Boyars Kitchen Cabinets

Here's our experience with Boyars: - We were promised something, but delivered something different (i.e. said job would take 3-5 days, but ours took 5 WEEKS; we were misled about the actual install process; we were told it would take 4-6 weeks for samples to arrive but it took 10+ weeks; when job started they were missing materials, shoddy workmanship resulting in repairs (photos to prove); the thermofoil shows dark/black seams that only the fine print in the contract informed us about) - very little communication from Boyar's after collecting half of the money upfront. We had to constantly remind our sales person to check on the status of samples and call in to ask about start date. Often times we were told by numerous reps ''that's not my job'' related to product delays or scheduling snafus. There was no ownership or communication of how things were going. There was lack of communication within Boyar's from the scheduler to the measurement crew, from the installers, to the salesperson. We had to keep reminding each party of what it was we had ordered. None of them either remembered or had a clear view of the order we placed. This was very concerning, and ultimately our job suffered because of insufficient communication within the Boyars team. Their payment schedule results in 90% of the fees due prior to completion of the job. This was very concerning considering all the issues we encountered. We had very little recourse and were at the mercy of the unreliable company with reps all telling us issues ‘’isn’t my job”. After this poor experience, I spoke with the owner and gave feedback about my experience. She acknowledged that the errors shouldn't have happened and offered to credit me ~1% of the total bill. This does not sufficiently compensate us for the headache and broken promises suffered by this company. I would not recommend this company to family/friends. Happy to share our experience with anyone, since we have a trail of communications and photo evidence to support.

Excellent. We couldn’t be more satisfied. Best service from beginning through to the end. From the customer service, attentiveness, help, care, quality, kindness of all we came into contact. Would definitely recommend and use them again. It is hard to find customer service like this and we are grateful to have found Boyars.

The entire process exceeded our expectations! First, the communication from Boyar's was on point. Throughout the process we knew what to expect, when it would occur and who was coming to our home to perform the services. COVID 19 precautions were strictly followed and everyone from the front line workers to the office personnel were very efficient, friendly and responsive. Jerry, the cabinet guy was outstanding! He was very punctual, which is a personal pet peeve of mine so I appreciated his promptness. Additionally, he was meticulous and an extremely hard worker. I would ask him daily don't you ever take a lunch? He would reply, "yeah, I ate while I was working". While not required I appreciated him moving the project along as our anticipation grew each day. He always put up protective plastic to minimize debris traveling through our home and cleaned his work space at the end of each day. As our daily anticipation grew seeing the final product was a WOW! As noted earlier, the final product exceeded our expectations. It went fine until one of the doors came apart. It took me 8 months to get it replaced. Got the run around for several months from an inept employee that was eventually fired. They have big problems keeping installers and making service schedules. My door was finally installed today two hours later than the schedule. Am getting ready to do my laundry room and certainly not call Boyer's under any circumstances.

Thank you Boyer's. We highly recommend them. Everything went just as promised. Our cabinets were well made and only needed updating with the least amount of down time. After looking at 2 other companies, we called Boyer's and Stacey came out and presented exactly what we needed, new drawers, doors and updating. Stacey walked us thru new ideas and upgrading with 21st century add on extras. Soft close doors & drawers. Pull out drawers in cabinets. And adding new doors to shelving. Our installers were Hector & Hector. They were extremely nice to have around and very artistic with their installation. They cleaned up every night, we could even eat in the kitchen. We are very pleased with the whole job. Everything was on time and just what we hoped for. And at the price we were quoted, which was less than the other 2 companies. We set out on a mission to reface our cabinets in a 17 year-old kitchen. Received three bids, and ended up choosing Boyar's. The complete experience, start to finish, couldn't have been better. Bill, our sales consultant, gave us clear options, and once we were ready to narrow down our selections and sign on the dotted line, we went into the showroom and viewed exactly what we were to have installed. Tony, our installer was terrific! He was very meticulous, and his attention to detail exceeded expectations. He installed molding where we did not have it previously, which really added a great finishing touch. The job wound up taking six days (full week, plus the following Monday). Absolutely no regrets and would highly recommend Boyar's to anyone considering a kitchen cabinet remodel.

