NorthStar Moving Company

Northstar was extremely professional and impressive with both packing, moving, and unloading our belongings. Their pricing was also fair, given everything they did for us. Not a single piece of our many china pieces broke, they were responsive to feedback in how to pack mattresses, etc, according to special requests, they were endlessness polite and positive in attitude. I would use them again in a second.

The movers (three and one truck) arrived on time and were friendly. Compared to other movers we hired in the past they were very quick. They also wrapped the furniture and nothing got damaged or lost. They were a little bit more expensive ($35 more) than the company who moved us in the apartment but the service was so much better so the money was well spend. I was told that I will receive a 5% discount since I found them on Angie's List but when my husband payed the movers, he forgot to mention that and the discount was not applied to the final amount. The company gave me a follow-up call how things went and I mentioned that we did not get the discount. The representative was apologizing and two days later we had a refund over the 5% back on our credit card. We will use this company again in the future.

Pickup in Stockton: The 3 men were punctual, courteous and careful with my furniture. They loaded the truck and left with no incident. Delivery was promised for 3-5 days after pickup. Delivery in Altadena: On the day of the delivery, I received a phone call from the dispatcher saying that delivery was delayed for a few hours due to a truck breakdown in the Bay area. Later that day, I received another call saying the truck was still having difficulties. The delivery needed to be rescheduled for another day, but when it did arrive, the men were courteous and professional and did a good job of moving everything to exactly where I wanted the pieces set. Cost was by weight, and it came to roughly $1000. Local Altadena move: The move was scheduled for the men to arrive between noon and 2 pm. They did not arrive until approximately 5 pm, perhaps a little later. I was not happy with this, considering this meant the move would go through the evening. They sent 3 men, all of whom were fairly polite and seemed to work pretty hard in the beginning. After a couple of hours, they took a half-hour break. This was a large move, an entire household, moving from an upstairs apartment (exterior stairs) to a 2-story house, but since the men had already done a large move before coming to do mine (that's why they were late), they seemed to be tired and I could see that, as the evening progressed, the quality of their work got worse and the move seemed to take forever. They were not at all careful with my belongings. Things in boxes were thrown about. Furniture with moving parts (drawers, doors) were plastic wrapped, but not protected with padding. There are quite a few new scratches and dents in my furniture, all of which I noticed little by little over the following days as I settled into my new home. They finished the actual move close to midnight. Cost was roughly $1000. No, I wouldn't use them again.

Northstar assisted in a move across town and were punctual, prepared, cautious with the furniture and made the move easy. I had used them previously for several commercial moves and remembered their excellent customer service. there rates are reasonable and they don't seem to waste time. I would recommend them for business and residential moves.

Upon reading my review North Star movers pointed out to me that I was not charged $200.00 for packing fees as was quoted in my original contract (I did not have my receipt in front of me when I wrote the review). Therefore I have respectfully submitted this updated report, as I would highly recommend this moving service. The fact that the Co-founder called me personally to discuss my satisfaction shows just how much these folks care about their customers, which was truly impressive.

Their first estimate included packing--and that price was WAY more than I thought it should be.So I asked for furniture only estimate, which was very reasonable--especially compared to other companies rates. I only had them move the main, large furniture pieces. But they moved some furniture from one room to another without question.They worked faster on getting furn out of old place, but took extra time(not really charged) to be sure rug was properly placed, to fix a leg broken on one piece(they didn't do it),make sure all pieces were placed where I wanted AND--even put the dust ruffle on the bed. AND--the price was $200 LESS than the estimate--they gave discount on materials--

It was great. They were very helpful, personal, and efficient. As a side note, it is necessary to purchase the supplemental insurance for broken or damaged items.

The company arrived a surprisingly 20 minutes early. All 6 of our movers introduced themselves and were all very kind and well mannered. Needless to say, and excellent first impression. Throughout the move the worked like dogs to get everything properly packed and into their trucks to transport to Fullerton. It was an impressive sight to see. We've worked with national movers in the past, but this company was incredibly receptive, helpful and with an incredible attitude. We will recommend them to good friends, family and work associates in the future. They were excellent!!!

