Great - Julian explained everything, did the work, and it was fantastic service. I feel confident in their service. Our house is old, built in 1917 and thus there are always 'surprises' when working on an older home. Dalcon is great for this.
Description of Work: electrical overview of the service, including multiple estimates for various services. Julian was patient and thorough and explained everything carefully. We opted for a few of the estimated services, including installation of several lighting fixtures and working in our attic to cut through the bathroom ceiling. All of the work was done beautifully and the cleanup was perfect. they are returning again to complete more of the estimated work. Reliable, professional and highly recommended.

They should not post open hours if no calls on weekends. The most positive thing I call say is the finally called me around 2:30pm Monday. By that time, I already had another company call and make an appointment with me.
Description of Work: I had a power loss in the house and needed someone to check it out. I left an voice message since they say they are open on Sunday but received no call.

Chuck was very professional. He checked out the outlet to make sure it was the kind to hook up a ceiling fan. Then he sat down with me and went over the cost. Then he installed the ceiling fan.

Contacted Dalcon Electric to get an estimate to install a new lighting fixture over my kitchen island. Julian came out and explained what the job would entail, the cost of the job and gave me some background information about Dalcon Electric. The job included removing the canned lighting, installing the appropriate electrical fixture for the new light, repairing some ceiling drywall then installing the new fixture. The cost of the job was good and included the repair of the drywall so I didn't have to find another contractor to do that portion of the job. Julian installed the fixture and did a great job. He was very careful about my home, wearing booties when he was inside, and making sure that everything was cleaned up when the job was finished. Will definitely use them for my next electrical job and will recommend them to my friends.

These guys are pros. They know how to run a business and the value of reputation. The company returned my call quickly after I contacted them through Angie's List. The estimator came by the next day and the installation was scheduled and completed the day after that. Very timely and punctual. Because the Kenmore oven we bought was an inch deeper that the GE it replaced, the oven wouldn't slide all the way under the the counter. (I thought these dimensions were standard in the industry. Apparently, Kenmore didn't get the memo.) The back of the oven was blocked by the electrical conduit, so the oven stuck out an inch. The electrician came up with a creative code-compliant solution in which he installed a three prong outlet in the wall and routed the cord through the back inside of the oven and out the top. This way no clearance behind was required. He worked his behind off to get this done and had to install the wall outlet three or four times and work around the shoddy construction workmanship. Their estimate was for three hours, but it took four. They cleaned up before and after and were very respectful of our home. I think they're a bit expensive, but well worth it. They're licensed, bonded, and insured so you know you're getting value for the money and minimum headaches.
Description of Work: Installed a 3 prong outlet and cord for our new oven. Sounds easy, right?

I found Dalcon Electric on Angies List and contacted them about electrical work at my house---changing current existing lights to recessed LED's and adding wall heaters in an large family room underserviced by the existing forced air furnace. The technician arrived at the agreed-on time. He was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable, and after reviewing the scope of work provided an estimate right there. I am too busy with a kitchen remodel to proceed with Dalcon to contract with them at this time but plan to contact them and move ahead soon.

Very professional. Rey was excellent at communicating everything before and during the project. In that respect, Dalcon was far better than other companies we contacted. A+ for that. We are very happy with the results, The flow of our living room is much better with the TV above the fireplace and no internet cables, lights blinking in any of our bedrooms. I was concerned about the height of the TV, but it angles downwards nicely and it is a big improvement. The audio system was my design. I have an unusual, old passive subwoofer system. Most people do not understand these things, but they do work well and I didn't see the point of buying new speakers. However, the wiring can be a little tricky and they got the sub connections backwards, which I corrected after they left. No problem, it was outside of their knowledge though. Wehave internet phone service, but we used the old house phone wiring to connect our answering machine in the kitchen to our Ooma hub, which was moved to a different connection in the living room as part of the rewiring. After the Ooma was reconnected we lost the house wiring connection. We now just use wireless connections for the phones, which works fine. Rey tried to fix this many ways, but I suspect my previous "improvements" to the wiring system prevented a logical, straightforward fix. This was actually outside the scope of the work we had discussed and so Rey didn't have a chance to investigate and plan for this work. We never lost phone service and our answering machine is now in the living room instead of the kitchen. All in all, I was very pleased. Changing the living room configuration, upgrading to 5:1 home theater and hiding cables and equipment from view was worth the cost. Rey was a terrific crew chief and communicator.
Description of Work: Wired our house for 5:1 home theater, mounted the TV above the fireplace -including running HDMI and speaker cables behind sheetrock, installed and wired a pair of ceiling speakers (for surround sound), rewired our internet connections to put the router and switch in a closet

When I contacted Dalcon, the customer service told me there would be a 'out of area' fee before even seeing the job. When I balked, management said they would waive it. Julian came on time, did an excellent job and did exactly the job needed. Since it was an easy fix, (my error). I was charged only the 'waived' travel fee

My electrician, Julian, was great overall. He is very nice and helpful, and he went out of his way to explain things to me I didn't quite understand (I know *nothing* about electrical systems!), even for items beyond the scope of my original request. Julian did a lot of work on my place, and he did a fantastic job. The only reason for my "B" grades is that I was told the job would take 2 days, but in fact, it will take about 7 days of workers being in my place total. Overall, though, I am very happy with the work that's been done, and I will definitely call Julian / Dalcon for any work I might need done in the future.

