Bill Walter - Locksmith

Several months ago I have two locks with two different key on my front door and I had a previous locksmith ( not listed and Angies List) replace the two separate keys with only one key for both locks. Soon after the replacement of the keys, my locks was not working fluently and my key would have to be wingled a few times to unlock my door. I searched on Angies List for locksmith and I found Bill. He was very professional, punctual and explained to me the issues with my locks. He fixed the issues promptly and I’m very satisfy with his work. Thanks Bill!

I called Bill and he was able to come out on very short notice (early on the same day) and work with my schedule. Other locksmiths I had contacted were unavailable until later in the day and would only provide a two-hour window of when they could come by, rather than a specific time. Bill describes himself as a perfectionist. Indeed he is. He didn't just rekey old locks, he made doors and keys work well. He tightened hinges and fixed tumblers and springs so that the whole door assembly worked well. He provided good overview of what would be done and explained various locks and why they should be re-keyed in the best ways possible. I think we was a tad higher priced than some deals I saw on line and in Angies List, but his services are worth it.

Bill was great. Came out on late to accommodate my work schedule. It was getting late and he even offered to come back another day to wrap up! He went out of his way to fix some other issues with the locks. Very professional.

Great. He returned my call the same morning and came that afternoon. A prior locksmith said the backdoor lock couldn't be repaired. Thankfully, I called Bill Walters. He knew exactly how to repair the back door and neatly and efficiently installed the front door lock.

He was excellent. He came on time and he was very careful, neat and tidy. He did a good job. I would definitely use him again and I would highly recommend him.

Bill Walter deserves an A+ rating for his professionalism and wonderful service. I chose Bill based on reading the Angie's List reviews. I also verified that he had the appropriate license from the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services prior to calling Bill. Bill was very responsive after I left my initial message on his phone. I told him what I needed to have done and we scheduled the appointment for 8am on 12/9/11. What he had to do took a lot of time and he didn't leave until 1:45pm and he only charged me $260 for all the work he did on the first visit. He first installed a replacement latch on a Baldwin door handle. He then removed the single-keyed Baldwin lock and replaced it with the double-keyed Baldwin lock. He also installed a security strike plate on this door at no charge because the door didn't have one orginally installed. Next he drilled a hole in another door and then installed the single-keyed Baldwin lock. When he discovered that the door was narrower than previous door, he used some of his parts as a temporary fix until he could order the correct part and return to install them. Finally, I had two doors in the front that were difficult to open and close because they were out of alignment due to the house settling. Bill was able to remove the strike plates and file both down with equipment in his truck. Then he made sure that the doors opened and closed smoothly. Two weeks later, Bill returned and installed a Baldwin spacer that he had ordered from Synder Diamond. He only charged me for the part ($18) and did not charge me any labor. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of Bill's work. He's a very pleasant, courteous, and professional. He's got everything he needs in his yellow truck & his equipment boxes. He even brings his own stool and vacumn cleaner. I will use him again and I highly recommend Bill as a locksmith.

I was hoping that Bill could re-key our whole place, both the old and the new locks, so we only have to use one key. It was a challenge. Getting all the old locks and 2 different types of new locks to all be operable with one key was not a simple thing, but Bill fortunately had all the right stuff and was able to make it work. I think If I had called anybody else, my husband and I would have keychains cluttered with extra keys. Bill was professional and thorough, even helping me understand some of the new locking systems installed on the door. He was also able to shuffle around appointments to fit our job into his busy day. I would absolutely use Bill Walter in the future and will refer him to my friends and neighbors. Definitely a good Angie's List pick.

Bill came highly recommended from a friend and he did not disappoint. He was extremely responsive, coming out first on a Saturday and spending several hours at our house. Given the complex nature of a couple locks, Bill needed to get in touch with the manufacturer. When the manufacturer could not provide sufficient help, Bill came back twice more and was able to solve the lock quandry on his own. In addition, Bill fixed several small issues with some of our door locks and he did so at no extra cost. Bill is extremely friendly and competent and I would highly recommend his services.

Bill does the work himself. No "technicians." He is a true craftsman in the best sense of the term -- calm, thoughtful and smart. He's not only good at his job but he clearly enjoys a challenge. Reasonable prices. Great service. If there was an A+ rating, he'd get it.

Bill was excellent! Bill was early (!), extremely professional, very knowledgeable and a great disposition. Almost every lock had an "issue" which Bill explained in detail and the best remedy. I would use him again in an instant....I can't recommend him highly enough.

Bill provided keys for distribution to all residents 2 weeks in advance as promised. On the scheduled day, Bill arrived on time, re-keyed the locks to work with the new keys, and even repaired a couple of the locks at no additional charge. When dealing with 22 units, there is always the potential for problems, but every key Bill provided worked flawlessly and we received ZERO complaints. I can't recommend his service highly enough.

Wow! Too bad there isn't an "A+" option for price and professionalism. Bill was here on time, very courteous and professional, and did a fantastic job. With the amount of time he had to spend on both the locks, and with the parts needed, I expected the bill to higher. We will definitely call him whenever we need a locksmith!

I was very happy withthe experience. In the hands of other locksmiths, I may have paid much more and gotten less. Bill is not only skilled and efficient, he is also ethical.

I called Bill in the morning and he was able to come over that same evening, right at the promised time. I needed locks rekeyed on my house doors and yard gates, and Bill looked at everything and was able to suggest a solution that brought the seven keys I needed up til then down to just two. He didn't charge me for the locks that were "smart-keyable" and even showed me how to re-key those myself. And he fixed a door that wasn't closing right because of a sticky latch! Overall it took about two hours and I was very pleased with the experience.

I called Bill Walter because my front doorknob wasn't working, and we could only open the door by turning the key. He came over within an hour, after dinner, and took the knob apart, replaced the stripped metal piece inside, (he had to cut down a metal part he had in his truck to make it fit) and put it all back together in excellent shape. Then he fixed a broken privacy lock in the powder room, and a knob with a bent screw, and all this in the most helpful and kind way, keeping me informed as to what he was doing throughout. His price for his work was reasonable, and I would certainly hire him again.

UPDATE 5/9/11: We noticed that one of the latches Bill worked on last month had stopped working properly so we gave him a call. He came to us same-day and, true to his guarantee, fixed the problem at no additional charge. What more could you ask for? We just moved into a new home and hired Bill to change our locks based on his terriffic Angie's List ratings and glowing reviews, and I'm happy to report that he exceeded our expectations. Not only was he great at explaining how our locks worked and what he was doing, but he also went above and beyond to fix mistakes that the previous owners had made when installing some of the locks. He even opened a locked personal fire safe that we lost the keys to years ago at no extra charge. We highly recommend Bill to anyone needing locksmith services, and we'll happily use him the next time we need someone.

Bill was fantastic and went above and beyond call of duty. It was a Saturday when he came to fix the front door.. Some parts were missing so he put in a temporary fix until he could get back on Monday. Then noticed a another pieces missing and called the lock company directly to see if they had the part, which they then sent to him. I would highly recommend his services
