Mr. Beck was very personable, understood building codes and was able to make useful recommendations on work that should be done without bloating the service order. Contractors were all very courteous, timely and cleaned up after themselves. All work was completed as specified and on time. I would have no problem recommending Beck Electric and plan on using Beck Electric for any future needs.

After researching Angie's list, I called Beck Electric. The company was able to have an electrician come out the same day. He repaired the loose wire and was finished within 1/2 hour. He was pleasant, conversant and seemed to be knowledgeable.

Thanks to Martin Beck's expert knowledge and experience he was able to quickly pinpoint my problem and tell me how to get SDG&E to fix it. It was only about four hours from the time Mr Beck showed up at my house to the time SDG&E fixed the problem. Mr. Beck was very gracious and did not charge me for coming out to my house and diagnosing my problem.

Everything was done quickly and efficiently.

Martin arrived as scheduled (on Wednesday) to give me an estimate on the work I wanted done. I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and needed an electrical outlet moved prior to the new counter top being installed which had been schedule for the following Tuesday. I also wanted under cabinet lighting installed and some other work done. In addition I was on my way out of town and was not scheduled to be back until the day the counter was being installed. The work order was emailed to me and I faxed the signed copy and we were able to get the work scheduled for Monday. On Monday I spoke with John (the electrician) via phone and gave him my instructions as to what I wanted done. When I returned late Monday night the project was complete and everything done as requested. Please note that the work was done without my being present!!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Beck Electric. The only downside is that the tech said he wasn't sure they could do work on our downtown condo.

Outstanding service and I would use them again in a heartbeat. They came 2 times and the price was per visit.

Martin Beck remembered that I had called the day he returned from vacation. He offered to inspect the location to provide an estimate, which I declined. Based on my description of the job and the apartment, he gave a rough estimate of up to $250, possibly more if the metal studs caused a problem. He then offered to schedule a technician at 8:00 the following day but adjusted that time to between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, at my request. Shortly before 11:00 AM, he called to inform me that John was running late and would come between 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM. John called shortly before 2:30 PM. When he came, John brought everything he needed except a special screwdriver that is seldom used; that was in his truck and quickly obtained. Upon removing the existing light, John saw that the junction box was molded to the concrete ceiling. He verified with Martin Beck that it was best to use that junction box. Within an hour, John had completely and professionally installed the fan, the light, the remote control and removed all the debris. Since the job entailed less work and less time than we had estimated, the cost was significantly less than the estimate. The price listed includes a 10% senior discount, as offered in the Angie's List listing.

We needed to move in a hurry and Beck was able to come in, give a estimate and get reliable workers out to the house in a very short amount of time. Martin and his team really helped us out in a tight spot. Although all the work was done very well, the best part was the confidence we had in Martin and all of his employees. They are great.

I had a small variety of residential electrical projects to be done -- probably less than $1000 total. I called owner Martin Beck on Tuesday May 27th and set an estimation appointment for his first available time, which I understood to be Thursday May 29th. When Mr. Beck did not show, I telephoned him. He stated that I was mistaken, and that the appointment was for the following week on Thursday June 5th. OK, maybe there was a simple miscommunication and it wasn't entirely his fault. We confirmed the appointment for June 5th. A company estimator arrived that morning, reviewed the work required, made notes and promised to send a written estimate shortly. Although this company has my residence address, mail address, mobile telephone, office telephone and E-mail address, as of Monday June 16th I had not heard from them. It now has been three weeks since my first call to them, but I have no work done, no start date, no contract and not even an estimate in hand. I have used this company before and been happy with their work. They are highly rated by other Angie's List members. I don't know what has happened to them --perhaps spoiled by success? -- but this particular experience has been completely different. Because I previously submitted a positive review of this company to Angie's List, it seems only fair now to report this disappointing performance. Of course, I chose another company to perform this work.

Martin is a great guy who listened well to what my wife and I wanted done to our remodel. He made many great suggestions and was very conscious of our budget. His employee, Miguel, was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. He arrived on-time every morning at 8:30, and stayed the full day until 4:30 pm. He called me with any questions or concerns he had, and in turn, was readily available to answer any of my questions. They pulled new wire to several locations throughout our two bedroom house, and assessed and reported on any issues with the pre-existing wiring. They also pulled new coaxial cable throughout the house for televisions and internet connection. They were very clean and respectful of their work and our home. As I said before, very professional fun guys. I highly recommend them for any electrical job, big or small.

