Planet Orange

Planet Orange has come to my house 2 times for termite inspection and I paid $3582.00 for dry rot repair. This review is a reflection of their termite inspection. 1. August 2015: I called Planet Orange and another termite company for termite inspection. The other company found termite in crawl space. Planet Orange said there was no termite. I foolishly believed Planet Orange and found out a few months later that Planet Orange missed SEVEN termite locations. 2. Early December 2015: I called 2 more termite companies and Planet Orange. I paid $300 to 1 of the other 2 companies for an unbiased report (that company does not treat termite). The other 2 companies found the above 7 termite locations. Planet Orange came after that and I basically told Planet Orange about the termite locations found by the other 2 companies. Except for one place: a rafter which is pretty high and near the attic. I asked the Planet Orange inspector and he said no termite there. Bad news is both the other companies provided me with pictures of termites there. In fact, I went up the attic with one of those 2 companies and saw termites myself. 3. Mid December, 2015: I emailed a picture of termite infestation in the attic rafter mentioned above. About 2 hours later, I received a reply from Planet Orange: "Managing inspector and **** agree no infestation there." The managing inspector has never visited my property. He made the finding, with no hesitation, from a picture. 4. Planet Orange posts 2 coupons at the top of their Angies List page. The coupons read: "Angies List member coupon. 10% off Any Service." When I asked about these coupons, the Planet Orange representative refused to honor them, citing they would lose money. I wonder whether Planet Orange should revise their coupons to read: "10% off Any Service, except when we lose money." UPDATE: Thank you, Scott, for your response. The purpose of this update is to reconfirm that the F rating I gave is absolutely no mistake. 1. You are wrong, Scott. I have a picture of a live termite provided by one of the other companies. This picture proves that you are wrong when you said "there was no activity" and " the areas identified were areas of past termites." Please let me know whether you'd like a copy of the picture. 2. Scott, the coupon you post on Angies' List clearly says "10% Off Any Service" and "member coupon" on top. There are absolutely no other conditions written on it. Thus you are obligated to honor the 10% off for any service and to any Angie's List member. Posting a coupon with no string attached, then refusing to honor it, and then making up the inflated prices to justify the refusal is simply deceptive. I want to make one thing clear: I turned down the treatment by Planet Orange not because of your unfair refusal to honor the coupon, but because of Planet Orange poor quality of inspection. The damage caused by Planet Orange's poor inspection is far greater than the small value of the coupon. I'd rather pay more money (which I did, I paid $700 for a combined termite/home inspection from an unbiased reputable company) to have a quality inspection which ensures the safety of my house. Planet Orange has clearly made a terrible mistake in "misdiagnosing" the termite problems in my house. Everyone makes mistakes. But what disappoints the most is the fact that Planet Orange refuses to accept the responsibility of its terrible mistake.

It worked. That's the main result -- no more ants. The service used a non-chemical (natural) spray so there was no risk to my two inside dogs. The technician was thorough, not rushed, and he explained what he was doing and why he was doing it. When he came back for the 30-day check-up, he explained again. My only complaint is the relatively high price. It's competitive, but everyone in this business is expensive because you're paying for the technician, his training & experience & knowledge, the truck, the brand-name marketing, the administrative overhead, liability insurance, etc. The cost of the actual insecticide is negligible.

It went fine. So far, I haven't had any recurrence of the termites. We arranged for a contract so we paid for the full service. We went through the whole thing together. When they finished, I asked them to confirm what they've done. They left off the major source where the termites were from. They had to go back in and do it after the fact. It made me a little not as satisfied as I would have been. That to me is a big deal. The rest of their work was good. They were drilling holes in our wood floor and putting holes in our walls. They came out pretty quick.

It went great. On time, professional and provided recommendations that were practical and low cost. Ants were gone soon after the visit

The technicians were great when they came out but the price was high for the secondary treatment. They charged me $18.00 per month for the warranty service. I contacted them several times by email, phone and fax to cancel my account with them and I still have not heard anything from them. The reason I want to cancel is because the secondary treatment was going to cost $600.00 for a small area. I felt the receptionist was condescending towards me and she blindly transferred me to another department the first time I called. When I called back the receptionist was rude and then transferred me to the Finance Department. I am not happy with the service that I have received and this questions how honest they really are.

These folks are extremely responsive and professional. They communicate very clearly and work very efficiently. They have excellent warranties on their work, and good follow up. I couldn't be happier.

fWe waited a few weeks and finally called them. The kid was no longer with them and they knew nothing about the samples we sent back. Another guy came out and showed him the pics we had, but without the bug could not say what it was. Then got pitched for a 2,500 foundation treatment. Seriously?

That was good. They were out sometime in August. The first time they came they were not sure how to handle it. The best part was the second time when they came in for about two or three minutes. They were very professional. They made sure that it was fixed.

Horrible. He said I would see more ants for a few days but then they would be gone. I saw more and more and more and more.......just didn't stop. Swarming outside, many ant swarms in my kitchen for weeks after..... I ended up having to spray with Raid just to make it stop---which is what I didn't want to do.

