Our aging garage door had been acting up for some time, and this past week it had stopped working after some wires got tangled into the wheel mechanism. The motor had also burned out. On Tuesday I called Garage Masters; they were able to send out Ron to give us the estimate by Wednesday. Ron arrived promptly and explained some of the different options. He was extremely polite and clearly very knowledgeable, answering all of my questions succinctly and to my satisfaction. I got another estimate as well, and Garage Masters was very competitive with that. We decided that Wednesday to go with Garage Masters; I called them back and they ordered our door and were able to do the installation just three days after my initial phone consultation. John arrived exactly on time on Friday morning of the scheduled installation, and proceeded to do the job by himself. He took about five hours. At the end of it, he demonstrated some of the features of the garage door. We also programmed the keypad together. Like Ron, John was very polite and informative. The work was clearly very good. The door moved up and down very smoothly and quietly, making a world of difference from our previous setup. Bottom line: I called Garage Masters on a Tuesday morning. Ron (their estimator) came out on Wednesday morning. We made our decision on Wednesday and gave the go-ahead for them to order the door from the warehouse, and John performed the installation flawlessly on a Friday.
Description of Work: Complete replacement and installation of garage door, including new motor, and installation of rails, keypad, and door.

Ronald was a couple of minutes late but it was no big deal and made up for it in his quick, professional and efficient service. It only took him 1/2 of an hour to replace the springs. I had a couple of questions about replacing rollers as well as replacing the springs. Ron suggested to wait until I replaced the screw motor with a belt motor as the noise of the screw motor would negate replacing the rollers. He also didn't push replacing the motor. I will definitely call them next year when I plan on replacing the screw motor with a belt motor. I HIGHLY recommend them.

I called to arrange the work and was pleased to find Garage Master would schedule a Saturday appointment. We agreed on 9:00 am, and Ed the technician was at my door at 8:59. He was very polite, looked at the old opener, and quickly set to work. The whole job took just over an hour. Ed removed the 15+ year old unit and installed the new belt drive unit I'd purchased, set up the security code for me, and walked me through how the system operated. At the end of the job, he cleaned up behind himself, leaving absolutely no mess behind. We noted how much quieter the new unit was, and Ed suggested that the next time I have the door serviced I could replace the steel wheels with nylon to make it even quieter. I continue to be impressed with Garage Master - this is the 3rd time I've used them to service my older garage door, and the professional approach and high quality service really sets them apart. I highly recommend this vendor

The person who gave me the quote also did the work. He knew exactly what I was looking for and his bid and work matched what I wanted done. Their work was VERY professional. They paid close attention to detail and the end product looks fantastic and functions beautifully. It is quiet and a really nice renovation to our home. They arrived at 9:30 on Saturday, June 11, 2011 and completed the work at approximately 3:00pm that same day. They removed the old door, track and automatic garage door opener. They installed the new trim for the door, enabling the new tracking to be secured to the wall of the garage, and ensuring we would have a tight seal between the garage door and the house. They then put in the new door, spring and automatic garage door opener. When they were finished they spent as much time as WE wanted going over every bit of their work to make sure we were satisfied. They then explained the new automatic garage door functionalities and made sure we knew how to use the system. Excellent service. Excellent craftsmanship. The work was to a very specific bid and exceeded our expectations.

My original appointment was for 5:00pm, and I received a call from the office to check if the technician could come earlier. the technician was professional. It took him about 15 minutes to diagnose the issue and another 15 minutes to fix it. Excellent job! I will definitely use them again.

They arrived on time. The dispatcher even called to tell me that they might be a few minutes late. Ed was totally professional and definitely knows what he's doing.
Description of Work: Our door was making a terrible grinding noise as it opened up. Ed from Garage Masters diagnosed and fixed the problem (faulty shut off switch) within 20 minutes. Then, the bracket joining the swing arm to the door broke. Ed came back again and replaced the bracket and mounting screws with new & stronger parts. Again the whole thing took less than 30 minutes and the garage now performs like it was new. We have just moved in to our house and Garage Masters have been life savers.

It went well, better than expected, and the cost was affordable for us. The technician left the garage area clean and knee what he was doing.
Description of Work: I called around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, and a technician arrived around 9:30 a.m., analyzed the problem, gave us an estimate, and once we okayed the cost, he got to work fixing the garage door and was done in about 45 minutes. The problem was that the metal cables on each side of the overhead garage door had broken, causing the garage door to slam shut, and since it was New Year's weekend, we waited until Monday to call. The person on the phone took all the necessary information and told us a technician would be out between 10 and 11 that day. Ed arrived earlier, which was even better. He told us that parts of the garage door were very old and beyond their "life cycle" which was true. In addition to installing new metal cables, he also installed a new spring that runs across the garage door. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to life the garage door since it's extremely heavy, but he said the average door is about 140 pounds, which he is able to lift, which he did. He made the repairs, and in about 45 minutes was done. I couldn't have been happier to have the door fixed since the car was inside the garage, which we couldn't open. Ed was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about what he was doing. I would not hesitate to call them again, or to let my neighbors know how pleased we were.