I am very happy with the process and the workmanship performed on refacing and new countertop. When I told Boyars I was flying to San Diego to inspect the work, they stayed late to finish the work on time so I could review. Laura was great with keeping me informed throughout the process. I will most likely use them again in the future. I'd recommend them to others.

We just had our kitchen remodeled and were pleasantly surprised how well the job was done by the cabinet installer and the demolition process. This is because there were people that were very professional and were anxious to make sure are needs were met. We would like to give a special commendation to Jeff Hughes who was an outstanding employee and did a fantastic job installing all the cabinets and made sure the plumbers, electrician, and other people working on the project were coordinated. Boyars is lucky to have such a friendly and efficient employee. Also Laura Kooncz did a great job letting us know when people would be arriving and provided assistance for any problems. Her coordination of the project is to be commended. We are very happy that we selected Boyars as they were not only professional but the job was completed in 8 1/2 days. Ginny and Lee Sharp

The guy showed up as scheduled. He measured everything but when we got to cost it went down hill. He said since it was the end of the month he would give me an additional $500 off if I signed today. He mentioned it would help his commission check for the month. Just very unprofessional all the way around. Wouldn't stop moving around, didn't have a copy of their lifetime warranty. When I emailed the company while he was there asking for a copy, the copy was sent to him. Bottom line the warranty is good for a year NOT lifetime. And they aren't the oldest refacing company in San Diego. Check the liscense numbers...

We interviewed four remodeling companies. We got the best overall impression from our designer John from Boyar's. We also know two other couples who had their kitchens remodeled by Boyar's and were happy with them. When John told us our remodel would only take two weeks I was skeptical. I'd heard too many stories about companies starting a job and then disappearing for several days or longer with no notice. Boyar's has kitchen remodeling down to a science. Every day a specific task was completed, from removing the old appliances to demo-ing the old counter tops to resurfacing the old cabinets and installing all new drawers and doors. Every evening when they left our kitchen was clean and neat. We experienced very little dust or disruption of our lives, which was especially important since I work at home. In only two weeks, ten working days, our new kitchen was completed. Boyar's was extremely professional in every stage of the remodeling and everyone we dealt with in person or talked to on the phone was great. We could not be happier with our new kitchen or with our experience with Boyar's.

Project started and completed exactly as committed. Worker were extremely knowledgeable and profession and handled every detail as it if were their own home they were working on. They even did some things that were not part of the contract but were important to us. This is one of the best experiences with these type of projects. As an additional nicety, the house was left clean and tidy after each visit.........even after sanding all day.

After getting quotes from two other companies who had to give me a 2-hour spiel before they would even give me a cost estimate, I asked Melissa to save us both some time by giving me a ballpark number. She agreed and after 10 min of measuring, she gave me a range which I felt I could work with and was willing to hear more. The meeting was professional, seemed honest and lasted less than an hour. I felt confident in the company and years of experience each person had in his/her role. No gimmicks, no false promises. The demo/refacing began a week before projected (how often does THAT happen!) and was expected to take 5 full days. It ended up taking 4 full days and 2 half days and both Laura and Tony were quick to communicate any changes or needs. I can't say enough positives about the work that our installer, Tony, did. He is meticulous and thorough; he even "corrected" issues that were created when the original cabinets were built (eg. non-squared cabinets, gaps). I was able to continue using my kitchen and the mess was minimal. I felt comfortable with them being in my home while I was at work. The final result is beautiful and the overall quality actually exceeded my expectations.

