MSJ Delivery Moving & Storage

I think that the resonant thought that I keep having when I think of MSJ's work is that "These guys know what they're doing." The truck was clean. They took appropriate measures to wrap and protect my things as well as well as removing them from my old house and placing them in my new house. Just one or two small bumps and a scratch on my front door that I found later. All in all, when you are hiring a mover, you need to consider what the wrong mover might do to your house or things....problems that might take weeks and lots of money (and hassle) to resolve. I would definitely recommend these guys.

Moises, Juan, and Marcel were professional and worked quickly and efficiently. They were careful with my belongings and respectful. I would use them again in a heartbeat, though I hope I don't have to move again any time soon.

The company was prompt, professional and experienced in moving. They showed up on time, had all of the necessary supplies, knew how to handle and move furniture and did it well. They packed what we had to move in a way that protected the goods and didn't waste any time. I was paying by the hour so I paid attention to how efficient they were. The two guys who moved us were hustlers. They didn't waste any time. They kept moving all of the time. I was fearful that by paying by the hour, they wouldn't be too quick to get things done, but I was wrong. After the truck was loaded they drove quickly to the destination, unloaded everything, set-up and assembled some furniture and had everything done in a couple of hours. No damage and they were courteous and polite. I would highly recommend them

My mother was very pleased with the move. The movers arrived on time and were courteous and polite. They worked quickly to try to move my mother within the two hour time period, and only went over by about 15 minutes, which was at a prorated rate. The only thing I was not aware of is that the clock started when the movers left their location and not when they arrived at my mother's apartment. Since the move was on a Monday morning, there could have been problems with the movers stuck in rush-hour traffic, or my mother could have lived further away, which would have seriously cut into that two-hour time move time. Thank goodness that was not a major issue. Overall, it was a good experience.

I had two hours of service from them. I ran a bit of problem but I worked it out. I had a conversation with him, he was completely responsive about the scheduling. We didn't communicate clearly about the deal was and and he was moving some things from one house in the storage until then, they were finished in 2 hours time but they handed my husband a bill for $40 to $80 or something and he pain it for travel time, so I called them discussing about the deal that was not clear, so he sent me the money back. I was able to talked to the contractor to my satisfaction. They weren't stellar but I will use them again.

I had a beast of an armoire to move upstairs. It involved a 90 deg right turn half way up a flight of stairs. Called MSJ. Stu took the call - very polite and easy to work with. Scheduled me for the next morning. Crew of 2 called in advance, showed up on time, moved the piece with no scratches, wall scrapes - nothing at all. Perfect service. I'd definitely use their service again.

Called Stu (owner) because of his great Angie's List reviews and set up a day to make a small move from one Assisted living room to another about 4 miles away. Stu and his helper called first to say they were on their way and showed up on time. They organized the items to be moved including packing the clothes in a hanger box, disassembled the bed and then proceded to load everything into their truck. They tied everything down to ensure nothing could move during the relocation. They followed me to the new location and moved everything from the truck to the new room. They neatly hung the clothes in the closet, reassembled the bed and placed all the furniture in areas we showed them. All this was completed in 2 hours. I've recommended them to everyone I know. They were friendly and great. It's nice to find someone who you can trust to do a job well.

On time On budget Professional Polite

Went good. I found them this morning, emailed from Angies list and Stu got back to me right away. Stu and Jason met me at the guys house I bought all the furniture from on craigslist and they wrapped it all up and loaded it in their truck. We went to my house, I tried to fit it all in my narrow garage but after a little convincing by Stu I agreed to store it with him until I get rid of my old stuff. They prorate the storage, so I only pay for the days I use. I Have to pay another delivery fee though. Very nice guys, polite, dressed in uniforms and were punctual.

Went great. I called and talked with someone today. They came out on short notice and I just watched. I mentioned I was going to throw my Ikea dresser away if it broke during the move because I broke it last year moving. They took good care of it and it's still a functional dresser. That made me so happy.

