The response to my initial call was very timely and professional. The whole process took a few weeks to get permits and schedules set up. Everyone one involved was very professional, friendly and great to work with. For every step they were very thorough and explained what was recommended for replacement and why. As this is an older townhome it was time to upgrade the smoke detector and add GFI outlets that were not in place. All work was very professionally done, Dalcon will be my go to company if I have any future electrical projects.
Description of Work: After a recent power surge that damaged my Direct TV DVR I called Dalcon to check out my townhouse. Dalcon made a recommendation to replace the breaker panel as there was substantial wear on this 30 year old panel and I had already had a breaker replaced 2 years ago Also had a full house inspection done which resulted in the replacement and installation of a number of light switches and new GFi outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Chuck was professional, courteous, and prompt. He described the situation in plain English and described in detail what would be needed to repair the problems. I was really happy with the work - Chuck called a day ahead to let me know his arrival would be a little delayed due to another appointment, but arrived promptly at the new time. The work went really quickly, and they doublechecked everything to make sure it was working as designed. He called me at work with the update, and left the receipt for me. I got home and checked everything out, and it's all working fine. Our power is back on in the garage, we have the appropriate circuitry to support all the switches and power outlets, and the power is also back on in our gazebo. I have already recommended Dalcon to a friend, who is also very happy with their work.
Description of Work: Chuck from Dalcon came out to investigate some wiring, lighting, and outlet problems in our detached garage and gazebo. He provided a written estimate for the work and a detailed explanation of what was wrong and what he would need to do to fix it. He gave me a couple of options for how things could be repaired/replaced, and we talked about the pros/cons of each one. I made an appointment with him to come out the following week to do the repairs. He and another electrician came out to do the work, which went quickly. He added another circuit to the garage to handle lighting separately from the electrical outlets. He then rewired a couple of the light switches and eliminated switches that were no longer needed. He replaced the GFI in the garage, and fixed the circuit to our gazebo (which has an overhead light and electrical outlet) so the power was restored. Everything was repaired as described and everything is working great!

While I cannot comment on their workmanship, I would like to weigh in on their business practices. I called on a Thursday evening and was told that they could have someone out to my house the next day, Friday at 1:30 pm. I told them that I needed a pendant lamp installed & to remove the existing track lighting that is located in my kitchen. Dalcon Electric needs to work on their business practices. Friday morning at 10:40 I received a call stating that my house was out of their service area & I would have to pay $69 fee.1) This should have been clarified the day before when I placed the call for service. 2) If this is in fact their policy, they need to update their service area range both on Angie's List and facebook with a clearer description/definition of the milage area they cover with and without a fee. Stating that they cover Santa Clara, Alameda & San Mateo County is very broad definition.3) I should have gone with my gut and canceled but I had already rescheduled my day for this appointment. The final quote for installing a pendant lamp over a kitchen table was $660. Again, I cannot comment on Dalcon's workmanship. Service Technician was polite & professional.
Description of Work: I cannot comment on their workmanship as I declined to go forward with service.

The person from Dalcon that did the work was Ray.He arrived on time and was extremely professional. He gave me a quotation for installing a celing fan, which had already been purchased, and moving a central heating thermostat. After receiving the quote, which like many other members of Angie's List I felt was high, I agreed to get the work done. He did an excellent job and cleaned up thoroughly when finished.

We bought a 40-year-old house with aluminum wiring, and had trouble finding an insurance company that would carry us because of it. (Aluminum was only used for a few years back in the 70's, and then they figured out it had a way of catching fire in the walls and burning houses to the ground.) So before moving in, we decided to replace the entire aluminum system with modern copper. We chose Telegony because the project lead (John Adams) was very thorough and detail-oriented and straightforward. His team systematically went through the entire house, replacing the old aluminum wires with copper and giving us new fixtures. We got new switchplates, lights, ceiling fans, etc. They took out an antiquated intercom system. Along the way they alerted us to other problems in the house we hadn't known about, but I'm glad now that we fixed (like a giant rat colony in the attic and a leaky sewer line). When they were done with the electrical work, they patched all the drywall inside, and all the stucco outside that they'd cut open. They cleaned and vacuumed the whole house. When they were done, we'd spent $40k and everything looked exactly the same as it did before... but now we know it won't burn down. Overall I am very pleased with their work. The only "B" grade I gave them are for punctuality, because it took longer to finish than we originally thought - the whole project took about 2 months before we could move in. But really, that would be an "A-" to me.
Description of Work: Removed the aluminum wiring from our entire house (3400 sqft) and replaced with copper. Installed 2 new panels; installed new switches, light fixtures, ceiling fans; installed a new hook-up point outside the house for where we'll eventually put an A/C. When they were done, all the walls looked like swiss cheese. They patched all the drywall so perfectly you couldn't tell they'd ever been there.

