his estimate included new ductwork, zoning, and moving to the attic. These three items were either not available with the other estimates or added up to $5000 to the price (moving to the attic). Hopefully Ron doesn't read this, he might think he charged me too little. His estimate fell right in the middle of the estimates I received, but he was doing what I wanted him to do. That was it, getting what I wanted, the right price, a contractor I felt comfortable working with, SOLD. OK, let me try to make this long story shorter. After sending Ron a deposit we came up with a schedule for installation. To save money I opted to do some of the prep work myself (220v electrical feed to condenser unit, moving the attic access from a bedroom to the hallway (code requirement), running 110v furnace power to attic, and a couple odds and ends). Ron and I connected and he drove me downtown (El Segundo) to apply for the permit. We had to determine where the condenser unit would go and the city had to approve. Ron got the permit and the next Monday he and his crew started. Now this point can't be brushed under the carpet. Ron's crew is one of the main reasons I hired him. It consists of Ron, his partner Mike, and Ron's son. He uses the same crew all of the time, and for obvious reasons they know each other and work well together. My father and father-in-law were integral in helping because I was working during the install. They were there to supervise and answer questions. Both of these men are notoriously difficult to please. They both admitted that they were impressed with the work being done. My father-in-law stated that he wished he had used Ron for his system installation. That put a smile on my face. The job was finished and Ron and I scheduled the final inspection. A sign-off with several complimentary statements from the inspector made the whole process a pleasure. One of the benefits to having Ron on my side (and a contractor should be a teammate not an opponent) was his ability to befriend everybody. Having him call the local inspectors and connect with them on a personal level make the whole process very smooth. He makes everybody happy to work with him. Most importantly, though, my house has never felt more comfortable. This is one project that I can cross off the list and know that I have no regrets.
Description of Work: The job entailed removing the existing gas furnace from a hallway closet and replacing it with a more efficient furnace in the attic. We also added A/C which of course required adding a condenser unit outside. Because of the existing system's poor distribution, all of the ductwork in the attic was removed and replaced. The downstairs ducting was enhanced to address poor heating. Besides the noise reduction with the new unit in the attic, we also ZONED the house so that the warm/cold air is more evenly distributed between the upstairs and downstairs. After almost a month of heating with the new unit, I am (and more importantly, my wife is) very happy. I can't wait for another unusually warm summer to try out the A/C. The brands we opted for were as follows: Lennox variable speed 80% efficiency furnace with Lennox zoning (I'll get the model numbers later) Carrier A/C coil Carrier Slimline 13 SEER condenser unit Honeywell thermostats (2)

Without Ron and his team we would be freezing during Thanksgiving. Our old gravity furnace had finally conked out. During his busiest season, he worked to make sure that we would have heat for the holidays. In addition to answering all our long-winded questions with patience, he provided the best price of all the other heating/ac companies. We live in a big historic house and it was important for us to make sure that unnecessary costs would be controlled. He provided us with an excellent zone heating and air-conditioning system. Now the system turns on when we only need it in different sections of our house. Our house is warmer than ever but our bill was 1/4 of what is was last December. In addition, we didn't need to spend extra footwork finding an abestos remover and electrician, His recommendations were also very afforable and communicated well with us and him. Finally, I'm pleased that Ron knew how the inspection system works and headed of any problems that could have happened way in advance so that the finally inspection was a breeze. Thanks to Westside our house is cozy

Started leaving messages at 7 a.m. Mike called around 9:30 to say that he had come in to work to catch up but that he would try to get to us when he figured out his schedule. He called back later to say that he could make it and he arrived at 1. As usual, he quickly identified the problem and had the part on hand. We were delighted to have heat for the holiday....it had been 59 degrees and below in our house.
Description of Work: Our heater was not working since late Friday. Monday was New Year''s Eve and most people had the day off.

Through Angie's List, I randomly called Westside Heating based off of their reviews and proximity to my home. Surprisingly, i discovered that they were the original installers of my central furnace back in 1998 by the previous homeowner. Due to this fact and their politeness and professionalism on the phone, I had them come out to inspect my furnace which was working inconsistently. Mike quickly discovered the problem within a matter of minutes on a Thursday. He ordered the replacement part, which arrived the next day from the manufacturer. Once they got the part, Mike came back Monday morning and fixed the heater in about 45 minutes. They are a small company, but the owners are the ones doing the work. Personally, I like this, so I would definitely call them again if I needed to.
Description of Work: Our central furnace was not working correctly and turned on intermittently.

Thorough and professional, I will definitely use Ron and Westside for any future HVAC needs.
Description of Work: Ron personally came to my house to present me with options to replace an outdated system. He did a thorough inspection of my house and gave me multiple options for a new heating system. His crew, including his son, showed up on time and quickly installed the new system and were very thorough and professional throughout the entire process.

We have used Ron and company for about two years now. High winds took down a power line in our yard, which caused an electrical fire and took out almost every appliance in our house, including our furnaces. It was the coldest week of the year, and I had a three-month-old and no heat. I called a bunch of different companies to try to get someone out to take a look at our furnaces, the best I could get was a promise to come out in two days. When I called Westside and explained our situation, all of their folks were booked for the afternoon, but they told me that they'd call out to the field and see if they could fit us in. They called me back in a few minutes, and told me that someone would be at my house in an hour. Basically, they came over after hours to fix our heaters because we they knew we really needed help with the baby. They fixed our heaters in under an hour, and saved us from having to move out of our house until we had heat. We have used them for all of our heating issues since, and for annual service. Most recently, we had a small water line in our kitchen burst (yes, we are apparently prone to house catastrophe). In dealing with that ensuing mess, we had to flip all of our breakers and somehow managed to take out our upstairs furnace. Ron came out at 7 in the morning, and fixed it quickly. As usual, he was friendly, courteous, professional, and fast. We'll be calling them again for our annual furnace service in the spring!
Description of Work: Checked on and reset a broken upstairs furnace.

We have recently renovated a "fixer" and I think Ron and Westside Heating is one of the best companies I worked with for the entire remodel. They were thoroughly professional, explained everything, were punctual, easy to communicate with, and his entire team were stellar. I also compared pricing and found that he was fair and competitive. Everything went smoothly and easily. I know have a new, slimline air conditioner, and everything else, such as the ducts and filter, etc., have been upgraded and repaired. They are the best!
Description of Work: Replaced old air conditioning system. Fixed frayed ducts. Updated entire system.

Mike arrived punctually and gave a thorough inspection with full explanation of required work. All questions were answered. His estimate appeared in my email inbox the next day. Further questions were promptly answered and work was scheduled to begin the following week. Mike and his team arrived as scheduled and quickly and methodically replaced the old unit, modified ductwork, and cleaned up the mess, hauling off the debris. Prior to departure, he gave an in-service explanation/demonstration of the new thermostat to my daughter, the occupant of the condo. Mike assured me that Westside will provide complete service, parts and labor, for the next 12 months...real peace of mind for parents 2000 miles away!

We purchased our a/c unit from Westside several years ago and have been extremely happy with our purchase. During one of the recent hot spells we turned on the air conditioner and something wasn't quite right. We called, described the problem and the owner Ron knew exactly what the problem was and had it fixed the next day. I appreciate his knowledge and the quick service. No hassle, quick service and the problem was solved at a reasonable price. Can't ask for more.
