Description of Work: This was supposed to be a clean & inspect of one line but when it turned difficult the tech only wanted to leave. He was supposed to send me an estimate for further repairs but I never heard from him again. I have used this company before for alot of work so I believe it was just the circumstances of this job that affected what was/was not accomplished.

Great
Description of Work: I paid to have two lines plumbed, and that was done well. While discussing the work, I asked to have additional work done and that was easily added for a reasonable price, and the plumber did a great job of fixing the "home-owner" special that the previous owner had done. The plumber also spent time with me helping me with questions about my rentals' old fixtures. The service man was very nice, very accomodating, very helpful, and most importantly very professional. I will use this company again.

Excellent!
Description of Work: Michael, from, Absolute Heating and Air Conditioning, showed up, right on time. He was extremely professional. He quickly discovered what the reason was that my A/C would not come on. A Potato Bug got smashed, between the contacts, on the switch. I provided Michael with a used Toothbrush and the problem was resolved. He really paid attention to what he was doing. He made me feel very comfortable and was very methodical, in following steps to determine the problem. He explained everything he was doing. He gave me great confindence, in his ability, to resolve the problem. I definitley would use this company again. They strike me as being a very honest and caring company. I also appreciate the Veteran Discount Michael gave me. Ralph Wilson

Description of Work: Brinks Services, Inc. and/or Brinks Investigation-Restoration Services, Inc., lined the plumbing pipes, hot and cold, of our apartment complex in 2007. The lining carries a 10 yr. warrenty. We then called on them in April 2012 to replace water heaters at the same location. They finished the job late afternoon on April 12th and turned the water back on. That evening a leak occurred and flooded 7 units. Brinks came out, repaired the hot water pipe line and started the restoration project. All of the flooring, cabinets and some of the drywall had to be replaced. Our insurance company was called on to handle the problem. Nothing but problems from then on - tenants told they would be out approx. 2 weeks, they were out 6 weeks. Lack of communication throughout the job, at times no English speaking workers on jobsite, no supervisor to direct them. Did not receive invoices, statements showing payments, trouble with Brinks communicating with insurance company and when job was finished, last item repaired on July 17th, our final bill was not received till August 17th and was not even correct. Did not show proper amounts of checks that had already been paid to them and did not list a payment of $6400 that was paid first part of July. Mr. Brink had mentioned giving tenants $175 for inconviences they went through but because we handled carpet and vinyl replacement, he stated he didn't make the overhead that would have been charged to the insurance company so tenants did not receive anything from Brinks. At our final meeting and final payment for services rendered, Mr. Brink handed us a bill for $1400 that he said we owed him since he had opted to file a mechanics lien on us while the job was going on. He said that he would tear the $1400 bill up if we wrote a letter stating that we did have problems but all had been worked out. When he received this letter, he would tear up the bill for the $1400. We did not write the letter or pay this bill. We also received a call last, approx Sept 12th, from one of the subcontractors on the job, that he was still waiting for his final payment. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR!

