Swede Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Cleaning

It went very well. We feel confident that our chimney is in good shape and have the info we need to make a decision about what type of burning we will do going forward. If we decide to install fire logs in the future we will rehire Terry and Rick to do so.

It was a very positive experience; they did a great job. They were very clean, reasonable in price, and took their time. The installer was very nice and the fireplaces turned out beautifully.

Ms. Pocock provided much help and information on the initial phone contact. She scheduled an appointment for Mr. Pocock in the following week. He arrived promptly as scheduled, and made a thorough inspection of the firebox while describing the service limitations of this kind of fireplace. At the end of the inspection he pronounced the fireplace to be fit for service and then proceeded to do a thorough cleaning of both it and the stack above it. He was especially careful to protect the surrounding room area against dislodged dirt and dust, even though I advised him that the room was going to undergo complete renovation shortly. Finally he went to the roof and inspected the top end of the stack, again pronouncing everything in good order. He also provided much useful information about recommended accessories for this kind of fireplace, and about the best kinds of wood to burn. He indicated that we would receive a post card reminder from Swede Sweep for another inspection/cleaning in about two years but probably wouldn't require service at that time. This was my first experience with a professional, certified chimney sweep and it went very well, even though he did not arrive in the customary top hat!

We purchased a 35 year old home that needed a lot of work. They are very knowledgeable and professional. When cleaning the chimney which was filthy, they protected all interior areas. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again.

Great service. Scheduled the service in advance to take advantage of a special, and they sent a reminder to make sure we remembered. Arrived on time the day of the service. Provided honest appraisal of our fireplace and chimney, and did excellent job repairing cracks in the fireplace. Even said that our chimney was clean and did not need a cleaning at this time. These people knew what they were talking about. Would definitely recommend them.

After talking to Terri, she thought it best to use a different company to replace a rusted out termination cap on our pre-fab system. Terri was very knowledgeable and is one of the few certified female chimney sweeps in California. She is extremely pleasant and helpful - I wish we could have used this company. Price to clean one chimney (an inspect a second that was rarely used) would have been $169. The price is higher this time of year due to demand. Summer rates are $129.

Prior to having a new fireplace mantel and hearth installed in my condo, I decided to have my prefab fireplace/chimney cleaned to avoid have the new installation get dirty. I called and spoke with Terri on Monday and was able to schedule a Wednesday morning appt. Terri was flexible with my schedule as I may have had to move the appt to Thursday after work and she held an appt to accommodate me if necessary. Terri called me as I requested once Rick was on his way on Wednesday morning. He was on time and very professional. He inspected the chimney from inside and then took a look at the chimney cap on the roof of my building. One thing to note is that he cannot do a prefabricated chimney that is three stories tall for insurance reason, which he explained and is understandable. (A 3 story or more masonry chimney is okay). I did have soot in my chimney and Rick performed the cleaning. It took about an hour and ten minutes from the time he arrived to the time he left. Everything was covered and left clean. No dust in the room either during cleaning. I would definitely use this company again and recommend to my neighbors. Their price for off-season cleaning was less than the winter months. Both Rick and Terri are very knowledgeable and professional.

Service was very good and professional. The technician cleaned the dryer vent (which was very clogged) and fixed a loose vent hose. The only drawbacks were the cost (rather pricey for the scope of the job) and the long lead time needed to schedule (almost a month ahead of time) due to their heavy workload. Aside from that, the work was performed to our satisfaction with no regrets. I would recommend them to as long as you don't need them "yesterday".

The appointment was scheduled for May so it would be "out of season," with a resulting price discount. Rick arrived a few minutes before the appointed time and performed a thorough cleaning of my chimney. The area surrounding the fireplace was left perfectly clean at the end of the service call.

Very pleasant receptionist coordinated visit. Very pleasant and punctual. Gave a thorough verbal report on condition of fireplace and chimney. Confirmed that the chimney had been lined and that some restoration work had been done on the brickwork at the top of the chimney. Did a terrific job and tidied up nicely on completion.

We had a gas leak in the gas fireplace insert. They were very knowledgeable about the problem. They sealed the fireplace with plastic before the sweeping, so the job was kept very clean. The process was explained to us in detail and they provided us with helpful information.

The owner of the company came to my home as scheduled, examined the chimney from the fireplace and from the roof, gave me a verbal evaluation (no cleaning necessary), pointed out a small crack in the fireplace floor, and noted that the gas extension was the type used for a ceramic log fixture, which I do not have. We discussed types of firewood / Duraflame to use, impact on environment and on chimney, and he helped me decide how to proceed. He was very polite, thorough, and helpful. The person on the phone (his wife) was also very helpful when I initially called, and gave me a reminder call the day before the visit. They both made sure I understood the issues with Duraflame logs for safety reasons. I will be sent a reminder card in two years, which is when he estimated the chimney would need actual cleaning. Very satisfied, will definitely stay with this company!

It went extremely well. Rick was punctual and very pleasant. He answered my questions. He didn't push chimney cleaning on me since it wasn't warranted. I will have him back again when necessary.
