Description of Work: Boyer's refaced my kitchen, powder room, and garage entry cabinets. The installers arrived on time, were very eager to please, readily made a couple of minor changes when asked. They were able to get to the project earlier than anticipated, but this will depend on how quickly the owner makes their choices. I have had a couple drawers that have started sticking in the warm weather, and I called Boyer's. They promptly made arrangements for someone to come out and adjust the drawers. That appointment is later this week. The kitchen looks great!

They did a very nice job on the cabinets. I would use the company for that. I was not happy with the installation of the countertop. The sales lady said that since I needed to purchase two slabs, I would have material left over. The installers said I did not have any left over. Despite making templates, the installers cut one of the countertop pieces too small and had to fill in with epoxy. Also, despite the fact that I had purchased the sink and the faucets, per their instructions, the faucet did not fit in the space they allowed. I had to purchase another faucet set and sell the first on Ebay at a loss. I would recommend Boyars for cabinets (an A), but not for countertops (C). I averaged a B for the overall job.

Our experience with Boyar's was fantastic. From the very beginning, every single person with whom we were in contact obviously cared about our needs, respected our time, and wanted us to be happy with the results of our project. We contracted to have our kitchen refaced with three new cabinets, to reface two bathrooms, to reface a small entertainment center, and to build a small custom office. Our representative was Melissa and she was AMAZING. We learned during our first meeting with her that in addition to being very talented in kitchen design, she is also a licensed general contractor. She was able to advise us on the removal of a wall that we were VERY happy to see go, as well as to provide a qualified, licensed contractor to remove it for us. Melissa made amazing suggestions with regard to color, style, and accessories and very obviously knew what she was doing. We truly do not believe we would be anywhere near as happy as we are if it were not for her help. Additionally, even though the employees in the office were helpful in getting the project done, Melissa was available to answer our questions throughout the course of the project... a far cry from the guy who sold us flooring last year and then we never heard from him again! Tony was our installer and his attention to detail was very impressive. He clearly cared very much that the final project turned out to be a masterpiece. He even made the suggestion that we add a piece of molding to one part of our kitchen to finish off an awkward area. He was obviously not just there to get it done and get paid. It has been more than a year since we did our kitchen project and it still looks amazing. The finish is durable (we use our kitchen A LOT so we would know!) and the workmanship is just great. NO ONE has any idea that our cabinets have been refaced... the work is that convincing. We will be calling Melissa back soon to complete another project in one of our rental properties and would not hesitate to recommend Boyar's to anyone considering a cabinet and countertop project.

