I used them. It wasn't as good as it might have been, probably because of the excessive amount of junk that I keep in my garage, and it made accessing the rollers impossible without moving the stuff. It was heavy stuff. He said they work, and he lubed it a little bit, and he helped me program my remote for my car that I recently bought, and he got that working with my garage door opener, and eventually gave up, couldn't make it go. He got me a refund on the rollers. A couple of days later, I wrestled with the remote a little more, and I fixed it. He could have been more familiar with such systems, maybe my system was the only one he wasn't familiar with. The best thing was that when he realized that replacing the rollers was a nightmare, he gave me a refund on it. The price may have been higher than what I needed it to be for what was done.

It cost quite a bit. The results weren't desirable. The smaller door was acting up. There was a double size and single one. The smaller one seemed to be fine for a couple of days, but now it's just as bad. The door that he put parts on is working satisfactory. The one that I called him for is still making a horrible racket. It was a couple weeks later. It was a lot more than I expected and the door is still not operating correctly. The charge was for an unexpected problem. The charge for the big door was good. They did a good job on one door and the other door isn't working properly. I should call them out to fix the other door.
Description of Work: Garage Door Medics repaired the other door, rather than the one that I called them to come and look at. They had to replace some major parts. He lubed up the smaller one and aligned it. They had to change the springs on the larger one that was broken. I didn't know that. Part of the price was a Big Deal purchase.

Short and sweet: Leo was excellent Arrived on-time. He was very professional and was able to quickly diagnose the problem. He was able to match a competitors pricing even though the competitor may not have provided the same level of service. He was able to finish the job in a clean and expeditious manner. I recommended him to a neighbor who was experiencing the same problems.

Gene Arnell, the Garage Door Medic technician arrived on time and did an outstanding job on replacing the incorrect parts. He explained in detail what the problems were, the parts that needed to be replaced and provided the price. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Garage door now works like it's brand new. I would use this company again for any further problems with the door.
Description of Work: Checked the operation of the garage door and determined the following: 1. Determined that the wrong springs and mounting bracket for the spring rod was previously installed was the wrong type.

My first review concerning this company was based on the fact that their invoice showed only a 30 day parts and labor warranty. I felt this was a poor warranty since the original parts lasted over twenty years. Just a couple weeks later the door seemed to be bouncing a bit to much and I decided I'd better call them quick before my warranty ran out. I called and they were out right away, The repairman (John?) corrected the bouncing even replaced all the rollers again although it was all well within factory norms, and showed me a corrected invoice showing that it had a one year warranty and apologized saying that somehow I had gotten one of their old invoices that showed thirty days, which in fact, should and is one year. This company is a class act and I will not hesitate to use them again and will most definitely refer them to friends and family. As for the price, In the future I will do my price comparison and still give them first shot at the job.

My wife & I came come a few evenings ago and parked our car in the garage and closed the garage door as we walked into the house. We soon heard a horrendous bang that sounded like a car crashing. It turned out the torsion spring had broken on our Martin Garage Door. The next day, my wife called the ?Garage Door Medics? and made appointment to get the garage door fixed. We were offered to get it fixed the same day, but had to delay it to the following day because of our previous commitments. The technician John K. called 30 minutes before the appointment time, showed up on time, was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I?m a retired engineer and had many technical questions for John. He thoroughly explained why two torsion springs are better than one, and was able to show me how one bushing was wearing much more than the other. John installed two new torsion springs, end bearing plates, drums, and new wire rope cables. He was careful to clean up all grease spots, etc.. I had him come back the following day to replace the rollers that were badly cracked. The total cost was very reasonable and it was a pleasure dealing with the Garage Door Medics front office and the technician John. My 1997 double wide garage door will now probably outlast me!

