This was an incredible experience. I have never experienced such outstanding customer service from any business or contractor in 25 years of owning a home. I worked with Jon Fletscher from start to finish, and I could not have been better served, even if my own brother owned the company. The project home is a second residence for me, and my primary residence is 3 hours away. After the initial visit with Jon, I had a contract ready for signature in two days. Jon took over the entire process, and I never had to return. He met the workers each day, placed tarps where needed, met the inspectors, and supervised the clean up. The job site was left cleaner than it was to start. Jon provided me with daily email updates complete with photographs of the progress. There was no pressure to sign the initial estimate and no up-selling. The price quoted was the price I paid, even though the crew had to repair some dry rot they encountered. This is a wonderful company to work with, and Jon Fletscher is one of those rare people who still believes in doing what ever it takes to making his clients happy.

Los Gatos Roofing was great. I worked with Jon who was very nice, very professional, and very informative. There were no glitches, other than a one-day delay in start due to rain. His crew showed up on time, worked efficiently, and cleaned up beautifully. They were working around our vacation, and I had no issues when I returned. Jon waited until we got back to schedule a final inspection and get paid. I would highly recommend Los Gatos Roofing to anyone.

My husband and I had some termite work done to the house and the termite company had to remove some shingles in the process. I called Los Gatos Roofing and they set us up with a free inspection right away. Great service, punctual, knowledgeable, and fair pricing. Can't wait for them to fix our roof!

After providing me with an estimate, I followed up with Jon Stirm to have LG Roofing complete the work since their bid was the most reasonable. Another vendor wanted to replace the entire garage roof. Jon quickly scheduled the installation, and the employees showed up promptly as scheduled to complete it. They had two employees (both very experienced) to complete the work and they did it within a few hours. I climbed up the ladder to see what they had done and it was a big improvement over what they had replaced. I'm very pleased with the quality and responsiveness of Los Gatos Roofing.

Everything from the consultation to the installation was top notch. Dale Carstensen is a fantastic guy to work with: honest, clear, and very, very patient. No sales pressure, no glib repartee, and very flexible. He provided us with multiple quotes so we could make up our mind what we wanted, and then made sure everything went smoothly and without any snags, mistakes, or accidents. Of course, Pedro's crew was equally excellent. Not only did they finish early, but they cleaned up exceptionally well. Everything is just as we asked, was quoted, and expected. I would absolutely use Dale, Pedro, and crew again in a heartbeat. I have worked with "less expensive" outfits before, and the old saying is true: you get what you pay for. Los Gatos Roofing is worth every penny of whatever you purchase from them. Product, installation, and the whole process in general from start to finish are just simply excellent, excellent, and excellent.

Victor was very professional and used an IPAD to show the repairs that were needed to my roof. Los Gatos roofing was very easy to deal with and repairs were done in a timely manner

We picked them because they were very, let's say, clear and detailed on their offerings. So that was a good thing, we appreciated that. However, I think when, for example, the owner said he would be around, or I think he's the owner. Basically the owner said he would be around inspecting, or looking over his contractor, but in fact he wasn't here. So he said two or three days the job will be done, but we weren't really sure whether the job was really done or not. There was a bit of a lack of communication during the process. And a lack of follow-up. Really good during pre-sale, not so much after. The quality of the work was mediocre. They completed the work fast, but there was some sloppiness. They said they were going to clean up everything, but then afterwards they told us everything in the attic was left for us to clean.

Went well. They found some dry root and fixed it all.

We looked at 7-8 roofing companies and found that LG Roofing offered the best value. Jon's team was careful and detailed. They did a great job, were fast, skilled, and knowledgeable, and there was no secondary damage to our garden or home. We had a great experience and highly recommend this company.

Los Gatos Roofing folks were amazing. Very responsive, professional and provided references. We mainly went with them because of great reviews. They replaced the whole roof and gutters around the house and installed vents. They worked like crazy for 3 days. We were very impressed with how fast and efficient their team worked.They did a great job cleaning up as well. Overall, would definitely recommend them. It's been almost 2 years since we had our new roof and we are still very satisfied customers.

