Westside Heating & Air Conditioning

This was my first connection with Westside. It was communicative, and courteous from the start with John being permanently in the office to answer the phones and sort out the request for work. He made an effort to see if the work could be done that day, but it was already about noon. So we set up for the next day. Which was fine...it was not an emergency. Mark (? I forget names) arrived early in the time frame promised. He introduced himself and was very communicative and courteous. We carefully reviewed the problem. He went up on the roof and found that previous workers (a painter or electrician that had done work weeks ago) had pulled the fuse block and just left it on the roof. Apparently we had not used the A/C in a while. He put that back in then thoroughly checked the system. He then reviewed the history of my system and checked out the basic items that might need attention. He also instructed me on the need for thermostat batteries and the furnace filter timer - I do my own filter changes. Finally I was given a detailed bill and I discussed future periodic maintenance. I would like to have Westside do the work, and any repairs as the experience was excellent. Also I felt I got a good value for my money. It was a decent amount of time and attention and much appreciated.

My experience with Ron (co-owner) and his team was fantastic. It began with Ron visiting my home and thoroughly inspecting the existing system that I had at the time. Ron made the necessary calculations and provided me a variety of options, each of which he explained at a level that made sense to me (I am not a heating-A/C expert). He was clearly more knowledgeable about creating efficient zoned heating than the others I interviewed for the job, and his cost was reasonable. It took two days to install the system, just as he predicted, and the cost was exactly as he had bid it. Mike (co-owner) headed the installation team and was fantastic. The team arrived on time and great care was taken to protect my carpets, walls, etc. There was no subcontracting of any of the work. The installation team also included Matt (Ron?s son) and Jay. Mike made sure that I understood how to use the wireless digital controls and answered all of my questions. I also appreciated the follow-up calls that I received, checking to ensure that I was content with everything, which I certainly was (and am). While I am two years late in writing this review, it has given me two years to experience the system they installed and report here that it has performed flawlessly. Before the system was installed, the main floor was always 3-5 degrees cooler than the top floor. Now both floors are efficiently maintained at the same temperature (they are on different zones and so have individual controls). In addition, my daughter?s room is on a zone by itself, which allows her to independently control the room temperature with her own wireless digital thermostat. Her room is not large and I have noticed no appreciable gas cost increase due to her keeping the room very warm all year round. The heater, combined with the Harmony Zoning System, is automatically used in a very intelligent/efficient manner. In addition, it is a much quieter heater than I had previously. Lastly, the wireless digital thermostats are simple to use but powerful in the flexibility they provide. In summary, Westside Heating & A/C are consummate professionals who provide phenomenal service at a reasonable cost. If you want a zoned system that efficiently maintains your entire home at a uniform temperature, or wildly different if you so choose, I highly recommend that you look no further, Ron and his team are the answer.

Ron and his son showed up promptly and gave me a better price than the other heating contractors who had said the job was more complicated than it really was, therefore more expensive. Westside heating replaced the old heater with an American made one and left the job site clean. I will definitely use them again.

Ron, one of the owners came to meet me at my new house project. We walked through the house, discussed the type of system I wanted and he made recommendations on how the system would be installed to meet the specific needs of the building. Ron is very knowledgeable and hands on, the sort of professional a first time home builder or homeowner can trust to do the job right the first time. There was a minor issue that needed follow up on the system and Ron came to take care of the work and did a great job. If you are considering a repair of an existing HVAC system or new, I would recommend Westside Heating without reservation. I met a few other companies on Angie's List for HVAC, but felt confident in Westside's approach and the fact that they are close by. Ron's additional crew who worked on the installation were also first rate.

Ron is great. Did a lot of explaining on how the current heating of the home could be improved to provide a more consistent temperature throughout the house. He reviewed all of my options that included pros and cons plus approximate pricing and warranties. He really wanted to make sure I felt comfortable with my choice and had absolutely no questions before he left to prepare the final estimate. His estimate was in line with other estimates I had received but it was the professionalism, experience and long history of being in business in our area that made the decision to go with Westside. The installation was scheduled to take two days which it did. Everyone showed up when they said they would be there. They are very skilled at what they do. I looked at what had to be done with almost all of the work having to be done in the attic and couldn't believe this could be done in two days. I was surprised! Very efficient and explained everything to me as they were completing various tasks of the installation. They put tarps down on all of the floor areas where they were working and at the end of the first day they throughly cleaned everything up. You wouldn't have known they were there that day. At the end of day two the work was done. Still can't believe it. They explained everything again just to make sure I was comfortable on how to set the thermostat (we use almost every feature on it). Today we enjoy a very comfortable temperature in our home, and unlike before, it really is the same temperature in every room. That's because Ron really wanted to understand my concerns about temperature variances throughout the house and he solved that problem for us. Ron is a great person. He is very sincere and genuine. And he is a really great Heating and Air Conditioning specialist and the employees are wonderful.

