Jillian our landscaping Project Manager was great to work with. She was responsive, communicated well, and always let me know what to expect She was very creative and took my vision and made it a reality. She worked within our budget and her team was professional and efficient. They started the project on time and ended the project on time. I would definitely use Jillian and System Pavers again! They transformed our front yard and our back yard.
Description of Work: For this recent project, System Pavers did our Landscaping in the front and back yards. As a separate project several years ago System Pavers did all of our hardscaping in the backyard, front yard and driveway.

I did not sign with System Pavers because I thought the price was too high.
Description of Work: The representative described their service and product, measured my front yard, offered me price of $24,965 for the completed project. Later he lowered the price by $2000 to $22,965. The representative was pleasant and professional.

Cancelled the appointment at their request.
Description of Work: Call to make an appointment for an estimate. It was a small project and I was told due to the small size I would be contacted by a manager. They called back and I explained the project and set an appt for the estimate. A couple of hours before the appointment I was informed that the size of my project (120 sq. ft) was below the minimum they required (400 sq. ft) and they cancelled the appt. I was very upfront about the size and they were interested in trying to upsell the size of the project. Very Disappointing

A sales rep came came out for an estimate. He was very friendly and nice, but ended up being VERY high pressure! We didn't want to sign right away as we had planned to get other estimates. However, he kept pressuring us to sign that night. We went back and forth and figured if the price was right, we may go for it. Finally we agreed on what seemed like a good price to us. We were happy. He even called his boss on the phone in front of us to OK the price. Then, when we didn't hear from anyone for many days, we called. Turns out the salesman said he made a mistake adding up the job and we would need to pay more. Very unprofessional! We have since received other estimates for much less.

Everything went well. They came when they were supposed to and finished on time. It took about one day for them to put in the pavers and two days to put in the synthetic grass. They hauled away all the old turf, concrete border , trash, debris, etc. so that the finished project was neat and clean. Workers were polite, friendly, and answered questions . The company was good about sending people out to inspect the project and contacting me by phone to see how things were. Good about telling me what to do with what little maintenance is required. At least, no more watering or mowing my backyard. My only regret is I didn't get more estimates so I could compare prices. First came across synthetic grass at the Orange County Fair and the cost of their grass was $10.sq.ft. Systems Pavers was the first bid I got and was pleased with what they had to offer and went with them. We added a walkway and had pavers for the perimeter of the project which we may not have gotten from someone who just did synthetic grass. My wife is very happy with the project. We just got back from a trip ( before our project was done ) and one of the things mentioned with the men was " happy wife , happy life ".
Description of Work: Removed approximately 1400 sq. ft. of turf and replaced it with synthetic grass and pavers which included a walkway and pavers along the perimeter of the project. This work was done in my backyard. With the drought, watering was becoming a problem and the grass was dying in spots because I was cutting back on the water.

Set up an appointment with them to get an estimate for hardscaping the backyard. They never called to confirm and didn't show up. I called them and the rep said he saw me in the system, and had no idea why they didn't show. He also said he saw another appointment for the week before, which I never scheduled, and said it showed that "nothing happened there either." So even if they had me in for the wrong date, no one showed and no one checked with me and no one did anything about it. Fail.

Made an appointment and someone came to my home on time listened to what I wanted took measurements selected materials and made an appointment to return with a estimate and rendering. That was the end of that they never showed up. I never received a call stating why. I left at least three unanswered messages with my last one stating not to bother returning my calls. I guess they don't need any more business.

Provided a good estimate of the amount of pavers we needed. Quoted a price and then NEVER EVER heard from them again regardless of my emails, phone calls (directly to the rep who came out with VM) and to the office. We speculate that they misquoted the price and are trying to avoid us. Well too bad for them. Will not recommend them to anyone. I can only imagine what would of happened if we went with them and something went wrong and we needed to contact them.

