David was very responsive and on-time. His crew was professional and left a clean work site. I found a few minor nits with the work. David had his guys come and fix these things right away. The DSL line ended up incorrectly installed. This was due to a misunderstanding on both sides. David was willing to compromise on the price of this because it wasn't really what I wanted. I will hire these guys again. They are a tad expensive for simple work (i.e. outlet installation in new construction). I chose Dalcon because David was very accommodating to my busy schedule. He was flexible on meeting outside of normal business hours (i.e. early AM or after 7pm). This was very helpful in getting the job started on time.
Description of Work: Installed 60A garage subpanel and a GFI outlet in a detached garage. Added grounding to living room outlets, added DSL line to living room.

It went great. They called within an hour of my first call and scheduled an appt that day. Dave and John came out and trouble shot the problem. They were able to identify the problem and quickly repaired it. The guys were professional, explained what they were doing and what needed to be done. Another great thing was that they were flexible about MY work schedule!!
Description of Work: Half of the wall outlets in my 50 yr old house were not working.

It went well. John came out to scope the work and provide an estimate. He was personable, asked what I wanted, made suggestions, and explained how the work would be done. He also came back on the morning when the work started to make sure the two-person crew understood what was to be done. The crew had to spend a lot of time in the attic, not only to replace the old attic fan, but to deal with the wiring for the replacement bathroom fans. Unfortunately, it was one of the hottest days of the year, but they persevered and got the work done without losing their professional composure. There was one problem that came up, which was that one of the replacement bathroom fans had a smaller cover than the previous fan, so there was a hole into the ceiling along one side. But they managed to resolve it to my satisfaction by adding a couple of custom-made plastic pieces on each side that look like they were part of the new cover.
Description of Work: Replaced attic fan, replaced switches, replaced bathroom fans, installed new outlet.

Quickly made the appointment. He went, when he said he would. He did the job, described above. He was very polite, quick, and neat. He agreed to bill me. I'm giving him another job, right away - much bigger.
Description of Work: Several rooms in the unit had no electrical service. John found the source of the problem fixed it, cleaned up, and left. The tenants were very impressed with him.

Contacted Dalcon on Wednesday. Dalcon kept appointment for project review on Friday. Dalcon promised estimate by the following Tuesday. No estimate was delivered. Three weeks later contacted Dalcon again. Estimate promised for following Tuesday. Still no estimate delivered. I'm fed up with this contractor.
Description of Work: No service performed. Impossible to get estimate from this contractor. Two promised estimate dates, over a 4 week period, yielded no estimates. Apparently contractor has too many over-inflated reviews from Angie's list to give new customers any consideration.

David was very professional, showed up at our first meeting on time and took the time to check over the whole house. Discussed with me what I needed, and other options for what I might want. Because the house is older, it took time to get the new box approved by the local utility. That was the only delay. David kept me informed on the progress and there was only one addition charge to ground an outlet. Overall, good service.
Description of Work: Installed breaker box, wired grounded plugs, and installed three lights.

Having researched the field of possible electricians on Angies List I called Dalcon and requested an visit and estimate. David Lee came out the very next day as scheduled and did a walk-through with me to determine my needs and make recommendations. After we completed the walk-through, he took about 15 minutes to review each category of work and prepare a written estimate. We reviewed the estimate together and I authorized the work. The work was schedule to begin two day later. Dave and the electrician returned as scheduled. Dave reviewed the work with the electrician and provided necessary materials to begin work. The electrician worked for a half day and completed about 33% of the work. He returned a day later (due to need to attend to a personal matter that understood by me) to complete the rest of the work. Dave stopped by periodically to review progress and check in with me. When the work was completed Dave returned to inspect the work and review the completed tasks with me to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. When one of the pieces to the motion detector circuit that I provided was not correct, Dave offered to come back after project close-out to install the switch upon arrival from the manufacturer. The quality of the work was excellent. The staff of Dalcon were polite, communicative, conversant, responsive, informative, professional and reliable. The project ran like a good project should. I would recommend Dalcon highly.
Description of Work: Dalcon installed six GFI devices in bathrooms and kitchen; installed a motion detector / three way switch; repaired one outside outlet, installed one outside outlet; installed a second outside outlet and wired in a new fountain pump.