FIRST PARAGRAPH IS SOME HISTORY SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SKIP! I have a larger (but not huge) kitchen in a 1980 built house we moved into in 1987. Except for new appliances from time to time nothing had been changed since it was built ( if you're keeping track 25-26 years). A few years ago we had an independant designer who was widely recommended design a complete remodel of our kitchen. She was actually very good and I've since used her for smaller projects. However, when we got some bids on the remodel we were so shocked by the ticket prices (without appliances-very close to six figures) that we just decided we could not go forward. Plus, although we understood that a 3-5 month construction time was fairly standard it would have been very inconvenient---in addition to the personal inconvenience of always eating out or microwaved food, we had an older golden retriever who basically had indoor/outdoor access at all times which clearly would not be available during construction. So we got some stuff done one thing at a time and got rid of our worst annoyances and basically forgot about remodeling. For example, we got rid of the ugly dropped florescent light ceiling in the kitchen which was typical of the era the house was built and also got rid of the "popcorn" ceilings in the rest of the house which, although unrelated to kitchen, we've disliked for years. STUFF ABOUT BOYAR'S We were referred by friends after visiting them and admiring their seemingly new kitchen. They told us about Boyar's, what they had had done and how much it had cost. My friend is a constant and excellent cook with kids and grandkids and a husband she enjoys cooking for. So when she told me the cabinets were much more convenient than her old ones I took her seriously. The process was smooth and professional. I researched Boyar's and other cabinet refaceers on Angies list and made an appointment with Boyar's and one other local company with very good reviews. I met with both designers in my home and the process went back and forth with both companies for awhile interrupted by the Christmas holidays. We visited both showrooms a couple of times. Both companies seemed very professional with a good product. And both prices were were very close. What it came down to was that Boyar's was more complete. The difference was they provided all the cabinet work and counter work , AND THE TILE and tile installation as well as standard tile designs to choose from. The other company did everything but the tile and it was just a lot easier for me to have everything done at the same time by the same company. OK There were still lots of choices for the owner to make. One glitch was that the first quartz counter top I chose was not available and the second was also not available. Apparently there was some production problem with that quartz manufacturer and they had reluctantly informed their customers it would be some time before it was fixed. My husband and I went to showroom to pick out new quartz pattern from one of the other vendors Boyar's uses and after looking at almost every sample in the store, and afraid we would have to "settle" for something we didn't like as much, we found a perfect one which I liked even better than the two originally chosen. It was somewhat more expensive than the other quartz company but Boyar's charged me the original quote because of the glitch. Construction started later than I had originally planned due to scheduling on both sides but once it was scheduled things happened quickly. As I recall before final scheduling they send a production person who measures everything very closely. Then the designer brings over a sample door in the design, color and wood of your choice for final approval. Next they order in-house construction of doors and drawers and order your counter top material which they will cut on site during construction. They also require that if you are purchasing a new sink that it be on site along with any new faucet so that it will fit exactly and holes are cut appropriately. Boyar's said it would take about a week and a half, at most two weeks, and they were completely finished about a week and a half after they began. It took me much longer to clean everything out of the cabinets and kitchen than it did for Boyar's to start and complete construction. They send out separate teams for demolition, for cabinet work, for countertop and sink work, and finally for the tile work. All their teams were polite, efficient, and they each cleaned up each day. The designer I worked with, Bill Villa, was creative, always returned phone calls, came over to our house several times, and met me at showroom by appointment. I have to say that he was also very patient with me. I dislike being faced with a huge number of similar items to choose from--hence the quartz angst. I know nothing about interior design and tend to be fairly conservative. Unfortunately, left to myself, walls will be white and carpets beige. I Iove other and bolder looks but I'm not confident about making such decisions. I told Bill that what I liked best could probably be described as some combination of craftsman design, Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn. I ended up with a kitchen I love which looks new at an affordable price. My husband and I also really liked the Boyar's, in writing, lifetime guarantee as long as you live in the house.
Description of Work: Complete refacing of all kitchen and pantry cabinets on outside, all new wood drawers and doors with "soft" returns, and "swing out" lower drawers for heavy pots and pans which are strongly supported on both sides. The pantry drawers all roll out for easy view and access. Boyar's also provided a quartz countertop and all of the tile work necessary on the walls above the sink and counter. As one of their standard tile design choices they incorporated diamond shaped pieces of the quartz I had chosen for the counter into the tile work. Lovely idea. Opps, I just forgot one of the main "change" items. The Boyar's designer we worked with, Bill Villa, convinced us that the long cabinet overhanging the long counter on the side of the kitchen facing the dining room had to go and that we would have more than enough storage without it with the new and much more useful pantry pullout drawers. He was correct. It was very surprising to us both how much it opened up the dining/living area. In addition when the long cabinet was demolished it left an empty space above the counter on the facing side. Boyar's took down that two door upper cabinet which was now too short and constructed a new three door cabinet which looked beautiful and lined up perfectly with our counter.