We've used several garage door repair companies. I've decided this is the only one anyone should use. And my reasoning is simple. They are honest and want to provide good service. I got lucky and worked with Jeff T. I initially called them out to install a new garage door opener. Instead of just digging into the box, Jeff asked me why I wanted to change it and checked the whole operation out. He determined that we did not need the old garage door opener replaced (a savings of $200+ and labor of $175). Instead, for the $49 service call, he fixed the popping in our garage door, fixed the light fixture, reprogrammed my remotes, and lubricated all the hinges and spring. It's as good as new, and he explained what I should be spending my money on later when we had trouble . . . a new door. And when we get there, we'll be calling Garage Door Medics. As a side note, I had a great experience with scheduling also. I called on a Thursday and they were able to fit me in on a Saturday. Got a call from Jeff T when he was nearly on his way. Loved the service from this company. I know I'm always scared when hiring professionals to repair something I know nothing about. I'm afraid of getting cheated. That's not the case here. And it's very much appreciated not being sold services or goods that I don't need. I'll be a loyal customer for years to come. Thanks!

Our garage door was making a clanking sound when it opened. I went on Angie's list and after a thorough review of alternatives selected Garage Door Medics and purchased their $49.00 tune up. I spoke to Jessica at their office who was very friendly and helpful. Caleb showed up and I explained the problem to him. He was very knowledgeable and experienced. He explained why the clanking was likely happening and also explained that the door was sticking and out of balance due to the 15 year old springs. He recommended replacing the springs and screw drive trolley which was likely the source of the clanking. He was very thorough in his explanations and listened patiently to all of my questions in an unhurried manner. I agreed to the above work the cost of which was detailed to me before the work was performed. During the repair, he noticed that the bearings on either end of the roll up bar over the door were worn out, and he demonstrated that they were to my satisfaction. Replacing these two bearing was added to the work order. When he removed the screw drive trolley he showed me that out of the 24 teeth on the trolley only 4 were left to engage the screw that opened the garage door, the rest were worn off. He was meticulous in his work, and worked quickly and efficiently. He tested and adjusted the door and made sure it moved in its side tracks without binding. I do not believe a better job could have been done. I think the cost of the repair was fair given the extent of the work and I believe he was honest in his approach to detailing what needed to be done and what was elective. He was very skilled, friendly, courteous and a wonderful representative of the company. Based on my first experience with Garage Door Medics I would recommend them highly to anyone requiring a garage door repair.

It went okay except for the garage door twitching. The battery gets too dead really quickly. As a matter of fact, I have to go and get a new battery for the remote today. I had problems with the one they put in. They came back and fixed it which was fine. They did okay. They just couldn't do it right the first time. Right now, they're functioning good except for the remote. They should have done it right the first time.

While performing the roller replacement, the new rollers were so significantly smaller than the factory rollers that there is now metal on metal wearing of the shafts on the rollers. This is due to the smaller size/cheaper quality rollers that were used to replace the manufacturer's rollers. Also removed and not replaced was the finger protection device which had been originally installed by the tech for Martin Garage Doors. During the service of the garage door, the capacitor blew. The replacement price was listed as $186.00; I was given a discount price of $90.00. The online price with a big box store is $15 - $20. I was also shown the screw drive carriage and it was represented to be defective. I am an experienced helicopter and auto mechanic and could not see anything wrong with the part. I declined to have the part replaced. The cost of a screw drive carriage online is $15 - $20 for which Garage Door Medic wanted an additional $90.00. I have had a tech from a subsequent company service my garage door opener and fix problems that were unresolved by Garage Door Medic except for the rollers. I was charged $99.00 for the capacitor installation and believe that the tech installed the incorrect size of rollers for the garage door. I do not wish to deal with this company ever again. I believe that I was overcharged for their service and their product. I seek reimbursement from Angie's List. It appears that both of the garage door tracks are damaged where the rollers were replaced. There are two dimples that weren't there before which causes the rollers to roll over the two bumps. Since this damage was not present on the initial installation but appeared after Garage Door Medics worked on the door, I am requesting that these tracks be replaced along with new rollers to original condition. Super impressed with this company. Like all companies I choose to work on my home, I do a TON of research. I check out Angie's list, Yelp, I ask friends for referrals, I read reviews, I check BBB, etc. Paranoid, I know. Hey - a few bad experiences before and I learned my lesson. I picked these guys because I liked their reviews on multiple sites. So here is my service call: I had an old garage door opener that we had taken down at some point (no idea why), but wanted it re-installed. I knew that would be cheaper than buying a whole new unit. We're selling our home soon and I just didn't want to spend any more than I had to. Here is why I had a great experience with this company: 1) With one brief phone call, had my appointment scheduled (I think it was a 2 or 3 hour appointment window) 2) Got an email confirming my appointment with the picture of the technician who would arrive. This is really valuable to have - so I know who is going to be at my door - it's a safety thing. 3) Another email when my technician was in route. He arrived like 10 minutes after that email arrived. 4) The technician arrived exactly when he said he would 5) Jeff T was professional, thorough and understood what I was trying to accomplish. He was very forthcoming with his assessment and never tried to upsell me or anything. 6). There was a crack in my garage door and he recommended and installed a support beam and then greased everything up and it's running smooth as silk. 7) They use ipads to complete the transaction, emailed my receipt. Easy peasy 8) Sent me a thank you email after our service appointment Just really impressed with the professionalism of this company.

