PMT Concrete

dThey worked very quickly and moved a lot of stuff out of the way for me.They did a very good job , but had a little trouble getting the color of the wall consistent.

So I called on the Friday 25th of July, received a call back from the secretary on Saturday the 26th of July, Peni came to my home on Sunday the 27th to look at my area which was a mess!! (I couldn't believe how quickly this whole process was moving), so then He asked to have a little time to measure the area and crunch some numbers and he'd let us know when he was done. In approx. 15min he had us an estimate that suited us just fine. We actually thought for sure it was going to be way out of our price range. He also told us he could remove all of the old stacked up wood and other debris as part of the package, I said: "Are you sure?", he said, "Yes, absolutely, no problem"!! I couldn't believe he went above and beyond already and hadn't even started the job. So, then we set the date for Monday or Tuesday the 28th or 29th of July (cant remember for sure), The crew got here at 8:30am and started working like mad men, by 1:30pm they were done. I kid you not!!!! I couldn't believe it.. I went out back to look at the job and cried because it was just as I had always pictured in my mind. You have to know, my husband and I have been planning this since 2008 July when we first bought the home. To see my dream for that area completely done exactly to my specs, is a feeling I cannot describe. These guys were Heaven Sent!! If you are sitting on the fence about hiring them for your concrete needs, don't wait, just go for it!!! Thanks again Peni and Crew, you totally went above and beyond all of my expectations!!! I have been traumatized by PMT. We have had a number of contractors come to our home in recent weeks, and I keep learning more about how PMT messed up BIG TIME. For example, I have tile guys in the backyard who pointed out that they poured a PARALLELOGRAM -shaped patio and not a RECTANGLE. They just stuck the forms wherever they wanted and didn't measure, apparently. One of the edges is crooked by more than 3 inches and the other side is crooked by A FULL 6 INCHES. I have been advised by three separate contractors (who do not know one another) that we should contact the state licensing board about PMT. Also: 1) Another contractor told me we're lucky the city hasn't fined us because PMT left a mess in the street and the contractor said they didn't neutralize it, which means it could contaminate our water supply. 2) Weeks after the job, I began noticing they were pouring dirty concrete and water into my plants, trees and bushes. There were solid chunks in my plants that were yards away from where they were working. 3) I found cigarette butts and trash around my property from their workers. 4) It was extremely difficult to communicate with them about when they would be here. They would just show up and leave when they wanted. It was also difficult getting them to return calls. 5) They didn't consult me about the expansion joints. My concrete pad ended up looking like a major grid or sidewalk with more expansion joints than I ever needed. 6) They walked off with my my pick ax. When I mentioned it to them and asked for it back, they said it was an accident and didn't return it right then. Apparently they loaded it on their truck and kept it overnight when I was doing work in the yard. I had to demand it before payment, and I finally got it back when it was pay day. BEWARE! If you don't know much about concrete, BE CAREFUL. These guys will fly through the job and leave you wondering what the H-LL happened! I have had a great deal of luck with highly rated contractors on Angie's List before this. Now I am seriously reconsidering whether I should trust Angie's List's review process AT ALL. By no stretch of the imagination should these people have an A. I'm so traumatized that I'm dreading hiring concrete workers for my side walkway. I have dealt with a half dozen contractors over the past 2 months and never experienced anything this horrific.

They were curtious, prompt and very responsive. They performed the job as soon as possible, the next day and were on time and finished the same day. We are happy with the work.

Good price and very professional, just didn't fit our calendar.

I called PMT concrete and left a message for Penni. He responded immediately. They were the only concrete company that responded so quickly. He came out that same day and gave us an estimate. We changed our plans after we received the estimate and asked if he could come out again and he did that same day. We thought the estimate was fair and asked when he could start. He said now. I have never heard of a company that could start right after giving an estimate but we said yes and he and his crew had all the forms in that evening. They poured cement the next day and did an amazing job. Everything looks great! Rarely have I dealt with a contractor of any kind that was so responsive. Most are so busy they don't even return your phone call. I highly recommend PMT Concrete!

Their price was pretty reasonable. Well overall, I am kind of disappointed actually. Things that I liked were, they were prompt. The work they did they did it quickly and that was actually part of the problem as they were moving so quickly that they were not really consulting with us exactly what we wanted. They were just making decisions, head on to fly and not all of it turned out exactly how we would have chosen. Regarding their quality, there are a lot of lines that are overlapping. They did not put any wire mesh down or rebond in the concrete; they just poured it straight onto some crushed pebbles, which they never talked to me about. There are a lot of bubbles in the edges. They were trying to save money because he made a deal with me to deck up my old patio, included in the amount we agreed on. We agreed on $3500 and he said for $500 more bucks he would do that, but I think he was trying to save money because none of us realized that it was like a feet thick. Anything I pointed out they would take care of it, but if I did not find it and say this needs to be different then they were not coming to find out what exactly I wanted, they were just making decisions on their own. They would show up, but they would not give me a time. They would say, we are going come today, if I asked what time they would say well today. I found a lot of cigarette buds and trash in my backyard afterwards.

