Called on Monday to make an appointment to replace the garbage disposal and kitchen faucet. I was extremely pleased they were able to come on Tuesday because I couldn’t use the sink due to the broken disposal. They were to have arrived between 11 and 1 – and was thrilled when “James” showed up at 11:30 (I had to take off work to let them in to do the repairs and waiting until 1 would have been a bummer). As it turns out it took 2 hrs to complete the work but once done, everything worked like a charm. James was polite, professional, pleasant and knew his business. I’ve used San Jose Plumbing previously and have always been pleased with their work. I will use them again.

It was Christmas time and our sewage got blocked, and we were not able to use any of our toilets. Its a holiday weekend and we had no one responding. we called SJ Plumbing around 2PM and they immediately responded, and checked if they could send someone by end of the day, They had their plumber come by around 4.30 and vow, what a job he did with limited lighting. It took two full hours for him to clean the drain. He was done by 6.30 and we were so relieved to use the toilets. I really appreciate their timely response even during the holiday time and thorough job that they did. Great Professional service!! I would strongly recommend their services!

I asked them to come out for a quote for installing a gas line for a fireplace insert as well as hooking it up to the meter. I believe I was given a quote for that and over the course of several months they finally came out to install it. I paid them but they never hooked it up to the meter. When I called the guy that hooked it up, he said I would have to speak to the owner because it was not in the quote and then hung up on me. I called back to the main number to speak to the owner but the owner was in a meeting. Additionally, scheduling with them was incredibly hard. Each time they were going to send someone out, they would call to reschedule, or tell me one of their workers was injured. This happened on more than two occasions. When they finally did come out to install the gas line they ended up taking three days instead of the one that was originally quoted. As near as I could tell it was because the guy they had doing it didn't seem to know what he was doing and had to be coached. In the two months of trying to schedule, my husband and I decided that since they are going to run a gas line, we might as well have them put a T in the gas line for a potential gas stove in the future. They did that and capped it off. They never charged me more for the quote even for adding the T. I'm not sure if they did that because of all the delays and rescheduling.
Description of Work: I asked them to run a gas line from one end of the house to the other so that I could put in a fireplace insert. They were supposed to hook it up to the meter.

Excellent, professional, and friendly service.
Description of Work: Kevin installed a reverse osmosis system in our home, when several other plumbers declined to do the installation. He did a thorough job, including finding and fixing a leak that was not part of the installation. He provided tips about how to increase the water pressure at the tap and how to properly seal threaded drainage pipe. I now consider Kevin "Our" plumber.

Jay is the plumber, and on a large job like this, he will work with a helper, to make the job go faster. The first day a worker by the name of Martin dug most of the hole, but Martin had to support another plumber the next day, so Jay brought in Ramon. Jay and Ramon work very well together. Ramon finished the digging because they had to excavate under part of the sidewalk to get to the City clay sewer pipe. The Sanitation District was very particular about the connections, but Jay brilliantly came up with a design that satisfied the Sanitation District inspector, and at the same time kept the cost manageable for us. Since our City requires a City permit as well as a Sanitation District permit, Jay had to spend hours getting permits and waiting for the inspections. He did it all with a smile on his face, making friends with everyone. Also, Jay was also able to install the new sewer and plumbing connections so that no tenant was inconvenienced. I am a very curious person, and Jay was very good at explaining every step of the process to me. Ramon helped Jay, and then Ramon backfilled the huge hole so beautifully that you could never tell any work had been done, except we now have a clean out at the sidewalk. Over this several day process, Jay and Ramon, were like friends to my husband and myself. You could tell that they both take great pride in their work, and they go out of their way to please the customer. Both Jay and Ramon are remarkable, and I think this team is especially good if you need someone you can trust and who will do an excellent job for a fair price.
Description of Work: Jay from San Jose Plumbing responded to an emergency call on Thanksgiving Day because the main sewer line for our triplex was clogged and we had three families that could not use their bathrooms the morning of Thanksgiving Day. He responded within two hours and cleared the line sufficiently so the residents could use their bathrooms. At Jay's suggestion, we next had another company run a camera down the sewer pipe. Tree roots had penetrated the sewer pipe that runs under the street. The City requires the property owner to install a "property line clean out" (a sewer clean out at the sidewalk) and then the Sanitation District will come and clean out the sewer line under the sidewalk and city street. This is a big job. There was appx. $500 in permits and several days of work. In our case it required digging a hole about 5 feet deep and 4 feet across, removing a portion of the old sewer line and installing a new sewer line connection and clean out connection, passing 4 inspections (City twice and Sanitation District twice), then backfilling the hole with dirt. This whole process takes several days.

