Description of Work: The team of John, Jose and Alfredo arrived at my house at 8:30 AM. After signing the contract, they started moving the furniture from my living room and 5 bedrooms out to the garage. The floors are being refinished. They wrapped everything with shrink wrap which held drawers in place and prevented scratching. They worked so fast, carefully and efficiently that they got all of the furniture into the garage, arranged very neatly, and compactly in only 1 1/2 hours. When the floors are finished, NorthStar will move the furniture from the garage back into the house. This team was so friendly and efficient that I requested that they do the move back in for me.

Description of Work: They just moved my husband and I yesterday from an apartment to a house. They were there 15 minutes early and moved very very fast. I think the entire move took less than 4 hours. They provided excellent customer service and true care when handling our furniture. They even reminded me to use a coupon from the Angie's List website to save $150 off the total cost! We are incredibly pleased and know exactly who to call the next time we move!!!

Description of Work: i asked for the contact person. i was told she was in a meeting. i was asked if this had to do with angie's list. i said, "yes." they told me they could help me. i mentioned start/endpoints. i was asked size of place. 1 bedroom apartment with a sofa. i was quote $450 to start plus other fees and they were available next week. I balked and informed them that their competitors are almost half that, can offer a full quote within a few $20 bills and have more incentive to wrap up and get to the next customer than they do because of the mutually beneficial pricing model. i didn't understand how i'm to expect this is a fair deal. i asked that she tell me something as to why i would agree to such a deal... i was given more canned statements on the justification of the prices which sounded more like legal-binding speech. spider senses go off. this is a "gotcha" tactic - like a tourist trap - i'm out.

Description of Work: We moved from a 2bed/1bath duplex to a 3/2 single family home. A crew of 3 men coming over. They arrived at 7:40am (20 min before), and started working right away. We packed our stuff so everything was organized and labeled. It took 5 hours to move the entire house and assemble back some of our furniture. They were careful with the contents, nothing ended up broken!

Description of Work: Wow! The professionals at Northstar Moving Company are nothing short of amazing. Everything from the scheduling process to the move was handled very professionally which helped me rest easy knowing that the job would be completed efficiently, safely and at a decent rate of speed. I had a 2/2 to move across town and was mostly packed by the time the movers arrived. They arrived early, helped pack those final few items and gave very welcomed advice on packing some of the more challenging items. These guys were great! The move was completed in about 5 hours. If I had done this myself, I'd still be moving weeks later. In short, these guys know what they're doing and they do it amazingly. I highly recommend using their services for your next move.

The estimator was right on time for the appointment, and he was very thorough and knowledgeable. I checked other movers, and Northstar price was better than others I checked. Yes, I would use NORTHSTAR again.

Description of Work: They moved me one home to another. They did some minor packing. They disassembled furniture, then wrapped and packed it. They also wrapped and packed our electronics. They even stopped along away to pick up an appliance I purchased from Home Depot.

Description of Work: The guys were fine, no complaints there. The truck they showed up in was so old and in disrepair it looked like something jed clampett from the beverly hillbillies would have driven. The wardrobe boxes were also very old and broken down. Basically they were held together with tape.

Description of Work: Movers were on time and very professional. Nothing was broken or damaged in the move. All items were placed as requested. Workers went out of their way to be helpful. This company is not the least expensive in the marketplace, but they did deliver value well worth the money. They started at 9 am and worked non-stop, except for a short lunch break, until 8:30 pm. I would definitely hire them again!!

Description of Work: Northstar was great from start to finish. We had a little glitch on the day of the move and it was resolved readily. The workers moved us in high heat, the 90 degree weather that Sunday July 8th was a killer. We were moved in under an hour and a half and i was able to tip the movers and thank them each individually, and i also shook all 3 gentlemen's hands, I highly recommend this company as they are excellent and reliable! It is my pleasure to say that some day, far in the future when we move we will be sure to use Northstar Moving again.

Description of Work: I didn't end up using this company because they were so unprofessional and badly behaved. Its a big surprise how they are rated A on Angie's List. 1) From the very start, the customer service professional who I contacted to get my move set up didn't seem interested in my business. 2) I had to call up multiple times to get an estimate, to get the time/date they would come in for the actual move. No one seemed bothered and they didn't call up even once to confirm the move time / date. Just ridiculous! 3) I had made a request to move on Saturday. They give a 3 day window and tell me to call on a Wednesday to see when they would be ready. I call on Wednesday and they say they will come anytime between 8-10 or 12-4 on Thursday even though I had put in a special request. 4) Thursday happens and I wait and wait and wait till 1pm when I finally call them to ask them where they are. They tell me they are on their way and will be there shortly. 5) The driver calls up and says he's brought an 18 wheeler to a residential neighborhood which he cant get to my apartment building so he's going to find a smaller shuttle and charge me for it. I mean come on! 6) 10 mins later he says he is going to try to park the big truck and start the move. He comes down on a one way lane and creates a havoc on the roads. Imagine! Someone should have called the cops. 7) I ask 2 of the movers who are not wearing uniforms who are helping him get out of the one way road why they got this big truck for such a small move and one of them doesn't speak English and the other one says, he was picked off the road. I was shocked! 8) At this point, I wasn't sure if I should do the move or not. I was moving long distance from Seattle to SF and cancelling the move would cost me a bit since my lease was ending in a few days. I decided to give the crew the benefit of the doubt. 9) The driver finally parked the truck and comes up to my apartment to take a look at my stuff. Then he asks me - " Where is this stuff going"? He DIDN'T KNOW WHERE THE STUFF HAD TO GO ONCE IT WAS LOADED. 10) I decided to let this pass.He says he will be back in 15 mins with all the material and will start the move. 30 Minutes pass by and there is no sign of him. I call him up and ask him what happened. He says he DOESN'T HAVE TAPE AND THAT HE NEEDS ME TO DRIVE HIM TO A U-HAUL SO THAT HE CAN BUY TAPE!!! WHAT KIND OF A MOVING COMPANY -A) HIRES PEOPLE OFF THE ROAD TO DO A LONG DISTANCE MOVE?!?B) HIRES A DRIVER WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A TRUCK?!?C) ASKS THE PERSON WHO IS PAYING FOR THE MOVE TO GO AND BUY THEM TAPE ?!??! That's when I lost it and called up the customer service in the HQ and yelled at them. I finally cancelled the move as I refused to let a bunch of thugs touch my stuff and move it across the country. This company is complete garbage. BEWARE of THEIR UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE and the kind of staff they pick. You may be better off using another company. DO NOT GET MISLED BY THE REVIEWS ON ANGIE'S LIST!! THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT!

Description of Work: They will move you so fast. It is worth the money and your sanity! They take care of your stuff. If you buy your own boxes it is much cheaper. We had our own boxes and packed ourselves, but they will even pack you if you don't have time. The time we did that it cost $900.

Description of Work: We called around to a few moving companies and north star was the best priced and had the most positive reviews on angies list. north star moved us from our 2 bedroom house (with stairs) to a larger 3 bedroom home. the workers arrived on time (even ahead of time) and worked quickly. The movers were very professional, courteous and had great attitudes. My husband was really impressed that the movers were very patient in having to disassemble some of the larger/bulkier furniture that wouldn't fit through the door. we are definitely planning to use them for our next move after such a positive experience with North Star.