I thought it odd that I needed to show the professional where the ants were entering from. Plus I could have sprayed my house just as easy and for a lot cheaper. 2 days later the ants were back. I did get a follow up call a few weeks later but by then I had moved on.

I come back to those with whom I have good experiences with in the past. I finally broke down and got some needed wood repair work done. I paid a little higher than I wanted, but I beleive you get what you pay for and I did not break the bank, but I did not go bottom of the barrel either. I like the warranty on the work. I had some rafter tail and other dry rot removed and replaced. Just nowing something is eating away at my home was enogh to drive me nuts the past several months. Rey came out to provide and estimate and walk me throgh what needed to happen. About a week later the crew cale out to complete the work. There was a little touch up work that was left that they had to come back to do, but they came back and fixesd everything up.

Jameson was prompt and professional. It was great to be given a complete explanation of what he found and what needs to be done. I felt he was very honest with us. I highly recommend this company.

At 8:10am on October 28th, I received an unexpected call from Scott of Planet Orange to apologize for the bad customer service I received from some of their employees earlier this year. He assured me that the bad behavior I dealt with was not company policy and they have since removed the bad apples. He not only offered to redo the initial and the 30 day courtesy treatments but also gave me a courtesy 60 day service. Apology and three free treatments accepted. Scott, told me his new person in charge would call me to schedule. Fifteen minutes later I received a call from Leah. She was very easy to speak to and she knew exactly what she was doing. We scheduled all three service dates in under 5 minutes. As promised, I received a reminder call the night before and the service person showed up right on schedule. Because of the heavy rain the night before, there were concerns on how effective the outside treatment would be. We decided to reschedule for next Monday. The way Scott and Leah have taken charge, this story can only have a happy ending.

The quote he gave me was unbelievable. They told me they were not liable if something happened to my property on how they were going to have to drill. According to the deal I had purchased, they refused to do what it stated.

This is a follow-up to the review I did on September 23, 2015. I gave Planet Orange a D rating since the person who came on my previous appointment did not do a good job. On seeing my negative review, the owner Scott called me and personally apologized for it. He offered to fix things up by re-doing the service and do 2 more follow-ups after that. The first appointment was completed last weekend and I'm happy with the thoroughness of the person who did it. With his excellent customer service, Scott turned a bad experience into a good one. I really appreciate that each customer matters to him rather than being just one spec among thousands. Thanks a lot Scott!! I'll definitely recommend Planet Orange to my friends.

UPDATE: 10/16/2015 - Director of Planet Orange called me and apologized for the issues I encountered. He is sending his team to provide the service for free for the next 3 months. I will update the review after the first visit.

It was good. We're satisfied. I just paid the price of the deal. I told them what I think should be the cause of it. I think they did a treatment. After a few weeks, they came back and took another look. It was good. It was more to prevent it. It didn't really require a lot of work. Overall, I felt satisfied with them. I would recommend them. They're pretty thorough. They explained things well.

Started out rough with a no show, but Planet Orange bent over backwards to assuage my frustration and the traps have been set along with outstanding follow up from the operations director.

Everything went fine. The deal was to get one spray and then a second spray if the first one was not efficient. The ants were back. So, a second one was necessary. My wife was the one who was there when they did that spray and she said that they weren't as efficient as they were a couple of years ago when we used their service. But, overall, I'm satisfied with it.

It went very well. The ants came back. They are very honest and upfront. We are using them for termite control. The products they use are very good because they do not kill all of the insects that are in the garden.

They were okay. It was hard to get them to return a call and we still had lots of spiders after they came out. We switched to another company. We bought a deal for this service and they came out. I tried to get a follow up scheduled, which they promised me they would do and they never returned my call. It took them, like, a week, to return my call to come out the first time. It is hard to get in contact with them. My husband emailed and called. The gentleman they went out to do the service was actually very nice but they told us to call them to come out again if the treatment was not working. But they have not come back and have not returned my call. They were punctual once we had the appointment.

They originally came out and sprayed for termites. I saw some on my window a couple months later and called them about it. They came out immediately to take care of the problem since I am still under warranty. They told me that if I have any more issues to let them know. So far, I haven't seen a single one!

Tim and Enrique were prompt, polite, and professional. They inspected the attic, crawlspace, and interior/exterior of the house and garage; explained in detail their findings and recommendations; and answered all of our questions. We decided not have any work done at this time, but we would definitely consider hiring Planet Orange in the future.

i sent a message to them inquiring about their services in early July. Two months later, they've never gotten back to me. Don't wait around for these guys to contact you if you need something done. It'll just push back your whole schedule by months. If they are that busy, you'd think they'd say they're not accepting new customers. or set the expectation of when they will contact you when they send you the automated email response.

The actual service provide went as planned, however the process of scheduling was poorly managed. No response when emailed suggested times and never called to schedule once these suggested times had passed. Reached out multiple times to get a confirmation on but it was always a process to get to connected to the right person.