I am not typically one to write long reviews, but these guys have become like family to me with as much work as they have done for e over the last months. My husband is a U.S. Marine and was getting deployed back in August and I found myself with only a few days to figure out what to do with all of our stuff as we were only month to month in our rental and did not want to continue paying for a 3 bedroom house if it was going to be just me and my dog for a year or more. Stu came out to our house the same day that I called and met with myself and my husband just prior to him leaving. He was very upfront with the expenses that went along with packing up a whole house in just a few days, but without ever saying it he saw that money was a concern to us. It wasn't until the crew showed up that I realized why he was so understanding. On top of being exceptional at their job, Matt, Brandon and Jason are active Marines who work for MSJ on their available weekends. At the risk of sounding cheesy, it made me feel immediately as comfortable as if my husband was taking care of our things. As part of the estimate Stu had outlined the likely cost for boxes and supplies, but as we settled up the tab for that first wave of stuff going into storage, Matt pointed out that Stu had the guys pull every recycled box they had in stock at no charge, and the line on the paperwork for materials cost read "Thank you for your family's service" I hired MSJ about 4 more times to move more items into storage from a few different locations in San Diego. The last time a few weeks ago Moises and Matt pointed out that they felt that I was over paying for storage as I had done it in a scattered manner by securing 4 separate smaller units at various stages of moving. They called Stu and he offered to waive any overtime and had the guys pull everything out of the units, recommended the size to get, and had the guys replace everything into the larger one. It cost an extra $265 in labor, and will continue to save me nearly $350 every month. Over all these months there has not been a single job too small that Stu wouldn't happily send one of the guys to help me out. I cannot thank them enough for making a pretty tough transition so much easier. I whole-heartedly recommend MSJ for any job, they are exceptional movers,and absolutely great people.

AWESOME! I called and talked with Stu (i think) im horrible with names. But i got a quote over the phone, and he was near by and came out to see everything in person too. The guys showed up on time, they called me 10 minutes before showing up. the guys were really nice, all in uniform. I showed them everything at first and they wrappd up my new furniture and I told them I didnt care about the rest but they were very careful even with my just ikea furniture. They were about done inside of 3 hrs so I asked if they could pick up a couch for me at costco before they took off. Stu called and said no problem. I AM SO EXCITED I GOT EVERYTHING ALL DONE IN 1 DAY! moved and picked up new furniture and they helped me put my tv on the wall. thank you

I called Matt to move a mattress and box spring for me from Encinitas to Escondido. Could not possibly take 1.5 hours. He wanted $100 and wrote me a snotty text about how he was not going to pay ME to move my stuff when I thought that was a high price. He acts all nice and respectful until he does not get his way and then acts like a lunatic. I referred him to a friend and Jason freaked out on her. These guys are overworked loose cannons. I have the texts to prove it. VERY unprofessional. I was his new best friend when I was getting him referrals, but when I questioned a price he quoted, I am suddenly a crazy lady. Don't let Matt's charming accent and yes maam's fool you. I don't mind paying a fair price for good work. But they ditched me halfway through my move for a better opportunity. Two weeks later and I am still less than half moved. I recommend the company, but not the guys when they ask for work on the side for cash. I will gladly provide evidence to support this. Matt claims the owner is fine with what he does in his free time. I am not looking to get him in trouble--I am looking to save YOU the nightmare I have just gone through. We (the friend that I referred with a HUGE house to move) provided food and beverages and ultimately got royally screwed by them. Matt spent much time outside on the phone and smoking. Jason drank all the alcohol in sight. Again, they are full time Marines and this is their side job so I want to be fair. They are burning the candle at both ends by being full time Marines and having a part time job with a moving company. How could they possibly do a good job starting their own business on top of a full time job and a part-time job? I hope my experience and review can save you the headache I have right now.

Everything was positive - I plan to use MSJ again for another planned move

This is the second time I have used MSJ Delivery, and again I was very satisfied with their service. I had to move a garage full of household items, mostly boxed, at fairly short notice, and the owner Stu was very quick to get back to me and set me up with 3 strong guys and a truck. On moving day the truck had some mechanical problems but I was kept informed of the revised ETA and told they were finally on their way, which was polite. At first I thought it would take 2 trips with the 16 ft truck, but the 3 guys who showed up wasted no time in packing everything efficiently while taking care with the more fragile and oddly shaped items. In the end they more than made up for lost time. I hope I don't have to move anything again for a while, but if I do I would ONLY call MSJ to do it. Well worth the money and much better than relying on friends to help you move!