Testing was not done satisfactorily by the project team. The installers basically installed the walkway stones and left, having considered the job done. They had not tested for proper drainage. I needed to perform that test myself, after the team had left. Testing revealed water accumulation at the base of the house near the front entrance. I gave photos to the PM (project manager) that showed water accumulation. The team returned to fix the problem, and I performed a second test that showed some slight, but insufficient, improvement. They came back a third day and fixed the problem. Each time they returned, they removed several stones, made changes to the sand bed, and replaced the stones. Finally, a follow-up test was successful. Of course, the project team should have done all testing without my involvement. Their performance was inexcusable. Problems with quality control included: 1. Some minor surface damage to the base of the stucco where it met newly installed walkway was not repaired without my reminding the PM more than once that I expected the team to make the repair. Once the PM agreed, he applied patching material, which took only about 15 minutes of time. 2. After the installers supposedly had finished their work, I identified two stones that were chipped and needed replacing. The team should have examined them and replaced the stones without my having to make the request. Serious breakdowns of project communication occurred, exemplified by the following: 1. During my initial phone conversation with the PM I had made a special request, which he agreed to comply with. It was to adequately protect the front door, which was adjacent to the concrete walkway that was to be removed. I explained that the front door was new and I wanted to have very sturdy protection that would guard against chipped stone or concrete from coming in contact with the door, and that ordinary paper would not be sufficient protection. The PM agreed with this request and said he?d make sure my request would be carried out. Yet, shortly after the team arrived, I observed them beginning to cover the door with a roll of paper that painters use to mask their work. I stopped them and explained that this was unacceptable and that the PM and I had agreed that a much sturdier form of protection would be used. 2. During the preparation before placing the stones on the walkway, I had a discussion with the PM and the installation team about complying with the layout of the design consultant at the time of sale. The designer had recommended brown stone to be used on the walkway edges, and also to be used in the main walkway. The main portion of the walkway (i.e., excluding the border) was to have been 90% courtyard terra cotta brown (CTB), with 10% brown. Instead, the installers explained they were going to install only the CTB in the main walkway, and use the brown only in the border. I spoke with the PM and explained the discrepancy between the installers? plans and the design clearly specified on our contract. The PM offered his explanation which was not satisfactory, so I contacted the designer, who looked into it and gave me an explanation, to the effect that his design would not work because the size of the brown stones would not match up properly if integrated with the CTB stones and therefore would physically not allow the design he had specified in the contract. (The designer apologized for his design error and attributed the error to his not being completely aware of stone size compatibility information when he prepared the design.) Once the installers demonstrated for me the incompatibility of the sizes, I accepted the designer?s explanation and I gave the project team my OK to proceed. I felt the PM should have done a better job of dealing with this issue than he did and that I should not have had to place calls to the project designer to get the correct explanation. 3. The PM and I agreed to place a few stones on top of the driveway where the walkway met the driveway near the garage door. In order to illustrate his plan which I agreed with, the PM used a pencil to outline each of five stones that would be cemented on top of the driveway. Later, however, I observed a project team member holding a small saw. When I asked him what he was going to use the saw for, he indicated he was going to saw out a corner of the driveway so he could place the stones in place of the concrete he was going to remove. Of course I stopped him and advised the workers of the agreement I had made with the PM. Obviously the agreement I had made with the PM had not been conveyed to the persons doing the work. The project duration (excluding sealing of stones) did not meet expectations. Originally the time estimated was two to three days and may be as long as a week. The actual duration was two weeks. The sealing of the stones was quoted (by the PM) as requiring two days?day 1 to apply sand, day 2 to apply sealer. Actual duration was 3 days?day 1 for the worker (sub-contractor) to start to apply sand and inform me that he didn?t feel good about applying sealer to stone that was as dirty as he felt it to be, in his ?professional judgment.? He stopped his work and phoned to advise his boss of his recommendation to clean it before applying the sealer. Then the worker went home. He returned the next day (day 2) to clean the walkway, and the following day (day 3) to apply sealer. The PM was not present during the sealing. My communication during the sealing process was directly with the sub-contracting firm. I believe that the PM should have been more involved during the sealing phase of the project than he was.

Its really hard to rate this one due to the fact that there was some extremely good work done and some very poor work done. The paver installation went extremely well. The crew was prompt came out and did what they needed to do. The work turned out better than expected and they even threw in some extras like running water and electrical lines for us. The problem with our project is not with system pavers but with the subcontractor, Turf Masters, they use to install the artificial turf. First they came out before the driveway was even shaped removed our old sod and installed the base for the synthetic grass and the bender board. Despite being told by the foreman of the paver crew that they were not ready for them to install the lawn base because the driveway had not been shaped, they proceeded to do the work anyway. In addition they did not install the bender board per the job blueprint nor did they install the required drainage that goes under synthetic grass. Again the paver foreman told them that there was drainage on the blueprint but for whatever reason the grass crew refused to install it. As a result once the driveway was installed they had to come back out redo some of the lawn base, install drainage, and had to uninstall and reinstall the bender board per the blue prints. It was at this time that they installed the synthetic lawn. Unfortunately I was not home when the grass was installed and when I finally got home from work I inspected the area and tested the drains to make sure that they drained properly. This is when I discovered that one of our downspouts from our rain gutters that was supposed to be tied into the drainage was not. This could have potentially been a disaster as the gutter was right by the entrance of our garage and when I ran water through it backed up into the garage. I called the project manager Josh and let him know about this latest mishap. To say the least he was not happy. He actually came out himself and installed the rest of the drainage. This is definitely not the project managers job but he was so fed up with their mistakes that he decided to do it himself. We were very happy with joshes work ethic and commitment to our job. The only problem is is that once synthetic turf is installed if it is uninstalled and then reinstalled it changes the shape of the turf. This naturally occurs with plastic that sits in the sun...it stretches and changes shape. So at once we noticed that there was a depression where the final drainage went and also the grass did not meet the bender board as it previously had. Josh told us you have the crew come back out and have them fix the grass portion. When the crew came back out a day or two later it was obvious that the foreman Jaouquin was p*****. He wouldn't even look at us or engage in a conversation with us. One of his guys did all the talking and all the checking in with us. To make a long story longer they really didn't do much but stretch the synthetic grass. The depressions were still there and it was of yes where the seam was. I was p***** this was not okay. When you pay $7000 for something you want it done right. I let Josh know and he assured me that he would get it fixed. Josh had his manager call us and we went over our concerns with him and he assured us that another crew would come out and correct the mistake. The new crew came out and they did their best to fix it and also did a little bit extra for us but the simple fact the matter is once the turf sits in the sun's heat and gets folded and unfolded as it did when they were attempting to correct the mistakes, it just will not fit the area as it once had. So basically you can still see the seams, the turf is not flush with the bender board, and you can still see the depressions where the drainage went in. To give credit where credit is due, if you decide to use system pavers I would highly recommend that you ask for Josh H to be your project manager. We feel that he was committed to our project , had a great worth ethic, and did whatever he could for us. I would also recommend that you have Jay M. Come out and give you an estimate. He has and eye for designing your yard and making it the best it can be. He takes his time and treats your design as it as if it were his own, last I recommend that you do not allow them to send turf Masters to your home to install grass. To us it was very clear that there is a major breakdown in communications between the system pavers crew and the subcontracted grass crew. In my opinion a sub contractor will rarely do the same quality of work that the actual contractor will do for you. It's really hard to rate this one and I'm on the fence if I would use them again. If I knew would be a system pavers crew then yes if I thought a subcontractor may do the work then no. Because two companies performed the work on my house it's hard to rate this one. My rating is based on the overall experience and is highly influenced by the grass portion. If it were just pavers done it would be straight A's but with the grass factored in...It is what it is. At the end of the day we spent $23,000 on a project and are not completely satisfied. **** update**** since writing this review system pavers has come through us in a major way. They sent a different turf crew to our house to redo the front lawn. This is the crew that does their showrooms. They did an excellent job and we are very satisfied with the work. So in the end the company came through for us.