Dalcon Electric is a wonderful company. They have done outstanding work on my house. They had found more glitches than I knew I hadn't and a lot of things that could have caused fire had they not found it. They are very good. They are still working and I can't say enough good things about them. I haven't gone over the final fee as to what it is going to be. The quality of service is excellent.
Description of Work: I'm using Dalcon Electric. They have replaced every outlet in my house, they've been under the house and over the house, done some rewiring, put in new switch boxes on the inside and the outside and have found numerous defects that had been here and that could have easily caused fire in my home.

I found Dalcon Electric on Angie's List. I hired them for electrical work at a duplex I own. They came out and gave me a bid to upgrade an electrical box. They showed up on time for the appointment. The company did what they have to do as far as getting permits to perform the work. The quality of the work performed was good. I do feel the price was high. The employee came to work on the unit and had a miscommunication with the tenant and was very disrespectful and police were called and the job was put on hold for an entire day. Due to the lack of professionalism by one employee I will not use this company again.

It's a big project. The work isn't quite finished. It is still in progress. They were very adaptable to exploring possibilities of what might and what might not work. They were patient. In the end it didn't work out. They also do construction work. They can be general contractors too, so we are looking at putting a floor above our garage or the attic for storage. They explored that but then found out that it would be too much structural work to do and that it wouldn't be cost efficient. They were happy and continued to work. They are reasonably priced. They work by the hour, and get grumpy when we want changes. That makes it a bit more difficult and it's hard to explore all the possibilities. That being said they get in and out pretty fast.
Description of Work: We used Dalcon Electric to replace a subpanel. They upgraded it, replaced all the breakers, and did some internal wiring. They also added outlets in the garage and ran a conduit.

They did a good job but I felt he price was high. They restored the circuit in my kitchen and got it working again which was great. He was nice and helpful and offered good advice about not overloading the circuit. I didn't think that was worth 400.00. But, I paid him and had buyers remorse afterwards. Overall, the service was good, could have been excellent if it was a little cheaper.

Brant came out and did a quick estimate and some measuring. Recommended replacement of the old disconnect due to no GFCI protection. He was quite a bit later than expected the next, but called to let me know which is good. He was unable to find a 60Amp disconnect, so he installed a 50Amp disconnect instead (also why he was late). Ran new cabling and new whip. Very professional job, looked much neater than previous installation. He even patched the wall from the old disconnect. My only problem with the work was the cost. $1000+ for installing less than $100 in parts seems a bit high, although there were parts that were time consuming. For example we were charged about $600 for the disconnect which was purchased at Home Depot for $49. There wasn't even a discount for having to use the lower rated disconnect. I would certainly recommend Brant and Dalcon in the future, but I might recommend you buy your own parts and try to work out an hourly labor rate. They did honor the $50 coupon from Angie's List.
Description of Work: Hook up electrical to new Hot tub. Required a new disconnect and new cabling (old disconnect was not GFCI, and old cable was too short).

The service itself was great. The issue I have is with the price. Setting up an appointment was easy, and they gave me an appointment for the next day. Rey the electrician showed up on time and was very courteous and professional. He fixed the three items I had, and they all look and work great. Admittedly I have not had any work done by an electrician before, so I may have had incorrect assumptions on price, but given the rather minor nature of the three items I had, I expected it to be a lot less expensive. I thought about sending him away and getting another estimate, but he was there and I didn't want to wait on another electrician, so I went ahead. I put that I would not use them again because, even though the work was quite satisfactory, I would probably shop around a bit more next time to try to get a better price.
Description of Work: I needed a few odd and ends done on the electrical system of my house. I needed a 220V outlet replaced (the existing outlet had the wrong number of holes for my dryer plug), an internal phone line repaired and a circuit breaker replaced in my main box.