After meeting with numerous companies to complete our project, we chose Boyar's to complete the work. We could not be more pleased with our decision. After having worked with many contractors on this home and past homes, there were some definite things that stood out for us. They are: - The designer/sales consultant, Julie, showed up on-time and was cheerful, professional, and knowledgable. She spent almost three hours with us during the first appointment, despite the fact that we told her we were still getting estimates and were not ready to make a decision. She really knew her stuff. In fact, had it not been for her we would have made some crucial errors with regard to design choices, simply because we didn't know what we didn't know. She helped us again at the granite slab yard and yet again with our flooring. She was an integral part in the creation of a project that isn't just "okay," but has a major WOW factor. Our neighbors and friends are amazed and a couple of them will be calling Julie for help with their own projects. - Boyar's was not the cheapest company that quoted our project, but the prices were VERY competitive considering the high quality of materials. The least expensive bid we received was about 10% less and it was obviously nowhere near as high-quality of wood and finish. We feel like we got a great deal. - We were told that it would be 7-8 weeks before our project would install. Boyar's was able to schedule us 6 weeks out. Under promise, over deliver... a concept that seems to have been lost on many companies these days. Further, we were told the project would take a full two weeks and they were finished two days early. - The installers, Hector and Humberto, were absolutely amazing. With all of the work we have done in our house, these guys were the best we have had yet. They were courteous, tidy, arrived when they said they would, and did what they said they would do. We felt comfortable leaving them in our home even when we were gone for several hours. - The office staff was extremely helpful. The scheduling department sent us a detailed email prior to the start of our installation, letting us know exactly what would happen and on what day. We had to call with questions a couple of times and they were answered immediately. Everyone in the office, from the receptionist to the office manager, was helpful and obviously cared about our needs. Overall, we are extremely pleased with this project and would not hesitate to recommend Boyar's to ANY of our friends, neighbors, and relatives. We feel like we lucked out finding them. We also have a couple more cabinet projects that we are looking forward to completing with them. If you are looking for a company to do any sort of cabinet or countertop work in your home, just stop looking... this is your company.

The quality of the work was very good . Installers were professional and did good work. Every thing was scheduled and on time UNTIL there was a problem. The stove is a slide in and when they measured for the counter they did not allow for a piece of granite between the stove and the backsplash. Was a 2 1/2 inch gap. The granite wads installed on Fri but the stove was not replaced to allow for the tile backsplash. When that was completed the next week we noticed the problem and we notified Boyars immediately. The left over granite had be destroyed but we were told they would fix it when they had an opening. That never happened! I finally was able to reach the owner who promised to look into the issue. We were given a date to finish the job, a supporting board was installed but when the date for the granite installation came .....never heard from them. By this time we had spoken with the installed and knew he did not have the granite but Boyars never called back. Again, got a promise from the owner he'd find a piece and fix it. That never happened. 3 months later, we found a piece that was close and had to pay $50 for it. They did install the piece and wanted us to pay an additional $300. We said no. it was their mistake in the first place and they should reimburse us for the additional cost. Again, that never happened Also, our daughter had Boyars do her kitchen...they did nice work, it went smoothly for her. She was told if she referred anyone she'd get a $200 finders fee....that never happened! So as long as no unexpected problems pop up....they do good work.

Thank you for your review. It appears your project was performed during a brief change in management. I apologize for the issues you experienced! I know a few years have passed, but I still wanted to reach out. (Until recently this site had not been updated by our company.) I am seeing a few clients that have similar experiences in this time frame (hence the change being brief). I just wanted to make sure you were ultimately taken care of. In addition, I would still like to honor the finder's fee. Please do not hesitate to contact me to resolve. I hope we will have the opportunity to make things right. Thanks so much. After seeing a commercial about Angies List on TV I decided to post a review because Boyars was that good. Ive had multiple projects done throughout my home and Ive never had such a pleasant experience like I did with Boyars. I had four companies come out to give me an estimate. Most of the companies were similar in cost. Boyars was in the middle. From the moment they stepped in, they were different. I felt as the other companies spent their time telling me what I needed or what I needed to worry about from everybody else. The lady that came out from Boyar's listened but also had ideas and spent time to really help me pick out exactly what I wanted. My installation couldn't have gone any smoother. The office communicated the schedule, in writing yet, and they arrived on time each and every day. My installer Humberto was a true craftsman. He was meticulous, well-spoken and accommodating. I have two small dogs that I let free after the first day. He always made sure to shut the door and look for them when working with anything that could impose danger. You could tell he took pride in his work. Not just a WORKER. My granite counters are gorgeous! My designer actually went to the slab yard to help me pick out my granite. My projects been done for about three weeks and I can't stay out of my kitchen. I had horrible cabinets with ugly white tile counters. I can't even tell my old cabinets are under there. I didn't like that the other companies were using such a thick material that you could actually see the refacing. One company even talked about Boyars specifically in a negative manner. Id have to guess now because they are such a professional company that the other guys are worried. I received my lifetime warranty in the mail shortly after my project was complete. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased and encourage anyone looking for a hassle-free makeover to definitely try Boyars.
Description of Work: I had my kitchen and two bathrooms refaced. Also new granite countertops with tile backsplash. Had brand new drawers (dovetailed, self closing) and pullouts installed. Chose Alder cabinets.

