NorthStar Moving Company

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the move because I will not have one. I have been looking for mover for awhile and asked , when inquiring about cost, how soon I had to get reservation. I had talked with North Star a few times to check on various aspects of the move. I was not told that I should reserve right away. I called June 4 was told to reserve for middle of July I should call by the 24th of June. I called June 5 with dates and after 2 days , I had to email to find the dates were not available. Come to find out there were no dates available up to July 27, my deadline. I lost valuable time in securing a mover for my move. I was counting on the company to provide the correct information so I could make my reservation soon enough to get my move reserved. I know this is a busy time for movers but I expect to be provided with correct information.

Don't both unless you live on the west coast. We are moving from the Pittsburgh, PA area to the Washington DC area. NorthStar came up under the Pittsburgh listing for movers on Angie's List. Unfortunately, when I called, I was told that they don't have an estimator in our area and they could only tell us what the move would cost after they got the actual weight of our property on the truck! What fool would ever let a company do this? NorthStar doesn't say this in their Angie's List ad - so I just consider that sloppy advertising and a waste of my time to call the company.

They do not cover my area. Said they are located in Chatsworth and are sorry.

I could not be happier than I am with the whole experience with Northstar. Our specialist (Ron Cohen -- ask for him if you can he's the best) was amazing from start to finish. First, i couldn't get in to show him the place for the estimate, so he came back another time with no huffing and puffing whatsoever. He was speedy and communicative throughout the whole process. With such great customer service (and the lowest price), you'd think the moving part would be sub-par, but it wasn't! It was smooth as silk. HIGHLY recommend. .

It went very well. Both times, the movers were fast, efficient, friendly and cooperative. I was very happy and pleased with the services. Very high quality experience.

I've not moved many times in my life - only 4 time. They've all been a mess with things broken, furniture scratched, stuff lost, boxes left thrown around at the new location, stuff left behind at the old. Lest it's not obvious, I don't like moving. Not so with this move using Northstar. The team showed up 30 minutes early, they were a clean, healthy, hardworking team of 4 guys who came to do the work and not mess around. They got all the right stuff on the truck in about 2 1/2 hours, left the right stuff behind, and got us into the new apartment in 4 1/2 hours including driving time. All the furniture was unpacked and placed where we wanted it, the beds were set up, mattresses placed, old packing material removed and boxes that we purchased but might use when we move from here in 6-9 months saved in a storage area that comes with the apartment. I just cannot express how painless this was other than to say I liked the service so much I immediately hired Northstar to return to the old house 5 days later and pack my POD unit with everything that remained in the house but was going into storage. As with the first job everything went great. Same project lead (Tim) but a different team of workers. I also want to acknowledge Ted in the main office that did the order setup for these moves. He was great to work with, clear about how Northstar operates and made us feel like we would be well served. I will use Northstar again when we move next year to our final location and will certainly recommend them to anyone who asks for this sort of service.

It was awesome! Jason and his team were supposed to arrive between 8 and 10 am. They arrived promptly at 8:30am and got straight to work. We had a lot of stuff to move but they were SO fast. Everything was loaded, moved an hour away, and unloaded by 12:30. Only 4 hours! We were skeptical at first about hiring movers because we normally just enlist the help of our friends but this time we have a one year old and another one on the way so hiring professionals was the right choice. The price was really great too.

It went really well. My only complaint is that the guys should not smoke on the job while taking breaks, especially since my wife was pregnant. Other than that, it went great. They arrived on time, packed pretty quick, and got us moved. The guy did not have his regular crew, so considering that it went really well. I would use them again. I usually feel like I am getting screwed by movers, but I did not feel that way this time.

After attempting to use their services to move furniture (a dining room suite only) from first floor to lower lever, we contacted Angie's List and spoke to a woman. She assured us that Angie's List would arrange for a local mover to do the job. We have still not heard back from Angie's List regarding our issue. Honestly....Angie's List is just as disappointing as the moving company!