Really excellent work. Rey and his helper were very respectful of my property, and very courteous. They cleaned up after themselves and made minimal noise while working, which was helpful since I work from home and was on conference calls part of the time.
Description of Work: Original call was to install separate circuit for a microwave oven and install an outlet for a garage door opener. Rey was very professional, very knowledgable and explained all the work to be done. He found spliced wires under the house that weren't enclosed in a box to protect the connection and fixed this for me as well. With the new circuit in, there were no more spaces available in my circuit box and Rey gave me quotes for having the work done to install a bigger panel. I decided to do this as well, since I plan to add some additional outlets for electronics and may want additional circuits for these.

Rey (electrician) is terrific from start to finish. He came in to provide a quote for an existing and on-going lighting issue that a previous electrician was unable to troubleshoot. I felt confident Rey had the skills and the desire do the job right . Upon going over prices with me (Rey carries a price list in binder of Dalcon's services - thus, I didn't feel like I was getting a fast-one pulled on me) he started immediately troubleshooting and repairing issues. I was so pleased with Rey's work I added more and more to his project list. Rey is not only excellent with repairs, he is also very responsible - going over prices consistently throughout the project. I always knew within $100 of where the project currently stood. He is excellent with communicating the needs, the costs, and then performing with great execution upon agreement. Furthermore, he is a pleasure to have around...easy going, friendly, yet extremely professional. Sarah (receptionist) is a joy to work with also. She set up schedules with ease and was great at getting back to me about times and services. Always a pleasure to speak to. Unfortunately, during the project a living room window cracked from a drill kicking back. Due to it being late in the day coupled with the unique shape of the window, a glass repairman could not make it out before a storm came through, knocking a large piece of glass into my Italian leather couch. I called Sarah the very next day and immediately she found someone to repair the rip in the couch (or replace it). I've had a few home improvement companies working on various parts of my house (driveway, landscaping, electrical, decks, and more - all found on Angie's List). Although I've had a fairly good experience with at least half of the businesses (and their workers) none compares to the great customer service and skills provided by Dalcon's staff, particularly Rey and Sarah.

Went great. I had a different contractor scheduled to come out at 10am who didn't show up and didn't call to tell me that his van was in the shop. I wasn't happy with the poor response so I called Dalcon to see about scheduling them for next week, and while I was at it, I inquired about them coming out today. They had someone available who came out within 90 min. as promised. Rey looked things over, asked me questions to understand the existing electrical set up and get any pertinent history, gave me a quote and walked through all the details and issues. The work was done in approximately two hours and our freezer is up and running!
Description of Work: We wanted to hook up a new freezer in our garage. We had electrical running to the area but weren't sure it was working or sufficient to support the freezer. Rey checked the circuits to make sure that there was sufficient power and space for the existing outlet. He rewired the outlet so it was able to handle the freezer's electrical requirements. When done, he plugged the freezer in and moved it into place.

I feel that there was a bait and switch that went on and that I grossly overpaid for the work done. I should have just told him to leave when he started quoting me $380. But I buckled because I just wanted to problem fixed. I've used other electricians before and I feel this could have been done for half of the money. I would not recommend this company to anyone and will not be using them in the future.
Description of Work: I had a switch that controlled two lights stop working. I figured it was a pretty easy electrical fix, but beyond my expertise. I called Dalcon based on reviews in Angie's list. I talked to the receptionist and asked how the pricing worked. She told me that they charged a $40 fee for sending a worker out to diagnose the problem and give me a quote for the fix, then if we agreed to have them fix the issue the $40 would be applied to the cost of the fix. Sounded good so I scheduled them to come out the next day. The electrician enters my house and I quickly explain my problem. He doesn't ask any questions or touch anything, but pulls out this binder and quotes me $380 to diagnose and fix the problem. I explain that when I talked to the office that wasn't how they said they worked. That they should figure out the exact problem for $40 before quoting me a price for a fix. I also questioned how he could know it would only cost $380 to fix the problem and what if it was a 5 minute fix. He tried to explain to me that they do more then just look at the local problem, but check the whole system. Something that wasn't explained to me when I called. I asked why didn't the receptionist quote me $380 for the fix when I called, because at this point the receptionist and the electrician had the same knowledge about my issue (none - just a light switch didn't work). He then brought down his price to $280. I still balked. He called his office and then tried to apologize that he didn't know anything about the $40 service charge and that isn't how they work. He then offered to diagnose the problem for free. It turned out to be a self inflicted problem, that was a 30 minute fix. He spend what was probably an extra 20 minutes re-stripping some wires in what I felt was an effort to justify the $280 fee.

