Description of Work: Hired for two projects |1. Garage shelves in Dec |2. In-door shelves in two areas in Jan. | |First project went ok, though delayed by a scheduling issue for his worker partner. Second project had even worse issues with scheduling and ability to complete. We ended up finding someone else to finish who came in a knocked it out himself in an afternoon. | |For the price, we expected more predictability and follow through. Nice guy, but we plan to look elsewhere for next project. | |

Description of Work: I've used Barney for two door projects, and I've been happy with results. One project wasn't done to my expectations at first but he fixed it promptly without any fuss. For the second project, his schedule was packed and a few weeks went by between the first and last visit, but he eventually got it done (and came out well!). | |He's a busy guy but the wait is worth it. He's also extremely friendly from start to finish, and his rates are competitive. Would definitely recommend!

Description of Work: Barney's great! I've had him perform a variety of services at my home twice now, and have him scheduled for two more visits. Barney is professional, with a great sense of humor, and zips through the work. He lets you know what supplies are needed, beforehand, for the work to be performed. So far Barney has prepped a door for painting, painted a prepped window, replaced a broken shower hose, hung drapes in my living room and dining room, fixed a leaking shower head, fixed a toilet to flush w/out having to hold the handle down, fixed a redwood picket in my fence, reinforced my washer/dryer platform, fixed a drawer in my dressing room built-ins( I hadn't been able to use if for YEARS), fixed the door to the built-ins (it hadn't closed properly in 30 years!). He's the best!

Description of Work: Barney is always terrific. He is our go-to handyman. He is always responsive, kind, and totally professional. If something doesn't come out exactly as you'd planned, he bends over backwards to make it perfect. You know that when a service person leaves, and you think, "We should have him over for dinner," you're onto someone really good. Barney is absolutely terrific.

Description of Work: Repaired some holes in my walls and hung some shelves properly by drilling into the studs. The repairman was punctual, professional, courteous, and he cleaned up after himself. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: He hung a new lighting fixture for me. He brought someone along to help so it didn't very long at all. It took them about 2 hours to fix my chandelier and other ceilings lights. I'm definitely only using him from now on. He's supposed to come back toward the end of July to take care of a few other things for me. They were so neat and clean. They cleaned up everything when they were done. They are also friendly and helpful. Barney made some recommendations on some other projects and provided advice on what I could purchase to move the project along.

+ -1 moreI had a leak under the sink and even though Barney was booked up and couldn't come do everything on my list, he made time to fix the leak and then came back to tackle the rest of the work. He did this despite the fact that I was a new customer and had never been here before. He cleans up afterwards and is neat, calls if he will be a few minutes late and I definitely recommend him.
Description of Work: Barney has come out to the house a couple of times and done an excellent job each time. He is excellent at looking at a problem and, if he doesn't have the answer, he will do the research and figure it out. He did a couple of minor plumbing repairs, some caulking and painting, etc. He will be returning to do some additional work after the Christmas holidays.

+ -1 moreWe originally had some difficulty meeting up between both of our schedules. When Barney came for the estimate, he did a through appraisal of the situation, gave me an estimate and advised how long the work would take. When he came to the house to complete the work, he discovered some possibly extensive dry rot under the boards and advised me that it was turning out to be more complicated than originally thought. He called other people he knew and gave me two (Angies list) general contractors phone numbers for a 2nd opinion. Although neither were able to come that day, I did find another Angies list member who came for an estimate. Although Barney wont finish the work , as it will need a building permit etc, I am pleased that he knew his limitations and discovered a problem that I hadnt known about. He charged me fairly and accurately for the hours of work he had done.
Description of Work: An invasive vine had grown up under some boards on the outside of my house and cracked them. I needed the vine removed and the boards repaired. Barney removed the vine which went up 2 stories to the roof, clipped it down and put it in my compost bin, removed the boards, and intended to treat the wood underneath but found dry rot, so informed me and stopped the job until I could get a second opinion.

+ -1 moreBarney came through a recommendation from another Angie's List top rated handyman who was too busy to get to us. We are based in San Francisco and he is in Berkeley, but he had no problem with coming over to work for us. Barney was super responsive and made time to come out to give an estimate within a day. He was always prompt and totally reliable. He also made good suggestions for fixing a few things in a cost efficient manner which was much appreciated. He was very professional and friendly. We will definitely continue to use his services in the future and recommend him highly.
Description of Work: Barney ended up doing a variety of jobs for us that included hanging a flat screen TV, installing drawers, hanging pictures and more. He also finished off work that other handymen failed to complete.

+ 2 moreHe lives in Berkley but he will service the whole bay area. He knew exactly what he was doing and is very savvy. The patio paint job included watching the humidity and temperature as it needed to be done at just the right time. He is also very honest.
Description of Work: He did several projects for me. He power washed and painted my back patio. The other projects were just smaller handyman services.
