I was noticing that my garage door was struggling when I open and closed the door, then suddenly there was a big bang, and then the door was sideways. Then I called Access to schedule a service call, they scheduled the service call to fit my schedule. The service truck arrived on time, and immediately gave me a quote before they started the job. I did not felt pressured or bullied to do the job, but since the price was reasonable I when ahead and agreed to proceed with the job. At the end of the job, the garage door was working efficiently and they lubricated the entire door to make it very quiet. The price was reasonable for the parts and service, and I feel protected with the warranty they offer.

I live in San Diego and was in the market for a custom wood garage door and got several estimates from different companies. At Access Custom Garage Doors there was a sales person available right away who was very knowledgeable. He asked me what type of look I was going for and also told me to consider coming down to their show room for more personal service and the ability to touch, smell and feel the doors which I thought was a very nice touch. My wife and I then proceeded to go check out the showroom to see what they had to offer which was time very well spent as we could physically compare models and understand the price differences. They were also very up front about ongoing maintenance cost which a lot of other companies breeze over.. Once we signed the contract the doors were installed 4 weeks later. They were efficient, clean and courteous and after the installation was complete we even received a phone call from the installation manager confirming our expectations had been met. We received multiple quotes and these guys were not the cheapest but like anything you get what you pay and based on the final product the extra money was very well spent and I have no problem recommending them for future use.

The service was very good. They provided answers to all the questions.

Access Garage Doors did an outstanding job when they installed our door years ago. And they had a partner (not part of their company) that came out to do the staining of the door. He, too, did a terrific job - it took him HOURS to stain that door. He was a craftsman. This past week we had to have our door re-stained because of its age. We called Access and they told us the original staining partner had retired and they had a new one now. So they recommended him. I am writing this for Access and not for the staining company because it was Access's door, Access's recommendation, and Access's good name. And this seems to be their exclusive staining partner. The guy was very nice and very enthusiastic, but it was clear from the beginning that he was more of a painter than a stain craftsman. He wrapped up the job in an hour or two across two days. Much less time than the original job took. How does the door look now? It's okay. It's not bad. But it is not what it was when it was new. So by all means get Access to install your new garage door. But Access should know that you're not buying a garage door. You're buying a beautiful piece of curb appeal.

I have a love/hate relationship with Access. On the love side, they custom manufacture garage doors and their work is absolutely beautiful. The hate side kicks in once they show up to install the beautiful garage doors and pretty much from that point on. Their installers are sloppy and in my case they dropped one of the doors and bent the track and left it that way. Since installation, I have had them out 6 times in 8 months for various service problems, including misaligned sensors, popping springs, and jammed doors. The last time they were out the door had gone out of balance and was stuck crooked in its tracks for 3 days before they finally showed up.

They attached the garage door opener into the drywall incorrectly, causing it to come crashing down. The garage door they installed also squeaked loudly, and I had to have my partner repair the squeaking sound. I ended up taking them to court, and prevailed receiving a settlement in the amount of $1,000.

A COUPLE WEEKS DELAY IN FINISHING AND DELIVERING THE DOOR, BUT IT DID NOT THROW OFF THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. THIS TYPE OF DELAY IS NOT UNUSUAL WITH A CUSTOM DOOR. THE DOOR IS PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL, EXPENSIVE, BUT WORTH THE PRICE. THE INSTALLATION WAS TERRIBLE, UGLY, AND INCORRECT. NEVER, EVER, USE THEM FOR INSTALLATION. FOR EXAMPLE: DAMAGE TO WHITE POWDER COATED DOOR CHANNELS WHEN THE INSTALL TECH USED SERATED VICE-GRIPS ON RAILS, IMPROPERLY BALANCED DOOR WHERE OPENER WOULD NOT OPEN (LATER FOUND A PIECE REQUIRED TO BALANCE DOOR PROPERLY HAD BEEN BROKEN DURING INSTALL - I PAID A DIFFERENT SHOP TO REPLACE AT LATER DATE); DID NOT INSTALL WALL SWITCH (ANOTHER COMPANY FINALLY SENT ME ONE FOR FREE AND I INSTALLED IT); NO INSULATION STRIPS INSTALLED, AFTER I COMPLAINED, GREY STRIPS WERE MOUNTED THAT WERE CLEARLY VISIBLE WHEN THE DOOR WAS CLOSED (OVERLAPPED THE OUTSIDE OF DOOR). I FINALLY TOLD THEM TO QUIT THE JOB AND HAD IT FINISHED BY ANOTHER. I WOULD HIRE AGAIN TO BUILD A DOOR.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH GARAGE DOOR COMPANIES IS THAT I HAVE USED A FEW DIFFERENT ONES, AND THIS BY FAR IS THE BEST QUALITY AND PRICE. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL.

FROM THE MOMENT I FIRST SPOKE WITH THE RECEPTIONIST, WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. ERIC, OUR SALESPERSON, WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND GOT THE GARAGE DOOR EXACTLY HOW WE WANTED IT ... DRAMATIC, BEAUTIFUL, AND UNIQUE. WE CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THEIR SERVICES!
