Los Gatos Roofing

The whole experience exceeded our highest expectations. Our Project Manager, Larry, helped us work through all the options and finalize the details. The price was competitive, work started bang on schedule, and the roofing work was completed in just four working days on site. Stucco work required a few extra days which introduced a small delay, but the whole job start-to-finish was well under two weeks. The roofing crew was efficient, very friendly, and coordinated smoothly with the other contractors. And we love the finished result!

Jon discussed my estimate in thorough detail and was a pleasure to work with. I decided to go with a different company that was just a bit cheaper, but will definitely keep Los Gatos Roofing in mind for future projects.

I met with another roofing company first, and then met with Dave Weber from Los Gatos Roofing. The difference in approach was startling. The first roofing company used the hard sell approach, pushing me hard to "sign on the dotted line" immediately, and, frankly, I was very uncomfortable with them. Dave, however, was very professional. He respected my desire to get other estimates, and to move at my own pace. I needed to get some electrical work done first, which meant I wasn't sure which options I was going to be able to purchase from him, and he was completely understanding. And, once I was ready to move forward, he scheduled the work in a timely manner. His team was very professional, working quickly, and keeping the work area cleaner than I expected. In the end, I got a much-needed all-new high-quality roof that I am very happy with.

I went extremely well. We had an issue after the roof was put in and it was handled expeditiously and fairly.

We did extensive research before selecting three roofing contractors for estimates. We learned a lot that we didn't know about roofs and installing a roof. Dale of Los Gatos Roofing was very patient with our endless questions and requests for information. Of the three estimates we got, Los Gatos was just slightly higher than the other two; however, it was clear that they had more experience and understood the unique requirements for our roof. For example, one section of the roof was over an open cathedral ceiling. In our research, we found that this section would need to have a special convection ventilation space constructed over the ceiling in order to reduce heat buildup under the shingles -- something our old shake roof didn't require. Without it, that part of the roof would have a shorter lifetime -- and the manufacturer's warranty would be void. When Dale looked at our roof, he knew exactly what was needed, and automatically included the ventilation construction in the quote. His quote was also the most detailed and complete. After looking at a dozen completed jobs from each of the contractors, we chose Los Gatos Roofing. Removing the old roof, making the necessary repairs, and installing the new roof took less than a week. The crew started right on time every morning, and before they started working, the job-site foreman would explain what they would be doing that day, and ask us if we had any questions or concerns. Then they got right to work. At the end of the day, the foreman would let us know that they were finished for the day and what time they would return in the morning. Everyone on the crew was very polite and considerate. It seemed that treating the customer right was part of the culture at Los Gatos Roofing, and every employee knew it. Make no mistake, replacing a roof is a messy and noisy operation. However, at the end of each day's work, the crew cleaned up everything and neatly stored their materials before they left. They even vacuumed our garage! We also had Los Gatos replace our skylights. Since one of the skylights would have to be custom made, Dale let us know when he gave us the quote that they would have to return a couple weeks or so after the roofing was done to finish with the skylights. When they finished the roof, they made sure the skylight openings were sealed and rain-tight. A couple weeks later, when the skylights were ready, they came and finished the installation right on time, as promised. All in all, it was a positive experience: excellent communication, efficient work, details taken care of, and promises met.

A remarkably PLEASANT experience. Dale Carstensen was our rep. and he made a big difference. At the outset, we got a few quotes, and Los Gatos, although not the lowest, gave us the most confidence and information. Dale was the one that made that happen. He was always punctual before (and after) we signed our contract. The first day, around 10 people worked from 7:30AM until 7PM tearing off the old roof. Polite, quiet (as quiet as can be, anyway), hard-working, and clean. The next two+ (almost 3) days, the roof went on. One 12 hour day in there for Beto and Martin, who did the reroof work. As with everyone at Los Gatos Roofing we ran into, they were polite, considerate, punctual, and very hard working. Finished around 2PM of the third day, after cleaning. Roof looks and seems great, including installing new skylights (we purchased separately), and a few other things. Everybody we spoke to at Los Gatos Roofing, especially Dale, had a "can do" attitude and a "did do" result. We couldn't be happier. Use Los Gatos Roofing for a reroof, and you'll be happy.

I like that they told me the roof wasn't that urgent. They didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. We need something sort of minimal, and they weren't that cheap. If I needed a whole new roof, I would definitely consider using them. I'm not sure about using them for this small repair.

They repaired my tile roof. They were fabulous. They walked on my roof and gave me an estimate. He took photos of my roof with his cell phone so he could show me the work that needed to be done. He was very thorough, he sat down and talked to me about the repair recommendations. He was very kind and professional.

