MSJ Delivery Moving & Storage

Stu and his team are friendly and professional. They also work very hard. However, MSJ Delivery is not good at estimating the cost of the move. They way underestimated the cost to move us and, as a result, were by far the most expensive option out there. Stu said that the cost would be $1500 for him to pack us on day 1 for 8 hours and another $1500 to move us on day 2 for 8 hours, including the Angie's list discount. When I mentioned to him that we were going to take care of the packing ourselves and would only need him on day 2, he said that would be fine and we would only pay $1500 for them to move us. On the day of the move, 4 guys showed up with 2 trucks on time as promised. However, it took the 4-man crew 13 hours to move us. This included having my wife and I help them. As a result, we were billed for 8 hours of regular pay plus 5 hours of overtime pay. The final bill for the 1-day move, not including packing, was over $2700, not $1500 as quoted!!! The other moving companies had quoted me $2,000. From my perspective, a moving company should really set expectations of cost up front. In fact, Stu says he prides himself in coming under his estimates. However, this is far from my experience. In fact, it felt more like bait-and-switch. As a result, I would not recommend MSJ Delivery. Look elsewhere for a company that can provide a fair estimate and then deliver on that.

There was additional time purchased as I had more work than what the deal offered. I did purchase moving boxes from them as well. There were no damages and everything was fine.

The move went flawless. Shawn, Miles and Dakota did excellent work. They were courteous, professional and hard workers. I am very impressed with how quickly they worked and got me moved in about 3 hours. I will recommend MSJ Delivery to everyone I know and will definitely use them again.

I called MSJ Delivery and spoke with Tina. She was exceedingly helpful in figuring out what services I would need to complete the move. This included explaining that my time would start when they left the shop and would end when they were ready to leave my place. She also explained how the fuel charge worked and that there would be a slight percentage increase for using my credit card. Basically, Tina did her level best to ensure I wouldn't have any nasty surprises on my bill in the end and that I understood what every cent was paying for. She even offered to have the owner come out and look over the situation if I wanted a not to exceed price. She asked all the right questions in order to give a solid estimate. In addition to moving all the furniture and belongings for a typical one bedroom flat, I needed quite a bit of items moved from the garage. This included some very heavy items like my Knaack Job Box which is full of industrial tools. To top it off, I was moving to the top of a steep hill. The new house is three story split level home with two sets of stairs. This required the movers to carry my bedroom furniture up both sets to the top floor. The very heavy stuff went into the garage on the ground floor. I requested three men with a 24' truck for three hours. The larger truck had a lift gate which works well for moving very heavy items. I also requested that they show up by 8:00 a.m. latest in case it was going to be another hot day. Tina set it up so they would leave the office at 7:00 a.m. and arrive at my place before 8:00 a.m. She said they would also confirm the day before and call me when they were leaving the shop to head to my place. Sure enough, I spoke with Tina the day before the move to confirm. She asked me if there were any last minute requests for things I would like them to bring such as extra dollies. She went out of her way to ensure I had everything I needed to complete the task. The movers called promptly and 7:00 a.m. to let me know they were in route. By 7:40 a.m. they were getting out of the truck in my driveway. Well before the 8:00 a.m. cutoff I had requested. Big plus one to start as I can't stand when people don't keep appointments. Dakota, Gary, and Miles were the three Gentlemen that greeted me that rainy morning. Each offered a firm hand shake and a smile while introducing themselves. All of them were attentive and alert. I let them know from the start that I considered their safety more important than any of the items they would be moving. I told them to take as much time as needed to ensure their well being. They conducted themselves as professionals should. They were very polite to all members of my family and willingly answered any questions asked of them. They moved everything in the order I requested and had the truck loaded in approx. 90 mins. Acting an an efficient team, they made short work of the task at hand. They didn't damage any items and never hit a wall, even when moving large items through narrow hallways. Once we got to the new house, they really shined. First, they waited for my room mate to wake up and move his vehicles. He was still asleep because neither of us were expecting the movers to finish at my old place as quickly as they did. The new place had just been remodeled with new paint and carpet. They laid a moving blanket on the carpet just off the entryway so they wouldn't track water or dirt from the rain into the house. They didn't put a single mark on anything. We know because we took pictures of every inch of the house prior to the move in case they did hit something. They completed the job in 3 hours and 15 minutes. They would have finished in 3 hours flat if they didn't have to wait for the vehicles to be moved. All in all, they did everything right without having to be told. They worked hard and didn't stand around talking needlessly. Their attitude was excellent, even with the rain. Attitude counts a lot in my book and theirs made the whole process pleasant. The best part was that nothing was broken, left behind, or stolen. All of which have happened with past moving companies. I can't recommend this outfit enough. Top notch service brought in under the estimate by professionals who know what they are doing. These folks moved us last Saturday. We had never used movers for a local move, and let me tell you it is well worth it!!!. The MSJ office person was friendly, detail oriented, honest and helpful. Our crew arrived on time, they were polite, and hustled to get the job done within the timeline that we had scheduled. I would definitely use them again in a heartbeat!

