Rescue Rooter of Bay Area South - 8128

I've used them in the past. I had a warranty on the sewer cleaning that was a day and a half beyond the warranty. That was the second warranty. They charged me $453 for about 45 minutes worth of work to run the cable through the drain. The first guy who was here didn't do it right. His cable wasn't any good -- I'm a master plumber, I know what I'm talking about. I complained about the bill and then I finally went to their office. It was kind of complicated because one part of their company was out here to look up on installing a drain in the front yard, and that was about $900 so I was negotiating with them on that and then I agreed to have that done. That was before the other man gave me the bill to clean out the sewer. As he was leaving, I signed it to say the work was done. He never quoted me a price before started, which their contract says they have to, because I never would have agreed to $453. I was just upset about it, so I finally went to their office and negotiated the price down to $150. They were supposed to put the money back on my credit card, and I haven't gotten my new bill yet so I don't know if they have or not, which is why I haven't followed up on it. The bill was astronomical and they say that's what they charge when they take up the toilet, but I had just put the toilets in a week before, it's not a big deal just to lift up the toilet. I requested Oscar, the same guy to come out who's been here before over the years, and his work was all right. He did the job and he did it in good time. He was very presentable and polite, which is one reason why I signed the paper, because he said his boss would give him hell if I didn't sign it, so I signed it based on his personality. I don't think I would use this company again because of that. I called around for prices after that, and the highest price I got was $85. Something's out of whack there.

I called the main dispatch number for ARS/Rescue Rooter and they dispatched Man from the office in Santa Clara. He arrived promptly, offered a regular clean out or a hydraulic, a more expensive service. After agreeing on the regular clean out, he got the rooter out and began to feed it into the clean out on our porch. After many tries, he realized it was going into the house instead of down the main line. He said he would have to pull the toilet to get the line clear, but after talking to my husband and realizing that the water was too high in the toilet, he tried some smaller rooters until finding one that went the right direction. This took about an hour and he said that he would have to charge more than the estimate, first saying it was because he had used more than one rooter, then saying it was because it took so long. I had not been asked to initial an extra charge, though at some point he had added one to the estimate. He said he had been too busy to show it to me for approval, even though I was there with him the entire time. I refused to pay the additional charge, so he packed up and left without giving the line a final check. We have used this company for about 15 years and nothing like this has ever happened. I would call again, but request another office or technician.

Our shower backed up and we had a bathtub full of sewage. They came out to clean it out and quoted a price of five seventy five. I let them do the job, the next day I compared the price and they charged us two hundred dollars more than any other company. I only let them go through with it because it was an emergency and my husband was at home on chemotherapy.

Disaster. I spent $250 on the visit. Neither of the problems were fixed, nor were diagnosed. When done with the bathroom, the hot water had completely stopped! He concluded it was a"shaft" that needed replacing, which he could only diagnose by doing all other things he did. Also that part would not have been available in the home improvement store (where I went to buy the spray head for the kitchen). The kitchen problem came back an hour after he left. The company called me the next day to inquire. I explained my experience, but they didn't seem to appreciate the guy who they had sent was clueless. Before I end up getting further frustrated, I decided to give up. I will never go to them. I will also pro-actively warn my friends against even accidentally calling them.

This company did not do very good at all. They came out and the guy was so pushy and he claimed that he could not get on the roof. The roof is where you clean the drains from. My hubby had very carefully researched this project and the guy had told him he was going to have to take out the toilet. My hubby knew that was not necessary. Then after going to his car, he came back and said that he would go on the roof and do it. He said he wanted $349 for the job and we said no way. Then he said, how about $249. After that, we sent him on his way.

The work was very fast and courteous. But the price was very high for this kind of work.

They were on time, reasonably priced, knowledgeable, and helpful. It was a GREAT experience. Only problem: their computers were down, so I waited for a while and had to call again before I got a technician to come. This was not their fault, but I would have appreciated a call.

I called Rescue Rooter in the morning, around 8:00am. They said they would be right out, and with 45 minutes they were there. The whole process to clear the line took about 45 minutes, but they got is all cleared, and were a few dollars less than their estimate of $150.00

We were initially pleased with the service we received and all, but one of the individual plumbers were very professional. Because of the ongoing problems and at the recommendation of one of their plumbers, we finally purchased an expensive high pressure wash. Although the high pressure wash had a one year warranty,when we had problems again six months later, they determined that it had not fixed the problem. We were in a bind since our plumbing was now blocked up completely so ended up having them install two cleanouts and replace a root-bound pipe. We felt that they didnt treat us fairly because they didnt honor the warranty that supposedly came with the expensive high pressure wash which ultimately didnt work. Once we did a price comparison we also realized they were very expensive. In trying to resolve the issue about the warranty, I spoke with a manager twice and he wasnt very professionally or concerned about customer satisfaction. We will NOT do business with them again.

RESCUE ROOTER IS FINE IN AN EMERGENCY. THEY ARE A LITTLE PUSHY IN TRYING TO GET YOU TO BUY THEIR MOST EXPENSIVE SERVICES BUT AT LEAST THEY SHOW UP AND GET THE JOB DONE.