Peni returned my call promptly and scheduled an estimate for the next available day. He arrived on time (early actually) for the estimate. Peni's price was competitive to other quotes we received and he lowered his price to match a competitor and could start work sooner than the other company, so we hired PMT Concrete. They were on time for the job and got the work done quickly. His workers were very nice, but they did leave their trash in my yard rather than tossing it in the trash bin which was 15 feet away. I won't hold that against them though. They did great work and I would hire them again.

I called PMT construction 12:30 on Friday. At 1:30 Pene came by to give us an estimate. We knew what we wanted, partly from talking to other concrete companies and described the job to Pene. He quickly spec'd out the area, offered to do the hauling of the debris we were going to have to pay someone else to do, and gave us a quote. When asked when he might be available to start, he said "Tomorrow!" We discussed a few more details, such as depth, curve/arc of the border, coloring the concrete to match an existing pool deck, etc. We felt confident about Pene and hired him. Though he didn't offer as much input or advice in the design process, we knew what we wanted and he was clear about that. His crew showed up spot on time the next morning at 8 a.m. and got to work removing the debris, clearing the area and prepping for pouring. The crew was very careful to listen to what we wanted. I wanted a particular curve to echo the pool deck and they worked very patiently with me to ensure they understood exactly what I wanted--above and beyond really. While they were very casual, they were also very careful and diligent. Pene matched the color of the concrete quite well despite the fact that we had no information to help him in his color choice. I also asked for curved expansion joints and they placed those beautifully as well. The crew worked diligently and efficiently all day. They were quiet, courteous, helpful, engaging, and enjoyable. They checked with us often at various stages of the process to ensure that we approved of each step. They cleaned up well when they were finished and left our yard looking great. PMT apparently offers a lot of different services, including tree removal, which Pene noticed we had a few trees that needed to come down. They were quick and seemed very reliable so I'm sure I'll be calling them again for future needs. From first call to job completion was about 30 hours! Granted our project was small and relatively easy for them, but I appreciated not having to wait two weeks to get started, which is what another company quoted me. PMT's quote was also lower that my other quote and included the hauling of my debris, so I feel I got a really good deal.

PMT was responsive and showed up promptly for the estimate. They were knowlegable on the type of concrete required and consulted on optional additional jobs. The price quoted was in line with other offers but the level of professionalism was far superior. After being selected, PMT agreed to do the work the next day. They showed up early and had sufficient men to complete the job in one day. While waiting for the concrete to harden sufficiently to apply the aggregate, the men stayed on site and continuously monitored the concrete curing process. The next day PMT returned to complete the process and finish the concrete. They took extra care including digging a small catch trench to avoid contaminating my neighbors driveway as they washed out the aggregate. Forms were removed and the area was cleaned very well. I am very pleased with the beautiful work done by PMT and by the prompt and professional manner in which they did it. I would gladly recommend them to anyone needing concrete work.

These guys were GREAT! They came on time, got right to work and were very polite. The price was very fair and reasonable, it was the lowest bid for the most work and services. I would use them again for any concrete project. They had all of their own equipment, the crew was efficient and they cleaned up after the job. My new driveway, sidewalk and shed pad are beautiful! I did not think that I could get so excited over concrete. I would recommend PMT Concrete to any friend or family member that needs this kind of work!

They were available and responsive, completed the work promptly, and had a good price.

I did not like that they started the pour late and did not finish until 9:00 PM

We contacted them for a bid, they came out that afternoon, and performed the job the next day. They had another job in the area at the time, so they were able to come to our right after. Ours was a small job so the were in and out quickly.t S

Response to initial call for estimate and start of work was very good. However, I did not appreciate the fact that they stayed till 8pm one night. Also, they did not keep property clean. Even after I complained trash and mess was left for homeowner to clean. Work was not completed within time frame indicated. Also, when estimate was given I asked to use my Visa and owner indicated no problem; however, when I went to use Visa I was told I would have to pay an additional 3% to cover the fee his bank charging for providing use of credit cards. I said I would waive the use of $100 in Angies coupons to offset his charge ( he actually came out $64 ahead). The new walkways are excellent; I couldn't be happier, price was very reasonable. If not for the items described above I would hire them again. However, I do not like cleaning up during and after work, onsite workers were less then friendly and I do not appreciate them showing up for work past a normal business time.

