Description of Work: I had worked with them on 1 project -- very pleased with the results. Called and made plans to meet regarding another project. Confirmed the appointment twice. The gentlemen failed to show up. I then called the office to reschedule and told they no longer had any interest in working with me again as they had more then enough work on their hands. I then asked for a reference only to hung up on.

We didn't work with them.
Description of Work: They told me I needed a designer because I think they weren't ready to help us get anything done. They recommended someone who was trying to upsell me. She didn't really get what we wanted. It was a waste of time.

Description of Work: I contacted Mulhall Construction to have 3 jobs done, build a small fence and then demo and replace the ceiling drywall in 2 rooms. After signing the contract, it took awhile to get things going with the Project Manager not being able to schedule things with his crew. When the fence was built, I was charged for a rate for 2 contractors when the guy actually building the fence was not a licences contractor just a guy who knew how to build fences. I was told a carpenter would be doing the work, but that was not the case. He told me that he was not employed by Mulhall and just did side work for the Project Manager. He had never heard of Mulhall Construction. | |When the team for the drywall showed up, it was two guys who again had never heard of Mulhall Construction but were subcontractors for the Project Manager. One went so far as to tell me that not only was he not licensed, but that he was actually here in the country illegally and had only been here for less than a month. He clearly did not know how to drywall and was learning on the job. | |The overall experience from this makes me sure that I would not use them again. Mulhall Construction just seems like a name with a girl in the office sending out bills and answering phones. They have Project Managers who then hire their own subcontractors to do the actual work. It would be more cost effective to for me to just hire the guys doing the work directly and cut out two middlemen who are just taking their cut.

Response from Mulhall Construction
While we usually do not practice responding to reviews, everyone is entitled to their opinion; as well as we appreciate constructive criticism, it can only make us operate better. We would like to take a moment and respond on behalf of our intention with Mr. [member name removed]. We usually do not take on projects below 10,000.00 (as mentioned within our listing); we do from time to time, making an exception for Mr. [member name removed], wanting to help him with his home improvement project. We bent over backward in attempt to appease Mr. [member name removed] and it is our disappointment that thus, this is how we are being treated by Mr. [member name removed]. Yes, we sub-contracted some of the work out, but it was due to the fact we are structured for projects larger in size. At the end of the day, it made the best sense for this project and its scope of work to sub-contract. Any and all sub-contractors are licensed, insured and have workers compensation; it is our policy and necessary. The fact of the matter is that we sub-contracted the fence and sheetrock work. Our relationship is with the owner of each company and not the employees. Fact is, it is irrelevant with the employees working for our sub to know the general contractor intimately. The work was done to Mr. [member name removed]'s expectation(s) (as so stated by the client himself in his review) and there was/is no complaint about the finished product. At this juncture, it's transparent he became disgruntled when he realized we sub-contracted the work out. Clearly, Mr. [member name removed] has issues to go on in this vein and we wish him the very best in future endeavors.

Description of Work: Condo remodel project not yet completed but it's going faster and better than I anticipated. Communications are excellent and are professional and cordial. Project Manager, Ruben, is experienced, does outstanding work himself, and hires only well qualified subs. Office Manager, Monica, is responsive to any question in a very short period of time.

Description of Work: After my call to Muhall Construction, a date was made. A representative of the company, arrived at my house and we reviewed the project. The representative added ideas of improvement. We agreed to keep in touch and the company would send out a bid for the project. After receiving the bid and reviewing it and other bids, we decided we would not be able to commit to the project at the present time.

Extremely well.
Description of Work: Eamon, Diego, Edgar, and Sven did a beautiful job restoring our sun room. It had a large amount of water damage. They repaired the walls, reinstalled and reflashed the windows ( which caused the water damage ), painted inside and outside, put in a brand new wood floor, and new electrical fixtures. They were clean, prompt, and polite Everyone answered all my questions.

It went very well. Mr. Mulhall is a general contractor as well as a carpenter. I was impressed with his attention to detail and workmanship. We had a few tricky items such as custom made sliding glass doors that recede into a wall, another "secret" door that blends into a wall, and a large area (the closet doors) covered with a fabric. I was particularly concerned with the secret door because if not installed correctly it would no longer blend into the wall. However, they constructed it with additional support and hinges at the top and it works fine. All the finishing work looks great and the way we planned. Some of the work was done by subcontractors, and if Mr. Mulhall did not already have someone in mind for a job he interviewed them and then we discussed the options. All of the subcontractors he chose did excellent work and so we avoided having to redo anything. Prior to staring this process I had been told stories of other people's projects going over budget or taking way too long. Neither of those problems arose with our remodel and Mr. Mulhall kept the subcontractors moving and we were close to budget. I also appreciated the fact that he was able to work closely with our architect/designer so that the project came out as envisioned. Thus I thought that Mulhall did great work and was successful in effectively coordinating the work of subcontractors so that there were a minimum of delays.
Description of Work: We remodeled our place. This included installing sliding doors, between two rooms, installing additional supports and framing around the sliding doors, installing shear support in that same area, installing insullation along one side of the house in two rooms, removing a faux fireplace, installing a large room length closet in a room that was converted into a bedroom, opening up a wall in another area and creating a so called secret door that blends into the wall, rewiring the entire house including installing junction box, plugs etc throughout, instlallation of overhead lighting in the ceiling of three rooms, putting in various overhead fixtures, painting the entire house and refinishing all the floors, repairing the frames/woodworking below the windows in this Victorian era house, and repairing the fireplace mantle.

We found Adrian on Angie's List. He provided an estimate that was not the very cheapest but was low end of the range of estimates we received. Given the nature of the repair needed (dryrot in the stucco), the extent of the damage wasn't known until the stucco was removed -- a prime opportunity for an unscrupulous contractor. But Adrian (and his one helper) removed the rotten material, found that the damage was contained to a small area, and replaced with fresh wood in the course of a day -- quicker than estimated. He had only provided a cost estimate that assumed a small amount of damage, and he came in right around that amount. Also, we had hired him as general contractor (including new stucco and painting after), but because the job was so small he said he didn't feel right charging a markup on the work of the mason and the painter -- so he offered to provide us with their phone numbers so we could work with them directly and save a bit of money. Overall, the experience was quick and relatively painless -- we felt we were treated fairly by Adrian, he was responsible and responsive, and in general he was a very pleasant fellow to work with.
Description of Work: We had dryrot in our stucco and underlying wood. Adrian removed the bad stucco and replaced the rotten section of wood (framing around a window soffit).

It was an excellent interaction. They were very very professional and the price was great. He did everything he said he would and the end product was outstanding.
Description of Work: They put on a new facade to our building in San Fransisco which involved a lot of carpentry detail. They took down the old one, put up the new one, and made it look authentic.

Thanks to Angie's List I was able to find Adrian Mullhall of Mullhall Construction. Repair work was needed for a kitchen floor foundation problem in the home of my elderly relative in another city. Adrian agreed to go to the house and for an initial diagnosis of the problem and then provided an estimate of the work to be performed. He kept me informed of his findings by phone and emailed written information and invoices along with pictures of the problem area he had revealed. I hired Mullhall Construction to repair the flooring foundation problem. I feel confident that the work was done in a complete and professional manner. Adrian was very kind and caring and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to hire Mullhall Construction in the future.
Description of Work: The services performed included the removal of the heavy tile flooring in the kitchen, removal of aging and damaged floor joists and installing additional wood framing needed to properly support a new floor. The flooring is now safe and secure and Mullhall Construction re-covered the area with new plywood in preparation for adding a new floor covering.