Response from Brinks Investigation-Restoration Services Inc
Brinks provided honest service to the Customer on her aging Louisiana Street Apts; Brinks successfully sealed the leaking piping system back in 2007, replaced the 2 aging commercial hot water heaters and pulled permits on the installation. Unfortunately, the evening of April 12th, 2012 a pipe embedded in concrete and corroded from the concrete burst, flooding 7+ units completely. Brinks Emergency Services Division lead by Kris Ucker responded immediately, the team worked thru the night to mop up the water and attempted salvaging the tenant’s property. The onsite manager John had praises for the Flood Teams efforts. Kris Ucker obtained the necessary information from John and the owner Katherine and advised the Customer open an insurance claim. The Customer’s insurance company took some time assigning the claim to an independent adjuster who was not willing to write his own estimate, again, time lost. The manager John and the Customer gave Kris the go ahead to start restoration; however, the Customer wanted a meeting with Bill Brink. At the meeting the Customer complained she had to pay for the tenants to stay in a hotel while the restoration took place and asked Bill to pay this amount of $175.00 per tenant for 1 week. Bill was puzzled as insurance usually pays for this item, however, Bill wanted to accommodate the Customer and agreed that IF Brinks were to perform all of the restoration he would consider paying for this item, however, Bill cautioned the Customer that if she elected to have the carpet, tile, and vinyl performed by herself then he could not pay this item and reminded her that usually insurance pays for this. The Customer left the meeting agreeing to have Brinks perform 100% of the work, however, a week later it was discovered that the Customer had contracted directly with a Brinks vendor to perform these items and pocket the monetary difference in the insurance allowance. Bill called the Customer and inquired about this, ending the conversation with a reiteration that Brinks would not pay this item due to the Customer’s changed position. At the beginning of the restoration process mold and asbestos was discovered, thus, an additional step had to be performed which was the remediation protocol of both, thereby, adding 2 weeks to the restoration time line plus a 3rd week for testing results. At this point Brinks had not been paid anything and the owner was taking a vacation and would not provide a progress payment, yet insisted Brinks continue to restore the property until she came back and had a chance to talk with the insurance company. Kris was in contact with the insurance company and discovered a check had been available to the Customer for several days and was advised so by the insurance adjuster. The Customer was additionally advised by Brinks, however, refused to tender the check and left on her vacation without paying anything. Weeks later Brinks is still funding this project out of pocket and making good progress when the Customer returns only to delay payment another 2-1/2 weeks which slowed down Brinks progress. The Customer threatens a lawsuit if progress stops and threatens withholding of insurance progress payments; therefore, Brinks had to protect its interest and filed a lien on the property until payments were made. Brinks continues with restoration and continued w/o sufficient progress payments. The above scenario was repeated with delays in payments to Brinks. After, the property was restored there were no less than 3 walk thru’ s and punch lists, all were completed by Brinks with satisfactory sign offs including additional work not in the contract. Brinks had a final meeting with the Customer and per industry standard a lien release had to be paid for and Bill asked the Customer if everything was performed satisfactorily and she said "in the end the work was finished to her satisfaction", however, she was not going to pay for a lien release nor pay for the extra work performed that was not in the contract. Bill was looking for a resolution to a "Stale Mate" and asked the Customer if she would write a letter stating the fact, that in the end the work was finished to her satisfaction and include both the good and bad things that occurred and Bill would waive the lien fees, the Customer's husband agreed. Bill said he would take him at his word regarding the letter and waived both the lien release fees and went a little further by waiving the extra work performed outside of the contract. With a pleasant surprise --Everyone agreed things were settled. The fees were waived, the letter never arrived, instead a complaint w/Angies List. Brinks dealt with Katherine in an honest and ethical manner under some very trying circumstances.

Description of Work: They snaked the drain and used a camera to see if there was any issue in the pipes. They were very professional and helpful and went beyond what I thought they would do for the $75 Angie's list deal. They recommended what we should do going forward to prevent future issues, and gave us a quote for it, although we haven't moved forward with that yet.

Description of Work: We took advantage of the Angie's Big Deal for Whole House Plumbing Inspection. The serviceman, Manuel, was very thorough, went through the whole house and explained everything he did. Their receptionist, Theresa, was pleasant, efficient and fun to talk to. Manuel said that he thought we needed 6 angle stops replaced and explained why. We have appliance insurance which will cover much of the cost at a significantly smaller cost than without such coverage. That is the only reason we are not having Brinks do it. They can be reached at 619-283-9647 or 760-740-0043.

Description of Work: I had purchased a big deal. I have a toilet that keeps running. I spoke with a representative, who sent a man out to do the work. The man came out and tried to do the work for us by doing a small adjustment. After assessing the situation he explained that he would have to come back and do more work. They are allowing me to use the deal past the service date.
