Wonderful! This is the second time I've used his services. He's super helpful, takes his time and stays extra if needed. Super knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge. He was exactly what I wanted and didn't sugar coat anything, told me exactly what the story was.

I was extremely impressed by Chris and his ability to enter into a house and instantaneously know what could be done to update it. Chris went through my house room by room pointing out what worked, didn't work and what changed could be made, allowing me to make a list of priorities. He gave me paint colors, cabinet suggestions, couch dimensions, and other ideas to make my house open, inviting and pleasant. I found my two hours with him extremely helpful and inspiring.

Chris has a fantastic eye for design, open to discuss his thoughts and shared a lot of really great ideas. We mostly wanted to get a professional's opinion on our remodel as we are working with a narrow kitchen space. Chris spent 2 full hours with us discussing various possibilities with us. We did talk to another kitchen designer to get a second opinion and in comparison Chris was significantly more experienced and thoughtful. We hope to work with Chris again some time in the future whenever we have needs on interior design.

Chris gave us a lot of wonderful ideas! We now have a plan that will make our kitchen more functional. We will also have room for a farm table and six chairs, which we didn't think would be possible. Chris is extremely knowledgeable and is great at troubleshooting "problem areas". We had purchased an Angie's List Big Deal--$89 for a two hour consultation--and definitely got more than our money's worth! The expert advice we received from Chris will keep us from making expensive mistakes on our reno.

If you have any type of home remodeling, interior design or related project hire Christian immediately. Don't even hem and haw about hiring a designer if you've never used one before, he is a pro at what he does and will help you pick exactly what is needed that fits your specific situation. He will help you be decisive, he truly wants to help no matter what your situation is. We are so fortunate to have discovered him on Angie's List. He will take all of the guesswork out of your decision making. If you have the budget for Christian to manage your project I would definitely recommend going that route. However, he is also happy to help DIYers like myself that are going out and picking things out individually. He also has a lot of contacts in the industry and will tell you the best places to go in San Diego. Still do you own research if you have the time, but he has already vetted everything and just sticks to the best. Thank you Christian you are truly a godsend!!

Lots of good ideas and an honest critique of our existing and proposed plans

Chris is an excellent designer. His sense of scale, color and placement is very good. However the execution of his design- by his subs left a lot to be desired. The job that should have taken six weeks- took four months. It turned into an unpleasant ordeal.

I definitely got my money's worth. Chris was helpful and recognized items I loved and would be unable to part with. He also recognized I was working with a budget, and helped me prioritize projects. He made it clear he was working around my needs, not just implementing a sterile decorator's model design. He really does focus on the client. I will use him again when I start on project #1.

Chris was great. He's very personable and down to earth. He also did the work to re-arrange furniture so that when he left, my home looked much, much better. He gave me great ideas on window treatments and suggested places where I could get the look that were very within my budget. It was a great first time introduction working with an interior designer

Chris had a lot of great ideas and packed a lot of information into this session. We went through each room that I wanted help with and he told me what changes he would recommend in each room. He is very knowledgeable and professional. He is a good listener and generous with his time. He is friendly and polite, but be prepared for him to be blunt if your home is dated or has design issues; he won't hesitate to tell you that almost everything in a room has to go if that's the way he sees it. I appreciated the honesty and directness. I'm thinking about using his services after the holidays but he was not pushy at all; he made it clear that his goal was to provide value in the two hour session and there was no pressure at all to contact him again.

It lasted a few weeks you know it consisted of acquiring a lot of pieces of things to put in the home and rugs and different things so it was about a thirty day project off and on.

