Halcyon Overhead Door

This is a family-owned business that is very nice, informative, and a great price. The 20-something son is the employee we had the privilege of meeting. He was very prompt, professional, and knowledgeable (has been working for his parent's company for years). Not only did he do the job requested, but also troubleshot a problem that developed, resulting in an ultimate improvement in the door mechanics. He also adjusted the door's sensitivity, to make sure things were working optimally. He worked quickly and explained everything he was doing/did. Great emissary for his family business. Also, they had the tightest window of possible appointment times, which was nice, because I didn't have to cancel a whole day of work.

It went great. The installer was very helpful and professional. They made sure everything was working and cleaned up. Our garage door now opens perfectly and quietly.

I called Halcyon today because we had a broken garage door. The cables had come undone and the motor needed adjustment for opening and closing correctly. Beth had somebody come out within 2 hours of when we called and the problem was resolved shortly afterward. Very responsive, professional, and friendly. Would highly recommend again. Thanks! John

Called on a Sunday morning because their listing states that they have Sunday hours. Didn't get a call back until 7:30AM Monday morning. However, at that time, they scheduled an 8-10AM appointment. The technician was there by 8:30AM and went straight to work, diagnosing the problem and repairing it within an hour. Very quick, to-the-point, and professional. Would not hesitate to call them again.

I purchased the AL deal Halcyon was offering. The deal was $249 to replace the garage door springs. I purchased on a Monday, received a call from Halcyon on Tuesday & scheduled my appointment for that Thursday between 8-10am. The technician arrived at 8:30am, it took close to 2 hours to complete the work. The technician noticed that the rod running across the top that holds the springs was installed at a slight angle (A different company installed a new liftmaster opener, noticed the same issue, but did not correct it). The Halcyon technician took the time to adjust the rod while replacing the springs so that the rollers & fly wheels were properly aligned. That was appreciated.

I messed up the schedule, and they were able to accommodate. They arrived when they were supposed to, and they did the inspection. It was hard to determine the exact problem, but they were able to perform maintenance on the door and that seemed to remedy the problem. The door operates much more quietly now, and we haven't had any problems since.

Mario did a great job start to finish. The new unit is very quiet and functions nicely. Mario made sure that we understood how to operate the new unit before leaving. He even stayed around to make sure that we could get our cars' home-link programmed properly.

Very good responsive customer service. Took the time to answer all my questions and was able to fit my appointment in sooner than estimated. Tech was on time, installed quickly and then explained opener operations in detail. Good price also.

The technician, Mario, quickly diagnosed the issue and made all the necessary adjustments to make the garage door open and close smoothly and quietly. He explained all the adjustments and made some recommendations regarding the seal at the bottom of the door. Great service and quick!

Made appointment over phone, and Mario came on top and replaced the broken garage door spring. Friendly, knowledgable, and did the complete package -- helped tune up my garage door, lube and tighten screws. He was easy to talk to, explained what he was doing. Good price. Would use their service again in the future.

My garage door opener failed. The motor turned, but the screw did not. I did some Googling, and found instructions for fixing the most likely cause, but when I disassembled the opener, the part looked fine. I decided to let someone else deal with it. I looked at reviews on Yelp and Angie's List, and they agreed that Halcyon was the place to call. I figured I would end up dealing with the non-working opener for a few days since it is Saturday, but the woman in the office was able to give me a two hour window today! Jon called me and asked if he could come early. He arrived when he said he would, and took a look at my 17-year-old opener. He had some concerns with my opener, and he explained them clearly and answered my questions. I decided to replace it. I had been leaning towards replacing it before he arrived because a previous repair person had greased my opener with too much grease, so it spread black grease everywhere. The installation went smoothly, with great attention to detail, and the price was reasonable. Jon is friendly and personable, and I'm delighted with my new opener, and the job Jon did for me. I absolutely will use Halcyon again, should the need arise.

Truly excellent service. Only ding was our repair guy (Mario) was late due to an earlier job running longer than expected. Once he was here he was great. We have a very heavy wooden carriage door. We had a broken spring which caused the door to become jammed open. He was able to free the door, replace the springs and replace the cables. He also lubricated the door including the hinges. He was very knowledgeable and was even able to re-set our Linear garage door opener (a necessary step when a door has a problem). The whole thing was very reasonably prices for the work done and the parts used. In the past 3 years we have had two other companies out. The first one did OK work but charged us 2X what Halcyon charged for the same work (no question we were ripped off by them). The second charged very little but told us we needed to replace all our springs (we probably did not) and then put in cheap lightweight materials which were not strong enough for our big door. That is why they broke causing this problem. By the way neither company was able to deal with our garage door opener. I had to re-program it myself. The second company also tried to sell us a replacement for the Linear opener ("these are terrible, you need a Liftmaster, only good brand"). Fortunately we did not bite on this scam. There are some very poor, very immoral companies in the garage door business. I'm pleased to say Halcyon is not one of them. We will definitely use Halcyon again.

Jon fixed the rotten job done by GDS (Garage Door Services) that also go by several other names. That provider did a shoddy job and overcharged for their services. When the door started malfunctioning after GDS had changed a spring, I called them back but they refused to provide the warranty service. So I called Halcyon. These guys are the best. Beth squeezed me into the days schedule. Jon arrived in the mid afternoon, spent an hour and a half and got the door working smoothly again. The charges were fair, for example I was charged $50 for a spring when GDS told me it was $329 (I had ended up paying them $200 for a spring). I would use Halcyon anytime for Garage door service or repair.

I had Overhead Door out to do an inspection and tune on my doors in October. They did a thorough job and pointed out to me my very rusted springs. I did not have anything done about them at the time. Then, about a month later I had to have them back to replace the broken spring. They were very quick to come out knowing that my door would not function without the spring replacement. The person who showed up was prompt and friendly. He did a great job on the replacement. Will be calling them again when the other springs break!

Excellent experience all around. Jennifer responded within 24 hours on message with a quote. Later confirmed via a phone call and scheduled a two-hour appointment window (1 to 3 pm) later in the week. Jon showed up at 1:15 pm (pleasantly surprised early in the window). He quickly replaced my two springs, tested functionality, greased the rollers - everything was done in less than one hour! Very professional, courteous, and most importantly, fast and punctual.

Just heard from them to set up an appointment. They were very timely in attempting to get ahold of me to set up an appointment to use my offer.

Mario(?) arrived right on time. He was personable and professional. He gave a full inspection of the garage door opener, replaced the broken spring, and worked incredibly hard to replace the rollers, which a previous repairman some years before had actually damaged. It was unbelievable how very hard he worked to get the new rollers in place. The office manager was very friendly and helpful, which made me feel that I had contacted the right place. Service provider was extremely friendly, nice, and professional. This is hard for me to rate though, as the tune up and rollers were great. The door by itself is very very quiet...but upon completion we are now left with a non-working garage door opener. Our 12 year garage door opener had no previous issues. The service was just supposed to be for the rollers and a tune-up. While he took extra time to look at the motor, I find it very frustrating that out once working opener is now completely broken. We were offered a $499 replacement, but that is way over budget, and shouldn't have even been needed. We will now have to replace it ourselves. So while the actual service done was great, ultimately we were left with a non-functioning door that we use daily.