We met with Boyar's late in 2016 when we started thinking about refacing our kitchen cabinets. The pricing was reasonable to reface the cabinets, replace the countertops and install a tile backsplash. Our designer Danny was helpful with all our selections, advising us both on style and budget. The actual work in the kitchen took 6 days over 1.5 weeks. Our kitchen is pretty small, still, it was a lot of work. They had specific people working in different areas, which was nice because everyone is knowledgeable in their own areas. Laura and Kayla were always accommodating when I called multiple times to clarify. I also had to work and left them the key/waited till they came in, and they worked independently with no problems, always cleaning up before leaving for the day, and doing the work as promised. Everyone turned up punctually, especially if we were the first stop for the day. This was really important to me on the days that I had to work. Now that the work is finally complete, I am quite happy with how it turned out. The work they did was something we could not have done ourselves. The tile backsplash is beautiful and we are happy with how the kitchen turned out.

We decided to use Boyar's Kitchens & Cabinets to upgrade our kitchen by having our cabinets re-faced instead of having all new cabinets made and having new countertops and backsplashes installed by them, as well. The first part of the upgrade was completed today and we have nothing but raves for the company and, in particular, our cabinet installer, Jerry. From our original contact, Design Representative, Julie Ullery, to Project Coordinator Laura Koonce,to the guys who did the kitchen demo, to Jerry, we could not have been treated any better. On Monday, the project continues with the installation of countertops and backsplashes and I'm sure it will go as smoothly as the first week. Boyar's is a top-notch company and, so far, we'd recommend them to anyone, including our friends and neighbors. Our kitchen was completed on Tuesday (2/21/2017) and we are very satisfied with the final result. And, we are very glad we chose Boyar's to do this job. We'd have been hard pressed to find a better company! Thanks to them, we have a beautiful, upgraded kitchen.

It went exactly as promised and looks amazing!!! Melissa and all of the staff and installation crew were a pleasure to have working in our home.

The process went quite well. The workers were respectful, punctual, and knowledgeable. Not only did they reface the caninets, they also built new ones. They were careful to clean up each day. Melissa (sales and design) shared good ideas and advice guiding us along the way in our decisions. Amazingly, most of the work was completed in 3 weeks. We are thrilled with our new cabinets and countertops!

It went very well. The work was done on time and is high quality. The new kitchen looks fantastic! The designer we worked with, Melissa Perez, was extremely responsive and very helpful. Even a few months after the work was completed, when I needed a touchup pen, Boyar's got one out to me immediately, free of charge. And Melissa continued to answer any questions I had right away long after the work was done. I would highly recommend Boyar's to anyone thinking of remodeling their kitchen.

I love my new, resurfaced kitchen done by Boyar's! I am very happy with the appearance and quality of the cabinets. All work was completed as had been specified in a very timely manner. All of the workmen representing Boyar's were professional and reliable. My kitchen resurfacing project went very smoothly and on schedule. Melissa at Boyar's also provided me with some very helpful design ideas. I would highly recommend Boyar's for your kitchen resurfacing needs.

My wife and and could not be more delighted with the work Boyar's performed on our home. Their team are meticulous, highly skilled craftsman and left no detail undone. The workmanship and outcome was terrific. The cabinet door hinges and drawer slides exceeded our expectation and the cabinet finish is flawless. Additionally, the craftsmen were true gentlemen and were a genuine pleasure to have in our home. We are glad we made the decision to utilize Boyar's for this work.

After a water leak that damaged one bank of lower cabinets in our kitchen , we went to Boyar's to see if they could repair the damaged cabinet to match the other in our kitchen. Boyar's had refaced our kitchen cabinets in 2011, and we were very happy with our new kitchen. So when we went back to see if they could with the repair, their CEO manager Henry came out of his office to see what he could do and together with the production manager, found a matching veneer in the shop and scheduled the job for a week later. We are thrilled with the result. We were facing a much bigger repair if they had not been able to match the existing veneer. Casey, the installer, was pleasant, cared about protecting our floors and was very precise in the installation. He did a beautiful job and we are grateful. Thank You Boyar's for helping to make what was a stressful time a pleasant experience.