Ron came out promptly and looked at our system. He gave us several options and detailed the costs of each. He seemed very experienced and knowledgeable. We liked the fact that this was a local business (also a family business) with long-time employees; licensed, insured, and bonded; and had received very good reviews on Angie's List. We felt confident in Ron's recommendations re: the type of heating system for our home. When we agreed to purchase the system, Ron scheduled the installation. Mike, Matt, and Jay came out for the installation. They were prompt, professional, and accommodating. They trained us on the operation of the new system and answered all of our questions. Ron handled the permit process professionally and the job passed inspection very smoothly. We highly recommend the team at Westside Heating.

Westside plumbing and heating replaced my old wall heater. I checked Angies list and found them. They were a local company that had great reviews. I agree with the reviews. I got the estimate the same day I called. Two days later they came and did the work. Excellent in all aspects. I will definitely call again as I know I will also need plumbing work in the future. First in a nutshell (more detailed review below.) Mike came on time, performed the task flawlessly, his technical skills were obvious, the best I have seen (I am an engineer.) He also noticed a broken PVC condensate pipe, which he replaced and repaired at no charge. He left the place clean and tidy both inside and out. I would recommend him heartily, and we will use his services in the future. We asked for three other estimates, they all would have replaced the ducts (all the ducts, in and outside the house!) Of course this is a very expensive job. None of the others measured airflow in the existing ducts. Mike knew how to do this and actually drilled two holes (one in the source and one in the return ducts) and by measuring the temperature difference he could measure the airflow. This is good technical knowhow. Instead of replacing all the ducts, he proposed installing dampers in various ducts to make the air go where it was not going before. This was a much less expensive fix both in parts and labor. He saved us thousands of dollars. He was very honest with us and did not fix what did not need fixing. For example, he did not replace the AC/heating unit because he estimated it may live for a few more years. It is clear he wanted to do the best work for a reasonable expense. His company gets my highest rating: A+++.

Family run business, showed on time, professional, worked steadily until job was done including cleaned up. Just in time for a cold spell.

AC would not work. I phoned Westside Heating & AC, explained the problem and provided my contact. Kathy(?), in the office, politely informed me she would try to take care of me today. Within thirty-nine minutes, Mike rang and assured me he would arrive shortly. Twenty minutes later Mike arrived. With 25 plus years experience under his belt, Mike wasted no time getting busy. He swiftly began troubleshooting. Tools in hand he found no power to the unit. I walked him to the circuit breakers and he flipped the breaker. Power to the unit was restored, fan blew, but no cool air. Not yet. Mike wisely retrieved his gauges and checked the FREON PESSURE. The gauges registered 500psi! Optimum should be between 200psi and 290psi. The jackasses who previously serviced the unit, not having Mike's 25 plus years of experience, failed to thoroughly inspect the unit and thereby foolishly raised the freon to dangerous levels putting the compressor, unit, and home in jeopardy. As Mike deftly corrected their amateur error he explained the unit was not functioning as a direct result of its freon level hovering at 500psi. Normal level restored. Mike checked and re-checked his work, the unit and the accompanying furnace, return and filter inside. Throughout the restoration we talked shop and had a couple laughs without Mike breaking his stride. Real pro. Mike gathered his equipment. I paid Mike. Mike drove away. Job well done.

Very professional, knew the product well, and did exactly what they proposed to do. Work was done excellently, area was cleaned up well afterwards. My questions were answered promptly, and follow up was quick. They even did more work than was on the proposal without charge. I was very impressed with the care and attention I received. I was going to use another angie list service provider until Westside came to provide an estimate. It was no question after I met with them, who I was going to use. So glad I chose Westside.

FANTASTIC. I'm a general contractor myself, and I've used other heating and air guys, but Ron and his guys are the best. The other folks I've used always come with complaints (it heats unevenly, it doesn't cool adequately, it makes noise, etc.). They always have call-backs. But not so with Ron and his guys. If Ron says this is what you need, and this is what we're going to do for the dollars, then its gonna work, first time and every time. The last two jobs I had, I had bids from 5 HVAC companies each, and Ron's prices are just shy of the average. He's not the cheapest and he's far from the most expensive. I've hired the cheapest (they come with problems). Ron's crew shows up on time, installs the system properly, they have all the parts to do the job, they work clean, they're all professional and respectful of the people and property, and the system works. I've never had a complaint about his work. I'm done horsing around with others. Ron's my guy from now on. . (period)

Westside Heating did a great job in installing a new heating & air system with new duct works. Ron came in and did the estimation and planning. The staff came in on schedule and finished the job on time They cleaned up the place at the end of each work day. They upgraded the thermostat when I requested to change to another one with Wi Fi capability. They tested the system completely and explained to me on the operation.