mBottom line, we love the final product and would use them again. There were a few issues with communication that they need to work on. The sales person was very responsive, pleasant, and helpful. The only small issue with her is that she told it would take 3-5 days to install due to a complicated install. We later found out she had no idea of the process for our job and it took them 1 day. She needs a bit more training. She also was able to schedule our work for the following week which we were very happy about but they called the day they were going to start and told us it would be another week. The project manager Eric came out before hand to go over all of the details but unfortunately was not here for the job. Thee were a few things that were not done as we had discussed. Without us calling hi, Eric came a few days later and was not happy with the finishing touches of their work. He had them come out again and they still did not fix things right. Eric eventually came out and did the work himself. I want to stress that Eric was the one who was unhappy with the final results and made sure it was right. We love the end result and having someone like Eric who takes pride in the project is why he gets an A+. We plan to use them again for another project.

The sales person Victor spent a lot of time helping us to select the right pavers and services. Their free demo offer reduced the price far below the competition. They were excellent with grading, drains, overall design. They were very flexible in timing the job. Very good to obtain financing. Worked together with the company that installed our patio cover. The project coordinator Al was constantly in touch to answer questions and came over frequently to inspect the job and make sure it went perfectly. My only complaints were that some of the workmen left some empty water bottles in our back yard, and it took them an extra day to remove the debris from the street after the job. The finished job is beautiful! I would recommend this company highly.

It took a while and had to write many letters, have meetings at my home and prove that the original job was not done correctly before they would take responsibility. But they finally did. Although they did charge me to redo the job it was a fraction of what it would have cost me with another company. The crew they sent out was wonderful, not like the first crew which I had complained about but nobody seemed to care.

From conception to installation these guys were great. We first got a super pro David to put our wants on paper. It was as if he was reading my mind, he was so in tune with what I wanted. We now have a beautiful cobblestone patio with a sitting wall and a diamond-shaped wood firepit, a planter area under the large window and a dog park for our 3 dogs. I look at it and still can't believe it's ours! It would have taken only six days but their supplier sent the wrong pallets, so it took seven. We will have them back for our front yard in a year or two.

Chad does excellent work! He is one of the best contractors I have had the pleasure to do business with! He has come in and replaced pavers before. We had a lot of hard water stains, rust marks, and some oil stains. He cleaned as much as possible to save as many pavers as possible. He pressure washed the driveway twice. He took out about 24 pavers and replaced them. The driveway looks brand new again! I would recommend Chad and System Pavers to anyone!

Was mailed an ad from System Pavers. Had their salesman David Satossky visit our home and draw out and design a most lovely patio using my Husband's ideas and some of his own as well. |Very professional and knowledgeable and worked with us as much as he could on the price. This is not the least expensive addition you can make to your home, but it sure is worth every penny. They were able to finish our patio in one day. They sent a crew of 13 people. The crew worked very quickly and efficiently. The only thing they left behind was our beautiful patio!! We felt everyone we dealt with, the crew, the project manager, our salesman David, all cared very much about our project and how happy we would be with the outcome! |We will enjoy our patio for the rest of our lives. It has added great beauty to our home! I wouldn't hesitate to use System Pavers again or recommend them to anyone! |
