We hired Kitchen Mart to remodel our master bathroom down to the studs. By all appearances, the company did a very nice job; the results look great. We were especially pleased with the work of Randy Richey, who basically took care of each stage of the project except for the tile work. A true and ldquo;Renaissance Man,and rdquo; he handled the final phase of the demolition work and all of the sheetrock, electrical, plumbing, shower pan, and cabinet refacing work. He was a joy to work with from start to finish. Such is the and ldquo;good news.and rdquo; We would have given Kitchen Mart a higher overall rating except for our disappointment with David Starrett, who was dubbed our and ldquo;project manager.and rdquo; When he visited our home initially, he was carrying the multi-page spec descriptions, but it didn't seem as if he had bothered to gain any familiarity with the job before his arrival. We spent a great deal of time doing nothing more than answering questions that were already addressed in full in the specs. Later on, David agreed to coordinate our acquisition of faucets and other fixtures from a local plumbing supply store; he even assured us two weeks afterwards that he was and ldquo;up to speedand rdquo; on getting the fixtures in our hands. Unfortunately, he had never followed up with the plumbing supply sales staff after his initial contact with the store, and when we called the store ourselves we discovered that the fixtures had never been ordered at all. David's initial reaction to our expression of displeasure was to deny any responsibility for the mishap. We should also cite David's apparent failure to visit the work site even once during the month-long construction and ndash; a strangely detached interpretation of his role as a and ldquo;project manager.and rdquo; And when we attempted to reach David near the end of the job to discuss an apparent problem, we never heard back from him. Overall, the level of communication we enjoyed with Kitchen Mart was less than what we felt a $25,000 remodeling job ought to have warranted. Other negative points: (1) Steve King, a very skilled salesman, significantly understated the amount of time the job would require and overstated the amount of supervisory oversight the work would have; (2) the gentlemen who took part in the first day of the demolition work needed to borrow our wheelbarrow and floor fan, leaving us to wonder why they hadn't been equipped with such basic implements by Kitchen Mart; (3) the tile installers left the premises after pronouncing their phase of the work and ldquo;all finishedand rdquo; but had failed to apply a corner piece at the end of a row of quarter-rounds; (4) the same tile crew left a huge pile of rubbish at the side of our house instead of hauling it away.
Description of Work: Master bathroom was stripped down to the studs and remodeled -- new toilet, shower pan, fixtures, tile, mirrors, medicine cabinets, etc. Vanity refaced. We have had to have the shower floor replaced twice. Their tile people do not seem to be able to get it right. The latest problem is that the tile on the floor is now cracking and the grout is falling out in chunks. We are VERY disappointed with Kitchen Mart! In all fairness they have been responsive to fixing the floor problems, but enough is enough!

It went very well. The quality of workmanship was great as well as the communication with the project manager,David Starrett.. First, we met with Steve King for consultation and estimate then with David Starrett, the project manager, to fine tune the job. The tear-out went well with minimal disruption, dust down to a minimum. Next came the construction which turned out beautiful. During the construction we had some design changes. The quality of the workmanship is awesome and the staff at Kitchen Mart is great-everyone was professional and were talented in what they do.
Description of Work: Removed existing shower ceramic tile, replaced with Corain surround, removed glass shower walls and replaced with heavy glass, in addition to the traditional shower we also installed a wide Corian bench for a seated shower along with fixtures for a hand shower. Removed the jetted tub, replaced (2) toilets with Toto brand model, installed Warmfloor "heated floor" under the porcelein tiles. Also installed crown molding in bathroom and wrapped (7) windows throughout the home with molding and installed bathroom fan.

Kitchen Mart re-refaced my cabinets and replaced a defective Corian countertop after another company ruined my kitchen. The entire Kitchen Mart staff was fabulous from the first time I called to the time 1 year after the installation was complete when they came out, (without an argument) to fix a minor problem. I cannot say enough about the excellent service they provide. In particular, Mr. Dan Babcock was helpful to us beyond all measure. I now have a beautiful kitchen and I have Kitchen Mart to thank for it. I just wish I would have called them first...
Description of Work: First they repaired all the damage another company did to my kitchen and then removed all of the faulty work from the other company. Once that was completed they refaced the cabinets in my kitchen, laundry room and half bath. they also installed Corian countertops in all three rooms. they were pleasant, professional, and clean. They reinstalled all of my appliances and even moved some electrical outlets for us. The most amazing thing was they completed the work in 7 days. I had been with out a workable kitchen at this point for 8 months.