The person who first took my call was professional and immediately set up a consultation with the designer (Julie). Julie was wonderful. She had a lot of experience and was very professional. The price seemed to be very good; however, my contractor had recommended another company and I decided to go with them instead of Boyars.

The phone conversation to make an appointment for an estimate was terrible. I would say to the owner or manager of this company to hire a new secretary. They will lose a lot of business if this Lady keeps answering the phone. There was ZERO customer service!
Description of Work: I called this company with high hopes that they could install some new cabinets to match my existing cabinets and perhaps if they did a good job on cabinets I would ask them later to install some new granite counter tops in my bathroom and laundry room. The Lady that I spoke with on the phone was extremely pretentious. And that is an understatement. However I continued with the phone conversation because I am desperate to get some new cabinet space in my home. So I decided to make an appointment for an estimate. The lady I spoke to then proceeded to tell me that they require a minimum of $1500 order. I agreed and made an appointment for them to come by. She then told me that I must schedule an hour and a half appointment with them. I told her that I did not have an hour and a half but that I would be willing to spend 30 minutes for an estimate. She told me she would only make an appointment for 1&1/2 Hours so I canceled the appointment. And I will never call them back nor would I recommend them to anyone else. If they cannot be friendly on the phone I have no desire to do business with them.

their designer, who first comes to the house to give you a quote, was very good, creative and professional, in fact she was the best part + the reason we went with them. then it took 6 week to installation, nobody called to confirm, they just showed up on Monday morning. The installers were not very customerfriendy, barely spoke English, and did not provide any information as to how the process would work. But they did cover everything and left the job clean every night. They did not finish as promised on Friday, but left at 2pm without an explanation and we did not have a kitchen over the weekend. After heavy complaining to the office they finished late on the next Monday. However, no final walk through was done, nobody checked the quality of the job. They had to come back to fix a few things. 4 of the cabinet doors were with a glass insert, those doors were scratched, which we complaint about. new doors were ordered after someone came out and deemed those to be bad. The new set of doors that came 6 weeks later did not look any better, but were still installed, obviously without any quality check at the shop. So the process started again, they finally fixed it, but still the doors were installed upside down, which we did not complain about because it's minor and we were sick of the whole thing. In the end everything was taken care of, but it took a long time. I was most dissapointed about no final walk-through. quality is ok, not great. I still would use them again because I know what to expect and how to deal with it.

Everytime this company came they left a horrible mess. They smoked in my kitchen, ate fast food and left all of the wrappers. After many complaints they finally came back and corrected the work. Now, the doors are sagging and there is a screw missing from every hinge. They provided us with a quick fix, but not a lasting durable fix.
Description of Work: We contacted this company to have the kitchen cubbards resurfaced, a couple of drawers replaced. After they "supposedly" finished the work the lamination didn't look right, cubards installed crooked and drawers would not close properly. We had ordered glass for the cubbards and they did not order the proper cubbards. They said we would have to take them anyway.

Thank you for your review. First I know this response is 7 years later, but only until today has this site been updated by our company. Obviously, extensive time has passed but I still wanted to reach out. Under no circumstances does this sound consistent with our installation teams. The quality of the materials and workmanship were exceptional. Everything is gorgeous! Several areas that required some fine-tuning were remedied quickly and without question. The only issues we had were with the workers (especially the subs from the counter company) showing up very far outside of the specified appointment window. There did not appear to be good communication between Boyars and the counter company with respect to the appointment times. Given all of this, I would still use their services again in the future.

I called around and their price was right in the middle but their quality was excellent. The materials were high quality. They were here everyday and early. Very punctual. They would always call before they came. They were extremely professional. They were clean and explained the process. Very knowledgeable about the product. They came in and laid paper and plastic so none of the floors would be damaged. They sealed off portions of the home to prevent dust to flow through out the home. They were very quiet and courteous and helpful.
