Their service was very good. Sam came out and got the job done very quickly without any problem. He was punctual, came really quickly, and explained what he was doing.

Sam was not very personable, but thats ok, he's just over to fix a washing machine. Our washing machine broke a few days ago, and laundry is piling up.... We remove shoes when we enter our house, and I asked Sam to do the same. He refused flat out. Didn't give a good reason but said his shoes were clean. I relented on the shoe issue, because we need to do some laundry.... However, this is unusual behavior. everyone else including those in the service industry honor our request when entering our home. We got to the unit, and he was upset to find that we have a stackable unit. He said that I clearly told him on the phone the unit was side by side. Not sure how this miscommunication happened, as we never discussed the orientation of our machines, just the year and model number. I politely thanked Sam for the visit, and showed him the door. His attitude and professionalism are unacceptable for those in the service industry. I will look for a technician elsewhere.

Called A-Z Appliance Repair around 8:50AM after looking at Angie's List, Yelp and Bay Area Checkbook. Explained to Sam Veynrob, the owner, that the refrigerator was not cooling properly, the freezer was not keeping things really frozen, and the unit had a 'hot smell' coming from the cabinet into the room. He said he could come to our home and be here within 20 or 30 minutes -- arrived on time, ( now THAT'S a rarity today.....:-). He pulled the old baby out from the wall, ( have always taken care of it -- maybe that is why it has lasted so long ), checked the electrical continuity inside with his meter, and found there was no power getting to the condenser fan. Soo-o-oo, what does that mean you might ask? If that fan doesn't work, it causes the compressor to keep going and going forcing it to try and compensate by continually running and when it gets overworked, it overheats and finally shuts down, ( sometimes for an hour or more at a time ) -- hence the lack of adequate cooling. Sam took care of the wiring problem, got it up and running properly, AND was part of my 'Refrigerator 101' education for the day -- is still purring like a kitten. Angie's List says, 'We want all the details', and now you have them !!!

Sam from A-Z Appliance Repair came to our home for a review of our broken refridgerator, and quickly determined that he was not able to assist in the repairs. He was prompt, on-time, courteous and honest. Did not charge us anything for the evaluation.

They were great. They were reasonable. The technician was knowledgeable. There was one part that was needed and he went and got it that day and had it working that day as well. I have nothing bad to say.

Was a bit upset over the fact that the D/W was only 18month's old and out of warranty. Doesn't say much for electronic controls of the Maytag (Whirlpool) brand and will think twice about the purchase of any Whirlpool product in the future. Maytag used to make good products but not the case any longer and same can be said for their washers. Cost of this repair was hard to swallow and probably would have been better off with purchase of a new D/W as I paid $550 for it new. As far as the repair itself, Sam was on time, explained the possible/probable costs involved, so the cost was not a complete surprise when both parts ended up having to be replaced.

I initially contacted A-Z on Monday, 08/26/13, after my freezer when out. I set up a 4 p.m. appointment. I canceled the appointment after my husband said he had fixed the problem. (Hahaha). Three hours later, after coming home work, it was clear the freezer was Not fixed. I then called A-Z Tuesday morning and asked he would still come out. He was very accommodating. I was at work and couldn't be there so Sam agreed to go to my house at 10 a.m. since my daughter would be home. He arrived on time. Since my husband had not yet left for work he was able to show Sam what the problem was. He said Sam went right to work. He also showed my husband areas that should be taped up to enable our freezer to run more efficiently. My husband had nothing but good things to say about Sam. He was professional, went to work right away and got the job done within an hour or so. We would definitely recommend his services to anyone in need of appliance repairs. We will, also, call him again when we need other appliance repairs. We have nothing but high praise for Sam.

My father in law had complained that his 25 year old Whirlpool refrigerator was leaking water that was dripping below his water vegetable tray. He wasn't sure who to call except for Whirlpool Factory reps so I decided to look up local appliance repair in the area on Angie's List as we had a good experience using the services for tree repair. After researching the local repair companies and reviews, I decided to go with Sam as he was a local owner and had great reviews as we wanted someone my father in law could trust. I called Sam at 8am and explained the situation and he called my father in law and arraigned for a 10am meeting. When Sam got there, he made him feel relaxed and talked about family etc and got right down to fixing the refrigerator. My father in law was concerned that he may need a new refrigerator but within a hour, Sam had the leaking water fixed, cleaned out the freezer part and had it back to working order even telling him that this was a good refrigerator and they don't make the new ones like this one. Sam left his cad and my father in law smiling and satisfied Thank you Sam!

Our refrigerator wasn't getting cold. Sam came over to check it out the same day that I called. He identified the bad part and had the refrigerator up and running again until he could come back the next day with the new part. The needed part was no longer available but Sam found a replacement part that solved the problem. He saved us having to buy a new fridge!

My 8 year old Kenmore washing machine did not spin correctly for 3 years, even after 2 other repairmen tried to fix it. The clothes were still wet after one spin and required a second spin to get more water out. When the machine began leaking on the floor, I started to look up the cost of new washing machines. I discovered that MANY people were unhappy with the new, "efficient" machines, claiming that parts of the clothes were still dry and dirty after washing due to the very low water level these machines used. I decided to try to have someone fix my washing machine, since there are very few models available that use a full tub of water. Sam arrived on Sunday, December 30th, to check out the machine and order parts. He came back on 1/4/13 and fixed the machine perfectly!