I searched Angie's List for a local moving company and decided upon MSJ Delivery. On or about 11/20, I contacted Stu regarding a somewhat complicated move for 12/3: 4bdrm/2ba house w/Fridge & Oven about 2mi away, then switching out the destination fridge/oven to the originating address. After leaving a message, I was pleased that he answered promptly (within 1 business day), and was able to come out the very day he called to do a walkabout and give an estimate. He was very up front about the cost (approx $1100 or so -- can't remember exact am't), expected length of time to complete the move, and the number of persons to expect to do the move (3). On 12/2, Stu called me personally to confirm time/plans. On moving day, the 3 guys arrived (I can't remember their names @ this point), were polite -- I had to queue them for their names; introductions is a lost art in this day/age, and worked as a team. After explaining the appliance switching, bedroom furniture assembling, etc., they wasted no time in starting. The 3 were very careful about cushioning, packaging, moving and transporting our belongings, from origin to destination. At the destination address, they were very careful to unload, unpack and assemble furniture; the office desk was complicated to reassemble, yet they were very sporting and patient. The bedroom furniture reassembly at the destination address was done in short order, and in a very careful manner. Even though I had ALL my dishes/kitchen pre packed, labeled and read to go, the entire process took around 8-10 hrs, because the appliances were a nightmare to fit thru/bring in the door. Twice the guys had to move my original refrigerator, b/c it didn't fit into the kitchen. The origin refrigerator ended up in the garage -- we kept the destination address' refrigerator in its place. Despite it all, the guys were very patient, no curse words/complaints was heard. They literally looked out for each others' backs, and did not take an excessive am't of time out for their lunch break. Despite Stu deeming our belongings as "minimal", If I hadn't pre packed our clothes and kitchenware, this move would have exceeded the estimated completion time. So glad I did! MSJ Delivery offers a 10% discount to Angie's List Members. I am very pleased with the services received, and would definitely use them again/recommend to others. An added bonus is that Stu employs U.S. Servicemembers whenever possible, and does not employ illegal immigrants. This isn't about politics, its a critical component for granting my business and hard earned monies for services rendered. I want English speakers (I don't care the ethnicities) to avoid any miscommunication, and if my belongings are damaged, I want accountability and reimbursement, not political correctness.

This was truly a fantastic experience. We have moved ourselves many times before, and this was our first time hiring a moving crew. It was SO worth the money! The highlight for us was the quality of the workers Stu sent. The crew leader was fantastic to work with, and they were all super polite and really nice men. They worked really hard the whole time. We were paying an hourly rate, but they never slowed down at all- they clearly were not trying to drive up the price by going slowly. In fact, they worked so quickly that we came in under the estimate. We would use this service again in an instant!

I spoke with the owner of MSJ and at the time he was busy with a move. He took my number down and said he would call me back that evening to discuss the scheduling of the job. We had already discussed the scope of work. He never called back.

The move went well overall. The movers were friendly and worked professionally while loading and unloading our belongings. They also helped us get rid of old furniture we no longer use. However, after the move, we noticed a few notches on different pieces of our wood furniture. Also, the work was performed at both homes in La Mesa and Napa; and, I previously marked that we would not use MSJ Delivery again since we no longer live in the San Diego County area.

They were great--on time, good at problem solving, cheerful, and expert. I would hire them again for any moving job, large or small.

I used MSJ because of the reviews on Angie's List. I booked the moving day with Stu, the owner of the business. He was quite helpful in explaining how the billing would be figured. When I called a couple of days prior to the move date to ask for some hanging clothes boxes he told me that I could have as many as needed and, if they were handed back on the day of the move, there would be no charge. Brandon, Juan, and Damon from MSJ moved my best friend from a rental unit into my husband's and my home. The three of them were amazing! Punctual, professional, careful, and very gracious...I've never been "mam'd" so many times in my life, but every time it was completely sincere. Brandon, Juan, and Damon are all serving or have their country as U.S. Marines; the discipline and training from the Marine Corps was evident in their manners and work ethics. All three fellows were cheerful and willingly moved some items already in my house to make room for the items moving in even though that service hadn't been part of the estimate. I've used several other moving companies in the San Diego area and, in my opinion, MSJ is the best there is!

We were moving my mother into an assisted living facility after months of agonizing conversations. I went to Angie's List and found MSJ and, based on their reviews from locals, called and talked to Stu. I explained the situation and he was very reassuring. He went over all details and charges up front, so I wouldn't be surprised. The three young men who showed up to move my mom were warm, friendly and helpful. We were hoping to be able to tell them what to take and then get to the facilities ahead of them, so it was important that they listen and that we had a good feeling about their trustworthiness. They were wonderful. They got everything right, and even called me to check on the status of some cable boxes we had left on the floor next to a television we tagged for delivery. When they got to the facility, they were efficient and low maintenance (which given the fact that we had numerous parties vying for our attention, was critical to our sanity). I am very impressed and highly recommend MSJ for moving needs.

The two young men did a wonderful job! They were quick and careful and very courteous.
