Great. Ike himself came first for an estimate. His crew came exactly at the scheduled time. They did a great job. I'd use them again.
Description of Work: Installation of an exterior motion sensor light. This project required installation of wiring and a new junction box as well.

I manage a large condo complex, and tracking down the broken part of the circuit seemed like a difficult task. Ike is very knowledgeable, however, and was able, with my help, to track down the location of the break on his first service call. He submitted a bid for the repair, which included two alternatives depending on whether the first, easier fix worked or not. I accepted and signed the bid, and his crew came out a few days later to do the repair. Fortunately they were able to do the easier fix. They were very personable, courteous, neat, and did the job very well and quickly. They even changed out a broken light switch that was not part of the bid, for free. Both Ike and his crew are very professional and knowledgeable, and I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Part of an exterior light circuit quit working, so Ike came out and spent an hour with me tracking down the problem. I paid him for that service call, and he then sent me a bid for the repair, which included two alternatives, depending on whether the first easier fix worked or not. A few days later his crew came out and was able to pull out broken wires from a long run of conduit and run new wires, including an additional wire for future expansion if desired (this was the easier repair). They also reinstalled a conduit leading to a light fixture that had been installed very poorly and was just sort of hanging off the wall. Lastly, they replaced a broken light switch for free.

Ike happened to be available within a day of responding to my inquiry. We first spoke about my concerns over the phone. During the call, he treated me with great respect and patience as I misused terms and had trouble describing the problem. He anticipated that I would need new fixtures and made some recommendations, so I was prepared when he came to do the work. He arrived for our appointment exactly on time; assessed my problems, tested my voltage and wiring to the problem fixtures, and then replaced two outdoor light fixtures. As a bonus to me, he also fixed a loose stair railing that was pulling away from its anchors. I recommend Ike's Electric without hesitation or reservation.
Description of Work: Replaced two outdoor light fixtures after testing and assessing the strength of the voltage and safety of my wiring, which had been my primary concern.

The work was well done. The price was reasonable. We would consider using them again. All the work was done well and done on time. The price was pretty much a mid-point price so it was reasonable. The exterior work was in the range of $3500.00. There were a number of interior projects which were in the range of $300.00 to $600.00. Overall, it was good. They were very reasonable. The quality was good.
Description of Work: Ike's Electric did some pretty extensive exterior lighting work for us about six to eight months ago. They did exterior lighting in the yard, ran a lot of conduits, and installed some fixtures. They also did a little bit of interior work, but not very much. They just installed a few fixtures and a couple of electrical outlets.

The whole experience went very well. He was very pleasant but also very professional. With the unlocking that had never worked he said he could check it out and see if it could work. When he got it to work he said he doubted it would work for long but it might be very useful for me. I am disabled and it would be very useful. There was no pressure or hard sell.
Description of Work: This was a door bell for 2 different doors plus two different unlocking systems. One of these unlocking systems had never worked. Ike was able to get it to work but said it really needed a replacement part and he thought it would only work for a short time. He said he could order the part and replace what was there. He showed us the problem. We asked him to order the part and replace the old one. He said he would do that. I appreciated that he had brought the part to fix what he thought might be wrong on the primary door bell. A previous electtrician who fixed the bell twice never brought anything with him so that for both repair calls he had to return to his shop to get a part and the fixing then took most of a day while Ike took less than two hours.

Isaias is a trustworthy, experienced, professional electrician who provided us with great service and candid advice. He is continuing to build the family business with an eye on the future. He answered all my questions in lay terms, and in a few years when we want to install new light fixtures in the bathrooms and a heat vent in the master bath, we will use Ike's Electric.
Description of Work: Isaias the electrician from Ike's Electric purchased and installed eight new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and he also installed our chandelier from Lowe's in our 1999 5-bedroom house on 8/18/11. He met with me a week earlier on 8/10/11 and addressed all of our concerns - the inspectors' issue about the electrical grounding in the development, the poor function of the existing smoke alarms, what sort of dining room light fixture we should purchase. He also gave us a very rough bids on installing a heat vent in the master bath. He was kind enough to work around our toddlers' nap schedule!

I feel a little lukewarm about our experience with Ike. At the end of the day he did a good job, but it wasn't entirely pleasant. My wife and I told him up front that we wanted to do a lot of the wiring ourselves and would only hire and electrician to do the stuff we couldn't do (e.g. change out the panel) and despite making that clear, Ike seemed frustrated/angry that we would try to do the work ourselves. He also resisted our request for a 200 amp panel (saying 100 amp was enough) and, though he may have been right, our minds were made up and I thought he pushed back too hard. Finally we got in over our heads on a few spots and he rescued us but I certainly wouldnt say it was expensive (I suspect we got punished a bit on the price). Bottom line is the experience was only so-so; that said, the work he did was good (passed PGE inspection, all circuits work) etc. I can't say I wouldn't recommend him based on the end result, but the experience could have been more pleasant.
Description of Work: Changed out service panel from 100 amp to 200 amps, fixed some wiring we could't do ourselves

Response from IKE'S ELECTRIC
In response to our review from the members, we would like to clarify our position. In regards to the main service, It is always in our interest to make sure our customers are satisfied with the service they receive. That being said, we also attempt to avoid unnecessary work that can cost our customers more than necessary. We like to ensure that our customers are well informed about the options available, so they can make better decisions based on their specific needs. While we never discourage our customers from performing their own work, we also must maintain our integrity as the supervising contractor. It is often challenging to balance the desires of our customers while ensuring the safety and integrity of the installation. As the members stated, there was a situation where the work became too difficult to complete for them. For the price, we performed a complete upgrade to the main service, repaired wiring which was cut during demolition, as well as installed a rough-in of all new kitchen and bathroom circuitry and consulted with the owners in person many times on their questions and concerns with their end of the installation. We appreciate the comments from the members, and we hope that they may better understand our position from our few comments.