HE CAME AND TOOK OUT OLD FAUCET, AND TOOK CARE IN INSTALLING A NEW ONE. IT WAS A VERY HARD ONE TO INSTALL. IT TOOK AWHILE. IT WAS VERY NICE AND CLEAN ONCE HE WAS FINISHED.

THEY DO AN OUTSTANDING JOB. THEY CAME WITHIN AN HOUR OF ME CALLING AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL TO DO BUSINESS WITH. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THEIR SERVICE AND HAVE REFERRED THEM TO OTHERS.

They do a real good job. Ive had them out several times. I raise afghan hounds and they have a lot of hair and it stops up the drain pretty easy. But these guys really do good in cleaning it up. They are professional and polite. I don't have any more problems after they leave.

I had a bad experience with one of the employees. They pumped drains that were running slow. I had problems with an employee that tried to sell me stuff I feel I didn't need. I felt I was over charged and was really soured by them. I did do a lot of complaining while they were doing the drains.

They did a real good job overall. They were on time and they didn't leave a mess behind. They were courteous, professional and I couldn't have found a better company to clean out the sewer. They were nice and I will recommend them to other people.

This company did an above average job. They have good customer service and I was very pleased with them. They came in and got the job done. They have somewhat competitive pricing to other plumbing services in this area. They did clean up after themselves and finished the work in a reasonable amount of time.

This company removed & re-paved over old sewer line. They stuck to the estimate that they initially gave me & did not go up at all. They kept me informed of what they were doing. They took pictures before they started the job. They did an excellent job & I would definitely hire this company again.

FIRST CALL, WAITED 4 1/2 HOURS. THEY DID CALL TO SAY THEY WERE RUNNING LATE AND WOULD SEND FIRST AVAILABLE SERVICE TECH. WHEN THEY FINALLY CALLED AT 8:15 PM TO SAY SOMEONE COULD COME THEN, I SAID NO THANK YOU IT WAS TOO LATE IN THE PM. OPERATOR SAID SHE COULD SCHEDULE THEM FOR ANY TIME THE NEXT DAY AND WOULD GIVE A 10% DISCOUNT. WHEN HE DID COME THE NEXT DAY, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DID AN OKAY JOB, BUT DID NOT CLEAN UP ANY OF HIS DEBRIS; INCLUDING DIRTY GLOVES, SOME OF THE SEWER CLOG MATERIAL (WHICH HE SHOWED ME BUT THEN LEFT SITTING ON THE GROUND) AND HE TRIED TO LEAVE SOME OTHER GARBAGE IN MY DRIVEWAY. I DONT KNOW WHY I EVEN CALLED THIS COMPANY AS THEY ARE TOTALLY OVERPRICED. I GUESS THEY WOULD SHOW UP WITHIN AN HOUR TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IN THE FUTURE I WILL TOUGH IT OUT AND USE A SMALL LOCAL PLUMBER!

THE WORKERS WERE VERY POLITE AND DID A GOOD JOB. WE WEREN'T HAPPY ABOUT THE BILL, WHICH WENT UP ABOUT $200 FROM THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE. ALSO ONE OF THE WORKERS WAS SMOKING A CIGARETTE WHILE UNDERNEATH THE HOUSE.

I had an horrible experience. They did horrible work. They were suppose to fix my toilet instead they broke it in the master bathroom. I don't think they train their guys very well. I will never use them again.

THE RESPONSE WAS PRETTY QUICK, BUT PROBABLY NOT FASTER THAN ANY OTHER PLUMBER THAT COULD HAVE DONE IT. THE GUY WAS PROFESSIONAL BUT I ALSO FELT I WAS OVER CHARGED BY QUITE A BIT.

AFTER HOURS CALL. CAME WITHIN 2 HOURS. PROBLEM EXPLAINED ESTIMATED AND FIXED QUICKLY. HAVE USED THIS COMPANY BEFORE FOR EMERGENCY PLUMBING. SATISFACTION NOT CONSISTENT. QUALITY OF WORK SEEMS TO DEPEND ON WHICH OPERATOR COMES OUT TO DO THE WORK.

THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT. THE PLUMBER RAN INTO OVERTIME AND WAS DETERMINED TO FINISH THE JOB THAT NIGHT AT NO EXTRA CHARGE. FIVE STAR SERVICE!!

ON TIME, DID JOB PROFESSIONALLY, POLITE STAFF. VERY GOOD OVERALL EXPERIENCE.

THEY WOULD NOT GIVE A QUOTE ON THE PHONE. ONCE THEY SHOWED UP, THEIR QUOTE WAS VERY HIGH. I DID NOT HAVE TIME TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER PLUMBER, SO I HAD TO USE THEIR SERVICES. THE WORK WAS ADEQUATE, BUT THE PRICE WAS MUCH HIGHER THAN EXPECTED FOR THE AMOUNT OF WORK DONE - $145 FOR ABOUT 1/2 HOUR OF WORK (INCLUDING GIVING THE QUOTE).
