We've had a problem with roaches in our kitchen for over a year. Baits and other Home Depot remedies worked for a while, but the infestation worsened until finally the roaches shorted the electrical system in our dishwasher. Thanks to Angie's List, we were able to find Janus Pest Management Inc. The owner, Jay Spicer, spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me, explaining the procedure and assuaging my concerns (I have kids and dogs and I wanted to make sure the chemicals would be safe). He also gave us a discount because we had an Angie's List coupon. When we were forced to move the appointment because of a last-minute schedule change, he was able to send a technician to do the work on a weekend. The technician arrived promptly, was very friendly and very professional. He sprayed a chemical on the kitchen surfaces and put some bait on crevices where the roaches might be hiding. He warned that we would continue to see one or two roaches for a few days, but that they would eventually go away. He was correct. Except for a few stragglers, just about all the roaches have disappeared. I am so relieved. The technician warned that the infestation may come back months later, but he offered us several tips on how to keep the situation from worsening. If we do need an exterminator again, we'll definitely go with Janus.

Kirk, our technician, spent a long time going over the house from top to bottom - the very bottom! He spent a couple of hours in our very narrow crawlspace, squeezing into tight spaces to reach everywhere he needed to to plug up every possible access point and lay traps. He was thorough and good-natured about spending a beautiful Saturday under our house.

Jay, our tech, has been courteous, tidy and thorough. He is sensitive to the fact that pest control is not cheap or fun, so he offered an array of options when it came to service and maintenance, including DIY options if we wanted to do the rodent-proofing ourselves. We're very pleased and the problems have ceased.

Communication was great, and he was able to do the work while I was not home, leaving me an invoice for the total.

They responded promptly. Did what was required. But some how decided that they needed to do a monthly service visit and monthly charge without any prior discussion of such a plan. I only found out about this when the bills started arriving after I thought the service was complete. I was unable to get any questions answered from the office, just more billing statements. I think the service has deteriorated since 2008. I am not sure I will use them again.

The company called back the same day we called them to make an appointment the next day. Mr. Spicer arrived a bit early, volunteered to inspect the entire house exterior for wasps nests. He then quickly exterminated the live wasps with mint oil, a "green" agent, and removed all the nests. He told me that he reduced the price from $75 to $45 because it was an easy job. I was expecting to pay up wards of $100 based on a prior estimate with another company.

I had had gophers for about a week or so and they had created 2 holes. I called Janus at about noon on Monday and Jay Spicer was out to treat the gophers by 3:30 p.m. He was personable, professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. He treated the two holes and then checked to see if there were any that were missed. He did not find any other holes. He indicated that I should check for additional activity for the next month. They guarantee for 30 days.

He was very conscientious and returned several times over the next few weeks. He always called first and then came to see that everything was OK, walking up and down the steep slope, checking to be sure that the gophers were eliminated.

They are always on time, always courteous and do a good job explaining what they are doing. I would rate them very high.