The PMT Concrete crew arrived and immediately started working. The driveway and sidewalk were removed quickly and the ground prepared for new concrete. In addition to the concrete project, PMT was nice enough to lay an irrigation pipe we had purchased where the new driveway would be in case of a future sprinkler system emergency. The crew was very thorough in their work, often going over a particular part of the job several times to make sure it was to standards. The driveway was finished the first day, and they returned the next day to pour the sidewalk. To ensure proper water flow, the crew poured a bucket of water at one end of the new sidewalk/gutter to check the flow. They made adjustments to the gutter at least three times to make sure the water would flow correctly. Presumably later that evening, the owner drove by to see check the work and decided it was not to his standards. He called us to say his crew would be out the next morning to re-pour half the sidewalk - which is exactly what happened. They also, at no extra charge, removed and poured a further section of the sidewalk/gutter to ensure proper water flow. A few days later, after the sidewalk was dry, the crew returned to remove the caution signs and for a final cleanup. We are very pleased with our new driveway and sidewalk and would hire PMT Concrete for any future projects; in fact, our homeowner's association is considering installing ramps at all the access points to our trail system and we plan to recommend PMT for the job.

Peni was quick to respond to my initial call. I had his estimate within 24hours. He and his crew showed up on time, swarmed my property, and had the whole job done in one day. They came back two days later and did a major clean-up. They even picked up bits of concrete that were on the grass. I went through 4 contractors and got inflated estimates and even one clown who wanted 60% down! PMT is the best!

PMT's price was the second lowest of the 5 quotes we requested. We chose them b/c of the good interaction with Peni and the overall feedback in these reviews. We are glad we did and are very happy with the results. I want to explain the "B" ratings above. I am just trying to keep my review as honest and as close to how I felt at the time in order to keep the community informed. Responsiveness: Peni never seemed to answer his phone but he was fairly prompt at returning my call when I left a message. Maybe he was having a busy week, I don't know. Not a huge deal, just not deserving of an "A" rating (not really a "B" either, more like a "B+" or "A-") Punctuality: On the first day of the 3 day job they didn't show up and get started until 9-10am. When I got home from work ~6:30 they were still there and stayed util 7:30ish. It was like this on day 2 as well. Day 3 was the cement pour day so they were on time and gone pretty early. To be fair, it isn't like we agreed on work hours or start times, just again not deserving of an "A". Professionalism: All of Peni's guys were courteous and jovial. They all worked very hard under some pretty hot weather and were pleasant to talk to. I gave them a "B" rating for the cleanliness of their work area and the fact that they were smoking in my yard and on my patio next to the house. In various discussions with Peni it seemed like PMT was a pretty big outfit as he mentioned they also did work for the City of Elk Grove. I mention that b/c it may have been a "municipal job" mentality that led to those issues. On a residential backyard job it gets you a "B" in that category. I would like to stress again, we are glad we chose them and are very happy with the results. I would recommend them to my closest friends and relatives. Fantastic quality, price and workmanship. If I ever need more concrete work done they will be at the top of my list.

i asked many times if the work could be done without making a mess of the pool and was told yes that would be no trouble. The work was done quickly. When they left the pool looked like a mire of thick dark water. which took me more than 2 weeks of cleaning repeatedly all pumps equipment,all filters and pool. I was left with lumps of concrete stuck to the inside of the pool these I have been inable to remove. I called ...no response. I was told that they would return to finish the corking in a week or so ....nobody turned up or contacted me. I only got a response after my son-in-law called Penni himself a number of times.Two men came and did the corking and said they were done, when i was able to look at it later it was a mass of bubbles and very uneven and it looks a real mess. i have called since but only got the answering machine and no return call, also there are some cracks appearing and the surface is very rough and this is after a couple of months.I can only say for myself I was very dissapointed and would not use again.

He was very professional and friendly, good attitude. He was on time for the appointment. He explained exactly what he would be doing. His price seemed quite reasonably.

Great job except for one mow strip, which they did over. Crew, was helpful and respectful, only here, no one really seemed "in charge".

The team arrived punctually for their estimate. Their estimate was WAY less than we had been quoted from some other companies we found great recommendations for on Angie's List. We couldn't have been happier. They brought enough men to get the job done quickly. They worked together wonderfully. They honored their price and I was happy to see they now include on the contract that if you will be paying with credit card there is an extra 3% fee. They wanted us to be happy and were a pleasure to work with. I am so grateful to Angie's List for having found them. I never would have known about them otherwise. That is why i'm taking the time to write the review... I would definitely use them again and recommend them without hesitation.

They were very fast and honest. Their price was competitive. The quality of their work was good and their responsiveness was excellent.
