JJ Marble Restoration

They are very easy to do business with. They did make mistakes in applying the product, but were very agreeable to do it over and do it right. I am very happy with their work.

They came to give an estimate, returned a few days later on the date set, on time. Day one was resurfacing and day two polishing. As the work proceeded we noticed the grout was dark between the 12x12" marble pieces so asked to have all areas regrouted. The original estimate of $1200 was increased by $200 to $1400, which was well worth it considering the extra labor. When complete the floor looked like new, and all of our friends when seeing it commented on it's beauty, without exception. Well worth the investment!

UPDATE: The owner contacted me and explained the nature of the stain on the tile and how it is notpossible to remove it chemically. He offered to refund me the money because he was not able to get rid of the stain. I appreciated his follow-up and I offered to pay half for the time he worked on the tile. The owner responded promptly to my call and came out to give me an estimate. He was very professional and prompt. He indicated that his service would be able to clean our stained slate tile, update the grout and seal the tile. He gave a price that that seemed a little high ($450), but I was aware of the fact that the tile had not been cleaned in several years and was stained. He assured me that the stains would be gone after the cleaning. He said "it will look great" once he is done. I clarified whether the quote included the sink area, and he said he would clean and seal that too, no charge. He stated it would take 6 hours to complete the work. On the day of the appointment, his worker was more than 45 minutes late, which was a problem because I needed to get to work. I really wanted to be there when the worker arrived so I could confirm the work to be done. My husband was home, but he was not familiar with what I had arranged with the service. The owner (on the phone) said I couldjust leave the door open and the worker knew what to do. Sicne my husband was home, and I had a meeting to get to, I had no other choice. But the owner appeared to be detail-oriented and this is his business, so I figured my being there would not be essential. He called me after the worker arrived and said the sink area would actually be an extra $300. I said that was too much extra, and didn't have that done. That didn't sit right with me because he had said he would do the sink (small area) as part of the entire project, and then told me it would cost almost as much as the entire project to do. The sink is fairly well maintained, and had some areas with staining. I emailed the owner 5 hours later to see if the worker was done, since I did not want to come home to chemicals and workers. He said the worker had finished two hours earlier (2 hours quicked than estimated). When I arrived home, I looked in the shower and while the stains were a little cleaner, they were still evident. The grout looked good, but that wasn't the main focus of the project. I also noticed there was no chemical smell whatsoever, and the worker had even CLOSED the bathroom windows, which I had left open to ventilate the bathroom. It really didn't look like anything had been done aside from a light cleaning. I texted and emailed the owner, noting that the stains had not gone away. About a week later he texted back telling me the stains were "very deep" and the chemicals they used did not get them out. When I met with the owner to get an estimate, he appeared to be very knowledgable about the source of the stains, and very confident the stains would come out. I would not have hired someone at $450 to basically do a cleaning that either I or a regular cleaning service could have done. I was not happy that he did not offer to come back and retreat the shower. I definitely will not use this company when I need to have the tiles resealed (every year or so) or to work on any of the other tilework in our house.

Jimmy was great! He was punctual, the shower is like new now and he cleaned up thoroughly. I highly recommend JJ Marble.

A previous contractor (that I didn't get from Angie's list, shame on me), installed some marble floor tile in our bathroom, and it all came loose from the floor within a few months. After finding JJ Marble on Angie's List, I called him for an estimate. He was very knowledgeable and gave me what I considered a reasonable quote to rip out all the old tile and install new. Unfortunately, because the tile was delicate marble, it couldn't be salvaged when it was removed, so we had to buy all new tile (let this be a cautionary tale). However, that was no fault of JJ. Anyway, JJ Marble did a great job, and our new tile hasn't come loose from the floor after several months. That's a good sign! One criticism...they had to remove the toilet to do the tile work. After they reinstalled the toilet, a few days later, I notice a smell coming from the bathroom and the ceiling underneath that bathroom. I called in a plumber, and they found that a part of the toilet had been installed backwards, which was allowing gas from the sewer to come back into the house. Obviously, JJ Marble doesn't specialize in plumbing, but I knocked them one star on quality, because I had to pay a plumber to come fix the problem they had caused with the toilet. UPDATE: Several months after writing the above review, we noticed grout chipping out and some tiles seemed to be coming loose again. Called Jimmy, and asked him to come take a look at it. He checked it out and found that, indeed, some of the tiles had come loose again. He promptly scheduled a time to come and repair the problem. Jose came the next day, pulled some of the tiles up and realized that the bottoms of the tiles are too smooth, which is why they wouldn't hold. He had to apply a special glue to make sure they hold this time. Overall, Jose spent about 5 hours fixing the problem and refused to take any money for his time. Now, that's someone who stands behind his work!!

Arrived on time. Did excellent job of refinishing marble tile bathroom counters to look like new. Also, did superb job of fixing a crack in the granite in the kitchen. Fixed with epoxy but matched the epoxy to the granite to make the crack barely noticeable. Very clean. They put up plastic sheeting so that sanding does not go to other parts of house. Also, put down painters cloths for their equipment to protect floors.

J&J were prompt in providing and estimate and scheduling the work. They arrived on time, completed the work earlier than anticipated, left no mess... and my counters are completely restored!!! Absolutely beautiful work by a professional and personable team!

Fantastic! He and his crew are professional, showing up on time every day of the job, preparing the area & cleaning up every day so dust was minimal (a first for me!), and really are artisans. He cares about doing a great job and it shows. He repaired cracks in marble flooring that no one would now know are there. I interviewed several firms and from the start JJ was different. He spent time with the surfaces to understand & explain various issues; no one else did that. Having worked with previous marble restoration firms as well as other tile guys, I understand enough to know how good this firm really is. And his price is fair for the value and quality you receive. I have already referred him to a couple friends and will continue to do so. He really stands out from others I've used in the past...in a very positive way.

The job went great! First, the price quoted was very fair -- less then half of the quote we obtained though the contractor building out our suite. The crew came in the morning, picked up the granite table top and the granite for the credenza top, took it back to their shop, and brought it back the same day. They then professionally set up the table in the new suite. Both the table and the credenza look like they were custom built for the new suite! Overall, a fantastic job.

They were reasonably priced and did the work very quickly. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

The brothers arrived early with all of their equipment. They made sure to cover my wood floors first before wheeling in the cart containing all of their equipment. After they were done, they cleaned up after themselves which is really important to me. It's nice not having to clean up after work is done in my home. As for their work, it was beautiful. I never thought I'd say that about grout, but they really did an amazing job. Even using Angie's list, it was surprisingly difficult finding someone who specialized in grout and marble. They were the only guys that I called. As a result, I have no idea if their services are pricey or reasonable but they did a really great job so I am very satisfied.

They were on time, the work was immaculate, beautiful workmenship in the shower and on the terrace. I highly recommen them.

Did what they said they said they would do for the price quoted at the agreed upon time. No mess, no fuss, no drama. Hard to beat that. Pricing was considerably better than previous quote and the counter tops look great.

They were great. This is the third job they've done for me. They were punctual and neat. They are very nice young men and they've done so many jobs for me. I would recommend them to anybody. They are not cheap, but it's a good value. I would use them again the future.

It went very well. One of the marble counter tops was scratched and stained, and now is clean and gleaming. The other work also turned out well.
