Very very well.
Description of Work: Electric outlets checked and changed out, inspected breaker box, put in light switch. He made recommendations for future work based on what he found when checking outlets. I also want him to install new doorbell and chime box. I plan to call him this week to do the additional work.

Dear Angie's List Member, If you needed your project done right, I understand. Please don't get upset if I cannot take on your work. The only person I can send out to do an estimate is myself, I'm the guy I send... I always set up appointments in the Natomas area as a preferred job, it’s just busy due to the temperature rising. I'm sorry I couldn't help this time, maybe next time. Jeff

Description of Work: Jeff was great, he found the issue right away and switched the main breaker in the rain, which usually costs more but he didn't charge us for this. We would highly recommend him to our family and friends. He is honest and trustworthy something that is hard to find these days. We will definitely use him again.

Description of Work: Jeff Vickland is a man we know we can trust. He rewired, stood on very tall laders to run wire and put in amazing lighting, he fixed a bathroom fan, he set up flat screen TV and more. He also came out for a different emergency job after a full day of work and stood outside in the cold attaching what needed to be attached all with his constant smile. I would hire him again and we just did! He is coming back to put new lights in and do a few other electrical items. Jeff and his brosther Josh are the all time best.

I called and left a voicemail with the company. Jeff, the owner, contacted me later that evening. He was very professional from the start. It was clear from the beginning that he knows his job well. He asked penetrating questions about the inspection report; I'm sure he even began the diagnostic and troubleshooting process from the phone call. He was able to meet me at the unit later in the week. He arrived promptly, and began going through the items in the inspection report in a methodical manner. I had plumbers there at the same time, and Jeff easily worked with and around them in some tight spaces. As he worked through each item, he explained to me what he was doing and, in those cases in which there were options, he explained them to me and let me choose the course of action. There were a few times when the job seemed to be taking more time or effort than expected, and I kept expecting him to have to go to another job, but he was committed to getting everything done and I very much appreciated that. One aspect of the job involved inspecting the electrical situation for the air-conditioning unit. When it became clear that it was going to have to go up on the roof, it really didn't faze him at all. He just grabbed a ladder and climbed up to determine what needed to be done. Not holding out much hope for an inexpensive solution, I asked him about an electrical heating element in the bathroom. Based upon the inspection report, I was sure that the unit was defective and would need to be replaced. As he went through the troubleshooting process, he found instead that the switch was defective. I was able to make a quick Home Depot run while he was working on the panel, and when I returned he replaced bathroom switch and the heater works perfectly now. The condo was built in the late 1960s, and the electrical conventions at the time are quite different from today. Jeff seemed well acquainted with old and new standards and how to achieve the best outcome. For example, the new GFCs were a challenge to install (a tight fit) because the size of boxes were typically shallower then than they are now. Again, this "bumps in the road" really didn't faze him at all. A few weeks later (October 6th), I had another electrical issue in the condo related to central heating, something not on the inspection report. Again, Jeff worked with me on the phone to determine whether it was an HVAC or electrical issue. After determining that it could be an electrical issue, Jeff literally came over in about 20 minutes. As the condo was for my mom, and she has just moved to California in the last week, I really appreciated his willingness to engage the problem right away so that she would be warm and comfortable in this first cold snap of the year. In both cases, I felt the prices Jeff charged were very reasonable for the high quality service he provided. He is careful, detail-oriented, and professional. I've used his services twice, and I would not hesitate to use him again. I will also be recommending him highly to my friends that need electrical work.
Description of Work: I recently purchased a modest condo for my mom, who is moving here from out of state. On the condo inspection report, there were several electrical issues that needed to be addressed before she moved in: "Breaker or fuse amperage exceeds manufacturer's specifications for the A/C unit. The A/C unit calls for a maximum fuse of 15 amps. There are 50 amp fuses in the disconnect panel. Overcurrent protection is improperly fused which is a potential fire hazard. Recommend further evaluation by a qualified licensed electrical contractor. GFCI protection not provided at kitchen, bath, and exterior outlets. A GFCI is used for protection from electrical shocks in wet areas. These are safety devices. They may not be present in older homes because they were not required at the time of construction, but are recommended to meet current safety standards. Modification or addition is generally considered an upgrade which may improve safety or efficiency. Bathroom electric heater inoperative. Failure of a system or component. The system or component fails to operate properly. Two breakers are tied together in the kitchen area (breaker 4 and 7). There's an outlet in the living room that's not fastened properly."

After debating about if/how to adjust new HDMI cables and using the existing wall-mount, I contacted Jeff. He called me the next day. He was very informative and professional. He seemed to genuinely want to save me money on the job. He estimated it would only be a service call with the discount applied. After speaking to him, we took his advice to use extension cables. Since we were able to adjust the existing wall mount, there was no need to hire him. I will definitely call him for future work.