Ike showed up on time and was a nice guy. I appreciated that when I showed him a couple of things he explained how I could do the fix, and saved me some money. While he did replace the bathroom fans, I couldn't get him to express to me if I should ditch what I had or do what he was suggesting was easiest - just replace the fan motors. I didn't want to replace something that could be improved. In the end I just wanted it done and what he did seems to have been done very well. I think you have to decide what you want and not expect that kind of advice. The recessed lights were removed but not tossed out; I would have appreciated not having to do the clean up. The outdoor outlet was replaced, but the cover that clearly doesn't fit was not replaced, which seems like it would have been obvious as a component of completing the job. In the end I think he's good for basic work, but plan on being a supervisor.

Response from IKE'S ELECTRIC
In response to the member's comments, we always inform our customers of the options available when performing work. In this case, the cost of removing and replacing an entire bathroom fan unit would far exceed the cost of replacing the fan motor and cover, so the logical choice was to do the latter. As for the recessed lights, we never dispose of light fixtures in working condition without the consent of the owners. Had the member stated that she would no longer be needing the fixtures, we would have been happy to remove them from the premises. In the case of the outdoor outlet, the existing cover was still in working condition. If defects in the performance were found we would have addressed it accordingly, but in the interest of reducing waste and unnecessary cost to the customer, we did not replace the cover. If the member was unhappy with the condition of the cover we would have been happy to replace it for her. It is always important to maintain clear communication throughout the duration of the job, and we encourage all of our customers to address any concerns they may have before we complete the job. Our reputation relies on ensuring our customers satisfaction, and we are always happy to do the job well the first time. We appreciate the member's business and look forward to working with her again.

Our 2 jobs were very small. Most people won't take these jobs so it was nice to find Ike. Ike came to give us an estimate and proceeded to stay and fix the light. It was hard to remove the cover of the light and after trying for a while he came up with an ingenious idea to remove it. He reseated the light and installed it correctly. While working he used a plastic bag to prevent making a mess even though I told him not to worry I would clean it up. Thanks, Ike! He then looked at the fan. He suggested what we should do to fix it ourselves even though he could have charged us for doing it himself. He was very professional, nice and knowledgeable. I would recommend him and I would use him again.

They are excellent do good work, and if something is wrong they followup. They do good work. We had one outlet that kept tripping and they were unable to put an outlet and they put new outlets. They will be coming back to do something on that. They were supposed to charge me $95 for service call for that, and I told them that I can?t afford to pay that, and they came down to $50. I recommend them highly. They were a little expensive but the work they did was good. We wanted to get the job done by somebody dependable to do the work so that the house is safe. I will use them again in the future and will not trust anybody else with the electrical work in my house.

Ike arrived on time. While installing the new light fixture, he discovered a problem with the existing wiring, which had been done only 18 months ago. He installed the new fixture, and explained how to deal with the wiring problem. He charged $95, which is his minimum charge, and which he had told me about when I called. No extra charge for coming out on a Saturday.

We called Ike for an estimate after seeing the great reviews on Angie?s List. He came out, gave a very fair estimate, and waited around a couple weeks for us to finally schedule him to install a new overheard light + clean up some faulty wiring. He came out with his son, and in less than 3 hours they?d completed the job perfectly. Everything was clean and orderly when they left, and we now have a fantastic new light ? plus a degree of safety confidence we didn?t have before. Totally would/will work with them again.

Ike showed up on time (to review the small projects I had in mind) and emailed an estimate the next day. We agreed on the price and scheduled a time for him to show up. Again, Ike showed up on time and did the work. Even though it took longer than he thought, he still charged the original estimated price. I am very happy with Ike's Electric and will use him again.
Description of Work: I needed to have several old and broken electrical fixtures replaced. Ike replaced 3 under-cabinet kitchen lights and 2 outdoor security lights. Ike came to the store, reconnected the wire (there was a bad connection), said that the transformer needed to be changed (already knew that), but stated that he needed to open the top of the cabinet to do it when we already had a electrician access the tranformer through the trim on another occasion. He left and said that we could call him if we wanted to change the transformer. Well, this is the reason why I originally called him. I am not sure I appreciated the charge.

Ike came by the next day after I called and fixed the oven trip-switch (replaced the unit), fixed the light fixture and diagnosed the problem with the halogen lights (told me I needed to buy new ones). The whole thing took about 90 minutes and he charged me $175 which I thought was very reasonable.
