Description of Work: They want 85 dollars to diagnose a problem and if you want to fix the problem, the 85 DOES NOT go towards the fix. Completely ridiculous.

Description of Work: I called them in to give me an estimate on repairing our dishwasher. He spent no more than 5 minutes at our home, didn't look at the appliance, told me that it was old and should probably be replaced, and then charged me $80 which he said could be applied towards a new appliance at Gormsen. I was very dissatisfied.

Description of Work: I bought a service package for $75 worth of service for $50 directly from Angie's list. The company was responsive in setting up an appointment. I was given a "window of time". The day of service, I called shortly before 4pm (the end of my window of time) to verify I was still scheduled for service. I was informed at that time that service on LG appliances were not typically performed by their company but they would keep the appointment. I was not informed of that when I set the appointment. The technician arrived approximately 45 minutes later than the latest "window of time". The service was for my dryer. The technician, was knowledgeable about the dryer. It was evident I needed two rollers replaced. I was handed a part of the dryer insides to hose off with water myself. Wanting the work done properly, I did as was asked. The work was completed in less than an hour. In which time I was handed the bill. I was astounded at the cost. The cost was $249.80 before the Angie's list coupon. I am new to home service repairs and unfamiliar with appliance repair pricing. The issue was that at no time was I given or advised of the cost until after the work was complete. While I did need the work done, I should have been advised of the cost prior to the work being executed. I now know to ask questions and request pricing before work is performed. While I am pleased my dryer is working, I will not hire this company again.

Description of Work: Checked out the stove to make sure there were no gas links. Told me to call SDG&E to check gas pressure coming into the house. NOTE: They charged me $75 and I paid Angie's list $105. I have emailed Angie's list for a refund and am still waiting to hear from someone.

 + -1 moreThe technician arrived promptly and quickly determined that the compressor had seized up. Unfortunately that meant that I either had to spend $560 to replace it, or buy a new fridge. I decided to buy a new one, and hopefully it won't need repairs for a long time, but when the time comes, I'll call Gormsen again.
Description of Work: My refridgerator died, so they sent a repairman to determine whether it could be revived.

They gave me a quote but they have not yet prosecuted the repair so I don't know how close they are going to come to the quote. It's the only Maytag washer in the history of mankind to actually need a repair. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and they are now coming to repair it. Their responsiveness is very good. Their punctuality is good so far. He called me and is on the way.
Description of Work: Gormsen Appliance made a diagnostic call last week. The seal had broken and the bearing had subsequently failed because of that in a top loading washer.

 + -1 moreWe liked them. They were good. We spent around $70 on the service. They came out and diagnosed the problem. There was water in the stove. They could have told us that there was some other problem, but they were honest. They also looked at the oven. They did a couple of other things that they didn?t come for initially, but they were very helpful. I will use them again in the future.

 + -1 moreArrived within time ranged promised. Tech knew exactly what to test using electric plugs in the front. He quickly identified the problem (blown heat fuse). He open the rear of the dryer and replaced the heat fuse. Then he cleaned up lint, etc. that had fallen on the floor. In addition, he provided clear verbal instructions on how to prevent the problem in the future.
Description of Work: Clothes dryer stopped heating.

 + -1 moreAs I stated above. Cleaned up after himself. Very informative on how to prevent problems such as this. Knew what he was doing. Knew the machine quite well. The screw was caught up in the back which made it more difficult, but he knew exactly where it was and fixed it. I would recommend him to others.
Description of Work: I needed my Maytag washing machine fixed. He found a screw that had stopped the machine from working. Took it out and it was done. Very nice. Cleaned up after himself. Thought the price was fair.

 + -1 moreI discovered my frozen food all thawed on Saturday, 29 Dec. which was a very bad time to have my 6-year old Amana refrigerator fail. I called all the places recommended by Amana, and only Gormsen could make it out prior to New Years. I had purchased my Maytag washer from them and had them repair it with good results, so made an appointment for 31 Dec. at 1:00pm. Their serviceman called at about 8:00 that morning and came right out at about 9:00. He fixed my refrigerator quickly. He suspected the problem immediately, but still did a thorough test to make sure. So I wish it could have been quicker to save my food, but they did what they promised to do and did it quicker than the other places I called.
Description of Work: Replaced a failed relay on a 6-year old Amana refrigerator.