I needed repair on my dishwasher. I researched the problem online and found what thought was the problem. I also found prices for needed parts. When I called this shop I spoke with the owner and he knew exactly what the problem was before I had even elaborated too much. He quoted a reasonable price for labor and generally the same price for parts that I had found online. With my permission he ordered the part and didn't charge for it in advance. We scheduled an appointment and he was prompt and got the job done. Also gave us some tips on keeping our other appliances in good working order. Polite, professional, prompt

I called A-Z Appliances because it was 7:30 p.m. and I needed someone to fix my refrigerator right away. Sam Veynrob (owner) answered and I explained my problem. He said "listen very carefully. Unplug your refrigerator and try another outlet. Your refrigerator is not broken." I did as he said and Eureka! it worked. He did not want any payment, but I insisted on sending him at least the cost of a service call. Cheap for the value. Thank you, Sam. I will use you again.

My Whirlpool Fridge(only 3 years old at the time) stopped working. The freezer was cold but not the fresh food compartment. I gave A-Z a call around 9am after reading some reviews of several places. Sam ( the owner) came over by 10:30am. He determined that the heater in the fridge was working, but that the thermostat and the control board had both gone. After a quick trip to SF to retrieve the parts, he thawed the freezer, replaced the thermostat and swapped out the control board. I would use his services again.

I called the owner just after lunch to set up an appointment. He came over the same day and diagnosed the problem in short order. After detailing what was wrong and laying out the cost of the repair parts he went ahead and ordered the parts after obtaining my approval. He returned the next day with the parts and installed them and had the unit up and running within 45 minutes of his arrival. Everything went along without a hitch. He was very knowledgeable and was willing to explain all aspects of the job. I would definitely us his services again

I called at 8:30. We set a time for 10am that morning. He arrived early. He found the problem. Called for parts. Thankfully he had the part with him. He replaced the item and helped me put the fridge back where it goes. My only complaint would be that his service charge is not part of the labor fee. Because of that the cost of the 1 hour was higher that I felt it should have been. But just great service. I will use him again. I will just factor in the extra cost.

Our 6-7 year old GE refrigerator stopped working suddenly and I contacted a few people from Angie's List. A-Z Appliance Repair had the lowest cost to come and check it out. Sam came out right away and was very nice. He was quick and knew exactly what was wrong. He went right away to pick up the part and came back and fixed it. The part (motherboard) was expensive, but his labor was reasonable. He was very efficient and very pleasant. He offered advice on what other kinds of appliances are expensive to repair. I will certainly keep his number for the next time I need something fixed.

A-Z were very responsive and offered to come out the same day. The technician was a little brisk in manner, but diagnosed the fault accurately and agreed to charge only one service call, even though 2 visits were required. The repair has worked and the fridge-freezer is now fine again. The final charge was a tiny bit less than we agreed on the first visit. I would definitely use A-Z for future problems.

Our refrigerator stopped working, and I was hoping to avoid having to replace the entire unit. Sam saved the day. He was able to come over the same day I called him. He was quite professional, and explained that there was a workaround that would avoid having to replace the compressor (which would run in the $600-700 range, practically enough to justify buying a new fridge). He also provided a 90-day warranty, such that if the fix does not hold, he will refund half of his fee. He is a very straightforward technician, and I believe he presented the facts clearly and allowed me to make an informed decision.

Our GE refrigerator broke down overnight and everything was melting in the freezer. After clearing out the spoiled food Sunday, I called A-Z Appliance Repairs that evening because he was located close to my home. Sam answered and scheduled an appointment for 8 am Monday morning. He was very punctual, in fact, early. Sam diagnosed the problem in less than 30 minutes. He said the motherboard had burnt out in two areas and can be replaced provided the supplier had the part. Sam had other calls to make that morning and said he will call back. He called back in the early afternoon and said he was able to locate the part and to arranged a time to replace it. Sam then came in an hour and replaced the motherboard with no problem. Everything is working great now.

After trying to deal w/ the manufacturer's service reps in order to get the appliance fixed under our extended warranty and being told it would take 3 days, I called A-Z to see what he could do. Sam diagnosed the problem over the phone, took down the model number and called me back after he located the part needed. He showed up right away and fixed the appliance. From the time I first called him until I wrote the check after the repair was one hour and fifty minutes! Prompt, professional! He's going on my short list of service companies to call in a pinch.

My daughter left the refrigerator door ajar when we were on vacation. When we returned the freezer was ok but of course the fridge was warm. We could not hear the fan/motor coming on so we thought it was broken. I called Sam that evening on the off chance that he would pick up, and he did. We made an appointment for him to come out the next afternoon. In the meantime I thought the refrigerator might be "on" again but I was not willing to take a chance that it might not be. Sam showed up right on time, assured me that the fridge was fine and charged me the service fee. Well worth the $45 for my peace of mind.

As soon as he came out and opened the door, he knew exactly what was wrong. He had a great attitude and did a great job. I was also impressed that he was able to come out so quickly.