It went well overall. They were very quick and came prepared with everything they would need to move all of my furniture. They moved me from a two story apartment to a three story apartment. I wasn't able to supervisor the unloading of my stuff into the garage so it wasn't organized as well as I would like but if I was there I am sure they would have switched it around. They put everything back where it needed to be in my apartment and I would definitely use them again.

The Good: The movers arrived on time and were careful packing and moving our furniture and belongings. The Bad: They moved very slowly (the lead guy was on his cell phone for personal calls a lot) and took way more time than estimated to pack and move everything (3 hrs more than estimated and they charge, in part, by hourly rate). We bought them meals so they wouldn't take any longer to leave for hour-long lunch and dinner breaks! The In-Between: They charged us well over the estimate, but later management called us and refunded some of the difference to keep us satisfied. The Weird: We don't have definitive evidence, by any means, but we're pretty sure that one of the moving guys stole our credit card number and tried to use it in Las Vegas (the lead mover was holding and looking at our credit card (as if he was reading off the numbers) and speaking in another language to someone who was not the office/headquarters--after he hung up, he called the office and, in English, gave them our credit info for payment...then a couple days later someone tried to charge $5K at a LV hotel.

Everything was great. On the day of the move they were able to give us a discount for paying cash, and they were also running a promotion. We ended up getting almost 10% off in the end, which we appreciated. We were very happy with their service and would use them again.

Northstar has moved our entire household twice, I would not make a move using any other company. They were very efficient, and best of all, our furniture was in perfect condition at the conclusion of the move. They even called in extra men "8 total" to move our over 1000 pound granite dining room table. Gadi was our contact person, he is the BEST....

They did an excellent job, except they broke the door to a cabinet and didn’t say anything. We found it about 2 hours after they left. Otherwise, it was great. Of note, they offered to pick up the empty boxes when we unpacked, and came out and removed them the same day we called.

They estimated more hours then they originally thought & charged us less then the estimate they provided. The people that did the work were very friendly and did a good job.

Their staff who packed me up in Glendale was great. I was very happy with them. They did really well. They were several days late delivering. The private contractor they used to haul stuff had my things in what looked like a horse trailer. They advertise an air shock system. I have pictures of foot prints on boxes and they claim they will pay for any damages if I send them a bill.

The day of the move was hectic for us. The 3 guys and truck arrived right on time with a very upbeat, positive attitude. Just what we needed. These guys were moving so fast I couldn't believe it. They were like a well choreographed ballet. The whole move was done in 5 hours. Just what was estimated. I'd certainly use them again and refer to my friends and family. They made a horribly stressful thing not so bad.

The three man crew of movers were punctual. They were polite and provided extra help. They did everything that I asked. I would recommend to family and friends.

They were significantly less expensive than the other companies I have used before. They were courteous. They were on time. They were a crew of 6 people that came out of which half seemed not so well trained as the other half so consequently some of the packing that was not done properly had considerable more breakage than we have had before. They unloaded everything properly and put it in the correct rooms. They were responsive and punctual.

It was great. It went really well. They arrived on time. They did not damage anything. The price was reasonable.

The men got lost finding my house, they were wrapping items that I said it was unnecessary to wrap. There was only the driver who spoke English and I had to notify him several times about what the men were doing. They picked up paintings that were clearly labeled (in boxes) with an up arrow, but didn't keep the boxes upright.

I hired Northstar to help me with my home staging business. They picked up all my pre-packed bins, boxes and artwork and delivered them to my job site. Later in the day they came back and picked up our tools, supplies and whatever we didn't use and returned it to our warehouse.

They did a good job. Their prices were competitive.

Three polite, hard working, friendly guys showed up on time, never took a break helped out in packing and organizing, moving furniture. These guys were tops... especially compared to some other movers I've used in the past.