We were extremely pleased with the thoroughness and responsiveness of Jon F who provided us with an estimate and a wealth of information about new roofs and gutter systems. He stopped by the house to provide the initial estimate and returned again to answer follow up questions. I sent Jon quite a few emails and he also responded with thorough answers within an hour or two. We chose the Certainteed TL shingles because they give a wood-like appearance and we're very pleased with the quality of the installation and look of the shingles. Knowing full well that it's very messy to remove literally tons of debris when an old roof is taken down, we were very impressed with how spotless our yard was after the job was completed. I highly recommend Los Gatos Roofing for quality and fair pricing... and would encourage anyone in the market for a new roof to ask for Jon.

We reviewed many different roofing companies on Angies List (AL) and Los Gatos Roofing (LGR) was by far the best. LGR provided a very competitive bid for a total roof and gutter replacement. Our experience with LGR was as good or better than the AL reviews from others. John Stirm was assigned to our roof replacement project. John answered all of the detailed questions I had in advance and was able to accommodate my unique requests. LGR was able to obtain and install the GAF Grand Canyon shingles. The roof required 24 squares. The original tile roof was removed, radiant sheathing was added across the entire roof along with a full ridge vent, and new gutters were installed. The entire project took less time than expected. LGR did an excellent job. We have had quite a bit of rain over the last 7 months since the new roof was installed. We have not had any leaks or problems with the roof shingles or the installation.

Positive experience. They were prompt in both quoting the job and returning to do the work. Courteous and professional staff.

They came in 7:30 in the morning.and finish in 2 days,we had 5 neighbor all use them to replace our roof around the same time, you know how good they are

Tad did a great job explaining why our roof was leaking, as there was no obvious signs of cracks in the tiles or in the seams. He provided an estimate and told us it would done as soon as it could. And in a couple days, they came, fixed it just before the next storm and it wasn't leaking. Very professional.