Overall: Andre, Carlos, & Nick were a fabulous team. They worked tirelessly to get me moved as quickly as possible and never seemed overwhelmed or phased by the work. Andre, Carlos, and Nick were completely professional and I wouldnt hesitate to use them again. Quality: Andre packed and organized the moving truck while Carlos and Nick moved furniture and items from the house to the base of the truck. It was very efficient and orderly. All the furniture with drawers was wrapped with plastic to prevent drawers from moving in transit. Andre, Carlos, and Nick also built and provided me with wardrobe boxes which helped move clothes quickly. Responsiveness: Andre, Carlos, and Nick were very accommodating. It seemed like they were willing to go the extra mile in anyway that I needed to make the move easier. They also called me before they arrived to let me know they were on their way. Punctuality: The guys actually showed up about 20 minutes early. Professionalism: Andre, Carlos, and Nick were very professional. A few times I tried pitching in a hand to bring things down to the truck, and whenever one of them saw me carrying stuff they immediately took things out of my hands or offered to get it for me. They worked fast and were careful and made a difficult day a little bit easier. Price: I ended up going over the 3hr Big Deal special, which pushed the price up for me. And of course the fuel charge and 3% credit card charge totaled about $400. Worth it though!

They were on time. Did what they said they would do. They were efficient and professional in their handling of the furniture and they were extremely helpful in getting this move accomplished. They were very friendly and got things done quickly. Very good company.

We were serviced by Fernando, Miles, and Rafael. All were friendly and professional. They showed up on time and had everything packed up in 3.5 hours. They were very understanding of the situation, we are doing a remodel and everything they remove they will be returning with. They were very organized and were careful not to damage the furniture. We are very comfortable using them to move the items back into the newly remodeled condo when we are done. We are most concerned with having careful movers. These are the guys. We really hope to have the same crew when the items are returned next month. We will certainly give a follow up review which I am confident will be as glowing as this one.

On time, very courteous, worked very quickly. Nothing was damaged.

The staff were very professional. They worked quickly and efficiently and had my parents moved in no time. They were carefully with their belongings and my parents were very pleased.

Here's an awesome example of how a moving company should operate! I called MSJ Delivery about 4 weeks before we wanted to move out of our apartment. I spoke with Tina and she was able to schedule our move on the date and time we wanted. After setting the appointment, she sent me an email just to confirm everything we had talked about. Fast forward a few weeks later and the day before the move I got a call from Tina letting me know that everything was on track and that I would be getting a phone call about 30 minutes before scheduled arrival from the mover. The next morning, at 30 mins before the scheduled move time, I get a call from the mover (Andy) informing me that they were leaving the warehouse and on their way to our apartment. A few minutes before the scheduled time, they were at our complex. The three gentlemen introduced themselves (Andy, Kevin and Rob) and surveyed what needed to be moved from all of the various rooms and then immediately started moving stuff onto the truck. In about 45 mins, Andy, Kevin and Rob had expertly loaded all of our boxes (we packed them ahead of time) and furniture perfectly onto the truck. Andy told me that they would take a short 20 min break (off the clock) and would meet us at our new home. No sooner did we arrive at our new home and Andy and the guys were driving down our street. Again, they came inside and asked where we wanted everything placed in the various rooms and went at it like the pros that they are! Our new home has real wood floors throughout and they laid out a protective roll of carpeting so as not to scratch the wood flooring. Kevin and Rob were also very careful with moving the pieces of furniture into the various rooms without breaking a single thing or scratching any of the door frames, etc. When all was said and done, the total move time came to just under 3 hours (Angie's list special was for the full 3 hours, but that's OK by me, since they did an awesome job!) and we were all done! Fantastic! They even let us borrow some wardrobe boxes so that we could just hang our clothing instead of taking them off the hangers and boxing them up! Having moved several times with various movers in the past 18 years, I must say that MSJ Delivery was the absolute best and their movers, Andy, Kevin and Rob, are real moving professionals! Kudos to your whole team!

That was good and they moved some stuff from a storage area to a garage. They didn’t damage anything either. They were prompt and professional.

Fernando and Miles did a great job. They showed up on time, were professional and courteous and had to move queen sized bed that was extra heavy because of its metal construction and motors. The bed wouldn't fit up the spiral stair case so they had to lift it up to a second story deck and over the railing. Before they moved the bed they wrap it up for protection.

