Description of Work: Nelson and his team were great. They helped me move out of an apartment building in SF that has very strict rules and regulations. A violation of any of the building rules results in a fine. Nelson and his crew took extra care protecting the carpet with Masonite and followed all the rules. They wrapped my vintage furniture to perfection and unloaded at my two drop off locations in record time. Nelson and his crew communicated before my move and during and didn't leave anything to chance. The truck got stuck in a bit of traffic - but no blame to the team - there was a protest. I would hire Nelson again and would recommend him and his team to friend. Thank you for making my move smooth!

Description of Work: Packed and moved from 3 BR house to 3 BR condo. Great team, punctual, hard- working. Important that we had a "maximum" quote price, which the company stuck to. After they saw the extent of the work on Day 1, they brought an extra worker on Day 2, for a total of 5 workers, much appreciated.

+ -1 moreHere are some of the many problems I had: Stood next to the crew leader as he dropped a picture of mine, which he later denied breaking. Stacked a tile cutting wet saw on top of my leather theater recliners, leaving a depression in the leather. I noticed that they were just placing my original oil paintings in the truck, so I asked them to wrap them like I saw in the pictures during the sales pitch, but I was told that they do not wrap pictures for local moves. When the paintings were unloaded at my house there was dirt and grease on them. Lots and lots of boxes with no more than a few items in them and stuffed with tons of paper, while some boxes were filled up without any paper. Boxes were not marked with their contents, and the boxes packed on the second day weren't even marked with what room they came from. I specifically asked for one of my computers to be bubble wrapped, but it was just thrown onto the truck, not even in a box. I'm out of room, but I could go on and on...
Description of Work: They were hired to pack up my furniture, move it, and unpack at my new home. The first day was estimated to be a six man, eight hour packing day, while the second day was supposed to be a six man, 10 hour moving day. In actuality, on the first day they left after 4 hours having only packed approximately 50% of my stuff. And on the second day they came with less people and had to not only finish packing, but load and unload two trucks. That meant that the second day they were undermanned and overwhelmed and were basically doing the most shoddy job I have ever seen a moving company do. This is the third moving company I've hired in the last six years, and they are far and away the worst. Not only that, but the crew was rude, unfriendly, and unwilling to do the few things I asked of them.

+ -1 moreWe were moving from California to Texas at the end of June, which is one of the busiest times of the year for a mover. The people at Northstar were professional and took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. They came on the date scheduled and did a terrific job on packing the furniture. I had packed most items myself. They had given us a two-week delivery window, but the furniture didn't arrive until the 16th day. I had been mistakenly told by a rep that they paid $100/day for each day the delivery was late. When they were late, I was told the rate was only $35/day for late delivery. When I spoke to the manager, they went ahead and honored the $100/day like I was originally told. Of course, I would have much rather have had my furniture, but was glad they honored their word.

+ -1 moreCalled to inquire about pricing, availability, etc. Lynn Mioni was very nice, explained pricing, including any extras and insurance. The move went exactly as she stated it would, including the scheduling and follow up phone calls. The movers were more than I could have hoped for. Called when they were on the way, worked diligently, non-stop, not even to drink the water I offered them. They were polite and professional, asked where I wanted everything to go instead of just plopping it on the first available area. They even moved the furniture a little to the left, no, to the right, just a little over, perfect! They were very careful with all my belongings, including a very heavy armoir that they carried upstairs, two televisions, refrigerator, etc. Didn't drop, break, scratch or damage anything! The entire move took less time than expected and I've never had a more pleasant experience moving. If I ever move again, they are the ONLY company I would call.