Electrician Jeremy came on time, and worked through the mess our house was as we had just moved in. The 1.5 hour job was expensive in my opinion - our hall and garage have no grounded lines and I didn't feel he was forthright with his original assessment ( I needed new three prong plugs for new washer-dryer ) that the three prong outlets basically provide no added protection in lieu of the two prong outlets already there, which I could have drawn and attached my washer to anyway. The GFCI outlet install was good and seemed thorough; Jeremy was also very courteous, and painstakingly explained everything he was doing, and interfaces well with the other contractors out there who we're working with power tools on other things. I would say the workmanship is very good; just be sure what you want and don't have them propose options if you want to save some money. I don't think I will use them again - they were a tad too expensive for me. He did specify the exact cost beforehand.

I met with Ray and discussed all the items we wanted done. Ray went over each one and priced them out in a list. He then wrote up a contract and told us about their guarantee, the fact that they are bonded, etc. I was going to talk to more electricians but I liked his prices and his straightforward approach. Ray's prices weren't the lowest I would have liked but I felt he provided a professional service. So we decided to work with him. He came promptly that same week with two helpers and in a short day completed all of the work in a professional and neat way, including cleaning up the floors after they worked. The team was polite and focussed. We are definitely open to working with them again.
Description of Work: Replaced outlets in kitchen with modern outlets. Troubleshot several outlets and switches to figure out why they were not working or what they were supposed to do. Fixed them. Installed outlets. Tested loose wires in the garage and safely boxed them so drywall could be installed.

They came immediately, very prompt. They basically tried to sell us a service panel for $6450. Only after the installation would they trouble shoot the circuits in the house. We had another couple of electricians look into our problem and they actually did trouble shooting on the spot and diagnosed the problem. A new service panel was overkill in their opinions. New dedicated circuits were required to avoid overloading the circuit in question for a price of about $1000. Dalcon's work is not in question and they are available promptly and willing to do the work very soon. Perhaps because of their 20 year warranty, they feel replacement of the service panel was required. Not being an electrician it's hard to say.

I called two days before Thanksgiving. Rey came the next morning with a crew of two helpers. He quickly diagnosed the problem and estimated the cost. It was a pretty big job, but he had all the necessary supplies available. He kept the job site clean and kept me informed at all times of what was being done. It took about 8 hours to run all new wiring from the main panel to the kitchen. When the job was done, they cleaned up so that there was no evidence of the major work. Best of all, I had both oven and cooktop justin time for Thanksgiving. I was very happy with the results, and would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Rewired oven and cooktop circuits from main panel. Original house wiring had both oven and cooktop on the same circuit breaker, which had resulted in burned wires - a dangerous situation! The appliance repairman said that neither appliance could be safely used until the wiring was redone.

This was by far the worst Angie's List experience EVER. I hope that Angie's List excludes this vendor from their listings in the future: 1) They cancelled on us twice, both calls were received after they were already supposed to be at the location. We live 30 miles from the property that was to be worked on, so we had taken the day off of work, driven up there and waited, and only then were told that they weren't coming. 2) The sub-contract out the work--you won't be working with Dalcon. The first visit was going to be from Mike Counsil Electrical, and apparently they received wrong information from Dalcon (Sarah). This isn't acceptable either as sub-contractors aren't why I go to Angie's List--and they don't tell you ahead of time. 3) They are either incompetent, or they don't care. When we were trying to better understand why they weren't coming or express how ridiculous it was that they were canceling AGAIN, they blew us off. They may be overbooked now, but I assure you with this lack of professionalism--they should be easy to book in the future--they just won't bother to show up.

He did a thorough inspection of our electrical setup first, then took care of reconnecting/rerouting and related requirements in our living room area. That included a change to enable us to turn an outside light on and off at one switch only, rather than the previous two-switch setup. He also advised us of a potentially problematic electrical situation in the attic/crawl space, which we will get taken care of as soon as we can afford to have more work done (this has been an expensive month, one way and another!).

I had an old and erratically working X-10 system to control the outside lighting around the house. I called two different electricians to take a look. They could not figure out the problem, probably because they did not understand how the system worked. Eventually I called Dalcon Electric. Chuck and Billy came over and figured out that the problem was originating from a noise in the circuit. They worked for several days to replace the controller with a RF-based unit. They also changed all of my old transformers. The Chuck-Billy team was very nice to deal with. They were professionals, they were very responsive and they understood what they were doing.