It went very well; from my initial call to the showroom, to scheduling appointments, planning sessions, and contacts with sales representative and the project manager everyone was courteous, helpful and very responsive. I had telephone, in person and online contact and each time staff were prompt and thorough in their responses. The projects were done in three stages to accommodate a planned vacation and everyone there was very flexible. I am completely satisfied.

We contacted the Kitchen Mart located in Rocklin for an estimate to remodel our kitchen. Jim Howard was the sales representative that promptly contacted us, came to our home and provided an estimate. Our research of the Better Business Bureau and Angie's List showed very positive comments regarding Kitchen Mart. When we received the initial estimate of the work we wanted done, it seemed reasonable. However, when I asked Jim to itemize the materials and labor costs to compare estimates from other contractors I was working with, he was reluctant to provide that information. Jim wouldn't provide itemized pricing via email, but did provide that information if we would come by his office. The cost to reface our kitchen cabinets or install DuPont Corian counter tops was very competitive compared to other remodeling contractors we received bids from. However, we found a lot of the work such as demolition of existing tile and installation of granite or tile flooring was twice the cost of an independent contractor. In fact, we signed a contract with Debra Hoang at Stone and Beyond based on her reviews on Angie's List, recommendation from other kitchen remodeling contractors and the outstanding customer service and competitive pricing she provided. This hidden markup was discovered only after considerable probing for an itemized price list from Kitchen Mart. I also asked that a building permit be pulled so that all work performed by Kitchen Mart complied with city ordinance requirements. I was quoted a flat rate of $1500 for that to be accomplished. That amount seemed unusually high to me so I called the city building department and was told the work I was having done would only require a fee of $66.25. When I called Jim Howard and asked him about the disparity, he confirmed with his supervisor this was a standard fee Kitchen Mart charges for labor costs associated with pulling a permit. However, after some discussion, he did agree to lower the cost to $200. I chose not to sign a contract with Kitchen Mart based on their pricing policies and reluctance to itemize their labor and material costs.
Description of Work: We asked Kitchen Mart in Rocklin to provide an estimate to remodel our kitchen. The work included refacing all the kitchen cabinets and installing new full extension drawer guides and add soft-close features to the drawers to include installation of five pull-out drawers. Install under cabinet florescent lighting. Install a 240 volt, 40 ampere line up to 100 feet. Remove florescent light fixture and replace with six recessed can lights. Fill existing light well and sheet rock and texture area. Demolition of tile counter tops and install three granite counter tops. Demolition of ceramic tile kitchen floor and fireplace surround and install 340 square feet of new ceramic tile. Install owner provided appliances. Obtain a building permit.

Kitchen Mart upgraded all the outlets in our home, moved and upgraded the electical panel and remodeled the kitchen. The remodel went well and was on schedule until we got near the end. There was one 10 day period (Memorial Day Weekend in the midst of that) where they only worked 3 days. The kitchen looks beautiful, but there are some annoying aspects. Since some of the cabinets were refaced, drawers that we previously had got omitted in the process. Also, my old large cutting board was replaced with a much smaller one, and Kitchen Mart never sat down with us to go over final plans beyond the initial decision process for countertops, etc. Also, a couple of months after the remodel, our electrical panel started to arc due to a manufacturer's defect and had to be replaced immediately. Josh and Don from Kitchen Mart were very responsive, coming out immediately to handle this emergency.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel/cabinet refacing, electrical upgrade
Kitchen Mart provided one of the lowest bids during our initial research process. Although other companies had lower or similar pricing, Kitchen Mart included everything in their pricing. We liked that they would do all of the work. We visited the Rocklin showroom, and they were very helpful in our selection of materials. It did take over a month to start the project. It seems Kitchen Mart is pretty popular. Once our scheduled start date arrived, Kitchen Mart was right on time. Although we were under the assumption (based on conversations) that the job would take about 2 weeks, it actually took much longer at around 4 weeks. However, we did have some additional work performed that wasn't included on the original contract. Although it is sometimes hard to have people working in your house for so long, all of the employees with Kitchen Mart are extremely professional, friendly and helpful. The finished results are terrific! I love our new bathrooms. Kitchen Mart did an outstanding job. We would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used Kitchen Mart to completely remodel our Master Bath, and partially update our Hall Bath. Master Bath was completely gutted and all new items installed: removed wall, new shower stall and glass, new double sink vanity, new toilet, new mirrors, new floor tile, new texture and paint. Hall Bath was updated: old wallpaper removed, new texture on walls and ceiling, new wainscoting, new glass showers, new caulking around tub/shower, and new paint.

