Los Gatos Roofing

We called and had an estimate the same day. There was some confusion about when the work would be done, but it was complete within a week. We were consulted before using some materials that had not been included in the original estimate.

Do schedule multiple bids. We had three from reputable companies only two of which were licensed - which is important to me. Seeking multiple bids made me feel comfortable especially since Los Gatos Roofing was so cool about our questions and looking at other companies, they supported my process. One of the other companies was not supportive of a multiple bid process and that was disconcerting. Los Gatos Roofing was very clear about the different services and price points that they offered and patient with the time we needed to spend asking questions and driving around to choose roof designs and colors. They worked with us to give us an incredible job at a price we could afford. Do get licensed contractors, they pull permits, they do great work and if something goes wrong, they will fix it. Plus you get the added feedback from your city inspectors who said the work looked great. The tear off crew was terrific. The two young men in charge knocked on the door to let us know they were there before starting. They cleaned up after themselves and let me know when they would be leaving for lunch, when it was going to get loud, and when they were leaving for the day. They were very careful with cables and the satellite dish. Installation was done by another amazing crew. They put the flashing on the new skylight, replaced a few boards that had dry rot but showed me the boards before replacing them and they carefully repaired some areas damaged in the stucco by 30 years of gutters that were too small and causing leaks in the home exterior. Because of rain they had to complete the majority of the job in two days, which they did beautifully, but then needed to come back on Saturday morning for the final touches. They were apologetic and sensitive to the demands of family life and scheduled their arrival to cause the least distress to our family. I appreciated their care so much! They checked with us everyday and after every clean up to make sure I was pleased. It was really nice. All the guys were professional, polite, happy and very concientious. John Stirm came by the job everyday and came by a few days after the roof was completed just to check in with me and make sure I was happy. Everyone gets excited by how well it lucks and that's really nice. I got the flu just after the job was done and they were so sweet about it all, sending me the bill a few days afterwards so that I could concentrate on getting better instead of having to write a check right away. It was really sweet!

John, was very informative and called back within a day of my initial phone call. Their price was comprabable to other company but went with them since they had a good rating with Angie's list and offered a Coupon. They also had to work with my contractor who was putting an addition to the back of the house and would have it's own roof on top. Although, they were aware of the addtional roof space and included it in the estimate, there was still an unforseen cost for an addtional "Valley" that had to be put in. Once we were at the point they could come do the roof, there was a delay in getting it started due to weather. I had called to say they could start the job 3 days earlier but they wanted to keep the scheduled date. On the scheduled date it forcasted rain and they cancelled coming due to the weather but it ended up not raining. I was alittle fraustrated since I felt the project could have been completed sooner than later. anyway, they did an excellant job, and even my contractor said they did a very good job. I would recommend them to anyone. John, was very good in keeping contact with what was going on.

I got bids from three different companies and all bids were approximately the same. One company had a different venting system, and they were using it in ways they should not have been using it. Los Gatos Roofing did a good job and they were knowedgable. The did mess up once and they were able to fix it right away with out any fuss.

It went well. They did a pretty good job cleaning up everything.

The house is around 2200 square feet. They came and did the work within the promised time and cleaned up. There were 4 members in the crew and went through it quickly. We didn't have any problems afterwards.

Excellent. We had to wait a while (two months) to get the roof replaced because these guys are busy and then we had rain, but it was worth it. They were fast, tidy, professional and gave me excellent daily updates (especially when it came to repairing the termite damage and letting me know what that would cost). They sent extra crews to get the work done before the next storm came in. I had neighbors comment that they had never seen a roof go up that fast. And when the inspector came and I told him who did the roof he commented that "those guys do a really nice job and know that they are doing."

Bob Kurtz, one of the partners, came to view the job within one day of receiving a request for quote. He then gave me his appraisal of the situation and promised to get back to me with a written quote. The quote came several days later. He gave me information about shake roofs, in general, which proved to be accurate and he was given the contract. Once the work was started, they worked daily until it was complete. They made a small mistake that they accepted responsibility for and corrected, reducing the price accordingly.

The estimation process went very well, and I was very pleasantly surprised to only have to wait a few days for the repair to be made (this was mostly just a preventative measure). The work crew appears to have done an excellent job and appeared to be very conscientious about their work. I did, however, have two disappointments. First, when I tried to point out some broken tiles that I thought the crew might miss because of their location (and they had thus far), I was essentially given the brush-off and told by the foreman that they "would find them all." Second, the crew left without ever telling me they were done. This was disappointing both because I would like to have had the opportunity to review the work with them before leaving and because they left my garage wide open (I had opened it to give them access to some spare tiles).