We called them out because our temperature on our shower was fluctuating wildly. We assumed the problem was with the temp control piece at the shower. The plumber flicked the shower on and off once or twice. He did not open up the shower handle. He went to our water heater, flicked the valve on top of it a couple of times and announced that we needed a new water heater. We were skeptical and talked to some folks at a local plumbing store. The guys at the plumbing store were skeptical as well; they also doubted that it was the water heater. We bought a $5 replacement temperature control for the faucet handle which fixed the problem. Glad we trusted our intuition and didn't follow the bad advice - we would have been ought $1300 (at least) and it wouldn't have solved the problem. They swiftly removed the old gas pipe as requested.

Mike did a super job. We were very pleased. He worked quickly and efficiently. I could tell he really knew his stuff!!!! We would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: Mike came and repaired two toilets. On the first, the handle had to be held down in order to flush. He fixed this one and also drilled out the screws so I could replace the seat. This was a father and son team who did all the repipes for the plumbing company. They arrived punctually every morning at 8:00 AM They told me what they would be doing for the day so I knew what to expect. They always hooked the water back up at night so we had water for all our needs until they arrived the next morning. They worked for four days: some days they weren't there all day but always left everything in order before leaving. They did have to leave a trench open from the meter to the house; I was kind of nervous because Halloween was that week, but they put up a lot of tape and barriers so people could see to be careful and we didn't have any problems. They couldn't close it up until the permit inspector came out. They charged me exactly what the quote was. I did have two concerns. One was that I lost my alarm system after the first day. They tried to find the problem but couldn't. I called my alarm company after they were done and found that it would cost a minimum of $165., possibly more to fix it. I called the company and the owner's son who is the vice president got in touch with me. He agreed to pay whatever it cost to get my alarm system up and running and didn't hassle me at all. I also had asked him about the water temperature in the front bath/shower combo as it was only lukewarm. Everywhere else in the house it was nice and warm. He came out the same day I spoke with him and adjusted the faucet settings for me. The faucet had a scald guard feature so it just needed to be tweeked. This company really stands behind their work. I have had no problems with the plumbing repipe itself and I know all the work is up to code. I picked them because they have been in business a long time and I have used them before for other plumbing needs. I interviewed about ten companies before I picked them asI wanted to make sure I would get a good job especially when you are spending the amount of money I did. I am very happy and relieved that they stand behind their work and reputation. The walls all were patched acceptably and the tile they put in behind the new handle looks really nice. Some companies hire a squad of people to do your house in one day. I preferred having two experienced professionals for a little longer but felt I could trust them in my house. They were courteou, professional and did a good job. I waited until I received the reimbursement for the alarm system to write this. I received the check 4 days after I mailed the statement to them! I will definitely use this company again..
Description of Work: Services included a copper repipe from the meter to the house and all the house excluding my master bath. This included applying for the permit. They also installed faucets (which I purchased) in my front bathroom bath/tub combo so I have just one handle to control water heat and flow instead of three. They also flushed the water heater out so I didn't have to replace it and flushed the pipe for the sink in the back bath that I didn't have repiped. They repaired my toilet in that bathroom as well. In addition, because I had extra tile that matched my tile in the front bathroom, they put tile under the new bath/shower combo so I didn't have to use a remodel plate under the new faucet. They patched and textured all the walls that were opened up to install the pipe so they were paint ready. They removed as much pipe from under the house as they were able to do safely. They also installed two smoke / CO2 alarms that are now required to pass the permit process and were available for the permit inspection. They laid down tarps on the days they worked in the house and cleaned up every day and at the end of the job and hauled away all the debris.

We had a cracked PVC pipe connecting the outdoor water sprinkler system. The person from San Jose plumbing was very professional and showed up on time. He was very knowledgeable and also tried to root cause the issue that led to the PVC pipe cracking. He checked the water pressure to the house and found that it was above 100 psi. He changed the pressure regulator valve on the main water line. He was also able to find an issue with an unregulated line feeding back to the regulated water supply. He closed a valve to turn that off. After the job was complete he went above and beyond and also went under the crawl space to check where the unregulated line was feeding into. This he did at no additional cost. He seemed to take pride in the work he did. I will definitely call them back for any plumbing issues in the future.

I chose S.J. Plumbing for the pipe repair mainly because they said they could come out within a couple of hours of my having called them and indeed they did. It was all fixed it in a couple of hours. Nicely done. $206 for this work. I chose the same plumber to replace my water heater because he seemed like a good guy, knew what he was doing and quoted a reasonable price. Again, he arrived when he said he would and did an excellent job which included some extra detail work to fix the hot water circulator pipes and valves too. $1600 for this work.
Description of Work: They did two jobs for me at different times. 1) Repaired a broken underground PVC sprinkler source (1" pipe under city water pressure). Put a new gate valve and hose bib at the site as well. While the plumber was here doing the work on the pipe, I asked about getting my water heater replaced. He provided a verbal quote. 2) A few months after the above mentioned pipe repair, I had SJ Pluming replace the water heater. This required some additional plumbing work to accommodate the hot water circulator pump.