The quality of the work was very good. We had some difficulty with the job manager not communicating with us, but the people who actually did the work were very good.

I chose this company as a result of finding it on Angie's List, a perfectly clean Better Business Bureau report, and they are a member of BBB. Additionally, with very little exception, everything they do is in-house, from Korian to cabinet making. There is really only one other major competitor in Sacramento, that is not nearly as big as Kitchen Mart, and they do not have as good of reports in Angie's List, nor a perfectly clean BBB report. Lastly, the competitor's bid was much higher as well. We received a few private contractor bids that also could not compete with Kitchen Mart. Steve King was our salesman and he has some great ideas and a plumbing background which helps in putting together a remodel. I am an analyst by trade, and as a result, it is not unusual for me to be asking a lot of questions and reconsider options in the process of my wife and I putting this bathroom together. Steve was very hard to get in contact with through the process, and at one point we had to pin him down with another appointment to get specific answers to our questions. He failed to get back to us with answers to our questions that he had to check into. And in one of our phone conversations, he actually got short with me on the phone. After closing the deal, he would not return any attempts to contact him for contract clarification. This company has other sales persons, which I would recommend you consider, UNLESS you know exactly what you want, and will not need to bother Steve with the struggles of redesigning decisions of the entire bathroom which usually comes with many questions in the process. I found the pricing well within competition, firm on prices without any give. The project manager's name was David, who really did a pretty good job considering how stretched he is in managing several jobs and crews at the same time. The person who did the magic in our bathroom was Randy. He is not perfect, made a few mistakes, had a great attitude at all times, and most of all is probably one of their best tradesman. We could complain about a few minor flaws that we have to live with, but all in all, Randy did a fantastic job. This brings one thing to mind as we ran across several employees that work for the company, the way they interacted with each other and with the customers was a compliment to Dave H., the owner. This says a lot about the company in general. The largest blunder that we ran into was the painting of the bathroom. If the salesman would have told us to only look at Kelly Moore paint colors, we would not have wasted our time and expense trying several different quarts of paint in the old bathroom until we came up with the color we wanted. When the painter came out, he pressed my wife into an on-the-spot decision for a Kelly Moore color that was close to the one we wanted. Needless to say, the bathroom had to be repainted with what we wanted. I am out of space, even though there is much more to say.
Description of Work: This was a complete bathroom remodel in a 98 year old home.
A company Representative came to my house to see the area and to discuss with me what I wanted and how much it would cost. Next I went to their showroom and had an appointment with him to select what I wanted such as tile shower type, cabinets, faucets etc. The construction supervisor came to my house and discussed my plans and measured for the custom cabinets and counters etc. I was then mailed a schedule for my job. The job went as planned. The job took 22 days. I now have 2 beautiful bathrooms.
Description of Work: Guest bathroom and master bathrooms were completely remodeled. That included demolition and clean up, new cultured marble surrounds, new vanities, new vanity tops, new tile floors, new mirrors, installation of recessed can lights, large shower, single handle faucets, installation of new shower in the bath tub, high rise toilets and new linen cabinet. I am very happy with the job. The workers were polite, professional and very careful. Plastic was placed in the traffic areas before any work was begun. The workers were on time and cleaned the work area each day. All my questions were answered. I highly recommend Kitchen Mart.

Kitchen Mart was terrific. They started when they said they would, cleaned up everyday they were here, and finished the job in a little over a week. After they were finished, we had a couple of places in the countertop that still needed to be buffed, and they came immediately when we called and buffed the countertop. They have very professional employees, and our project manager, Josh, was always available and kept us informed about what was going on. I highly recommend Kitchen Mart.