## Choosing a Roofer Los Gatos Roofing wasn't our first choice. We interviewed several roofing companies. In addition, we met with and reviewed job sites from Westshore Roofing and NuShake Roofing. I think I spoke with a few more over the phone, but didn't interview them. Los Gatos Roofing actually did my in-laws place about 10 years ago, and had a similar experience to ours. We liked Los Gatos the least based on the salesman. He was informative, to a degree, and brought all his props, but we didn't feel like he was listening to our concerns. He would fall back to his same sales line while stating that he didn't know the answer to my questions. I'm glad he said he didn't know, I'm not glad he didn't suggest that he would find out, nor was I very happy every answer was to choose the upgrade in spite of not knowing how efficient it was. ## Examples We spent half a day driving around to about 20 houses from all three roofers. I even built an app for iPhone to take photos and write comments about the houses, including a map to see their locations. Reviewing quality, Los Gatos Roofing and NuShake were consistently better than Westshore, though our favorite house was a Westshore. We did feel that NuShake edged out Los Gatos, not entirely sure why now (it's been months). Overall, we were OK with either company, though. Unfortunately, NuShake never returned our calls, so we ended up with Los Gatos Roofing. ## Over-promising, under deliver In our second talks with Los Gatos Roofing, I mentioned the lack of knowledge for some questions I had regarding the radiant barrier. It didn't seem like our roof (with skip-sheeting) was going to get the best efficiency of the technology. It seems like it works best with new roofs that only have rafters. Our salesman didn't really convince me that it would work well, but the cost was low enough that doing it correctly later would be ok. If anything, the salesman's attitude convinced me not to get it, but in order to not have to deal with it later, I did get it now. Our salesman also suggested that if I sign papers and give a deposit right away, he should be able to sneak us into the company's schedule rather quickly, since my family would be out of town and therefore not impacted by construction. I think it was about a week and a half out, and I was surprised he thought he could meet the deadline. So, I met his deadline with a check. Of course, he renigged. Almost immediately, as I was reminding him of his words when I handed him the check. I don't mind "no" for an answer, sometimes "No" is ok, and many times it's just a matter of fact. However, if you don't know, or it might be "no", don't say "Yes" to get a check, then say "No" later. Those types of salesmen are the ones that people hate. I'm a big boy, I understand you might not be deliver so quickly. It was here that I started to think again about working with Los Gatos Roofing. It was here that I should have called the company for a new rep. Alas. At this point LGR wasn't going to work well with our schedule, and they weren't really able to set a schedule themselves. My family was out of town for a bit, then we had house guests, then more guests. When it was clear LGR couldn't do it while my family was out of town, I said the earliest we could do it was 3 weeks later. This was stated in person, over the phone, and in at least one email. LGR (I should really say our salesman, but he is an extension of LGR) then said they would come out that following Thursday. I called again to remind him we did not want work started on that date and that XX date was the earliest, which was now in 2 weeks. The week after that, again, LGR said they would be out. Again, I said no. At this point, I, again, questioned my choice of LGR. However, we were getting quite busy, and we had a new baby coming, so we just wanted to get things done. Alas. Also, I should mention here, when the salesman came by to pick up the deposit, he off-hand mentioned that they (LGR) wouldn't be responsible if our skylights leaked, even though they would have remove them to complete the work. This isn't the sort of thing one should mention off-hand, though I admit I should have asked. Again, I questioned my choice. I don't know why they had to remove the skylights, except maybe to keep them safe. I wasn't concerned with that. I was concerned that they said they needed to do something, and they weren't liable for that something if it was later broken. That seems wrong. While I'm not expecting them to improve skylights, if they're not leaking now, why would it be OK that they might leak once work is complete? Also, the entrepreneur in me saw opportunity for LGR. Sell me a service that weather-seals the skylights after you've done your work. I get that it's not part of the roof, and that it might break, but you're already up there, you already know if it will or not. Just do the right thing. ## The work Yes, finally, they proposed a date that would work. It was the week of the date I had originally given them when they said they couldn't do the work while the family was out of town. They completed the work in 2.5 days. It is generally good quality. One skylight did leak. Not a minor leak, but major. Granted, rain would likely fall in the way I was spraying the hose to test, but we were having birch catkin leaves coming in everyday. That's not a small hole those things could fall in by chance with such regularity. There was more communication issues with the vent pipes and the skylights. We were told to choose a flashing color for the skylights (after we kept telling the salesman we didn't want flashing of a color he kept stating). We assumed he was planning to flash all the skylights with this color, but he was only referring to one. He also arbitrarily chose a color to paint the pipes and the other skylights without consulting us. Gee, thanks for consulting us with work done on our home. Yes, it did match the roof, but with one caveat. It matched if you were directly looking down on it. Since we don't stand on our roof too often, it just stuck out. Not to mention the skylights didn't match. I know, the privileged whining, but we just spent a lot of money on this, it should look the way we want. Lastely, LGR did put power-coated flashing on a rather large skylight. It was power coated to ensure the color was bonded to the metal, and would never fade. Of course when they were spray painting the pipes the wrong color some of it got on the new flashing. Not to mention the colored caulking that was smeared willy-nilly on two sections. This was visible from the street if you looked directly at it, and could draw your eye if you were standing closer. Thanks for the fine detailed work, LGR! ## The resolution Yes, we complained. Yes, they put a new gasket on the skylight. They repainted the pipes. The touched up the flashing so that it will fade at a rate as slow as the pipes, but it currently unnoticeable unless you're on the roof. They resolved this with only two phone calls and a visit. One of those phone calls was to inquire about the status of the repairs, as a week or so had past without a date scheduled. Scheduling hard dates seems to be a difficult thing for them to do. At last, we arrive to the building inspector. ## Concluding. Apparently getting the work signed off by the city, and scheduling a spare ladder to be left with the inspector was too difficult for LGR. See above re:scheduling. 3 times the inspector came out. 3 times he left without setting foot on the roof. No, he didn't want my ladder. At least the first time he was able to spot some things that needed to be done from the ground. The other two times were just a waste of our tax dollars thanks to Los Gatos Roofing's salesman. I should have just left the ladder out and said it was from LGR, but we also didn't know when the BI would come out. Further, it was like a game of telephone. The building inspector would tell me to tell LGR this, and LGR would have questions for the BI. After the third time, I told LGR they need to deal with this. Time past, we called LGR to see if they had resolved their issues with the building inspector. This was in conversation with their receptionist. They *had* and apparently they had a signed copy of the inspection. This was news to us, since *we* didn't have this signed copy. They thought that odd. Of course, the day after our baby is born, nay, 12 hours after she arrived in our arms, guess who knocks at our door asking for ladder? We at last get our signed copy of the building permit. It is dated in the past. And it also seems to be freshly signed, and not a copy, as there is a pen depression in the paper. I'm not too worried about dates, but technically that's not quite legal, is it? Since it's only a formality, unless they (LGR) were planning to send us to a collection agency, it wasn't an issue. All is said and done. ## In Conclusion The work done is done well. They're a pain to deal with. Be proactive, try to think of all the details. Don't leave the details to Los Gatos, you may not be happy. Then, again, you might.

