+ 0 moreThey cut a hole in the ceiling because there wasn’t access to the ceiling, put in a vent in the bathroom and put it up on the roof. They were very good in coming out, giving us an estimate and telling us what work they were going to do. They were professional and responsive. They did a good job, and we were very happy with the result.
Description of Work: We used AAA Electric to install a ceiling fan in the bathroom, and to put in new switches for both the fan and the bathroom light.

+ -1 moreSaid he would come by at 4pm and charge a flat $200 to fix our flickering lights no matter what the problem was. Said he would call at least an hour ahead if he was running late. When I called at 3:45pm to tell him I was running 5 minutes late, said he was at the doctor's and couldn't make it at 4pm. Then suggested re-scheduling to 6pm. Called again at 5:45pm. He was at the wrong place (I'd spelled out the address before but he somehow missed it). Finally showed up at 6:15pm. Raised his price to $300 because "it's a big house." At that point, the conversation was over and we parted ways.
Description of Work: No service was performed. We declined to use him.

Description of Work: Our electrical panel needed to be up graded in a bad way. We had put it off until half the house shut down at one of the hottest times of the year. I call a few electricians and was ready to pay what ever it took to get the job done but no one would call be back. I finally decided to go on Angie’s List to see how I could find. Called AAA Electric based on the reviews and they came out that day and started work the next. They did what they said they would do plus a few extra thing that they felt needed to be upgrade to code. They even dealt with the City when we had the inspection.

+ -1 moreI called AAA Electric on Friday morning and talked to Wallis T***. He gave me an estimate over the phone and scheduled the work for the following Monday. He told me to give him a call if I needed any help while I was shopping for the porch light. He and his helper arrived on time and got right to work. He asked many questions to make sure that he knew exactly what I wanted done. He completed the work efficiently and cleaned up before leaving. He also explained how and why he installed the switch and the outlet. He even moved a speaker wire for us (at no extra charge) while he was under the house. He also told me to give him a call if we had any questions or problems. Mr. T*** was very courteous and professional. I will certainly call AAA Electric again for any electrical work that needs to be done.
Description of Work: They installed a porch light and light switch, an electrical outlet and re-routed an electrical line.

The installation was excellent with attention to detail in the finished look. Also was very careful about clean up and not tracking dirt in from the crawlspace.
Description of Work: Added two new GFI outlets for electronic equipment (including one outside), ran line to circuit board and installed new circuit breaker.

+ 0 moreOverall, I wouldn't recommend against AAA Electrical. I believe the electrician was competent and did the job technically right. However, I would be inclined to use a different electrician for the next job because I thought AAA's communication and customer service left something to be desired. Also, I am not thrilled with the look of the outlet as installed, although I am sure it will work fine.
Description of Work: We called AAA Electrical to replace our existing porch light with a new one we purchased and to install an outdoor outlet on the side of the house. When the electrician came by to give a quote, we received several prices based on various ways to install the outlet. The electrician was a bit pushy, and kind of jumped into talking prices before we had good information about the work that was needed and why. During this same visit, the electrician discovered the porch light was not up to code and additional installation work would be required. I appreciated his diligence discovering this on the first visit and for his desire to do the job right. The day they came back to perform the work, the electricians arrived late. This was especially an issue since my wife had to change her work schedule in order to be home at the agreed upon time. They were able to complete all the work at the agreed upon price and did a good job cleaning up afterwards. My only real complaint with their work is the outside outlet was installed high off the ground in the middle of the wall. I am not sure why this had to be done since our other outdoor outlet is in the normal location. There may have been a reason to do it this way, but I wasn't made aware of it and overall think the result looks hokey.

+ -1 moreWillis was great. After explaining the problem and the symptoms he was confident that he could fix it right away and gave a reasonable estimate. He set to work and found some burnt out wiring in a light fixture that was causing the problems. He was able to cut out the bad section of wire, rewire the fixture and insulate the fixture so there would be no futher problems. It only took him about an hour from start to finish. He was very friendly and nice to speak with.
Description of Work: Toubleshoot malfunctioning lights.

The provider was able to quickly assess the situation and utilize an exterior access to minimize any cutting of exposed wallboards. The installation was quick and the crew was professional. The final cost was within the $250-$350 estimate I was quoted over the phone. I am very satisfied with the work and would use this service again.

+ -1 moreThey were very professional. They discovered the source of the problem quickly. Once the problem was diagnosed they spent the rest of the time replacing the faulty socket. They needed to cut a bigger hole in the sheetrock and it took longer than they expected to fit the new socket in the space available. They cleaned up very thoroughly after they were done. They noted that we had very few circuits in the house and gave me a reasonable quote for adding new ones. They took about 1 hour to complete their work.
Description of Work: One circuit in the house would not work. The breaker would not reset. They diagnosed a miswired GFI socket that had burned out and replaced it with a new one.

+ 0 moreGreat job. They were a little late coming over, but they called and let me know. They were very neat and courteous. They came with a variety of lights so I could choose one. The light was included in the price. They did not try to sell me extra services. Everything looks and works great.
Description of Work: Willis and Frank replaced wiring in our kitchen. Our overhead light had burnt out and caused the wires in the ceiling to burn. They climbed up in our attic, replaced the old wiring and put in a new light.

