Description of Work: We paid for this service and the vendor never contacted us as we were told they would. This is not uncommon in my experience with Angie's List and I am frankly considering discontinuing my subscription.

Description of Work: The electrician had to put in a new elec. box because the old one was corroded. | |Had he come between 9 and 11, as his office said he would, the day would not have been stressful. But, he finally arrived after 12:30; we had a dinner to attend by 5. He did call at least twice to say he would be late. When he finally finished the job, It was just about 3.

Description of Work: Instead of labeling my junction box, Heron did an excellent job installing an electronic timer in a 2-gang box, correcting substandard work done by a previous electrician, and bypassing a variable rheostat on a floor lamp plug. He was very patient and explained the rationale behind all work done. I'll have him return to do another wiring job this week using a different Angie's List Deal.

Description of Work: I wanted the provider to re-wire an existing ceiling fan. I had $99 for $299 worth of service. They wanted to charge $488 to re-wire one ceiling fan, and we had very easy attic access. The price is outrageous. The individual was very professional though and the service seems to be of high quality. |Still much too expensive though.

Description of Work: The worker installed an outdoor electric outlet. He did a good job, except for leaving my existing interior outlet a little askew. He also replaced some ceiling lights in the kitchen for a good price at my request. Before he started the job, he tried to increase the $99 advertised price, saying that he would be working on stucco. I absolutely refused and he backed down on that. My complaint is that took forever to do the job because he was on the phone with his boss constantly. He went through my entire home looking for possible future jobs and left me with an ridiculous estimate in the thousands for unnecessary work. His company lost credibility with me by using these tactics.

Description of Work: Work performed was great. However it was hard getting an appointment. Filled out Schedule request multiple times via Angie's List and E-mail. Called multiple times and when I finally got ahold of someone they had no record of any of my schedule requests. | |I paid for the house inspection + 1 hour Labor. However I was mostly interested in the one hour labor as I needed a new outlet installed. I was very upfront with them both on the phone and when the tech arrived. He immediately said he needed to quote it and went back to his car for ~30 minutes. Came back and said it would be $90 since it was above the hour of labor I had paid for. Well he got the job done (and did it well btw), but guess how long it took him, including multiple trips to the car? 1 hour! And he still charged me an additional $90! Comfort Electrics rates are $400/hr, not even high priced lawyers cost that much... | |

Never having done this before, I was surprised at long it took and how much more I had to pay in addition to the original $99.It would have been helpful if the vendor had given me an estimate. |The person who did the work was professional and explained what needed to be done and why.

Description of Work: Services provided: Run a new power outlet in living room, re-set (pull out) light switch box in family room, install ceiling fan speed/dimmer switch control in family room, install ceiling fan speed/light switch in master bedroom. | |This review is a bit delayed as we were tied up with new home, wedding plans and honeymoon since the service was provided. However, upon completion both the living room and family room wall modifications had to be be touched up and in the case of the family room electrical box relocating, re-done completely as the finished job was anything but. In the living room, there was a saw hole left in the wall presumably from incorrectly measuring where the new outlet hole needed to be. Initially I was fine with this, small patch job but the family room was a mess. After telling me that "all I do is clean work" the technician had nothing but excuses blaming the previous contractor for their drywall/mud job rather than acknowledging that he didn't use proper tools to cut out the hold where the electrical box was going. He used a hammer and punch, which left chunks missing from the portion of the wall he worked on when a simple drywall saw could have been used to cleanly cut out the hole. In the end, the finished (if you can call it that) product was hideous and nowhere near clean as promised. His excuse was "this would have happened to anyone". My brother and I fixed it all ourselves in a matter of less than 1 hour weeks later and now it looks great. Nice guy, bad work ethic. | |I have pics and plan to post before (his) and after (our fix) examples to show what the end job looked like.

Description of Work: Offer was for $99 for $299 of electrical service. Had to pay an additional $150 for 30 minutes to install an outdoor outlet. Angie's list had a deal a week later to have an outlet installed for $99. Would not do it again without getting an estimate first. These deals are not a bargain.