Garage door stopped working around 9AM. Searched on Angie's List, found this company. Rang them up, they made an appointment for noon. He showed up early, looked at the door, described what it needed, quoted flat fee to fix. Said it would take 1/2 hour, he was done in about 15 minutes. Let me know that springs have about a 7-year life, the system was 8 years old, and the next to go would likely be the opener which is good for 8-10 years. Was very courteous, professional, and clearly timely. Have already recommended them to two neighbors who have garage door issues.
Description of Work: Replaced broken garage door spring. Estimate was 30 minutes, took him around 10-15 minutes. Also did complete inspection of garage door system.

These guys are great! As fate would have it, I'd just called to set up an assessment of the aging garage door opener in our home when hours later it died. The Garage Master team team showed up 10 minutes early, had it fixed within an hour - 2 new pulleys and cables for $225 installed. Very professional from the initial phone call to the on site service - this is definitely a firm I will use again.

The first person to come out for the estimate made measurements and provided an introductory quote. I did not find him particularly helpful in describing the options and features. When I called for more information, they invited us down to their shop to see the products and services they offered. We evaluated everything and felt comfortable with our decision - which turned out to be much the same as the first estimate. It is much better to go down to their shop to see the product and finishings in person, plus everyone in the shop was informative and friendly. The installation went very well - they removed our old door and installed the new door in just a few hours. The installation team was clean and neat and did not leave a mess. They described the features and usage of the door in detail, and answered all questions thoroughly. They forgot to take a large piece of glass away at the end, but they were quick to stop by once we called them to let them know about it. Excellent service!

Garage door broke on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday around 3pm I called Garage Master, they were not able to come on the same day, but we scheduled an appointment for the next day at 4pm. The two technicians showed up 10 minutes early. It was apparently one of the two "torsion springs" broke that need to be replaced, but they insisted that they have to replace both (I "google'd" around on the Internet and found that this is normally recommended - to replace both springs at the same time, even only one breaks). They replaced the two springs within 45 minutes and helped tighten up the nuts and bolts without extra charge. They were courteous, friendly and professional. Only thing that I didn't like is that originally they quoted me for $195 to replace the spring, but then when they got here they said that if it's ONE spring then it's $195, but for TWO springs they will have to charge $295. Again I google'd around, giving the high cost of living in San Francisco I think their price is "on par", but really doesn't seem to be "cheaper" than others. Just thought that I would point that out. I would be happier if they charge like $80 extra for two springs instead of $100 more, as the labor to replace one and two is about the same, and the material cost (the spring itself) cost around $50 online (http://store.overheaddoorparts.com/ts001a.html). For DIYers, you might want to read http://www.truetex.com/garage.htm I'm a DIYer myself and after I watched them to perform the whole job from start to complete, I concluded that this is really not a suitable DIY project unless you have all the necessary tools (tools alone would probably cost you a fortune). By the way they do take credit cards, that's a big plus.

I called Garage Master on Friday night just after 6 pm to request a garage door repair (broken spring). They found a time the next morning at 10 am for the repair. I was replacing a garage door opener and wanted my spring, rails, drums and cables inspected professionally to learn whether any maintenance or service was in order. Garage Master gave me a telephone quote and showed up within an hour. The serviceman was informed and thorough, adjusted one of the drums which had slipped slightly out of position, and lubed the system. He was done in 30 minutes or less, and the charge was consistent with the quote.

I found Garage Master on Angie's List. The reviews were good. I called, described the problem to the female customer-service rep, and they sent a truck out to my place within the hour. To my amazement, they had several different salvaged garage-door hinges with them. They removed the broken hinge, put the best-suited one in (even the black paint on it matched), and were done in about a half hour. Awesome.

Within 1 hour of talking with them, they came by, took all the measurements, told us our options (only a wood door was possible, given our particular garage configuration) and wrote up the estimate. Installation happened about 12 days later, and went without a hitch. They left the job site clean. They are a very professional company.

The company was able to send out a representative within an hour or so of when I called to tell them I was shopping for a new garage door (after having the driveway leveled under the old one, so that it no longer fit). They gave me the best price (even after I gave a smaller business a chance to try to match it), so I called them back a few days later to put the order through. They said the new door would be ready in about a week and a half, and called me nine days later to make the installation appointment for the next morning. Two technicians showed up promptly on a blisteringly hot morning. I handed them the garage remote, and they set to work--sharing part of the garage time with a pair of electricians who were installing some outlets. Three hours later, while I read a book, the door was in, fit perfectly, worked perfectly; the shelves were removed from their original location and screwed in further back in the garage; the old door was packed away for their removal; and the site was left scrupulously clean.
Description of Work: Removed old single garage door, replaced with new, sectional wood door, using existing Genie opener (which they had to remount). Moved some shelving units that would have been in the way of the new door. Provided spare remote unit.