After research on bay area roofing companies consisting of Angie?s List, Bay Area Consumer?s Checkbook and Yelp, I interviewed 4 roofing companies that I thought would be appropriate for re-roofing my house, and found 2 of them well suited for the job. I chose Los Gatos Roofing on the basis of 3 factors: Jon?s (the salesperson) attitude toward the job and problem solving; Jon?s description of how well the crews did their jobs and their incentives for doing it right the first time; and the roofing products offered. In the end, while I am satisfied with my choice of roofing company, with my roof, and with Jon?s efforts to make things right, I was disappointed with the jobs done by both the tear off crew and the install crew. In the case of the tear off crew, by not protecting the front of the house with a plastic sheet, I ended up needing a new window screen (torn by a wayward shingle) and had to sand and repaint my garage door due to scratches from falling debris. In the case of the install crew, they tried to do a day and a quarter job in one day - after getting a late start ? and so I ended up with gutters that were clearly not level, roofing debris left in the new gutters, unpainted flashing, a scratched up outdoor sink/planting bench and a mess on my porch, steps and in the plants around the house ? all of which would probably have been taken care of if they hadn?t been in a hurry to finish ? even though it was dark ? in one day. So while I would recommend Los Gatos Roofing based on the ultimate outcome of the job, I would hope the crews get additional training on taking care to protect houses (using plastic to prevent the house from debris damage and a piece of plywood to prevent sinks/flat surfaces from damage) and on clean up procedures ? especially if finishing late in the day.

Some roof shingles were lose around the chimney and heater exhaust vents. The guys from Los Gatos roofing arrived as scheduled for an estimate. Since it was a very small job of calking around the chimney and nailing in some of the shingles, they did that right away. I expected them to give me an estimate and a bill. But they said that they were not going to change us since the job was a very small one and it took them only 15 to 20 mins. I was very impressed by their professionalism. I'm glad I got a chance to try them out. If we need any roof repairs in the future, they are definitely on our shortlist.

I had recently changed home insurance companies. The current company required my roof to be inspected in order to provide the insurance. The inspection was done by another company (not Los Gatos Roofing). The inspection recommended a replacement. I asked that roofing company to come out and discuss my options and make some recommendations. They had provided a quote with different options but no detail. By the time they said they could come out and talk, I already had contracted with Los Gatos Roofing. Los Gatos roofing and this company where very close in price. The reason I went with Los Gatos Roofing was the time they took to talk to me about my options and help me make a decision. I got a third quote as well. It was significantly less, but I was uneasy with going with them. I was concerned about why they were so less expensive and what might happen in the future. Also, he didn't make recommendations regarding some options. Since Los Gatos Roofing's price seemed to be in line with the other and due to the service they provided during the decision process, I went with them.

Los Gatos Roofing is just the best! They arrived on schedule, finished before schedule and everything in between was done in perfect order. It was like a symphony, with each part coming in at just the right moment. As one truck left, another was there with the next load of supplies. The ?conductor? seemed to know just how many people were needed for each phase of the job. The workers were pleasant, and cleaned up after themselves each day before they left the job. Our new roof is beautiful, and we are happy customers.

We are very satisfied with the service provided. Very professional and well informed about everything that they did. It almost felt like the crew had worked on our roof before. Because everything happened so efficiently like clockwork. We are a very happy customer. Thank you Los Gatos Roofing.

Main contact was Dale who laid out all details very well with the estimate and handled all my questions and requests for samples. His ability to talk about homeowner issues helped me decide on what to have done.The job started just one week after the estimate. The three man crew did everything well. Porfirio, the foreman, had it moving smoothly over the 2 1/2 days. Cleanup was very good.

Everybody was extremely professional. I cannot tell readers how much I appreciated the honesty and integrity of this company.