Christian went beyond our expectations. He is opinionated and blunt which I truly appreciated. If I didn't want to hear his thoughts - why hire him in the first place? He helped with literally everything - telling us exactly what kind of marble to replace our tiles with, what color to change the carpet to, what color and type of paint to use for each section of the house, showed us pictures of furniture and décor ideas, recommended how to give our kitchen an updated touch, etc. He took the time in every room and every corner of the house to provide his ideas, show us pictures, and offer tips on how to save money while doing everything. Overall, we liked every one of his ideas as they were completely aligned with our vision. Right now, my husband and I are working through the details of what exactly we NEED at the moment to upgrade and renovate and what we can push back. But we will be starting the renovation soon and depending on what we decide, we also do have the option of doing everything through Chris Allan as he quoted a quite reasonable price for the entire thing - considering both my husband and I are extremely busy and convenience is probably our top priority. I would recommend Chris Allan 100% to everyone. He knows what he's doing and he's definitely a great character!

It went incredibly well .I feel like I am in a new home! I;couldn't have asked for more. He was there to help for every stage of the way Chris is an expert designer. I had met him earlier through Angie's list Big Deal;for a 2 hour conference. I was impressed with his knowledge of the art of design He said that he could make our a home more peaceful through color and placement of tables and beds to make it more open and comfortable. The color on the walls is a subtle green that looks different during the day at various times but always peaceful and uncluttered. He also helped me with my folk art collection , arranging the textiles, sculptures and wooden masks in attractive ways. He even help me sort through and arrange the closets.It became clear to me that I had too much"stuff"and that meant clearing out and donating things I couldn't use. This job changed my life. I have a feeling of joy with my house now. I even like cleaning up years of disarray in other parts of the house and garage. There is much more light in our home, green LED,and an open feeling with the foliage in the yard and house. Also if anyone caused a problem during the project, he was there to clear it up. This was rarely necessary. My neighbors and friends have given this job the highest praise.The painting and beautiful carpeting and stone tile fireplace and furniture were noticed the most.Even my husband, who was too busy with work of his own to help much, was happy. And, amazingly, it came in record time and under budget! And we have a new friend to recommend.

I originally purchased a two-hour design session to see how well our tastes aligned. Christian was a very good listener and explained how he would work with us if we hired him. His business model is very fair and I felt we received good value. He stayed in contact through the entire project to assure we were satisfied. Even in small details such as ordering the couch to be comfortable for a taller family, was very thoughtful and a nice touch. I appreciated the attentive service at each step in the process, and the project was completed in a timely manner at the agreed budget. Christian is respectful of our desire to have nicely designed areas even though it is an ordinary house and not a large project, I felt he really worked with us and understood the budget limitations. I look forward to working with him again in the future.

Chris gave us advice regarding paint colors, window treatments, furniture placement, door hardware, etc, prior to moving into our new home. He was very friendly and professional. Wish we could afford to do everything he recommended!

This guy is great! Over the years, we've tried designers and the best we would ever get was "well, what would YOU like?" Well, I already HAVE what I thought was good ( it's not); I need a designer to give me some ideas. Anyway, we decided to give it another try. Chris walked in the house and started telling us what we should change to achieve the look we told him we would like ("make it look like a HGTV house"). Wonderful advice, honest and to the point with no excuses. This the guy to hire if you want help with your interior design!

All walls and extensive trim painted in coordinated and calming colors; original hardwood floors refinished throughout; lighting upgrades and ceiling fans throughout; TV wall mounted and system converted to wireless operation; partial wall removal; doorway walled in; refurbished fireplace and hearth; new curtains, drapes, shades in two rooms: new furnishings in living room, den, bedroom. Christian paid attention to all the details in both the design and the work. The most important thing Christian accomplished was helping me de-clutter before the project started. This project was far smother than I expected, and I could not be more satisfied.

Chris was terrific! I have a modest home and not much design sense, not something I would expect a designer to appreciate, but Chris attended to my home and my questions as if he were designing for a multimillion dollar estate. He made me feel so comfortable and at ease with decisions to be made both now and in the future. And in the future when I go to tackle some of the more complicated projects in my home, I know exactly who I will call: Chris Alan Design!