Excellent! We worked with "John", who came out to our home to bid on the project. We had 3 bids, they were in mid-low range. I was very impressed with John's knowledge, patience and professionalism (and price), so we went with Dalcon. This was a large job, but they were able to schedule us quickly. The work was done fast (one day, neatly (4 men on the job, they tidied everything up afterwards (perfectly). We did have a glitch in that the chandelier I ordered for the dining table hadn't arrived (back ordered from another company). John said "no problem, when the light comes in give us a call and we'll come right back", which they did. Then we had another glitch; the chandelier arrived but was damaged (again, nothing to do with Dalcon, it was ordered through another store). John said, "No problem, when you get the replacement in, we will come back and reinstall it, no extra charge". Very above-and-beyond! The drywall/stucco work they did was excellent. Overall, A+++ job!
Description of Work: Provide and install 6 recessed down light fixtures in family room. Provide and install 1 switch circuit and dimmer in family room. Provide and install 1 recessed down light fixture in kitchen. Repair 1 recessed down light fixture in kitchen. Relocate ceiling outlet (for dining table light) to the center of the table.

It went very smoothly. John Adams came out for the estimate. He was prompt, very professional, and made suggestions where he thought appropriate. The work was supposed to start on Wednesday, and be completed by Friday. John rescheduled due to overbooking, starting the work on Thursday. They were still able to finish the work on Friday. The installation went smoothly. The electricians were all friendly and neat. They protected our floors and furniture, and were able to work around our cats. The two exterior lights that we had purchased turned out to be too large for the space. Before installing them John called me and suggested that I purchase smaller fixtures. When I got home, I saw what he was talking about, and agreed. He had scheduled another contractor to come patch the ceiling, where we had moved a light, for the following week. He sent one of the electricians back to install the new fixtures at the same time - at no additional cost.
Description of Work: Installed two new ceiling lights, one new ceiling fan, re-located an existing ceiling light, replacing it with a ceiling fan, two new bathroom exhaust vents, new exterior electrical outlet with interior switch, and two new exterior lights.

Delays/Obstacles. Began Jun 4 1-1/2 days late. Was to take about 3 days but took 12+ days so far. When they left Fri Jun 8, I found that the phone, 3 lights, outside security lights, & heater-A/C did not work; sec sys had a 'fault'. Called John; he came over Sat. at 4 p.m. & made a temp fix. Worker fell thru the ceiling in the bathrm. Also, left dents in sev oak hardwd floor planks. They were fixed but drywall needs to be redone. One time 3 light fixtures weren't working; they had connected something incorrectly. They redid the stove outlet & then the burners would not heat sufficiently. They fixed it. Under cab lights started to burn (plastic was left on bulb). They were replaced w/50 watt bulbs. Burned/smoked. Left msgs. Sun Aug. 26 at 3 numbers. Tried again yesterday but mailbox was full. Have not heard back (Aug 29). It was a struggle getting everything done or redone and getting the right things put in. They are nice, but are overextended and need to be sure work is done right.
Description of Work: Check house wiring. Install new kitchen track lighting fixture, 2 new hanging pendant light fixtures, relocate 3 electrical outlets, add electrical circuit and outlet behind refrigerator, relocate phone outlet, reinstall electrical wiring in cabinet for microwave circuit, provide and install GFI outlet in garage, install 4 FGI outlets in bathrms and kitchen, replace 18 electrical receptacles, install two replacement ceiling fans, move one ceiling fan to another room, provide new 2-gang box and require exhaust fan and vanity light for proper operation, provide toggle switch for exhaust fan, add (then upgrade) under counter lighting, remove kitchen ceiling light, fixed tripped breaker in garage electrical panel, replace bathroom fan, add coax cable in bedroom, add 2 remote switches for fans, relocate living rm switch.

This job took several days to complete and the workers were very professional.
Description of Work: We built a small cottage in our backyard and they did all the electrical work for the cottage, which is about 600 square feet total. They did have to run a power line under the ground from the house. The cottage is about 10 feet from the house. They also had to install a bigger breaker box in the main house to support the new electrical lines.

I told them what I wanted, they looked over the area, and made a few suggestions to get the results I wanted. I chose which one I thought was best and they started doing the work. There were two workers and they did do the work in a timely manner. I had no issues with them. The price was by the hour, so it was kind of expensive but it was a pretty big job to get electricity out there.
Description of Work: I had them install a light on a wood pool that I installed in my back yard. The electrical line came off of the house and was buried under the ground. They had to run the line about 100 feet from the house to get electricity to the pool area.