Ron Cohen was the Project Manager for NorthStar and was in charge of providing my estimate cost for the move. He was professional, personable, knowledgeable, accurate, and accommodating. Being that this was my first long distance move, my stress level was high for nearly two months and I had many questions - Ron answered all of them with patience, understanding, and kindness. His accuracy in estimating the total pounds of the move, as well as how many boxes I would have, was remarkable. He was nearly spot on. I received unbelievable 5 Star customer service - someone from NorthStar contacted me at least one per week, sometimes twice, either to confirm something or to provide me with updated information pertaining to my move. With the frequency of these customer service calls, some would probably find it bordering on annoying, but I was so grateful for these updates. It was reassuring and helpful to know that the folks at this moving company were so concerned about every aspect of this move and that it would be carried out to my expectations. I quickly knew that I had chosen the right moving company. Because I had so much stuff to move, I was given two different pick-up dates. The movers were on time both days. The Foreman for my move was Luis Salas and his crew on both days were nothing short of outstanding. Ram Katalan, John Wilson, Robert Rosas, and Willy Nunez - these are top notch movers. These guys work hard and they do a great job. They use care with everything they handle and they work fast. Everyone who came to my home was professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating and I was pleased to have them on the job. Should you go with NorthStar Moving for your next move, and I highly recommend that you do, reward these guys with a nice tip once the job is done. They will be deserving of every penny of it. Once I arrived in Massachusetts, I received a call that my things were about to be delivered. The movers on this end were also professional, personable, and hard working. They, too, handled my things with care which I really appreciated. My final cost for this move came in below my initial estimated price, which tells you that this company is honest and stands behind the moving service that it sells. Without question I would use them again and I highly recommend them to anyone who is considering a move or relocation. This was, hands down, the best moving experience I could've ever hoped for and I owe it all to Ron Cohen, Luis Salas, and the moving crew of NorthStar Moving Corporation. You will not be disappointed.

Movers arrived within the agreed upon time, quickly packed up the items I wanted moved, and delivered them safely to the new house. They were polite, efficient, and careful with my things. I would use them again.

I didn't get past the estimator stage as the estimate was way to high for what I wanted done in comparison to other companies and the estimator wasn't on top of his game. He was late, his computer wasn't working, he was dressed in normal street clothes.

It was fine, the quote was much higher than another company, so I decided to go with the other company.

It generally went well. They showed up on time, did what they were suppose to do and efficiently. There were not any issues. It worked out well. The person in charge went out of his way to get us some wrapping blankets at no additional charge. Quality was good.

Our favorite moving company so far. They sent 4 guys, and they were strong, worked fast and were careful. Although, we did have all furniture taken apart already and everything was ready to go to save time. They were professional and courteous. Price was comparable to other companies. Their truck was very nice, a small detail that I liked.

It was apparent that NorthStar didn?t equip their movers with the materials to protect the furniture, which would have prevented the scratches to my furniture. Granted the movers did mention that the sofa would not fit, I suggested that perhaps it may fit if inserted at an angle. To my dismay they did not protect my wood furniture as they attempted what I suggested. I believe that if NorthStar provided the movers with the materials, such as the pad and bubble wraps, they would have used it to protect my furniture. Prior to NorthStar, I had their competitor, La Habra, move my other furniture and they supplied their movers with materials needed to protect my furniture, were conscientious in protecting my furniture so much so that they took a quick moment to measure the space before attempting the transfer.

I have used Northstar for 2 local moves and was very happy with both experiences; in fact, my second experience was even better than the first. I particularly like their "not to exceed" estimate which ensures that you know the maximum cost of the move. Also, if the move uses fewer materials or takes less time than estimated, the moving crew will recalculate the estimate accordingly. My most recent move cost was half of what was estimated which completely exceeded my expectations. I have never used another moving company; I've either packed boxes and moved them myself or hired Northstar to complete my move. Gil, the moving estimator, was prompt and professional in all of his communications and the 4 guys who moved my items were also very professional and respectful. I will definitely hire Northstar again without hesitation.

Jason and his team at NorthStar were very professional, customer oriented, efficient and flexible. All qualities that made the move less stressful. Every step of the way, the moving team communicated - called us to give us an ETA on when they expected to arrive at the house, asked lots of questions rather than assume they knew where and how we wanted things done and arranged. My husband and I really appreciated this as it ensured that we were not moving things around after they left. I would definitely use them again for a move and recommend them highly to Angie's List members.

