Description of Work: I asked for an estimate to trim 2 trees. I was not on the property when the owner came to assess and cost the job. When we later talked by telephone, he gave me an estimate for 2 trees that I had not asked about. When I asked how much it would cost to trim the 2 trees I was originally interested in, I was quoted an amount that was greater than the estimate he gave me for the 2 trees in which I was not interested. I ended up having Coastal Tree Care trim 1 tree in which I was not interested and for which I could use the groupon I purchased without being charged additional money.

Description of Work: The tree services and quality of work was great as was the professionalism of the two workers. What I am disappointed with is the charges and a lack of clear explanation of the charges for the work performed. The "deal" was for "$199 for 4 labor hours of tree service". I received an estimate from Adam for $540 but I knew it wouldn't take that long to do. The two workers spent one hour and forty-five minutes performing the work. So I assumed the $199 more than covered the work. I was subsequently informed by Missy, office Mgr, that the $199 only covered labor, that the quote included other costs for use of the equipment, hauling away the tree limbs, etc. etc totaling another $300. This was not explained or broken out in the estimate so I was not aware that the $199 did include such costs which were not shown. All I saw was two workers who spent less than 4 hours to do the job. If I had known the "real" deal I would not have taken the deal because I have had the same work done for the last five years by an equal quality arborist for at least $100 less. | |Missy has now informed me that there have been others who were confused by this deal. So, Coastal Tree Service has now discontinued this deal with Angie's List.

Description of Work: I needed to have a dead pine tree removed from my property. I thought that a couple hundred dollars on top of the $199.00 Deal would cover the job. The company representative said he uses a 4 man crew, which should be 1 hour of labor with the deal, with an additional $320.00 for an additional hour. He said he couldn't do it for less than $1000.00 on top of the $199.00 I had paid. I hired a service instead that has done excellent work for a friend. They are charging $375.00 and said it will take about 2 hours. If Costal Tree Care refunds my Deal payment without incident, I do not wish to post the review, since I can't judge the quality of their work.

Description of Work: The work is fabulous and it looks beautiful! It took me a while to get over the sticker shock from the initial estimate, especially since it was done as a "drive-by" when I wasn't home. What sold me is the owner was willing to let me pay for it over a few months, which is crucial for me since I am an unemployed teacher for the summer.

Description of Work: These guys knew what they were doing. The pruning cuts were clean and perfectly placed. They were quick and cleaned up after they were done. You get what you pay for!

Description of Work: I needed 2 palms, a queen and a pigmy date, trimmed. Both trees were fruiting and the queen had a few branches that were sagging. The crew removed all fruit and fruit pods, trimmed sagging and excessive branches, and cleaned the trunk of the date palm. Cleanup was thorough. They brought a chipper and processed the material on-site. The crew was polite and accommodating. They scheduled for 2pm but arrived about 40 minutes late. Not a big deal considering most service providers require you to provide a 4 hour window.

Description of Work: Removed limbs from tall trees on a hill and a large tree. Too much time has elapsed to give a cogent report. We have had several tree experts in over the years. It all runs together. |Don't have dates listed on old calendar. They did return to level off the stump after we called and made the request. Owner or foreman very personable. Undecided about using again.
