I think the above describes the projects overall in good detail.
Description of Work: We had a number of tile repair issues for Eric, all challenging, some resulting from delayed remodeling projects. In lieu of removing and replacing our chocolate brown Mexican tile in the kitchen, we decided to repair and replace some damaged ones. Eric cut out the old and cemented in the new very nicely. It's just that now we had a lovely fresh area of tile, with the old looking tired and shabby. I asked Eric if there was something we could do to improve the match and he came up with an idea, an experiment, which we knew going into that the outcome was not guaranteed. He applied to the entire tile surface two coats of epoxy, sanding lightly in between the two, to give us a rich, new shiny topcoat. While the gamble was worthwhile, it wasn't a complete hit as the epoxy showed streaks or separated in certain areas. Still, we are glad we did it. It's better than what we had. Next, Eric replaced some ancient broken pavers on our bathroom floor, a job that we postponed thinking that we would remodel, but no. He found an excellent match and patched them in in such a way that you can't tell the old from the new. The floor is not a great beauty, but it is well-repaired and thoroughly usable until we get around to a more ambitious undertaking. Last was a more artistic project, repairing an antique garden table with a top of glass mosaic. The old cement rim was crumbling away, and many of the glass pieces were broken or missing. Eric found some glass pieces to work with, and I added some that I came up with. First, he created a mold and new cement for the rim. Then, after allowing a couple of weeks to dry, the two of us sat outside on my "island" at the table, picking out glass fragments and shards to fit into the existing design. Once finished, Eric cemented them into place and, voila!, a new life for an old love. Bottom line? Eric is a terrific repairer of tile and a great person to call on to extend the life of existing tile that needs TLC. While he is not a white-glove craftsman, I recommend him highly as someone when you choose to restore rather than replace, a great service for these tough economic times. Next, I have plans for him to work on the Malibu tile in our old barbeque area outside........
