The work was completed quickly, but with explanations and estimates along the way. We were very satisfied with the work, and with the two men who did it.

Shower head was tightened appropriately and pressure was checked for the house. The pressure was high and appropriate adjustments were made.

Larry arrived promptly after calling me to tell me he was on his way. He was courteous and got right to work in the bathroom where he repaired/replaced some very old fixtures. He then moved on to the kitchen sink where he replaced very old pipes under the sink. He tested everything to make sure it was working...then found that both were draining slowly. He then cleaned the drain in both areas...and again ran the water, checked for leaks, and checked to make sure everything was working and draining properly. I would call them and him again in a minute.

Sound of water running in downstairs toilet on and off for the last week. Upstairs toilet had a trickle of water constantly flowing down into the bowl for several months. Asked Black Mountain to fix this. This Plumber came out and in two seconds looks at the downstairs toilet and states it was a older toilet and this required that he "rebuild " it to the tune of $266. He looked at the upstairs toilet and came to the same conclusion in another 2 seconds. I told him, that seemed high and I would need to get another bid. He charged me $118.00 to give me these wise words. I called Adept Plumbing and Steve came out and said they would need flappers, he charged me $100.00 to repair both. Problem solved, thanks Adept. Black Mountain is lining it's pockets, making these assessments to do work that isn't needed. Consumer beware.

Great experience with the whole process. Called at 8:30AM for an estimate on the repair of the jones valve. Travis/Joel arrived within a few hours to provide an estimate. They were very thorough in explaining exactly what would be done and how much it would cost - even going into detail on the possibility of additional time that may be needed if they could not dig out the valve line enough to replace. They were actually able to complete the job right then and there. They ended up not needing the extra time. Everything was cleaned up after the job and it looks great! As a consumer, I can really appreciate it when a subcontractor shows up for and estimate timely, provides a fair price up front, & is able to complete the job all in the same day.

I did not look like a very professional inspection, he just did a quick look where I ask him to look. Just told me that it might be separate things, not being specific. The water heater flush, he told me that there was a lot on sand and flush all on my tub.

I really appreciated meeting Solomon who is a beautiful representative of this company. You just 'know when you are in the company of a good person, and I was in the company of a good person. He called before coming and was here at the perfect time. As we'd purchased the Angie's List coupon to have our water heater flushed then when Solomon saw that our water heater was 8 years old and that the faucet was made of plastic (PVC), apologized saying that their was such a high probability that the faucet could break due to brittleness with it's age. So although we didn't have work done today, from beginning to end it was such a good experience, if we need anything done plumbing-wise, we will contact Black Mountain, because of Solomon.

Workers were friendly, knowledgable and courteous. Our shower fixture was reversed, hot was cold and cold was hot, which he fixed without charge. He identified a potential issue with a corroded shut off valve, told me why we should fix it and gave a cost. But didn't pressure me to buy.

After 30 years, the original PRV into the house started leaking about 1 gallon per hour. The old PRV had one threaded connection and one soldered connection. The soldered end had to be cut out. Larry (who was quick, very competent, and humorous, and was training a newbie plumber) worked fast and neat, and I learned a lot from his running commentary and instructions to the trainee. Larry and his partner replaced the old PRV with a new standard sized PRV that is threaded on both ends, and I'll be able to do the next replacement myself in 30 years (so Larry tells me!). The welds are very neat and there have been no problems since the work was done two weeks ago. After the PRV, Larry and his partner replaced the price-pfister valves in our shower. The washers were shot in the original valves and the shower had been slowly dripping for many months. Since the valves were also 30 years old, the trim pieces were lodged in place pretty tightly with calcium deposits and other accumulated crud that was underneath the trim. The trim pieces were difficult to get out, but Larry did it without damaging the trim and we were able to re-use the trim pieces. The valves were also a bit difficult to extract, but Larry had all the right tools and experience to do the job right and neatly. The new valves went in pretty smoothly (one leaked a little, but was quickly fixed by putting some plumbing compound around the threads), and the shower works great without any leaks. We did have a partially blocked flow from the shower head a day later, but that turned out to be a piece of the old valve washer that had fallen off the old valve and stayed in the valve body. When we turned on the water the next day, the washer debris got moved up into the shower head and restricted the water flow. I fixed this easily by taking off the shower head and removed the debris. This was not Larry's fault, as the washer was 30 years old and literally falling apart and a piece that couldn't be seen during the repair got into the piping. Larry tested (and had me test) the new valves and everything worked perfectly before they left. I am very pleased with Larry and his partner's work, and we would be very happy to have Larry do more work for us in the future!