The experience overall was excellent. We were helped in selection of the color and wood for the cabinets, the granite, and the other aspects of the design. The installers were fantastic, and finished when they said they would, with the exception of a delay caused by having to wait until the appliances were installed which was not their fault. The granite installer, (subcontracted by Boyer through Arizona Tile) was excellent, and made some suggested changes to our plan that worked out great.

The job started on October 22, 2014 with the owner Jeff coming out to start the demo at 11 am when they were scheduled to be there at 9 am and worked 3 hours. The next day they were scheduled and did not show but only calling that morning to say they would not be coming. This proceeded for 5 days on a job that we were quoted would take only 3 days to complete. The entire istall was a disaster. Nothing was covered properly as they stated they would do and dust was everywhere. The doors that were a double door on a cabinet when opened would not close again properly as they would overlap. Some doors were hung higher or lower not even and the pantry door was hung 3 inches from the bottom when it should have been flush with the floor. The seams where the new overlay onto the boxes were not evenly matched and you could see the original wood color. The crown molding was not matched properly at the corners. There were numerous imperfections on the actual cupboard boxes. The tilt out drawer for the sink had a plastic insert that was way to large for the drawer which then could not be closed once opened. The microwave was not installed as the measurements were incorrect. Now mind you they were installing the microwave without additional charge, which we grately appreciated. However, we were charged for a new cabinet that was made smaller so the microwave would fit above the stove. Now, John the designer measured this and gave me the exact size measurements for the microwave to fit above the stove with the existing granite backsplash. A second person came out to measure once again for final ordering and he actually saw the new microwave at that time for exact measures for the new cabinet and installation of it above the stove. However, when the installer came to do the job the measurements were incorrect and the granite backsplash was to high even after TWO seperate measurements. We waited serveral weeks then finally someone came to cut the backsplash at a cost to Boyars but they did make the mistake and the microwave was installed. However the installer ruined the entire new cupboard cutting a huge hole in the bottom making the cupboard useless. We called daily to Jeff and John to ask for one of them to come out and look at the job that it was entirely unaccectable. Finally, after writing a review on Yelp Jeff finally came to look at the job and agreed that it was not up to "their" standards and would redo the entire job. During which time we found out that the person who did our install it was his first job since ours was such a small job they figured he could do the job. December 9, 2014 Jeff finally sent out Humberto to redo the entire job from start to finish. This included replacing the destroyed new cabinet, installing the microwave and replacing everything, This process took 4 days. We were assured by Jeff that Humberto would complete this entire redo from start to finish. When Humberto was done there were still a few items that needed to be fixed the tilt out drawer is still crooked, install the new plastic drawer to tilt, and replace a cracker drawer face a couple minor touch ups to the seams. Which as of today 02/24/2015 it has still not been completed. I did speak with Jeff and he has scheduled Humberto to return on Monday, March 2nd we shall see if he shows up. We also found out that a prior appointment 3 weeks ago was not kept nor canceled because the wrong drawer face was ordered and had to be reordered. Again, a day off of work was taken for an appointment that was not kept nor did we receive any coursety call to let us know of the cancelation. We used up over 14 days off of work for scheduled appointments to which either were canceled day of or no shows. We asked if he could work with us doing early morning, late evening or weekend but we could not afford to take any further time away from work which Jeff stated he could not do had to be between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm weekdays and he believes we are being unreasonable with this request. I am taking time away from my job, impacting my income once again, so that Boyars can finally make this right as they contain to say they would like to do. The job was finally completed and all the problem areas were fixed as scheduled on March 2nd. The stress that we went thorough was not worth it at all.

Very friendly customer service rep. We then went to the store to look at actual refacing examples and did not like the finishings of the cabinets. The quote was certainly the lowest we received, but the quality was for us not satisfying.