I purchased a "garage door tune up and roller replacement" on our old and noisy garage door. No service or maintenance had been done on the garage door since we moved in 8 years ago. Jon T from GARAGE DOOR MEDICS located in San Diego arrived and I shared my concerns about the sun causing problems with the sensor when closing the door and that the rollers were catching at times when opening and closing. I was also concerned about the possibility of metal fatigue with the single spring being on the door. I'm very glad Jon T was the tech. He found that one of the drums was actually broken and that the current ORB was an older type that experienced quite a bit of repeated tension and unable to be adjusted. After discussing the issues he found I asked Jon to make the repairs and replace the needed upgrades. Well done Jon T. Thank you for your professional appearance and attitude, it was good to see someone responsible doing work on my house!!!

I know it is a cost to a business to send a technician to give a free quote, but you could go broke just getting more than one quote on a job - and it is always a good idea to get more than one estimate. I will not do business with anyone who will not give me a free on site quote.

Very poor experience with Garage Door Medics. I purchased a roller replacement package. When the technician arrived he checked the cables on the door and the springs. He said the cables look good and so did the springs. Then it went bad. He then tried to upsell me 2 new springs for $199.00. He said they look good but go out around 7 or 8 years. I declined the extra charge as he just told me they look good. He advised he was going to get started and I went in the house. A couple of minutes later he knocked on my door and told me the right cable needed to be replaced for $109.00 after he had just told me they look good and NOW showed me a frayed cable. He said if I did not replace it, the cable will fail and the door will come off the track, trying to get me to pay the extra $. What a joke! He just told me the cables were good and I walk in the house................and suddenly one of them are bad and have wire hanging out. I called the supervisor and he offered no assistance. Buyer beware, I would not recommend this company.

Response from Garage Door Medics
I apologize you were not happy with our service. Unfortunately the technician did not see the fray upon the brief once-over he gave the door before beginning the tune-up service. Once he began the actual tune-up he did a much more thorough inspection and found the fray in your cable. I can assure you though it is IMPOSSIBLE to fray a braided steel cable in a matter of minutes. It would be obviously apparent it was cut if we had employees with ZERO integrity who would actually do such a thing. Fortunately for us, every single one of our employees is honest and leads with integrity. Your cable was frayed from continued use over time and it is important to have it replaced for your safety and the longevity of the other moving parts on the door. I am sure when you call another company out to do the repair they will tell you the cable frayed over time. Hopefully at that point you will be understanding and remove your negative review. We do not up-sell anything that is not in need of replacement but we do suggest repairs on things that are showing signs of wear. We do this as a courtesy to our customers because it is more cost effective to have a repair company out only once to complete all work and so the customer will be aware of all impending needed repairs. We have over 6000 rave reviews from our customers across many platforms to attest for our integrity and honest work. We stand by our technicians diagnosis but would be happy to send out our Technician Manager to inspect the fray and the rest of the door to confirm the original inspection was done correctly.
