Love, love, love this company! I first had a problem with my dryer. I called, got voice mail and within 15 min, a call back. He talked me through some tests - dryer worked, no charge. He even congratulated me on my success. So, when my mother's dishwasher fell ill, he was the first person I called. Unfortunately, the dishwasher had a non-survivable injury and had to be replaced. We called him to install it. Worked beautifully since. I would HIGHLY recommend this company. Customer service is excellent and owner goes out of his way to make sure you don't spend badly. Will use again and again. Thank you so much for restoring my faith in customer service!

We discussed the problem on the phone. He quoted me price and less then 24 hours my dishwasher was repaired at the cost he quoted! Should I need these type of services again, I definitely will call A&J Appliances Repair!

Excellent service. Called around 9:30 in morning. Phil called back promptly. Told me right up front cost to come over. Said he would be by between 10:30 to 12:30 which he was. He called before coming over and said he was on his way which I appreciated. Looked at dryer and told me cost to repair. Was professional and very courteous, did the job quckly and left the old part's which I appreciated also, lets me know he was honest. Plus I like the fact he is in business for himself, so I feel like I am helping small businesses in my community. I would use his services again and highly recommend him.

Our microwave died. I researched the problem online and had an idea of what the problem was but failing to revive it was resigned to paying someone else to fix it. I contacted Phil who explained that he only did home calls for larger item like built-in microwaves etc). He then walked me through the necessary steps to finish trouble- shooting the problem. One hour later I had identified the blown thermal cut out sensor. Another hour later I had obtained the correct part (thanks to Zajic) and - with one more call to Phil- had the new part in and the microwave was fixed. With nothing to gain, he none-the-less fixed my problem over the phone. I hope that I have the opportunity to use his service in the future - a class act.

Technician did a great job and my dishwasher now runs well. He gave me valuable advice on products to use and how to clean the dishwasher routinely. I think the overall price was higher than should have been.

I called A & J on 7-5-13 and left a message for a return call. Within a half hour Phil returned my call. Phil asked where I was located then told me he does not service our area, however, he asked what the problem was; when I told him that the washer completely stopped working, he said he would make an exception and come out on Monday, July 8 to look at the washer. If he could not fix it he said it would cost the service call. I agreed. Phil stated he would be here between 10:00-12:00 noon and would call when he was on his way. He called on Monday approx 11:30am asking if it was alright to could come out. He was here within 25min. He looked at the washer and told me he thought it was the clutch which he had in his truck. He quoted me a price, he said if that was not the problem he would remove the new clutch and put the old one back on. Fortunately the clutch was the problem. He seemed very knowledgeable and within another half hour the job was done. He asked if he could clean the floor under the washer and put the washer back in place; I told him I would do it. He suggested I change the hoses behind the washer and asked if I wanted him to do it now, I told him I would replace them at a later date. I would use him again if he would service our area.

Went great, Phil is very knowledgeable and friendly. Very responsive to my initial call and flexible on coming out when it was convenient for us. He called to let me know he was running late, and he came prepared with the necessary parts, gave me a quote ahead of time and cleaned up after himself very well even vacuuming my coils and vent. I would definitely recommend him to a friend or neighbor.

He came out to replace a part because only cold water was coming out of my washer. When he got here, everything worked fine! (I had tested it before he came out, and it definitely wasn't working.) Rather than just pay a service call for $60, I had him replace the hoses because they were at least 10 years old. It cost me an extra $40 for the hoses/labor. I was annoyed that he came all the way out here and the problem wasn't showing itself, but he was very professional, knowledgeable, and honest. He was right on time, called before he arrived, and discussed the problem with me on the phone before coming out, which some companies won't do. If I have a problem with the hot water again, I hope it's in the next 30 days so I won't have to pay an extra service charge.

The day before the movers were to arrive, the washing machine stopped mid-cycle full of water and full of linens.Couldn't get the water out. The machine just quit. As a new member of Angie's List, I found A&J Appliance Repair and left a desperate message, though not hopeful and very stressed about the situation. Phil called back promptly and was able to be there within an hour to save the day! He was professional, friendly, and explained what caused the failure. He had the necessary replacement part on his truck and was able to get the washer back up and running in no time, while counseling me on how to make the new part last longer by setting the lid down gently instead of just dropping it as I always did. Phil also provided input on my intention to buy some new appliances in the near future, convincing me it was not needed, saving me quite a bit of money. One of the reasons for the plan to buy a new dryer was its overall poor performance. Phil assured me it was a good brand that shouldn't be having such a problem. He took the time while there to check it out as well. Turned out it was not venting as it should have been and it too was remedied. Thanks, Phil! Looking forward to an appointment for the plumbing list at the new house.

After researching Angie's list and making an appt for next day service by another company, I left a voicemail message with A & J Appliance Repair about 8:30 a.m / Monday morning. Owner, Phil Grajeda responded within minutes and assured me the noise would not cause my refrig/freezer to explode or house to burn down (Yes, it sounded THAT bad). Although he intended to wind down his work schedule before leaving on vacation, he came to my rescue. He called when he was on his way (just as he had estimated) and was at my house by 12:15. He took apart my freezer and found the fan issue but it wasn't a typical problem. He easily could have fooled me by replacing this or that but he didn't. No upsale. No unnecessary parts. He defrosted the frozen fan and said it might never happen again or it may be a repeat problem but assured me it's a good unit so let's discuss other options if it happens again. The refrig is 10 years old and was included in the home I just bought so I really wasn't anxious to buy a new major appliance just yet. Before leaving he explained how I can best care for my dishwasher, self cleaning convection oven and microwave. He provided excellent service and went above and beyond in my opinion. I would call A & J Appliance / Phil Grajeda without any hesitation. Good job Phil. Thank you!