Rey Flores and Jason arrived on time to do the estimating. Rey listened to what I wanted, made suggestions for improvements to better realize my goals and save me money. The estimation process was transparent; Rey showed me how he came up with the numbers he got. After deciding to go with Dalcon, Rey arrived at the appointed time. He and Dave were in my house for 3 days. During that time they were courteous (including my dog) and were meticulous about keeping everything clean - they always cleaned up at the end of each day. Everything worked and the scheduling of the stucco repairs happened the next day. Miguel (the stucco guy) called me to let me know he was delayed. He did a great job of patching the holes in the stucco. Sarah, was also on the phone with me several times to check on how things were going. All together a very professional group. Why the B in price? They weren't the cheapest but I felt I got everything I expected and were a good value for the money.
Description of Work: I had several new circuits added to an existing service panel. These included 3 in the kitchen and another for recessed lighting in the front room. They also did the installation of the recessed lighting.

I called them back and they came yesterday. It was confusing because the microwave switch also covers some other electrical parts and that went out at the same time. So I had the electrician come back and he is still working on it. He will be back again today. I used them again because I was happy with the performance of work with the dedicated switch. He explained it very thoroughly. He told me why and what he was doing was necessary. He gave me a discount. So I was happy with it. I have no reasons to complain. However, the current situation is getting a little confusing, but he is following through. He is very adamant about getting it resolved for me. I also had him look at a switch upstairs that wasn?t working while he was here. So he did fix that too. I was very satisfied with the first job he did. His price was a little bit more than the first time I called, but he adjusted as much as he could and I was satisfied with it when I heard his explanation. I haven?t had any problems with the first job and it looks like it?s excellent. His responsiveness and punctuality were both very good. His professionalism was excellent and I didn?t have any problems with that. I would use their services in the future too since I have used them twice now. I have no reasons to not use them. The latest fan situation hasn?t yet been resolved, but it has been good so far.

We received a non-emergency service call from this potential customer few days before Christmas. The customer wanted installation of a chandelier and 3 light fixtures in the house. At that time, most of our service technicians were finishing up ongoing jobs and handling other electrical emergencies. We set up a tentative appointment with the homeowner based on the availability of a service technician pending a confirmation. A few hours before the appointment time approached, no service technician were available yet and we call the homeowner to reschedule another appointment. We were truly disappointed when the homeowner never responded after leaving them another message.

Ray and David are great guys. The installation of the grounding wire, the repair of the stucco work and the service upgrade itself were all great. The replacement of the existing panel with the new panel had some difficulties. These difficulties were partly to do with my existing environment and how the previous owner had trenched the service, but there were other difficulties as well. Overall, I am pleased with the outcome. I would have liked to have seen things go more smoothly, and lingering issues resolved more promptly. I would use Dalcon again, and would recommend their services.
Description of Work: Dalcon was contracted to upgrade my electrical service from 100amps to 125amps, replace my old panel with a new one, repair the stucco damaged in the process, and install a new ground for the new panel.

I called the Dalcon Electric number the night before about replacing a 2-pronged electrical outlet with a 3-pronged outlet in my family room in order to hook up a newly-purchased HD TV. Rey, the electrician, showed up promptly at 10:00 am. and proceeded to install the requested outlet. He wrote up the estimate, explained the options and after my decision, proceeded promptly with his work. The work was done quickly and efficiently. He gave me a 15% senior discount to my surprise - I am a senior. Additionally, he even set up my HD TV and DVD player at no charge! I was very impressed with his friendly, but professional manner and would not hesitate to call Dalcon Electric again for any electrical concerns in my home. I was very pleased with the overall experience.

Very, very well. From response to original request - very fast. Timely, punctual, respectful of home. Great office/scheduling support from Sarah. Rey is highly professional and relayed information in a way that we felt we were making informed decisions.
Description of Work: We had a list of repairs. Outlets in kitchen had ceased to work and that was found to be an arcing in the fuse box - very serious. We had a pot light not working and added another. An outside commercial quality light had ceased to work and the electrician (the genius Rey!) discovered just a loose contact issue that meant a low cost fix. They changed out 4 under the counter light fixtures that I had bought. Checked out the troublesome exhaust fan over the stove and fund that the circuit board was fried - that means we must look more into to this issue ourselves - but we know the problem now. Bookcase puck lighting had quit and was found to be a bad outlet only.