The new panel was not the exact same shape as the old one and a wall stud had to be cut. The city inspector required the addition of a replacement stud which required more work. Although he hadn't planned on the additional work when he made the bid, Martin Beck didn't bat an eyelash. He completed the additional work at no charge. I could tell that his reputation is very important to him. He'll do whatever is needed to make sure the job is done right and the customer is happy.

Mr Beck, since the service date of Jan 21st, I have received multiple invoices via facsimile and (1) email from you threatening small-claims action in the event of non-payment. Just today, received a call from Construction Notice services requesting preliminary info in order for you to file mechanic?s lien on my property. Despite the fact that our agreement allows 30 days from service date which was 23 days ago, I am more than surprised that you have elected to escalate the issue of payment to the point of harassment. This Mission Hills homeowner does not appreciate your lack of courtesy and responsiveness to my concerns. For the record, your payment shall be mailed today, Feb 13, 2008.

Martin Beck was on time and professional. He responded to the phone immediately and was exactly on time for the estimate and for the actual work done. Originally, I thought the time estimate was on the high side, but the work took exactly as long as he had predicted. Unfortunately, more holes in the drywall had to be created than originally hoped, and now I have to find someone to repair the damage. Rather than a small, inconspicuous hole, I have six large holes in my ceiling (not avoidable) and about a dozen knife holes in the walls and ceiling (avoidable). Also, no real cleanup was done by the electrician after the work was complete.

He did a very neat job. The cost was very reasonable. He found the problem right away and fixed it. He only charged for one starter and donated the rest.

They were professional, on time, and did the job very quickly. Price was fair they diagnosed the problem very quickly. The whole project worked out really well. They are a good company to work with.

It only took him about 1/2 an hour. He was speedy and very efficient.

They were totally professional. They were always on time. They cleaned up after themselves. They always knew what they were doing. They were very knowledgeable. I would hire them again in the future.

They are very good and came out right away. They are reasonably priced and hard working as well. I would recommend them to other people any time. They are easy to work with and they are very thorough in their work. The guy was professional and hard working.

Overall, the experience was excellent. The owner, Martin Beck, worked me into the schedule on the same day I called, and when there was a delay, he contacted me to make sure I was happy with the new arrival time. He was very eager to make sure things were right. Miguel installed a motion detector to turn the lights on near my front door. He offered good suggestions for placement, and was very patient as I thought through various options. I am happy with the placement we chose, and the work he did. Miguel also installed two new light fixtures in the bathrooms and fixed a light switch that was not working. I am very pleased with work he did. I think this is a good company.

John called half an hour before the appointment time to let me know that he was on his way and arrived on time. John was very knowledgeable, quickly identified the problem and replaced the electrical plugs.

Martin Beck was very friendly, prompt and responsive. I had trouble getting other electricians to even return my calls, much less give me a quote. All of the installs were great, with minimal drywall invasion and no mess when they were done. However, the cable TV jack did not work and two of the Ethernet cables were terminated with phone jacks, so they had to return the next week to remedy these defects.

Martin showed up for the estimate right on time and installed the dimmers on the spot for $20.00. He then e-mailed me a detailed estimate within a couple of days. I called and made an appointment to have the work done. His assistants showed up on time and went to work. They ran into a couple of unexpected snags due to my husbands' previous "creative" electrical work but managed to straighten it all out and bring it up to code. When all was done, one of the lights kept blowing out and as it was late we scheduled another day to finish fixing that. The assistant returned but was unable to figure out what the problem was so Mr. Beck came to my house and was able to solve the problem. At that time I paid him, exactly what the estimate had stated. The work involved cutting wallboard which is very messy and I would have liked to see the guys make a little more effort to contain the mess but otherwise their work was done very well.

Everything went well. John showed up on time, replaced the old light with the motion sensor light I purchased. He instructed me on the various timer options with the light. The light works like it is supposed to. He completed the project in a short amount of time.

They were on time, pleasant and efficient. I requested a change in how they installed the door bell and they quickly did so. I would hire them again. The final bill was higher than our estimate, only because we added some items.