Very smooth operation. No fuss...no trouble..no drama. Total pros.

Our wall furnace was omitting carbobn monoxide. This was verified by the smoke/carbon monoxide alarm in our home. Called the Gas Co and all they did was come out and said not to use the heater(no kidding). I did call another heating company from Angies and all they did was state yes it is omitting carbon monoxide and ket on pushing for me to purchase a central heating system for well over $6000.00. I did not want that; all I wanted was to replace the wall heater. I then found Westside Heating on Angies(wish I called them first) and emailed Ron(owner) early on 12/17/2013. Ron called me back within an hour asked several questions on what type of heater I currently had and quoted a price for a new one to be installed. Ron said he would call me back with his scheduling and then said he can fit me in this morning (12/18/2013). I told Ron I was having surgery on 12/23/2013 and really wished to get this completed before that date if at all possible. Ron then called back and said that his crew will be here between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Kathy even emailed us a confirmation of that because I emailed Ron and stated that my wife and I had some things to do and would not be here to answer the phone. Matt and Jay showed up ON TIME and had the new heater installed with a thermostat in less than a couple of hours. Both Matt and Jay were true professionals, very courteous and knew what they were doing. No mess no fuss just true pros and now have a brand new heater. I would truly recommend Westside Heating to anyone who needs their type of service. I never met Ron but he was just great. This new unit was WELL below the cost of what the first Company I called quoted. And Ron and his Co never pushed something I did not want. They just provided what we desperately needed immmediately for us.The other Co was well over $700.00 more for a wall heater. I asked Ron if he took credit cards and he said Kathy will take care of that after the heater is installed and we are happy with the unit. Well, we are very happy to say the least!! Bottom line just call Rons Company and you will be well taken care of!! Very happy to say the least!! Matt and Jay deserve a Holiday Bonus!!!

Westside Heating was extremely prompt in getting back to me, even emailing on the weekend when they weren't in the office. Ron came out to give an estimate, which came in lower than the first company. He was kind enough to squeeze me in the next day. Everything went smoothly, the workers were very nice, everything left neat, and the job was done wonderfully. Definitely use again.

came on time to check out why old heater was not working. gave options of replacing circuit board or replacing old unit. Cleaned up after installation and put down material to protect marble floors from getting scratched.

Ron and his staff were polite, cheerful, and explained the details to us. Installation was on time and painless. The price was $3000 less than another estimate.

Ron came to my home and resolved issues with my furnace. These guys are extremely knowledgeable and super helpful! I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing hvac equipment or service! Thank you Ron!!!

My old A/C system died. The fan was outside and furnace A/C was in the garage at some distance away. I got two estimates as to price of finding the leak in the line and then decided that it would be much cheaper to install a new fan unit on the flat garage roof and redo the furnace. Their estimate was in line with others, they were very professional in all my communications with them, showed up on time and completed the work very quickly. I will use them again and recommend them to others

Ron, Mike, Matt and John are extremely knowledgeable, professional, efficient and price competitive. They were always on time with no-nonsense work from start to finish. I waited this long to post a review because I just recently become an Angie's List member. The installation took place in April 2011 and included all A/C and heating in my first and second levels of my house. I have had no problems with anything. Mike, one of the owners (Ron is the other), was here for my first post system inspection on 08/20/2013 and everything was working perfectly. This company should be at the top of anyone's consideration list. You can't go wrong!

westside was the second company i called via angie's list. thank heavens i decided to get a second estimate! the first company is/was running an a/c maintenance special. they changed out my filter. and also made the following recommendations: change out my existing duct work for $3200.00 re-install a/c drain line $480.00 so i called westside to get a second opinion/price quote ron from westside felt the existing duct work was fine. he said the a/c drain line could be re-installed for $100.00 thank you ron for saving me $3500.00+

Met w/Mike and went over all the specifics. Chose to go w/Westside Heating because they do the actual work; they don't subcontract the work out. They were on time, and they worked the entire time they were on the job. They also cleaned up any debris. Very pleasant, conscientious people. Ron listened to all my concerns and took time to answer all my questions. I'm very pleased w/the results.