The overall experience was extremely positive. I called in the morning and spoke with John Adams to inquire about getting an estimate for the work detailed above. He came out later that same day to inspect my house and gave me a verbal estimate. He emailed me the full estimate the next day. I scheduled for the work to be done the following week and it was completed as planned without any difficulties. John was very responsive and hospitable. The work was thorough and clean.
Description of Work: Added circuit breaker safety switch next to hot tub located in the back of the house that was improperly wired at the time of installation. Initial work was done, but when I called to ask that they repair the large hole in the wall left from the electrical panel upgrade, I was told "we don't do that kind of work." With trying to pursue the matter, no one would ever call me back, unacceptable. I later found out that the work done was not sufficient to support our kitchen remodel, and we had to do the work over again at an additional cost.

SINCE THIS REVIEW BY HER HAS BEEN REPORTED, I HAVE MET WITH HER AT HER HOUSE TO DISCUSS THE SITUATION & STUDY THE 200A SERVICE INSTALLATION. APPARENTLY, THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR, WHO PERFORMED THE KITCHEN REMODEL AND THE 200A UPGRADE OF THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE PANEL AFTER WE COMPLETED OUR WORK, DID NOT INSTALL THIS PANEL TO MEET CODE. THIS CONTRACTOR INSTALLED A 200A MAIN SERVICE AND CONNECTED IT TO AN EXISTING UNDERGROUND SERVICE LATERAL RATED AT 100A. THIS IS AGAINST CODE AND IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. FURTHERMORE, NO ELECTRICAL INSPECTION WAS EVER MADE ON THIS PANEL, OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE FAILED. ADDITIONALLY, BASED ON OUR OWN ELECTRICAL LOAD TESTS PERFORMED DURING OUR SERVICE, WE HAD ALREADY DETERMINED THAT BASED ON THE TOTAL CONNECTED LOADS IN THE HOUSE, NO UPGRADE OF THE EXISTING 100AMP SERVICE IS NECESSARY. IT APPEARS LIKE THE CONTRACTOR WHO DID THE REMODEL, EITHER MIS-DIAGNOSE THE LOADS OR WAS UNSCRUPULOUS IN UP SELLING MORE THAN THE HOMEOWNER NEEDED. WE DO NOT SELL OR PERFORM ANYMORE THAN WAS NECESSARY IN THE JOB THAT WE PROVIDED. FURTHERMORE, WE ARE OPEN TO MEETING THE OTHER CONTRACTOR WITH AN INSPECTOR ON-SITE TO DETERMINE THE TRUTH IN THIS MATTER IF NECESSARY.

The appt. was scheduled for the next week, however, on Wednesday I was asked if I could do it on Friday (in two days) and in addition they would send two electricians instead of one so it wouldn't take as long. On Friday, two journeyman electricians showed up at 9 am sharp and completed the work by 11:30 am. Very clean, courteous and the workmanship was top notch. They didn't stand around, smoke, but came right in got to work after verifying my work order. They verified all outlets in front of me so that all work was done to my satisfaction.

Initial contact was with owner via email. I received prompt/courteous/helpful responses. I checked BBB and Contractor's License records which were flawless. I expressed that I was not in a hurry but wanted to proceed with having someone come and look at my Electrical Service Panel and provide an estimate. An initial visit day and time was established but not met due to an unexpected problem. I sent Dalcon an email about this and was contacted the next day by their representative and we established a new day & time for the visit which happened as planned. A very fair/reasonable estimate was provided in person. Due to weather conditions, Holidays, and my lack of urgent need, we decided to talk by phone after the New Year (a couple of weeks away at the time). Dalcon's technician Hesam contacted me by phone promptly after New Year's Day as planned and the work was done efficiently in about 1/2 day. Today (Jan. 18) the City of San Jose came with Hesam and issued our Permit.

John Adams and crew performance was beyond my expectations. They worked in a light rain and completed the initial install so we could have power the first day. John was not happy with the way the panel fit into the wall, so he redid the install with a complete new panel and lead in wiring. I met the owner David Lee and found both he and John to be very personable and professional. John was a real pleasure to work with and would use them on any projects I have in the future.
Description of Work: The main electrical service panel was upgraded from 100 to 200 amps. They provided and installed all bonding and grounding to the new panel, matched all existing breakers, repaired the stucco, obtained a permit, coordinated with the city and PGE, and installed a duct to easily add new circuits.

Contractor had two helpers who did the work under his supervision. Replacing the tombstones took the longest. Work done corrected the problems I was having with the light fixtures. I was very satisfied with the outcome. However, after work was completed and workers left, I discovered that they failed to reattach outdoor outlet cover. I called and the two trainees returned a few hours later to secure cover. A few days later, I discovered that the cover protecting the electrical power outlet in bathroom fixture had not been properly secured. I screwed cover back in place. These oversights were due to the trainees doing the work. Overall, I was completely satisfied and will hire them again if I require additional electrical work.