The project met all my expectations and went smoothly, from quotation to installation and clean up. For personal reasons, I negotiated a specific completion deadline and the job was finished at 4 PM on the committed day. Of course tearing off and replacing such a roof is a major job with lots of noise, debris, dust and junk. Despite this, they did a very good job cleaning up at the end of the day and there was a minimum amount of residue. No significant damage was done to landscaping or property. They went out of their way to cover up some exposed items in my garage. There was an error regarding disposition of my TV antenna, but we negotiated a fair mitigation.

They were the best of any contractor I've EVER hired!!! They were fantastic. They were punctual, stuck to their promises, and cleaned up amazingly well. They were courteous, gracious and very helpful.

Randy came out and did my estimate, and was great about answering all my questions. I just got a strong knowledgeable-and-professional vibe from him, and didn't feel like he was trying to sell me anything either. He also pointed out that our old skylights are super-energy-inefficient, and recommended we replace them. He gave me a recommendation for what to buy and some ideas on where to get it. There was no extra charge for him to install them, which I appreciated. We also got a list of installations they had done in our area so that we could drive around and take a look. That was helpful in picking our material and color as well. Once we decided to go with Los Gatos Roofing, there was about a 2-3 week lead time before they had an opening-that seemed reasonably short to me. They mailed us detailed info on what to expect during the re-roof and how exactly to prepare for it, which was great. When the day arrived, everyone was on time, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. Randy was in and out checking on things and answering any questions I had. I got a good feeling that his crews knew what they were doing. Randy was taking ownership of the job and making sure things were done right. The re-roof took 3 days, which they had accurately estimated, and it looks great. Randy even came back a few weeks later to install one of the skylights that we had to backorder. I hate posting a review that's got nothing but positives in it, but I really don't have anything negative to say about our experience, and I would definite recommend these guys to friends. One note-they're not cheap. They're price was reasonable, but they are likely to come in on the high side of several estimates. However, first-hand experience over the years has given me a strong you-get-what-you-pay-for philosophy, and I thought their price was fair for what I got and reflected the quality of my experience.

They were unavailable to provide an estimate for several weeks due to being booked up, but were very responsive and professional in their communication. They also recommended a local competitor, which I appreciated.

I contacted a number of companies but no one had called me back. Los Gatos roofing was the only one that called me back. He was good and fast and got the job done and I would recommend him to my friends and neighbors.

Two days, start to finish. Day one, tile removal, new gutter installed, installed radiant barrier, and started roofing. Day two, completed roofing.

The estimate was done in August of 2004. I did not know exactly what I wanted but he was able to help me when I pointed out a neighbor's roof that had been recently be done. He also recommended a vent for the peak of the house to help with cooling. The work was done in two days in October. Everything went well and they only found two patches of rotten wood at the edges of the roof.

Dale Cartensen was the estimator and contact for the project. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He described how the work would be done, how long it would take and what I could expect. He coordinated with the contractor installing a Solatube. He responded to my questions. He followed up up after the crew was done. The job went as described. I am please with the results. The crew did a fantastic job in cleaning up when the job was done.

John came out the day following my initial telephone call. He seemed very knowledgeable about the product and the work that was to be done. He took measurements and answered all of my questions. He told me that I would have an estimate via email in, at the most, four days. After a week and a half, he called to let me know, "I haven't forgotten about you." Two weeks after our initial meeting, I still didn't have an estimate. In the time between our first meeting and the two week wait, however, I had estimates from two other companies, so I signed with one of them. To me, if a company doesn't respond with an estimate in a timely manner, I feel it reflects on what to expect when the job starts. I also didn't feel like a valued customer.

They reroofed our entire roof nine years ago. We used a product that they recommended. They told us that it was what they suggest we re-roof with. That material was only on the market for two years because it failed. That is why we had to reroof our roof nine years later. We thought because of this experience that they might at least try to make things right. They could have cared less that this happened. They said they in no way stand behind their products, even though they recommended them.

I used another company who was excellent!

Most roofing companies are not interested in doing repairs. They are only interested in selling new roofs. Los Gatos Roofing was punctual, professional and clearly takes a long term view of its business by stressing customer service and building good will. When I need a new roof, I will call Los Gatos Roofing.

The work was very well done and It was a great experience. They cleaned their mess up when the work was finished. They where very pleasant to work with. I would recommend this company to everyone. They were always on time ,and were always there when they said they would be.

The owner was very good. They go the extra mile to clean up after they are done. They have great crew.

They were great to respond and were very professional. I would definitely highly recommend them to anyone. Carmron was the sales representative and he took care of us. He was quick to respond and addressed any issues that came up. Great experience.

They were very punctual and professional. They were friendly and you could tell they knew. Their pricing was quite a bit high compared to some other ones.