We had entered into a contract on a home and needed to get a roofing estimate for a new roof. I found Los Gatos Roofing on Angie's list and decided to see if they could fit in a quick estimate. They were very responsive, and Dave called me right back to schedule an appointment right when i needed it. He was very informative over the phone, asking about the type of roofing we wanted. He explained he would check out the roof and then go over the ideas with us about materials with samples and pamphlets. He sent a responsive confirmation email with all of his contact info. Overall, i had a great impression of Dave and this company. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our estimate, as we were not going to proceed with this purchase. However, I would definitely pursue working with this company again when i do need a new roof.

The old roof was stripped off in a couple hours with special attention of keeping the old roofing material and dirt from dropping into the attic. The removal only took about 3 hours. At the end of the day the day 80% of the new roof was installed. The whole job was completed by about noon the next day. They did a complete clean up of the yard area around the house. There was no debirs in sight when they left. They also picked up all stray roofing nales in the yard with a magnetic pick up tool. The company paid partricular attention to details and keeping the customer happy. All in all it was a perfect job . We are very pleased.

Everything was up front. They were very comprehensive and honest. They showed us options. They always made time for our questions. They were great.

Went perfect. Team started on time and ended earlier than we had expected. The roof looks fantastic.

I asked Randy to prepare a quote for a new house we are building. As it often occurs in the construction business, he gave me a lump sum. A quite large sum at that. I asked him to break it up. His reply was quite rude: "I do not break out hours, labor, material, etc. on any of my projects." Needless to say, I never spoke to them again. I simply refuse to do business with anyone who is evasive and has something to hide.

Los Gatos Roofing was very responsive to getting me an estimate. The turnaround from the initial call to the first estimate was a few days which is very reasonable given that it was the rainy season. I later found some dry rot and asked them to come out a second time. Again very responsive. Los Gatos Roofing was very upfront about the dry rot repair and recommended not doing it at this time. It would be much cheaper to wait and do it when the roof was replaced - my roof is near its end of life. While I decided to go with another roofer for the repairs, Los Gatos Roofing is on my short list when I go for a roof replacement in a few years.

They were busy (expected since it is the busy season for roofers), but they came out about a week after the initial request. They seemed very knowledgable and had similar advice (not exactly the same) as other highly rated roofers. Took a little bit to get the full quote, since they had to send a sub contractor out to measure a cricket. Didn't use them because found another highly rated roofer that came in with a cheaper price.

The team came out on a Tuesday morning to pull of the old roof. By 5:00 in the evening they had 90% replaced the roof (1600 sq ft house). Wednesday morning they finished the last bit. The gutter guys showed up later in the day. Within 1.5 days we had a completely new roof. We walked it after they were done and were impressed with the attention to detail, the way shingles were carefully cut and sealed on the edges of valleys and the chimney, the way the new vents and metal pipes were installed and sealed. A small amount of dry rot (that we were already aware of) had been fixed with new boards at reasonable materials cost. I was impressed with the way the guys handled themselves. They clearly knew their business and were efficient, friendly, and respectful. They worked hard, steadily and long. They cleaned up pretty well, although I did step on a roofing nail on the patio the next week--which was scary since I was barefoot. Randy, who managed the project, was nice, knowledgeable and prompt. He didn't try to run up the bill with things we didn't ask for. As soon as they cut that ridge vent Tuesday, the entire house got cooler. The next day was 85 degrees (29C), and with the new cool roof, the air con worked a fraction as hard as it generally did. This weekend, the autumn rains began. I feel safe and secure and pleased we got it done in time. I'm curious to see if the cool roof is going to mean we are colder in winter and need more insulation in the attic. I am looking forward to seeing my energy bills next summer.

The tenants of my rental property were saying the roof leaked so I found Los Gatos Roofing on Angie's List. I was well pleased. They came out and did an inspection and determined there was no work that had to be done right then and everything came out okay. I will use them again in the future.

It was sort of like choreography in terms of the tear down, when people would arrive and when the inspection would take place. They were really professional and we are very happy with the roof. They were very cooperative in working with these two other companies because they all affected the roof. The estimator was very courteous and very professional. He didn't steer us towards any one brand but presented them all. The workmen were great. My husband is disabled so he couldn't help me so they put the plastic down over everything in the garage, which was not in the quote and not part of the bid. They were very efficient tearing the old roof off and cleaning up. They made phone calls to the other installers so they could come in and do their work before the new roofing was put on. They did a good job with the roof. They were courteous and kept me aware of where they were and what was going on. They were done on time and cleaned up afterwards. There were no hidden charges. We had gotten several different quotes. They were willing to work with our desire to start an hour later and they were very responsive. Their price was higher than the other estimates.

The estimator was helpful on the phone, and very punctual for our appointment. He was clear and informative about my options for a low-slope roof, and honest in recommending a roof system that he doesn't provide. He gave me some names of other roofers to contact.
