Description of Work: I placed my big Deal order on 7/26/13, Booked and confirmed with service provider an appointment for Aug. 20th. No show from provider. I emailed them asking status of arrival. The provider explained personal problems. I understood and booked a second appointment for Aug. 27th which was confirmed via email. Again no show from service provider. Again,I sent an email asking what happened to our scheduled appointment he said in error logged my appointment incorrectly on his schedule. I don't have confidence in this service provider.

Description of Work: Came to my location, asked for nothing, took charge of the job met and exceeded my expectations. Even the owner of the company personally called me to insure my satisfaction. Aside from the great deal and good service I found what I was looking for.... A qualified and reliable company to come to my location and professionally detail my luxury vehicle for a fair price.

Description of Work: I called to set up an appointment with Mike (i believe). The appointment was to be at my home at 11:30, so I had to leave work to meet and pay them. I arrived at my house before 11:30. I waited until 12 and still nobody showed or called. I called Mike to find out when I could expect someone. He apologized and told me he would find out what the hold up was, and he would call me right back. I waited another 30 minutes, until 12:30, and he still didn't call me back. I called him again, but he let my call go to voicemail. I then had to return to work. I never heard back from him. When I called back days later, he told me that he showed up to the house and I was not there, putting the blame on me, when in actuality, I was there before my appointment time, waited over an hour, was told I would receive an update call which never came, and then was put to voicemail when I tried to call back. They were very unprofessional, and not what I would expect from an Angie's List related company.

Description of Work: as above. I may have "misunderstood" the ad for $75 for $150 "worth of detail" car. Then told that would only cover outside of car and $250 for "total" car. Agreed to outside only for the $75. Failed to show 11:30am appointment 5/17. We called and told "on the way, in traffic". 3 hours later at about 2:15 they texted had "turned around on fwy as too much traffic". One doesn't turn around on freeway. No accident tying up traffic reported on website for 405 fwy those hours in his area, etc. Prefer not to deal under these circumstances. No problem with Angie's list itself which I use often........every now and then bad apple.

Description of Work: My wife got me the detail package for Christmas. I had emailed Starr Detail and said if it was possible to do the work in march, I did get a prompt reply and a yes. late February I email Starr Detail to do the work on March 2nd Starr Detail replied that they were booked on weekends until April, I requested April 6th for an appointment. Starr Detail replied that would be doable and needed address and make of car. I replied a day later. April 6th noon came and I called Starr Detail leaving VM wondering if they were late or coming at all. I replied to the email that I had asking the same. Starr Detail replied by email: "Hi , I confirmed the date but never received confirmation on my end with the address and phone # for some reason . I'm sorry for the confusion and inconvenience , if you would like to schedule for another date please let me know." I replied to his email attaching the email of :needed address and make of car. Starr Detail replied: "I did not say you did not send me the info I said on my end I never received it for some reason so I am not calling you a liar I am NOT going to argue with you about this if you would like to reschedule let me know if not call Angie's List for a full refund" I asked to have the work done one week later: "The 1st Saturday we are available is on the 20th at 12pm , if this works for you please let me know and if not you are more them welcome to call Angies list for a refund . Thanks," unfortunately I would be busy that weekend and the next two after. I never got a phone call or any communication that would keep me from felling this was a negative experience. So I am left requesting a refund for my Christmas gift.

Description of Work: I needed some detail service for my 2001 Toyota 4Runner. I came to Angie's List so that hopefully I could obtain some unbiased reviews on service providers. I came across Starr Detail Inc. and sent an email to Mark, who was prompt in his response. I told him I would be happy to bring my truck even towards a location of his choice. He told me they had an appointment out in my neighborhood on Wednesday, April 3rd at 8:30 am. I mentioned that this time normally doesn't work for me, but that I'd move some things around and accommodate the schedule. On Wednesday morning, I woke up my roommate and asked him to move his truck out of the garage, so I could at least park it in the driveway. We live on a hill, so I wanted to at least provide a relatively flat location to work on it. At 8:52 am, after receiving nary a phone call or an email, I sent Mark an email AND called both phone numbers and left a message, asking if anyone was planning on showing up, or if my appointment had fallen through the cracks. At 9:08 am, Mark sent me the following email: "hi Eric I am on my way to where the guys are on the freeway there and something that fell off a truck anf our tire blew out 2 tires is it possible to do this this afternoon and I'm sorry for any inconvenience but I will have my van up and running after a couple hours after I replace the tires" Now, I realize things come up. I even know that people have things go wrong, things don't get on the calendar properly, we are all human. However, I was really frustrated for several reasons: #1) Whatever happened to the van probably happened BEFORE they were supposed to be here. At what point did anyone realize they weren't going to make it on time? #2) Why did it take my phoning and emailing to illicit a response? #3) For a first time meeting, might a phone call been more appropriate? #4) I'm a business owner in a service related industry. It was more than an "inconvenience", as I had to shift multiple things around. If the other time was a potentiality from the beginning, why wasn't it offered? I'd have taken an afternoon appointment from the very beginning. #5) Since the actual auto detail was going to cost me an additional $50 because I had an "SUV", why not offer some kind of deep discount for the inconvenience, rather than just assume that I have nothing better to do with my day and I can gladly choose to lose even more money by being home for another appointment? #6) I spell my name with a "k" not a "c". Call it a pet peeve of mine, but this further frustrates me because of the following business mantra: ***How you do ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING.*** If the name DETAIL is in your business name, then why don't you show some ATTENTION TO IT? I came to Angie's List after becoming very frustrated with our long-time cabling vendor (computer industry). I wanted a place that I might be able to sift through industry professionals and find people who PRACTICE EXCELLENCE. I definitely do not mind spending more money for any service or good where the company has an "excellence mindset". I was hoping that I could find such a company based on some measurable criteria. I'm not happy that I dropped money on Angie's List to have this experience. I could have done better on YELP. Originally, I was just going to let this go and not waste any more time and thought on this experience, but the customer service rep at AL asked me to write a review and provide a grade, and hopefully balance out some of these pie in the sky reviews. I apparently didn't see any of the "F" grades these guys received, or I would have dug deeper. I'm giving a "D" grade because Mark at least gets some points for being courteous. However, it's not the way I'd deal with my clients or run my business, especially not for a new lead from a place that I might end up receiving a negative review if I dropped the ball.

Description of Work: Have had better results with local individual 2 comparable price. Asked to make sure any decal residue removed - not done! Seemed like just going thru motions. Still had stale odor inside. Granted car looked better. Washed - did Waxed- did Interior - vacuumed & wiped down

Description of Work: I gave this service to my grandson as I just purchased a new car. He has just used this service and he was more than pleased. The service people were prompt and courteous and did everything they were supposed to do.

Description of Work: Provider provided service initially. Inadvertently, he was paid in addition to the coupon. Instead of refund, he promised to provide service again. We scheduled twice and he cancelled twice. He kept complaining how far it was for his men to travel, though Orange County (where the car was) is listed in his travel zone. In the end, we decided that he should just refund the money and he stated that I have to go through Angies List to obtain payment.

Description of Work: Car was showroom ready when the job was completed. Interior was completely detailed. Every nook & cranny was cleaned & polished. The exterior was cleaned & polished. Wheels were shinny. I supplied the water source. They used our hose and worked in our driveway. I was very pleased.