I called about 5:15 in the evening expecting an answering machine. Phil answered and said he could be out to check my warm refrigerater that evening about 7pm or the next morning. To my surprise, he was willing to come that evening. He called about 6:45 to let me know he was on his way. He arrived about 7:10. After taking off the back covers, he examined the refrigerator and declared it was in need of a new sealed compressor ... which he does not do. He does electrical rather than "major surgery" He did not charge because he didn't fix it. I really appreciate a man who knows what he's doing, and does what he knows. He made solid suggestions on how to proceed. Considering the cost, I got a new refrig. Phil is at the top of my list if I have any appliance problems. I recommend him without reservation !

I submitted a work request on A&J's website on Saturday, Phil called me on Sunday, and he was able to schedule me for the next morning. He showed up right on time at 8:30 am and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the part in his van so my oven was working again within the hour. Phil also tested everything to make sure there were no other issues. He is very knowledgeable about applliances and kept me entertained with stories and answered my questions while he worked. I like that this is a local family owned company and I will definitely use them again if any of my other appliances break down.

i called them and my call was promptly returned. he would come out the same day (which was in itself amazing - i wasn't put off for 5 days like most repairmen). he diagnosed to problem (at least what we thought was the problem) in about 5 minutes after tearing the dryer apart. he replaced the belt (which was burnt) and the pulleys. unfortunately when everything was pout back together and we turned it on for a trial run, there was still a noise and the drum was still not turning. the bad news was it was the motor. phil told me i had a choice of repair or replace. he did tell me that a comparible dryer would probably cost about $800. i chekced on line and in stores, and found that was true, so decided to repair the old one. despite a financial glitch, my dryer was repaired and is virtually new again. this is one of the most positive experiences i have ever had. This company truly knows the meaning of the word SERVICE!!!! i have given the number to a variety of my friends who are looking for reasonable, reliable repair services. i would and do HIGHLY recommend this company!!!!

They were able to repair and make further recommendations, which I was very satisfied with. They helped repair the buzzer, recommendations on reworking the dryer vent, and were just so pleasant all at the same time. I would highly recommend their service. They made sure everything was very clean before leaving and even while they were working. I can't say enough good things about this business.

Service man arrived on time, Diagnosed the problem and offered solutions quickly. Some glass got into the pump and jambed it. He cleaned it out and offered to return without charging an additional service call if we wanted to replace the pump. Would recommend highly.

Phil did a great job explaining what the problem was and making sure it worked correctly before he left. The best part was, he gave me lots of tips on how to do minor maintenance on my dishwasher and my ceramic cook top. What a friendly, customer service oriented person!

He was very honest. He will come on weekends which was a big plus. He was very professional, courteous, and has reasonable pricing. I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

Great service, quick response. The dryer was not drying clothes. Phil replaced heating element and vent . The dyer is drying clothes like a new dryer.

I emailed / phone messaged Phil at A&J at 10PM (when we discovered our washing machine was not longer cycling through). Phil worked us into his busy schedule and was at the house the following morning to fix the problem. GREAT SERVICE, RESPONSIVENESS, AND PROFESSIONALISM.

Phil had a cancellation and was therefore able to respond quickly to my call. The job was completed quickly and he explained/showed everything that was broken (coupler). Even better, he replaced it with a higher quality part that would endure wear and tear better over time (stronger metal coupler vs. plastic coupler). Phil of A & J was very honest and transparent about the work performed and was reasonable with his pricing. And, Phil actually gave me recommendations for dryer and dishwasher maintenance that would help ensure they perform and last a long time. I give Phil at A & J an A+ RATING and will certainly call him again when I need work performed on my appliances. It is nice to have someone like this that you can trust to do a quality job and with honesty! Thanks Phil!

The man from A&J came out to fix our broken washing machine. He's very honest, professional, trustworthy, just really good. We've been using them for about three years. They're very reasonably priced, and they always do a great job. I'll continue to use them in the future, of course.

of course, my fridge went out on a holiday weekend....Thanksgiving Day I placed a few calls hoping some of them would be opon on the Friday after Thanksgiving so I could schedule a service call. Phil returned my call within 1/2 hour ON THANKSGIVING DAY!! Unfortunately, he does not service my type of refrigerator, but his professionalism and courteous, fast response are an A+! Will call him for my next repair job.

Awesome! A & J Appliance was able to fix the problem over the phone by troubleshooting with our tenant. We thought it was a simple fix, but fully expected to have to pay for a repairman to come to the house. This was not the case with Phil. He suggested first talking with our tenant over the phone to try to fix the problem, which he did for free. I called A & J Appliance because of their excellent reviews on Angie's List and elsewhere. Plus, they are a locally-owned and operated company that services the Land Park area. We are thrilled to have found an honest appliance repairman that we will definitely use in the future.