When a leaky faucet looked to be merely a symptom of a larger problem, I knew it was time to call in a professional. We called San Jose Plumbing and quickly set up an appointment for later in the week. The person answering the phone was polite, professional, and gave us all the information we'd need to know (such as the detail that the service person could pick up a new faucet for us, but they'd charge us extra for it and it may not be one we'd like, so we should go shopping for one ourselves). The service person called about 30 minutes before the appointment to let us know he was heading over, and arrived a couple minutes before the scheduled time. So much better than the utility companies! He took a look at the situation, confirmed my diagnosis, and got right to work. He had all of the parts he was going to need in his truck, so he didn't need to run out and get new parts. I had to get some office work done, so I stayed out of his way and concentrated on my own computer. In about an hour, he let me know he was done. Everything works perfectly, and I'm very satisfied. The service guy was polite, professional, and friendly. I'd be happy to go back to San Jose Plumbing if/when I have more plumbing needs that are outside of my (very meager) skillset.

I question the integrity of this company especially the Plumber James for not telling the truth on what he did so we can control the damage. I will never do business with them again. Although Marie was very helpful. She always answer the phone. When I explained to her how to get a hold with James, she did whatever she can to try to get a hold James for me. She finally gave us his cell #s. We called and left massage, the very delay repose from James and he denile he did not touch anthing. I was shock I saw in my two eyes he was twisting the knob. Very disappointing, for lying. We would understand if he admitted that he forgot to turn the water back on.
Description of Work: We need to install the water line to the new dryer for steaming feature. The washer and dryer are not next to each other due to old house design. The washer and dryer are working well except we can’t use the steaming feature on dryer. When we called the San Jose pluming to get estimate the cost to install the water line to the new dryer, they sent James Valentine (claimed the license plumber). He didn’t come up with any solution instead he did demonstrate by turning something on/off at the laundry sink. He suggested connecting water with long line form sink to dryer. I didn’t really pay attention whether he turning on or off the water but I assumed that whatever he did he will put it back the way it was. After he gave us the estimate he left. My husband was at home joined the conversation with me and James on and off due to making a conference call. James left and I went to work about the same time. My husband who works from home did a load of laundry and the brand new washer was burning with smoke coming out. He immediately called me and asked if James did something? I said he did nothing except I saw him demonstrated by turning one of the knobs in laundry sink water supply. But I’m sure he should turn it back on the way it was before. My husband found out that the water was shut off therefore the washer was burning out with smoke. I called James he point straight lied to us that “he didn’t touch anything”. I saw him turning the water supply but I never thought that he will be so carelessly left it off on washer that hooked up and in use. I was very angry and very disappointed for not telling me the truth. BTW my husband and I are only two adults live in the house except James came by and did the estimate. We use the washer and dryer last night and a few nights before. My husband is the only one do the laundry for both of our clothes. I will never do business with San Jose plumbing again.

I had replaced the wax ring on our toilet about 2 years back. It had started leaking again, so rather than hassle with it again, we called SJ Plumbing since we had used them before for other plumbing work. I called on Tues morning at about 8:30am. The lady who answered the phone was very pleasant and when I told her what i needed, she said and quot; That should be easy and we should be able to get someone out there this morning. Let me give the plumber a calland quot; About 45 minutes later, Jay called to say he'd be there in about 30-45 minutes. He arrived on on time. I was at work, so my wife showed him to the toilet. Jay was very polite as he worked, chatting with my wife about our desires to remodel the bathrooms. He realized that two wax rings would be needed due to the carpet. He ensured there were no leaks and then spent a few more minutes talking to my wife about the remodel possibilities. Finally, he gave us an Angie's List discount even though we had not printed the coupon. As always, SJ Plumbing is excellent.

Jay arrived promptly to fix my tight bathroom faucet (actually a little early but he called first to see if that was ok). When he went to turn the water off under the sink he discovered the supply line valve was defective and started to leak. He replaced the valves and supply lines and fixed the faucet. Jay said the fix for tight faucet was only to lube and it was unnecessary to replace a relatively expensive part. I admire his honesty. We also discussed a noisy pipe when first turning on the shower. Jay explained the possible problem (high water pressure and bracing of the shower pipe) and offered to pressure test my water supply but he needed to go to his next job first and then return which he did. The water pressure was indeed high but the valve is old and couldn't be adjusted. It is not worth replacing at this time. However the effect of the test somehow cut off the water (some debris in the valve broke loose freeing a spring which closed the valve). This wasn't discovered until after Jay left. So I called Jay and he promptly returned and quickly fixed that problem with no complaints.

I called this company to have a kitchen faucet removed and a new one installed. Joseph arrived as scheduled (called a few minuted prior to let us know he was on the way) and made quick work of this. He had to adapt both hot and cold supply lines to fit (adapters on truck) but was finished in the hour's quoted time. Joseph was polite, courteous, professional, and knew what he was doing. Before he left, he answered questions about other potential plumbing issues at this address. Price included unanticipated adapters and a $10 AngiesList discount, which required nothing more than a mention of the name. I would not hesitate, based on this initial service call from San Jose Plumbing, to use their services again. Highly recommended!