We picked this company of Angie's list and gave them a call. I scheduled a date a few weeks out and agreed on a hourly rate. They called twice during that time to confirm the move. Fernando and Byron called as they were in route and showed up as scheduled. They handled the move from a single story to a two story in a professional manner. Their was some very heavy items that needed to be located on the second floor and we had just stained and painted. Not a scratch. Job well done

Very punctual and they were so polite and professional. Took great care in moving the items with regards to wrapping and protecting them and getting them out of the room. Upon delivery to where they were going they placed them where they needed to go and cleaned up the wrapping materials and left the area very neat and tidy. I would hire MSJ Delivery again without any hesitation. From the moment I scheduled the appointment (which was also handled with efficiency and professionalism) to when the job was finished it was a breeze. Thank you!

All went well. Andy, Shawn and Fernando moved the equivalent of an one bedroom apartment. Very efficient, no damage and the completed in 2 1/2 hours. We will definitely use MSJ again when needed

Tina, Andre and Fernando did a great job of coordinating our move unload even when our date changed 3x! The guys took great care of our stuff and did it with a wonderful attitude on a Sunday afternoon!

Extraordinary crew. They never slowed down for a minute during the entire day. They were super friendly and if I had at least one fourth of their energy, my life would be a lot better. The owner came out first and assessed our situation and gave us ideas of what options we had for moving everything out of our home. We had part of our belongings going to the Bay Area and the bulk of things going north about 600 miles. I had never moved before except in 1977 and at that point, my husband and I owned little and we handled that ourselves. The crew did fill their 26 ft. truck and partially filled my moving truck that was going north with me. They took their truck to my storage in San Marcos and unloaded it and they were able to fit everything into my storage. This was also done on the weekend despite that they already had plans for the evening. They made good time and nothing was broken and everything in my truck made it safely north although the truck that I had rented lost its brakes going down the Grapevine and I had to take off onto one of those ramps for runaway trucks. Now, that was frightening and I could feel that some of my load shifted. Ten hours later, I got home and my husband and I unloaded the truck and all of my glass cases and shelves and furniture were still in place and safe. What an adventure and when I am ready to clear out my storage and take the rest north, I will hire this company again to load my rented truck again.

Extremely professional and efficient from the outset. Tina coordinated the scheduling and start time that worked on my time line. Very thorough with follow-up and confirmation. The crew of Shawn, Andre and Niles called when they were on the way and arrived promptly as scheduled. They went right to work, packing, blanket wrapping and moving our belongings with great care, respect and efficiency. They worked very deliberately until the job was completed. My experience was excellent. They were very good, they communicated well and they did everything I asked them. I'm very pleased. They we're late but they called to let me know because they had traffic problems. They got there when they said they would.

I looked on Angie's List for a good mover and found a few... MSJ had some great reviews... I read them all. OCD, yup. I initially thought it would have only taken a couple guys a couple hours to move my stuff... I was wrong. I didnt realize after 5yrs of accumulating junk I had 2 full trucks worth of stuff. Stu was great, he came to my house, told me Im crazy to think I had a small truck worth of stuff that 2 guys could handle. He made me a better deal than the storage place I originally had booked, and explained to me exactly how long and why it would take 5 guys and 2 trucks to move my stuff. The guys called the day before to remind of of moving day, lol, and again the morning of to let me know they are on time and on the way. All the guys were nice, I didnt see anyone smoking or taking breaks. They were all courteous and introduced themselves and worked very hard to cram everything I owned into the 2 trucks. It barley fit. I will write another review when they move me back into my new home, when I find it.

Bought the Big Deal for $149 for 2 hours, 2 men and a 16ft truck. Scheduled my move to start at 9am. They called me at 8:30am to let me know they were leaving the werehouse and would arrive shortly. They showed up a little after 9am and got to work right away. They wrapped all of the furniture and packed it on the truck. Drove from our San Diego downtown condo to our new home in Chula Vista and unloaded our furniture. When it was time to end our session it was alittle past 11am. I thought I was in my alotted 2 hour time frame, but was told that the clock starts from the time they leave the warehouse and needed to pay an extra $117.00 dollars. I wouldn't have mind so much, had someone told me the clock starts ticking when they left the warehouse or if they had printed it in the fine print of the Big Deal. Otherwise, the move experience was great.

They were on time, we were late. I was in the moving business for quite some time and MSJ is as good as it gets.

Thank you MSJ! You guys were awesome! From the first time I called and spoke with Tina, I knew we would be taken care of. She was very easy to work with and got me a full crew of 3 guys and a truck for two days from the date I called! I was nervous because this was a gift of moving for an employee of mine. I wanted it to go perfectly. As it turns out, Shawn, Andre and Kevin showed up exactly when they were supposed to, wrapped all of the furniture, loaded the boxes, unloaded everything, were pleasant, quick and sooooooo appreciated. Tina emailed and called me timely with all of the information I needed, exactly as she said she would. My only recommendation would be that you ask how long the guys anticipate the move to take so that you can estimate your charges. But I will absolutely be using them again! Thanks all!

It went so well that we've used them 3 times since! The price was reasonable and I was satisfied with the quality of the work. They were very careful with our household goods and nothing was broken.
