+ -1 moreThe service technician arrived on a timely basis and performed the reconditioning service. The garage door has been running as smoothly as we have ever seen it subsequent to this service. In addition, we subsequently had a problem with the garage door where it would start to close but then reverse a stay open. We called Halcyon and got a service technician out. He was able to diagnose the problem, part of which related to the original installation of the door by another company. He fixed the problem, not just repairing the problem, but making some changes that should prevent the problem from recurring.
Description of Work: The company performed a reconditioning service on our automatic garage door.

+ -1 moreTechnician arrived on time to service the garage door and replace the rollers. He pointed out that many of the hinges were worn beyond repair and showed me exactly why. We agreed on what I thought was a fair price for replacing the bad hinges and he proceeded to complete all the scheduled work and repairs in a very efficient manner; you cold tell he had lots of experience. I was impressed with his professionalism and his friendliness. I would not hesitate to recommend this company.

I had bought a deal on Angie's List for the service and the tech went beyond what was included. I had an issue with the garage door being very noisy when opening and closing. He evaluated and showed me that the door alignment to rails was off causing the door to rub on the rails. He not only completed the service as per the coupon but also completed the realignment with no extra charges. Overall a great experience!

Description of Work: Halcyon expressed personal interest in my situation from the first phone contact. My garage door was about to be restained and two small vents were going to be installed, upon which Halcyon recommended that I call them to perform their service AFTER the previous work had been done because it could effect the door balancing work. When their work was rescheduled, weeks later, the service man arrived promptly and proceeded to perform his job. Of all things, when he went to raise and lower the door, it performed at first, and then suddenly the motor self-destructed! (I was not happy to hear that I'd need a new motor, but I was most grateful that, if the old one was going to crash, that it did it when the service expert was here!) He proceeded to complete the service steps I had paid for......and then, I placed an order with him for a new Liftmaster, which he returned the next week to install. It was a two-hour job, which he performed seamlessly, and, to my total satisfaction, he cleaned up after he was done with the installation and testing AND hauled away the old system. His final step was to go over the operation of the new system, asking if I was clear on everything. I appreciated his professionalism, and I would definitely recommend his company to others!

I contacted Halcyon about getting the torsion springs and opener replaced, as well as general garage door tune-up. As far as I could tell, the total cost was competitive with other contractors. Jennifer was very helpful and I received prompt responses for all my questions about cost of services and types of garage door openers available. We scheduled an appointment to perform the work - it was easy to find a time slot that worked for me. John arrived on time, and promptly got to work. He finished the job pretty quickly, cleaned everything up, took the time to demonstrate all the features of our new garage door opener, and gave me some helpful maintenance tips. All in all, very pleased with the work performed. Thanks!

+ -1 moreHe repaired it, but said there were no guarantees because the garage door is an old, one piece door.. It worked for about 6 mo., then began to open just as it shut. The door opener is the top of the line Lift Master designed to deal w/ heavy doors. It is difficult to determine if the door opener is defective, or the repair inadequate.

I was very satisfied with the work because now my garage door noise is almost gone and door opens and closes very easily. It was a good experience.
Description of Work: The customer service person was rather vague, but the service person was personable and did a very good job in explaining my choices which I did not understand from the customer service person. He was to replace my rollers on the garage door.

+ -1 moreHe arrived on time, and was very professional throughout. It took practically no time to change out the rollers. In fact, the speed and efficiency was impressive. Although the door was never super loud, it is now very much quieter. It took a couple of day to realize that the thing that is now loud is the motor. We have pets that would jump up a little when the door opens. They no longer do that. Did not do this for them but it is a very nice, unexpected "bonus". The chain on the garage door opening unit had started saging and was scrapping the front of the door. I was very releaved to hear that the only issue as a missing bolt. The metal bar the chain runs around can be adjusted for length. The bolt holding it fixed in place was missing. He adjusted it back to the right lenght, put in a new bolt and greased it very well. I should add that although there was a lot spraying of oil and application of grease, there wasn't a single drop anywhere after the job was done. I expected that something would drip somewhere and wouldn't have minded a spot or two but there were none. Would definitely hire again in the future.
Description of Work: Got the "$99 for a Garage Door Reconditioning + Free Key-less Entry Pad or New Rollers!" bid deal. Already had an entry pad so we got the rollers. Every moving part was inspected, tightened and greased as necessary. The main reason I got this deal was because I was worried about the cost of a service call, labor and materials to fix the chain as it had started sagging. It only ended up needing an adjustment as it had a missing bolt. The rollers sounded like a good idea as well. There was no extra charge. He did ask if I wanted the rubber on the bottom of the garage door replaced. It would have cost $40 but I choose to wait on that. It doesn't let in any dirt at present.

+ -1 moreOf course this added an additional charge to the bill. I initially wanted the service because my garage door would get stuck in cold weather and not open all the way. That seemed to fix the problem except I gained a new problem. The garage door was so loud and seemed to vibrate so much that I thought the door would come off the rails! I called back to have the service rep come back out. My son was at home at the time and said all he did was put some grease on the rails and told him to tell me that I should replace the whole unit and that even if the grease was effective for now, it would come back and the only way I would be satisfied was if I replaced the whole thing. Do I look stupid? Well let me address his comment. Yes, the noise and vibration did return but when I looked into what type of grease was supposed to be used on the type of unit I have, it was not what he used. I stripped all the grease out of the rails and re-applied the correct grease and guess what? No more loud vibration! And further more....I feel all he wanted was a big sale to make up for Angie's Deal. Very disappointed. I don't need a new unit. Mine works just fine.
Description of Work: I bought the deal for $99 and got the tune up and new rollers. After the service rep does the tune up, he calls me to suggest I replace some sort of chain. I agreed because I feared the garage door injuring one of my family if in dis-repair.

+ -1 moreEverything went well with John's visit to recondition my Clopay garage door. He was right on time even though I was given a two hour space of time. I told him I'd prefer the new rollers instead of the entry pad because my rollers seemed to be noisy. He lubricated every joint in the door & wiped off the excess as it trickled down. He was able to replace the long rubber bumper at the bottom of the door. There was an additional charge of $60.00 for the bumper, but luckily John had the correct size in his truck. My old one had a hole in the center from hitting on a crack on the garage floor. John also used a hammer to carefully smooth down the rough edge of the crack causing the hole. I was very happy with the service & would not hesitate to call Halcyon again.
Description of Work: Halcyon's John inspected my garage door, lubricated all joints, replaced the original rollers with new quieter rubber rollers & replaced the rubber base at the bottom of the door. The rubber base was the only part I paid an extra $60.00. My old one had a hole. John also tried to smooth the ragged crack on the garage's cement floor that was causing the hole in the door's base.

Description of Work: It was a deal for a garage door "tune up". My garage door was occassionally not opening on the first try so I decided to use an email deal from Angie's List. The person who did the work suggested that I replace the weather seal so the total charge was $60. Everything was done quickly and it works perfectly. The date of this review is 9/10/12 and the door still operates without any problems.

He was very professional and checked the detail on the garage door. applied lubrication where necessary, installed keyless entry as I had required on the deal that I bought from Angie's Big deals. He also pointed out where weak spots were on the garage door and gave me his opinion and advices on what my options would be when the problem occurs. It's very helpful tips. I would definitely use the service again in term of garage door reparing or replacing.

He was courteous, efficient and fast and cleaned up carefully, being sure to return anything he moved back to the same place.