He couldn't fix the problem since it was related to PGand E-but he wrote out all the notes so I could tell them exactly what the problem was. He gave us a quote over the phone and was upfront with the price. He was very personable and made suggestions on what we could do to prevent problems in the future. I would highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreWillis was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He immediately identified the problem with my vague description over the phone and gave me a high and low estimate. We have an unsafe dryer outlet connection and it burnt out the wiring. He came out and fixed it in about an hour. He replaced the dryer outlet and connection wiring. He also moved the 120V connection and created a separate outlet (it was grouped together). As a bonus, he put our breaker panel cover back on. My only minor complaint is he came at the very end of the time frame we set. I recommend calling any contractor the day of an appointment to confirm the time and any necessary materials and I did so.
Description of Work: Replaced burnt dryer current connection and replaced illegal dryer outlet.

He also recommended upgrade to a better model that could handle both 1st and 2nd floors (the previous unit only covered 1st floor, so according to him, it's not entirely safe e.g. hair dryer in master bath), with minimal incremental cost. Overall very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Did troubleshooting on why a lot of outlets at the house did not work, traced down to a faulty GFI outlet. Replaced the GFI outlet to a better unit that covered both floors.

+ -1 moreOver the phone I asked for a circuit panel replacement estimate at 10 AM. AAA Electric was there at two. We discussed the work to be done and I was quoted the same price for a 200 AMP panel replacement that a big advertiser had given for a 100 AMP panel. The work was started the next afternoon and the electrical work was completed the next day. Total time without power was less than 5 hours. A couple of junction boxes were added, some previous electrical work was cleaned up and the panel was properly grounded. The stucco surrounding the box was quickly patched, followed by a successful San Jose permit inspection. All work was professional done, these folks take evident pride in their work.
Description of Work: Replaced 50 year old 100 AMP electrical panel with state of the art 200 AMP electrical panel. Added 2 junction boxes. Ran ground to external plumbing. Cleaned up work done by previous contractor.

He would only quote me for the entire work which is 10 times more than other places i had inquired. Not a good listener.

+ -1 moreWillis is the best we have ever had to do any kind of work on our house. The workmanship was excellent. He was much less expensive than the other two proposals we received. He would recommend less expensive ways to do things which we found refreshing. He didn't cut corners, made sure everything was up to code and was very professional and yet fun and friendly. He would find small things that needed fixing, that weren't on our list, and fixed them. Some of our recessed light fixtures needed adjustment and he took care of it, all of this at no charge, unbelievable! If he was going to be late, he always called us to let us know. He even brought us a sandwich one day! He is an expert at electrical work and probably anything he does. One day my cleaning lady came while he was here and he noticed a leak coming from her car and helped her with it. This is the kind of guy he is. I could go on and on but hopefully you get the idea, and no we are not related to him, I had never met Willis before. We would hire Willis and his assistant Frank again in a minute. We very, very highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Willis and Frank upgraded the main electrical panel, pulled in three new power lines for a new heater, air-conditioner and kitchen remodel. Installed two new ceiling fans, a bathroom light fixture, replaced two recessed light fixtures, installed an outside electrical receptacle and replaced several electrical light switches.

They estimated $3000 to install a sub-panel in my garage plus would not do the job unless entire house was upgraded to 200A service (additional $2500). This was despite the fact that there was 60A spare circuit in my existing panel. Due to the fact that they would not come to the house to properly estimate the job and their outrageous pricing, I will not call again.

+ -1 moreOnce AAA Electric was able to fit us into his schedule he was prompt. It only took a couple of days to finish the work. They showed us all of the trouble areas before and after the work was completed. We were advised of work that needed to be done in the future and the reasons why.
Description of Work: We had all of our electrical wiring inspected. It was discovered that our wiring had a lot of exposed wire. Previous handymen had tapped into wiring improperly. AAA Electric found the danger areas and took care of everything for us on a timely basis. They were friendly, professional, and helpful. They took care of minor as well as major areas. Some of the minor work was done without charge.

+ -1 moreAfter a power failure in our area one of the electrical circuits in our home would not come back on. They came out on the same day we called and did a thorough testing of all circuits and found the problem to be an older malfunctioning breaker. They quickly fixed that and gave good recommendations and estimate for any future work which we might want to consider in the future. Even though we had city inspectors verify permitted work done on our home by another contractor, they found and pointed out a serious point of non-compliance. We had a late afternoon appointment. During the day, they ended up running a bit late, but they called several times to update us on their progress, and verify that they would indeed make our house call.
Description of Work: They inspected and tested all wiring circuits in our home and replaced a malfunctioning breaker.

+ -1 moreOverall it went extremely well. Willis came first to fix a fluorescent light. Work was done quickly and well. I then had him check on an ancient electrical box that had me very worried as a fire danger. He and his assistant worked a day and a half installing a new box and checking out that everything worked the way it was supposed to. The cut-out where the new box was installed was repaired nicely when they were finished. Finally, he installed a new electrical outlet that will permit plugging in a wall-mounted TV. In all, Willis was at our house on 4 different days (plus one where his assistant came back to finish up some cosmetic work around the new electrical box. He was reasonably on time and called to let me know those times he would be late. Some schedule changes were needed and he was very accommodating. Willis is friendly and outgoing. All in all, an excellent experience.
Description of Work: Had three things done: a fluorescent fixture fixed, a complete new household electrical box installed, a new electrical outlet installed as part of wall-mounting a TV.

When he got there, I explained that I had light switches in my kitchen and one in my hallway that had stopped working. He tested the wiring, found that they were live, and proceeded to replace the switches. Had it been shown that he would need to trace a faulty wire, he had a coworker ready to come over to crawl through the attic, if necessary. The work was done quickly and professionally. I will use AAA Electric for any additional electrical repairs, and recommend him to others.
