+ 0 moreIf I could score Ray higher than an "A", I would. When I originally phoned to inquire about his services, he answered my call immediately. We discussed my job and he quoted his hourly rates and estimated the time required. When I agreed, he sent me an email outlining the terms, and I responded to accept. Ray phoned the night before he was due to confirm the appointment. He arrived 5 min. early and started to work immediately. He was respectful of my home, vacuumed up the dust and debris, and was thoroughly professional. He was also mindful of the time, and didn't try to go over his estimate. I will definitely use Ray's services again.
Description of Work: Ray modified a kitchen cabinet to accomodate a new microwave. He also removed two old cabinets from the laundry room.

+ -1 moreAfter contacting Ray via Angies LIst I received a very prompt reply asking for a description of what was needed. I sent him an email detailing the problem and after sending him a few pictures of the failed rails and inside of the pantry he was able to calll me and suggest a couple of solutions. With his advice and expertise we decided on the 3 -bracket approach and I mailed him a deposit check so he could order the necessary parts. After a very short few days he called to make an appointment to perform the work on the following day. He was on time, very professional and friendly, and I am more than completely satisfied. The pull-out pantry drawers work perfectly and are much stronger and will not collapse. I would highly recommend Ray and Simply Cabinet Solutions to anybody needing cabinet repair.
Description of Work: The provider, Ray, replaced and upgraded the support railings for my 4 pantry pull-out drawers. A couple of them had pulled out of the cabinet sides and collapsed. He was able to find much stronger and more efficient brackets and even added a 3rd bracket on each rail for more support.

+ 1 moreI had sent requests to three different Angie's List woodwork providers. Ray got back to me right away and, based on a measured drawing I provided, he was able to provide a quote range. He came out and measured my area and had my drawing to use for creating detailed drawings. Ray offered valuable input to that resulted in a beautiful design. Once all the pieces had been finished Ray came and put it all together. It was amazing to see the pieces go together to make an amazing unit. I have lots of lower storage, even more display area above and an area for the TV in the middle. The unit is much larger than you imagine on paper, but it definitely finished the room. Ray kept with the cabinet design in my newly remodeled kitchen, so now the kitchen and family room area feel like it was all built together. I couldn't be happier with the work Ray did and the final build.

His work is outstanding and professional. Of all the contractors I?ve had at my home to do work he is 1st on my list for carpentry work. He left work area spotless. The job was done so well you wouldn?t know that he did anything.
Description of Work: Ray showed up on time for giving me an estimate and for doing the work. He is very easy to work with. He modified a kitchen cabinet above my kitchen range to accommodate for a larger range hood.

+ 0 moreRay replied to my request the same day I contacted him. After measuring the doors, he researched the materials and came up with some alternatives. He called me and we discussed the alternatives. On a second trip, he brought sample pieces of the material with different stains, and I chose one. On the third trip, he replaced all six doors. The doors look beautiful. The stain color is wonderful. It is very difficult to match or find a blend that will match a thirty-year old stain, but Ray did it. He is a true craftsman.
Description of Work: Replaced six large doors on a pantry unit. The cabinets are 30 years old, and the original material is no longer available. Ray was able to find replacement material and stain that blended with the other original cabinetry in the adjacent kitchen.

Description of Work: The contractor modified an existing in-wall TV Cabinet (10 years old) to accommodate a larger TV. Ray built an insert, modified the cabinet design, and matched the wood and finish of the existing cabinet. The end result looks as if it was built from scratch. Ray did a great job, left the jobsite clean, and I would highly recommend him.

+ -1 moreRay responded to me through email. Although I had to call in once and then email. He scheduled an appointment based on my convenience and came right on time. After looking at the work he gave me an estimate which was slightly more than what I had got from a previous person. But I liked the way he explained what can be done and gave me an impression that he will do a great job. Plus I got to use a 10% Angie's list discount coupon which brought the cost down. He made the changes exactly like we discussed and took the doors with him to the warehouse. He preferred to glue the cracked doors as he explained that even if he matched the color with aging ther will have a different appearance. He came back after a day and the new doors looked perfect. You cannot tell that the door was ever broken unless you look very closely.
Description of Work: 2 broken cabinet doors in the kitchen. And modification to an existing cabinet to fit in TV.

He was very exacting and meticulous in all the work that he did, something that was not easy when not all of the existing walls and planes he had to work with were straight. He was right on time for the estimate appointment and the install. When he ran into any difficulties, he consulted with us on the best way to handle the modifications before proceeding. You could not ask for a better contractor to work with. Also, his price was very reasonable. Before getting in contact with Ray we obtained an estimate just for the roll out drawers from another company that specializes in such a product. Even though their drawers only had a 55 lb. rating and the ones Ray used had a 100 lb. rating, the other company wanted $2500, putting them over our budget. Thank goodness we turned to Angie's List! I love my new pantry, and the access openings he crafted essentially give me two more cabinets in my kitchen!
Description of Work: We have a U-shaped kitchen, where both legs of the U are peninsulas; on one side is the breakfast nook and on the other is the formal dining area. The two corner cabinets at the bottom of the U needed better access. Ray was able to cut a hole in the back of the cabinets, finish frame the opening and mount new doors. One of the legs of the U was actually a pony wall, so it required a little bit more design and construction to cut and frame. They turned out beautifully and looked as if they were built as part of the original kitchen. He also crafted two banks of rollout drawers for a large pantry cupboard, five on each side. What was previously a jumbled mess is now super organized and efficient.

+ 0 moreThe entire project took less than one month from initial estimate to completion. Most of the work was done in his shop off-site, and the fine tuning was completed at my home. He brought his own tools, and even though he made a few saw cuts to adjust the cabinets to an exact fit, there was not one speck of sawdust anywhere on my premises. I couldn't be any happier with the process or the finished product. I recommend him highly to all Angie's list users looking for a very skilled cabinet-maker.
Description of Work: Ray was not only responsive in timeliness, but he took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and respond with the perfect plan and just the right finished product. I wanted a built-in look for some custom bookshelves and cabinets/window seat on the front wall of my living room. He matched the design perfectly to tie in with the look of the other woodwork in the room (fireplace mantle and existing doors). He presented a rough drawing, tweaked it according to our suggestions and came back with a final proposal. But he didn't stop there. The day after I signed off on the proposal, he came back with another suggestion for the cupboard and drawer doors that matched my existing door woodwork exactly. (The first one was close enough to be difficult to see that there was much difference.) The work was completed on time, with minimum inconvenience to me (one-day installation) and within budget (with a few extra minor tweaks thrown in a no cost). I would definitely use him again and have recommended him to several friends who are considering future remodeling.