NorthStar Moving was the most professional moving service that I've ever experienced, and I have moved quite often. Dan was extremely courteous to my father at the pick-up location and when delivering to my house he was beyond professional, as well as friendly and efficient. Since I wasn't at the pick-up location he kept constant communication on what was going on with the move, explained in detail any additional charges (which was justified due to the additional packing that they had to perform), and any other issues during the move. I tipped both movers more than I expected, and I was happy to do it because they both deserve it. My deliver was the last of the day and they finished well after 9 PM, but remained cordial throughout. NorthStar was a little more expensive than some of the other movers that I've received estimates from, but I used them based on the consistently high ratings they received, and I'm more than satisfied with the choice.

I called to ask for an estimate and was told that Ilan would be there the following day. The second I met Ilan I knew that this company was special. Not only did he offer me advice on the best way for me to handle my extreme downsizing, but he continued to follow up with me to see how I was progressing as the move day approached. I have moved many times in my life. I've had bad experiences, and I've had great experiences. THIS EXPERIENCE WAS BEYOND SPECTACULAR!! The four men who showed up at my door that first day were wonderful. They calmly walked through the house, and began packing and boxing up everything. I have many, many antiques, all of which were carefully wrapped and transported with all the love and care their age deserved. If the packers found a dollar, or a $20, or a jar of change in a drawer, it was immediately brought to my attention. Before breaking for lunch, they asked me if it was okay for them to leave. On day two I believe there were six men. Again, work began immediately, calmly, and with a speed that only someone who's been doing this for a long time could achieve. I even took videos because I was so impressed. Day three brought eight men to load and unload the trucks at my new home. Again, the care with which my belongings were treated was impressive. I am still not completely unpacked (I may NEVER be completely unpacked!), but so far, not one single item was scratched, broken, or damaged in any way. Just as important as the work ethics of the movers, was that none of the men had an unkind word to say about the company, or the people who run the company. They all seemed like brothers ... brothers who really enjoyed being together. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW WONDERFUL NORTHSTAR IS. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VERY STRESSFUL MOVE A REAL PLEASURE TO EXPERIENCE. XO

The movers arrived on time in the morning. Tim, the team leader, did a quick assessment of what needed to be packed, and was very attentive to our directions. The team carefully wrapped glass, plates, and other fragile items in paper. They wrapped furniture in plastic and used runners so as to preserve floors. In order to help us save on costs, they were careful to first use the boxes that we had purchased, before providing their own boxes. In the unpacking, they followed our directions and were quick and efficient. The team members were very nice to us and our children and completed their work quickly and professionally. I would definitely recommend Tim and his team at Northstar to anyone. The cost was about what I expected for packing up and moving a three bedroom home. We hadn't done any of our own packing, so the costs reflects additional time / labor for the team to have done all the packing. All in all, I'd say the cost was worth it.

They were great! They estimated us a bit on the high side because of all the stops we would have to make but then the price dropped significantly when the work proved to be less demanding that originally expected. Love that! They arrived right on time to the first location and were swift to the other locations. They packed our stuff into their truck safely, quickly & thoroughly. They were great about asking us questions as they went, since we were leaving some items behind to be sold on craigslist so it was potentially confusing.... But they're communication made it so easy and simple. When all our items arrived to our new apartment, everything was accounted for and in the same condition as they were when we started. The movers were all pleasant to work with and we couldn't have been happier with the experience.

They were on time and on point. They packed up our stuff and moved it quickly and efficiently.

am not really that type of person to write a review but moving with Northstar made me to do so. I have moved from one bedroom apartment, I have packed everything myself prior to move date except for Lamps and table glasses. The crew arrived even earlier and they started to work once they arrived, they were very polite, professorial and efficient. Especial thanks to Johnathan and his crew they did really good job and I will defiantly move with them again.

I moved from an apartment in West Hollywood to Hollywood. I packed up everything myself beforehand with the exception of all of my breakables and dishes, which I had the movers pack up when they arrived. I only had one room of stuff plus kitchen stuff (was moving into a studio) but still, they were super fast and efficient. I was in my new place about 2 hours after they arrived at my old place! They were extremely polite and professional, and were very careful with all of my belongings. My roommate has cats and they were even super conscious of asking me if the cats were tucked away safely before opening any outside doors! The move cost about $191, plus a $50 coupon I had purchased from Angie's List for $150 worth of services. I gave them $80 for the three of them, so altogether I paid about $320. Cheapest and easiest move I have ever done, by far. I would highly recommend them.
