Swede Chimney Sweep & Dryer Vent Cleaning

The cleaning was excellent. I decided to purchase a chimney cap from them which doubled the cost of the cleaning, but it's a beautiful cap and the chimney was cleaned thoroughly. The owner did the work and was very good. I was sort of surprised that although it seems to be a relatively in shape chimney, he couldn't do the few repairs I needed. At first I thought it was because of time because I got in because of a cancellation. That was the only disappointing thing. If I had known that they only do really simple repairs I may have chosen a different company so I wouldn't have had to find someone else for repairs, which I still haven't had time to do. But the cleaning was very thorough.

IT WAS GREAT! THEY WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH FROM THE START! THEY WERE POLITE AND HONEST FROM THE BEGINNING. WHEN I CALLED THEY WERE SURE TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS PRIME SEASON FOR CHIMNEY SWEEPS. IN THE FUTURE, I CAN GET A DISCOUNTED RATE IN THE OFF SEASON. THEY CAME OUT AT EXACTLY THE TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY CHECKED THE CHIMNEY FOR A FLAT RATE AND PUT IN AN GAS IGNITER AND A RUST-FREE CHIMNEY CAP.

This company is a husband-wife team. They are both qualified to do the work. I spoke with Terry and set up an appointment. She was friendly and informative. Rick came out at the agreed upon time and I showed him the cracks. He said they were minor and nothing to worry about. He caulked them and then inspected both fireplaces. He said they did not appear to need cleaning at this time. When I asked what I owed him he said "nothing". He was very friendly and answered all of my questions. They will be the ones I call if I have a problem in the future.

Rick arrived on time and was very courteous. He told me what work he was going to do, warned me about the noise, and then proceeded to do the work. He was very careful to prevent a mess. The entire job took 1.5 hours.

Went very well. Very professional. Showed up on time. Was not dirty. Just good simple service and very informative.

We do not light many fires in our fireplace, but we have never had the chimney swept in the 9 years we have lived in our current house. After a recent remodel, the room sometimes smells a little smokey when we use the fireplace. Rick was on time for the appointment and began with an inspection. He could tell that we had recently been burning Duralight logs;he is very thorough! He showed me how the chimney flue takes a bend, and the upper outflow is small. This can impair smoke flow. He made some suggestions like pre-heating the fireplace with newspaper before lighting a wood fire, and burning pine or eucalyptus to increase the heat so that smoke goes upwards faster. He also suggested a gas fireplace energy insert, which looks like real wood and generates heat, but no smoke. Of course this would mean no further work for him on the chimney, but it was very professional that he offered many choices to solve our smoke problem. Highly recommended, very honest and extremely professional.

My initial contact with this company was with Terri. She was extremely knowledgeable and spent quite a bit of time on the phone answering questions and explaining fireplace conversions. Rick arrived on time and was professional and courteous. He took the time to explain things and was able to complete the job within an hour. I called other places that never returned calls and other places that were a little cheaper, but I felt comfortable with the friendly service of both Terri and Rick.

A+++! We definitely will be calling Swede Sweep again when we're ready to have the chimney swept thoroughly. Rick could have continued with the entire sweep for $139 (an off-season price), but instead, he was honest and told us that it probably wouldn't be worth our while to do it right then, because of the flue lining cracks, and he only charged us $59. We were grateful for his sharp eye, honesty and educating us about the potential dangers of a cracked flue lining. Both Rick and Terri were pleasant to deal with and very prompt both via email and in-person for the appointment.

I arranged to have Swede Chimney Sweep inspect our gas fireplace unit and chimney before we added a new fireplace surround. Rick was prompt and professional. He said that the chimney did not need cleaning, which saved me $110 (inspection only is $59; inspection plus cleaning is $169). He recommended for safety reasons that he inspect the top of the chimney (included in price), but warned that his doing so could crack some roof tiles, and I appreciated the warning. He and his wife also gave me other safety tips.

I was impressed with the company. Terri was friendly and informative when I called to ask questions about getting my dryer vent cleaned. Rick was polite, punctual and helpful, willing to answer any of my questions before starting work. After I gave him a quick explanation of the situation, he got right to work. He was very thorough, and even managed to keep the lint to a minimum (dryer lint can really get everywhere!). Before we had Rick service our dryer vent, clothes took hours to dry and really heated up the entire condo; now it s like having a brand new dryer, and I can run the dryer mid-day and not even notice! A friend of mine was surprised at the price, but I know it was worth every penny. Since Rick is a chimney sweep, he used brushes to clean the vent from the dryer all the way to the roof, not just a vacuum or pressurized air, and I wasn't at all worried about having him on my roof. He is licensed, bonded, insured and certified to clean dryer vents. And he is great!

VERY SWEET AND NICE TIL I CANCELLED, then very rude. Cost and professionalism was very nice at first, when booking. I wrote down everything this person told me. Unfortunately, I had to cancel at the homeowners request the day before the sweeping. I have nothing written in my notes about a cancellation policy. I left my cancellation on their answering machine. I got a call back, and the woman left me a voice mail that said something like this,"THIS is why we have a 72 hour cancellation policy. If they want to wait til October, they can, but I don't understand that because it will cost $30 more, and we book up 3 weeks in advance. So, if you want your chimney swept, call another chimney sweep." Click.

He did very good, thorough work and took the dryer apart.

I was trying to get some work done on my chimney, but was having difficulty locating a contractor. The receptionist was very helpful and gave me some good information.

AS IT TURNED OUT, I PAID FOR THE INSPECTION & WAS TOLD THAT THE CHIMNEY WAS CLEAN; NO OTHER WORK WAS INDICATED. THEY WERE HONEST IN HAVING ME ONLY PAY FOR THE INSPECTION & NOT DOING UNNECESSARY WORK!

CHIMNEY WAS LOOKING REALLY HUMBLE AND WAS TIRED OF LOOKING AT IT WHEN I WAS OUTSIDE. THEY DID A WONDERFUL JOB AND REPRESENTED THEIR COMPANY WELL. GREAT JOB.

RICK WAS VERY PUNCTUAL, QUIET, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COMPETENT. HE BROUGHT HIS EQUIPMENT THROUGH MY BACKYARD, EXPLAINED THE PROCESS, THEN FINISHED HIS WORK. GREAT JOB!I LIKED HIS WORK SO WELL THAT I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD TALK TO MY DAUGHTER ABOUT HIM AS SHE ALSO NEEDS HER CHIMNEY SWEPT. HE BROUGHT IN 2 BUSINESS CARDS, ONE FOR HIM AND ONE FOR MY DAUGHTER.

I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS COMPANY. THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS. A VERY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY THAT DIDNT OVERCHARGE ME. I WILL USE THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE.