Everything went well. I thought they did a reasonable job. but very expensive

I was under the impression that my whole house needed new plumbing. However, the technician did not see the need for it at this time. My house is a beach bungalow from the 1950's. I thought for sure I would be told the clogged drain was from under my house and a whole new drainage system would be needed. While this may be true in the future, the plumber was very forthright in letting me know it was not an immediate need.. When we do find ourselves needing the upgrade upon our future remodel, we will definitely call for a quote and consider using them again.

They came on time, fixed the problem quickly.

The repairs went quickly. They brought two people to complete the two tasks and they were done in 1 hour

Everything was great. Work was completed quickly and efficiently, and the explanation and writeup on the inspection were informative and easy to understand.

Did not use them because I had to use our HOA's plumber.

Way to go..

Solomon assessed the issue and gave me a price on the spot. I thought the price was a bit steep but just wanted the job done right so I went with it anyway. Other than the price, their service was excellent.

The 2 guys who came were very courteous and very informative and helpful and the best thing is they fixed my water heater and I did not have to replace it. They also made sure my water pressure in the house was in a good range,

Black Mountain Plumbing was able to install a new toilet the day after we made the request. Travis came on time. Two minor issues were discovered during the installation. First, a root was found entering from outside, through the flange, and into the drain pipe. The root was removed and root killer was applied around the flange prior to installation of the new toilet. Second, the first toilet brought in extended too far back against the wall and could not be installed. A second one, same model but shorter length, was brought in and installed. In both cases, the issues were explained clearly and dealt with efficiently and at no extra cost. We went with the model recommended by Black Mountain: Toto Drake 1.28 L.

We hired Black Mountain based on great Angies reviews. Two years ago, our sewer line backed up (ugly). The city came out and fixed it. The problem was roots in the pipes. We were told that to be safe we should have the line checked again in a couple years. We hired Black Mountain to do that a few weeks ago. They understood the background and that we would need to re-involve the city if the same problem were found. The service guy did the video thing - very nice guy, seemed quite competent. He found roots in the city part of the sewer line. The only way the city (of San Diego) will do the work is if the plumbing company files a report - I can't do this myself. Unfortunately, it turns out Black Mountain does not file a report with the city and they referred us to another company. By the time we sorted all this out, which required multiple phone calls, I had already paid the invoice. Black Mountain agreed to refund my money, as they were unable to really complete the job - filing with the city is the only important result. The ding in the score for professionalism is that it would have been better had they (1) referred me to someone else to begin with (2) not charged me when they determined the situation (3) refunded my money without the need for follow-up phone calls. However, it has all worked out, the second company did a great job and the city is digging up the sewer line to fix it even as I type this review. I'd like to make it extra clear that the person who came out to do the work was completely professional - my problem was with the office and even that was resolved satisfactorily.

Plumber and assistant showed up. He was rude off the bat and took an aggressive tone. While giving the estimate he kept saying all the things he couldn't do and was unprofessional. The initial plan was to provide an estimate but to bring necessary tools and supplies to do the work that day as I had a number of other folks showing up that were dependent on getting the plumbing work done in a timely fashion. Plumber immediately said that wasn't in his paperwork (even though this was explicitly discussed up front) so he was essentially looking for problems that would delay the project generally. Three people witnessed the estimate and review process and each of them had the same impression - unprofessional, rude and, worst of all, very shady. If the interactions weren't enough to dissuade me, the estimate he provided was double that of anyone else I have heard from. Saying no to this one was one of the easiest decisions I have made. The only positive note for these folks is their receptionist who is both courteous and professional.

Fast, professional, and friendly

Travis was the plumber. He was pleasant, friendly and did a great job. He had to use a machine with a snake which he entered through a clean out drain. He ended up snaking to the main I think as he used about 65 feet of snake. Clog cleared in little time. He was punctual and I didn't take any offense to him being a Kings fan........ he knows his hockey!!