That is the story, from start to finish. He was wonderful in every way!
Description of Work: The electrical outlets in my two bathrooms are GFI protected, but they don't have any reset buttons. In the ten years that I've owned this house, the outlets have quit working about half a dozen times, but the previous electricians or handymen never explained to me why this was happening. Jeff first tried to work through it on the phone with me like computer tech support to save me the cost of a visit, but none of my circuitbreakers were flipped and the GFI button in my kitchen didn't help reset the bathrooms. I also have a GFI button on outlets in my garage, but since my freezer and vacuum system are plugged into that outlet, it seemed to be working fine. Jeff brought a gadget that allowed him to track the circuits through the walls everywhere in the house by waving it like a wand. It made noises to indicate when he was on the right path. It led to the button in the garage! He explained that the plugs in the garage are designed for appliances, and so the button with them has nothing at all to do with their operation. It did, in fact, control the switches in the bathrooms! In addition to explaining that, he pointed out my Sonicare water flossing device as an item that often trips circuits if any water escapes inside. Now I need to let my dentists know so they can share that info with their other patients. When he finished the repair and excellent explanations, he asked if there were any other electrical problems or questions I had. I showed him some outlets installed about 8 years ago that I've been unable to force plugs into. He showed me that they are installed correctly and explained that it is good for new outlets to be extra tight because, as they are used and heat up, they become loose. Finally I showed him a series of outdoor extension cords that run a long way across my yard to a shed. Sometimes I lose power on those lines. Jeff explained that it would be better to have a single wire because moisture can get into the connectors, but suggested using liquid electrical tape after cleaning the connections to help prevent the problem.

At 9:30 a.m. I left a voice message, which was promptly returned. I was quoted a price of $180 (including the discount for mentioning Angie's list or his website) plus costs over the phone, and was given a near spot-on estimate of the costs as well. He came out almost immediately to inspect the main breaker, and then purchased the appropriate one. Because this repair required a city inspection and permit, he explained the process to me, but I would not be able to get to the permit office in time, so he offered to obtain the permit and brave the line for $40 (plus the cost of the permit). He promptly scheduled inspection and called me to provide me with the permit number. He completed the repair the same morning, and obtained the permit shortly after noon, working through lunch, as best as I can tell. The cost of the permit and the breaker were, as promised, billed at cost, and the work was completed quickly and professionally. I would certainly use this contractor again.

Overall, the job went better than expected. You never know what you will find when having to access an attic or a crawl space underneath the house. Since the house is an older house, I was expecting the unexpected - problems in the attic, the need to undo what someone else did, access issues, etc. But from start to finish, it was a breeze; no issues in the attic, no extraneous or oddly wired fixtures or circuits, and it was all done sooner versus later. Can't get any better than that!
Description of Work: I hired 1Source to come out and install a separate circuit (actually two) for the garage and kitchen. When he came out, he we walked through what issue was and possible solutions. It was recommended two separate circuits be installed; one of the garage and one for the kitchen. In the process of writing up the proposed bid, I wanted to have one of the garage outlets looked at and repaired because that outlet seemed to be causing the most problems. While looking at the outlet, we both noticed a light on the inside of the outlet and thought that was strange. Well, it turned out that "light" in the outlet was actually fire - the wiring in this outlet had caught fire! While the electrician was just about to repair it! Good thing he repaired it before he left because it was obviously a fire hazard. The overall work performed was fantastic, with only one hole drilled from the ceiling to run the wiring. The job site was left clean and the added circuits in the electrical panel along with the new outlets were neatly done. I thought the price for splitting one circuit into to two, running new romex and the installation of the outlets was a good price. I'd definately pick 1Soure Electrical again.

Jeff added an outlet in the master bath that involved drilling through 3 layes of 2x4 studs to extend electrical line. We now have a much-needed outlet where there was none. He corrected an installation of two overhead fans that had wireless on/off switches. Turning one light on might turn on (or off) the light in the other room. He managed to change the switches to work properly. He repaired a recessed lighting fixture that had burned out 4 low wattage bbulbs in two months. In addition, he had to make two trips to get needed parts. He spent four hours on our repairs and only charged $154, less than half what my wife and I had estimated. Jeff will do all of our electrical repairs from here on. He also gives senior discounts.

Angie's List members - try one of the new kids on the block! Jeff is most pleasant and a confident and knowledgeable professional. Highly recommended. I called Jeff on Friday and asked what the cost would be to bring two diy installed outlets up to code and to lower a light fixture. He gave me a quote of $200 and did the work for me the following day. While he was here he asked if there was anything else that needed his attention and he repaired two lamps and replaced two beat up receptacles; although he did more than we discussed over the phone (to include two trips to the hardware store), he charged me only for materials that were needed. I was impressed with his professionalism and promptness. He went beyond the call when he gave the brass light fixture a thorough cleaning and washed all five glass shades! He checked his work and kept the area clean. I highly recommend Jeff. I will be using his services in the future.

We have used 1 Source Electric before and were very happy that we were able to get him again for this project. Jeff was able to give us an exact quote over the phone after we sent him a couple of pictures of where the lights were to be installed. Jeff did a great job keeping the dust off of our furniture by covering everything with plastic. The install went great and everything looks wonderful. Jeff is very knowledgeable and he does great work! We will definitely be referring him to our friends and family.
Description of Work: We had Jeff come and install 8 recessed lights in our living room, 6 recessed lights in our kitchen, and install ceiling fans in two of the bedrooms. Holes were cut in the ceiling drywall to fit the new recessed lights and he changed out the two old light boxes so that they could support the new ceiling fans.

Service was excellent. Jeff was right on time and looked for the quickest and least expensive way to remedy my electrical problem. He pulled out my range to check to see why it was not receiving any electrical power. He quickly located the problem and fixed it. He was very courteous, honest and friendly. He was also very concerned that I be completely happy with his work. I was very surprised with how little the repair ended up costing and will definitely use this provider again when I need any electrical work done.