They came when they said they would come. The pricing was brought forward in advance. They don’t charge by the hour but they charge by what the job is. We did get off to a rocky start with my bid being misplaced (just after the walkthrough we had a severe rain storm and Dalcon had numerous emergency calls). Dalcon apologized and sent out another representative that would be directly in charge of my work project to do another walkthrough along with the original representative. I had three companies bid on the rewire project and decided to go with Dalcon Electric. After that things went very smoothly. Dalcon estimated the work to be accomplishid in three weeks and finished to the date. They were very cooperative working around some dental and doctor appointments I had previously made. The workcrew consisted of three people: Chuck (in charge of the project), Billy and Stevie (a trainee with an abundance of exuberance and hustle). The team was always on time, very personable and polite. Chuck and Billy always kept me informed each day as to what to expect and where they would be working (inside, outside, attic, crawl space under the house or room). Dalcon handled getting the required permits, setting up city inspection schedules and working with PG&E to schedule the power shutoff while the new electrical panel box was installed. Having a house rewired is a noisey, intrusive and at times disconcerting project by the nature of the beast but Dalcon made it go well and very tolerable. With a project like this you have to trust the crew to do what is necessary and I found this easy to do. If I had any questions about the work or concerns Chuck or Billy always had time to address them. They were respectful of my belongings, covered items when needed and always cleaned up after themselves daily. Smoke and carbon dioxide detectors were added to the bedrooms and living room to bring my house up to code and hard wired installed so that if one goes off they all go off. I now have a house that is electrically safe, up to code and a place where I can rest easy as well as finally grounded (no more buzzing in my guitar amp). I was a little concerned about some of the necessary "holes" in my walls but thanks to Billy's expertise you would not be able to tell where they were. The patching, texturing and painting that was done surpassed any expectations I had at the beginning of the project. I was also impressed to have the owner of the company (Dave Lee) drop by on a couple of occaisions to see how the work was progressing, make sure I was satisfied with the work being done and to answer any questions I had about the project. He even gave me a bid on repainting the utility room (the only room in the house I had not repainted previously) and I will be taking him up on the offer. I would highly recommend Dalcon Electric to friends and neighbors. I have nothing but praise and respect for the work that was done, how I was treated and their professionalism.
Description of Work: I selected Dalcon Electric to completely rewire my house and add or change some lighting fixtures. The rewire was basically to add a ground wire to the existing electrical outlets in the house (old outlets were two pronged except for a few in the kitchen), make six outlets that were wired to light switches "hot" full time and to install overhead lighting in four rooms and change the lighting fixtures in two bathrooms. During the initial walkthrough it was also found that my electrical panel needed to be replaced. The old panel (Zinsco Panel Box) was a brand that historically had been proven to be a hazard (backed up by alerts and reviews on the internet) with replacement breakers near impossible to find. Also if the panel was not replaced the electrical work could not be guaranteed (due to the make of the Panel Box). Dalcon also suggested installing a subpanel for the house in the utility room. I was going to ask about this possibility as going outside to flip a breaker when I needed work to be done or to flip a tripped breaker was an inconvenience. During our talk I asked about upgrading the panel to cover any future electrical needs and Dalcon agreed to make the upgrade. Dalcon also made some suggestions about the rewiring of the garage to accommodate any future plans I might have regarding using it as a workshop. Dalcon also included in their bid to do any drywall and minor stucco repairs that would be required at no additional cost as well as a house cleaning when the job was competed. Out of three bids their price was in the middle. I also found that their attention to little details like putting on plastic "booties" when they came inside the house (even when I invited them not to) impressive. This led me to believe they would attend to the little details as well as the big ones and I was correct.

I had a couple things that needed to be done electrically around the house that were beyond my abilities so I called Dalcon and they came out at the agreed upon time. They quickly discovered that the outlets that went down were all connected to a single GFC outlet and that it was wired incorrectly. So they fixed that. I also had some exposed wires that needed to be capped in a recently renovated bathroom and have the light fixture installed and they took care of that too. The only thing I didn't like was that the apprentice misidentified the color of the existing fixtures in the bathroom and used the wrong color switch. I didn't notice until they left but didn't care enough to call them back.

Their price is not the lowest, but every penny is worth it. Rey came over to give me an estimate and he and his teammate came over to install the recessed lights in our house. He is very professional and extremely thorough, which I believe is an important traits for an electrician. We had to get an inspection from the city and the inspector showed up many hours late, but Rey came back and patiently waited to get it done. After a few months, one of the light went out and it was not the lamp. I called Rey and he immediately returned and repaired with no charge (it was a defective ballasts). I highly recommend Rey.

Several workers from Dalcon came to our house. They inspected several issues (an electric circuit that didn't work, an open splice, an outdated electric panel, and a light fixture). They presented a detailed estimate on the cost to do the repairs. We go the feeling that Dalcon wasn't the cheapest option, but that they were professional and careful. When we agreed, they obtained permits and did the work. The electricians were courteous and thorough, and cleaned up when they were done. They explained ahead of time what work needed to be done and how much it would cost. In the end, we paid less than the estimated cost because they found an easier way to do some of the repairs. (They also threw in a couple repairs for free: they installed a new USB electric outlet.) We were happy with the work.
